I just reread this - I could have sworn I reviewed when you published it, but apparently not. Just wanted to say it's my favourite BtVS / DLM crossover, and I really enjoyed it.

Just came across this story and wanted to say it was excellent. Very nice blending of the two shows and an excellent characterization of George. Gave me a temporary fix for Dead Like Me that I hadn't realized I'd been missing.

the fact that this story only has 12 reviews and 65 favs dose not do it anywhere near the justest it deserves.

Excellent story, and a heck of a crossover. ;P Granted, it's impossible to believe that Reapers could 'possibly' have gone unnoticed in the Buffyverse... but I'm a nitpicker, and that's nitpicking beyond the scope of this story. Really, this is the DLM Universe, guest starring the Scooby Gang, and as 'that' story, it was fun to read. .

That was very well done. And I liked how you reinforced the fact that there really is no happy ending for these characters.

This was amazing. I really hope you'll write a sequal someday!

Dawn: I'd like to do something that doesn't directly break the rules.
George: Okay I'll let you, but only if you can directly break that rule.
Me: Um... what?

Dawn: I'd like to work for my old organization under my new alias.
George: No. No connections to your previous life.
Me: Doesn't George work for her old company? And her old boss?

Dawn: I want to help people.
George: No, interfering with mortals is bad.
Me: So... Roxy? Police officer? Directly helped people? Replaced by Dawn?

George: I hired someone, he was one of the people shot the next day at the office. Therefore, direct involvement really bad.
Me: Please let there be more than the one example. Otherwise the reasoning is like: the first time I flipped a coin it landed heads up, therefore all coins will always land heads up.

Georgia's logic really makes me want to bang my head on my desk. Repeatedly. Not that she's wrong, but her explanation and test... ow, my brain.
Maybe a test were Dawn sends some minor info to the Watchers anonymously, like where a few vampires are nesting, and sees what happens? Something that actually tests the concept instead of something not directly related.
Anyhow, I'm really enjoying your writing. :)

I don't really know why I got the idea to read this - just for starters, what I knew about Dead Like Me beforehand could have been written on a post-it with space to spare.
Glad I did though, because it was highly entertaining. A nice capture of the blase nature of death meeting the melodrama of the BtVS setting. Drop in the character deaths? Council goes headless-chickens - in Seattle it's 'meh, that's...yeah, whatever the term is.' And good work with the gravelings, which definitely seemed to fit into the BtVS mythos. Good melding, executed with a minimum of screw-ups. Niiiiiiice.

Ha! That was a great story - it really made my day. You captured George perfectly, and the whole style of the fic in general felt just like an episode of DLM.

To some extent, making Dawn a reaper seems strange. I mean, is she really a soul at all? I guess I always thought that if her mortal body were to die, the key would simply revert back to its natural state (whatever that is). If she had followed Buffy into the lights, wouldn't that like, open the boundaries between all dimensions and unravel the fabric of the universe or something?

Nevertheless, it makes no difference here, it just took me a few chapters for the idea of reaper Dawn to sink in and I think that you made an interesting plot out of it. Way to toss Harris into the midst of the fun like that too.

anyway, I love how you made fate and all of that stuff reasonable in who to keep alive and all, Im always pissed when the powers that Be are portrayed as SOLY complete assholes with no morality involved in it.
here they are SENSIBLE, and there IS a freaking WAR going on and your going to have casualites. and sometimes you know when your going to have them...
the reapers were some nice messes as people trapped in the machine where you don't know enough to hcnage shit until you know to much and cant DO ANYTHING. love Xander sleeping with death, that's got to be a record! although Buffy gone, Dawn and her Key ness is gone and WIllow just suffered some massive damage... don't like Pawns trying to upgrade on their lonesome now do they?
