A/N: Hello, people!

I don't own Inuyasha or Vampire Knight.

I have no beta.

ENJOY!

Kagome heaved a sigh and prepared to tell Kaname about her past.

"I wasn't born a vampire."

Kaname's eyes widened slightly as his head tilted to the side. How could she be a pureblood vampire if she wasn't born one? How was such a thing possible?

"I was born in nineteen eighty-six, to the Higurashi family. All my life, my grandfather told me that Youkai existed and I had never believed him. But then I was pulled down my family's shrine's well by a Youkai and was transported five hundred years into the past."

Kagome rolled her eyes, remembering that day very well. That day had changed her life forever.

"It turned out that the Youkai wanted an artifact called the Shikon no Tama and could sense it on me somehow. I knew nothing about this, so I was still screaming for it to let go of me. In the end, I blasted its arms off with my reiki, even though I had no idea what I was doing.

When I finally reached the bottom of the well, I climbed out and was horrified to see woods instead of the well house. After a few hours of seeing a boy pinned to a tree by an arrow, being captured by villagers who thought I was a demon and being freed and learning the reason for my presence in that time, I was ready to go home. But then that Youkai came back and I had to run so it wouldn't destroy the village."

She sighed, "I ended up back where I saw that boy pinned to the tree and something had happened. His spirit was awakened and he was alive! And all he did was insult me and call me Kikyo, which I did not appreciate. He couldn't move because of the arrow and when the Youkai appeared, he told me if I pulled it out, he'd save us, so I did. After the Youkai ripped the shining pink jewel from my side, I did as he said and he killed the beast. But then he came after me for the jewel and tried to lob my head off. The Miko of the village i had been in, appeared and she used kotodama to trap him in a spell and all I had to do was say a word and he would be subjugated. And finally, the matters were laid to rest for that night."

"What is the Shikon no Tama?" Kaname asked suddenly, gaining her attention.

She huffed an unamused laugh. "It is the Jewel of Four Souls. Aramitama, Nigimitama, Kushimitama and Sakimitama are the four spirits that make up the jewel. When four such spirits are brought together in their own maximum, they form a powerful bond that can be used for either good or evil.

When in the hands of a truly pure Miko, the jewel shines brightly. It's pink aura warm and free. But if it were to get in the hands of anyone else. Anyone who had an impure heart, mind or soul, it would become tainted. The blackness would overcome it.

The Shikon can be used for power. It grants a wish to whomever uses it and the wishes were never good. Only a pure wish could destroy it and not many could ever hope to pull that off. Because it would have to be for the sake of everything, not just one person or only their friends. We're talking about saving the whole world.

Even a shard of it could cause a lot of damage and a lot of people have died because of the jewel. It's dangerous and has to be guarded by a Miko of full purity and that's where I come in."

She took a deep breath. "So, I found out that I was the reincarnation of Kikyo, the priestess who was involved with the boy, Inuyasha, fifty years prior to my arrival in the past. I looked a lit like her and Inuyasha put his annoyance for her on me. In their last few moments, they were pitted against each other and died thinking the other betrayed them, so it was rough in the beginning between him and I. One day, the jewel was stolen by a Youkai and I tried to shoot it down with an arrow, but I hit the jewel instead and broke it into several shards. That began our journey.

There was Inuyasha and I in the beginning. Me just going along to fix my mistake whereas Inuyasha wanted to use the jewel to become a full blooded Youkai, seeing as he was an Inu Hanyou. We met Shippo, who wanted to get revenge on the Thunder Brothers, Souten's brothers, for killing his father. Inuyasha retrieved the shards he had stolen from us and then we helped defeat Souten's brothers. Next came Miroku, whose family was cursed and every male was born with a black hole in their right hand that would get larger the older they got an would eventually swallow them up. The only way to be rid of it, was to kill the person who cast the curse. We met Sango not too long after that. She was from a slayer village that trained specifically to kill Youkai. She was the best, but a Hanyou came along and killed her village and then used her brother to slay the others in her group that had left the village on a mission. She was manipulated when it was revealed that she hadn't died at the hand of her possessed brother and came after Inuyasha, because the other Hanyou lied to her, saying that he did it.

When everything was taken care of, she joined our group and we all found out that this Hanyou, was the person who cursed Miroku's family, played Inuyasha and Kikyo against each other, killed Sango's village and controlled her brother with the use of a jewel shard, keeping him alive with it, collecting the shards before we could and ultimately trying to take over the world. We were all against him and he hated us.

The reason he messed with Kikyo and Inuyasha, was because he was once a human named Onigumo who had been a bandit caught it a horrible fire. He could no longer move and Kikyo was the only person who volunteered to take care of him. He was infatuated and when she fell for Inuyasha, he grew jealous and gave himself to a Youkai to gain power and become a Hanyou. In his bitterness and anger, he messed with them, using his ability to transform into anyone he sees, to kill them. He's the main evil in the whole story, using manipulations to get what he wants."

