This was such an amazing line. I’m pretty sure my breath caught in my throat when I read it. (Though I’m ashamed to admit that I didn't pick up on the spilled coffee parallel until I was typing it into the review just now.) What I loved about this story was how the conversation between Beckett and Castle flowed naturally. When they started the conversation, you wouldn't have guessed where it would end up, but that’s how conversations are in real life, especially with someone you love and are comfortable with. “Time Will Tell” is definitely one of my new favorite episodes, and this was a great post-ep. for it. Thanks for being such an amazing Castle writer.

Did I already tell you how much I loved your reasoning, why various characters behave the way they do? Well, in case I didnt, I do. Do love it, big time. I think its spot on where canon is concerned and it also deepens the characters. Like the fact that you made alexis leaving about something so wonderful as a daughter finally daring to live her life because she wont feel bad for leaving her father alone anymore, since hes already found someone to step into those shoes.

Because yes, ppl tend to trash alexis, but its not what we saw in the last seasons, how she evolved into this mature person. And despite some of her flaws, and lets face it, who isnt flawed(?), there was always one thing about alexis you could always count on - her love and protective devotion to her father, the person who raised her, the person whom she dediated her validoct. speech.

So yes, in a way, its makes sense that she would move out also because she felt like she finally could, like there would be someone to take care of her dad when she wasnt there. Despite how great a father Castle his, he hass control issues as well as problems letting go. And, as you said, stepping up for himself...anyway, what i wanted to tell with this rant is that i loved how you took this episode and used what we were given to create a story that once again unlayered something interesting about our favourite characters. And since its so logical and in character, one might (that means ME) adopt is sorta as head canon:)

So thanx. you are the best!

ps - sorry for the poor syntax and grammar and spelling quality, but i am at work, my bosses daughter is in the office, wracking havoc, along with the dog thats completely spoiled and ill-manared, running and barking around and I am about to explode...thats why i settled for replying to your story instead, at least smt to bring me solace in this mayhem.

Aw, I love it.

It's intriguing to see the point made by Kate about Castle re: his habit of not standing up to his loved ones when they're making a mistake...Martha, Alexis and Kate have all made judgement calls that Rick has known were bad ideas but except for Kate? He's never really had a big ole showdown with any of them when he's feeling Very Bad Things are afoot, and even then, his moments of overt emotional courage come at ultimatum points and Kate's technically thrown them back at him every time. It will be interesting to see how the Alexis-Pi subplot works out, since it will allow for interesting areas to explore with how Castle deals with being right at the expense of his daughter's emotional state...cuz while the humour of Castle getting to be the tight-ass prude was entertaining in response to Pi's antics, the underlying matter of Alexis hooking up with her mirror opposite means a strong possibility of rough sailing ahead.

In any case, this was a brilliant piece of work, chezchuckles! Seeing the aftermath of "Time Will Tell" really brought home a number of factors, including how having Kate as a fiancee means Alexis seems to be able to feel she can open herself up more to being wild and crazy in her life choices - though I don't think Pi is the right way to explore that, as I noted above ;P - and how futures can be changed. Though Caskettt spawning three sprogs - possibly triplets, if Murphy is feeling amused - and Beckett ending up a senator? That's a future worth seeing just for the journey!