Kagome shifted and crossed her legs. "His named was Naraku and he had amassed a large amount of enemies. From our group, to Sesshomaru. One, he tried to use Sesshomaru and you don't get away with something like that. And two, he kidnapped Rin on several occasions. Just to let you know, Sesshomaru was once a human hating Youkai but Rin came along and changed him. She is his daughter and no one messes with a Youkai's pack! Naraku created incarnations of himself and had them kill off an Ookami Youkai tribe. Koga, the leader, vowed to avenge his comrades and hunted Naraku for years. One of his own incarnations turned on him, though she couldn't do much because he held her heart and if she outwardly betrayed him, he'd kill her.

We hunted him for three years, trying to search for shards on the way. I was eighteen when I returned to the future one night. Naraku was still at large and we knew the final battle was coming up soon, so if I didn't make it, I would at least have spent some time with my family beforehand, just in-case.

I entered the house and it was very late and very dark. I decided not to wake anyone and would just wait till morning to surprise them. I didn't know that someone was in the house.

Rido couldn't control my mind, but he could control my body and he did what he wanted. When he bit me and had me drink his blood, my body reacted negatively and I died. He left after that.

In reality, I was in Limbo, speaking with a Kami who was telling me that I was destined to protect the jewel for all eternity. Seeing as I was born with this jewel inside me, I was made the Shikon no Miko. They realized an opportunity to make me immortal and did so. They turned me into a pureblood vampire with Rido's blood, venom and my reiki, but removed his influence from me. I took on all the powers he had possessed and was awakened as a new being.

Inuyasha, had come to check on me when I didn't return after the third night and he found my family dead. And when he saw me, he thought I was dead as well, but the I awoke and told him what happened. He then told me what he had seen and decided to lay it on me that I was pregnant. Inu Youkai have very advanced senses you see."

Kagome grabbed her neck where Rido had bitten her, remembering that night as if it were yesterday. "After handling my family issues, I went to the Feudal Era with Inuyasha and sealed the well closed. I would live the five hundred years out and see what happened then.

I was only pregnant for three months and during that time, I trained my new powers, because the Kami had given me some information about purebloods and I decided to finally learn how to be a proper Miko. We killed Naraku, sent Kikyo on to a better place and made peace with Sesshomaru all before the triplets were born. And then we all stuck together when it was over. I allowed Sango's brother to live out his life with his jewel shard and when he finally passed on by natural means, I removed it and completed the jewel. I will not relinquish its whereabouts. No offense, but I can't risk that sort of thing getting out at all. Sesshomaru doesn't even know where it is and I will keep it that way."

Kaname stared at Kagome in awe. "Are you saying that after you were made a vampire, you were still able to use holy powers?" he asked in astonishment.

She nodded, "Yes. Something special the Kami wanted. So, now that you know that I wasn't born a pureblood, are you disgusted?"

"No," he said with finality. "I don't care what species you are, you are still Kagome. You saved my sister and have been a very big help these past few months. Considering what Rido did to you, you could hold a grudge against the Kuran name but you don't. And there is nothing wrong with being a holy creature. I have no issues with Vampire Hunters, my only problem is that Zero is in love with my little sister and I feel that I must protect her from him. I hold no qualms against Youkai. I'm very open-minded and I still like you Kagome."

She flushed brilliantly, "Thank you Kaname. That means more than you will ever know."

He gave her a calming smile, "I am glad that you trust me enough with this information."

Kagome stood and stretched, Kaname couldn't help but be drawn in by the way her back arched attractively. She was perfect.

Kagome collected her blazer and gave Kaname a small smile. Stepping closer to him, she leaned down, unconsciously giving him full view of her chest as she pressed a kiss to his cheek.

"Thank you," she whispered, turning for the door.

"Have a good evening Kagome."

She looked back and smirked, "You as well, Kaname."

He stayed in the same spot for several moment, before standing suddenly and heading for the lavatory. He needed a cold shower and now!

Maria and Ichiru were gone the next morning and Kagome sighed in relief. They were such annoyances and if Shizuka wasn't gutsy enough to remain when they confronted Rido, then she had to leave. With her and Ichiru out of the way, the game was changed. Now that Yuki was a vampire once more and Zero wasn't going to fall into madness and they were together, things were different.

Kaname had to completely go over his original plan, now that everything was different. Between seven pureblood vampires and two pure-blooded Youkai, that was unless Sesshomaru, Inuyasha and Koga got involved, against Rido, would ensure his destruction. Rido wasn't getting out of this easily. And with Kagome and her children's abilities, they had the upper hand.

He could only hope that Rido showed up soon, so they could get the whole thing over with.

But when Rido was gone, would Kagome leave? He didn't want her to go and he needed to start his plan soon. He was interested and knew that she was as well, but she was probably scared of starting a relationship with him.

He needed to be more open with his intentions and get her to realize him soon.

Kagome smiled as Yuki and Yori walked ahead of her, Rin and Shiori. Souten had stayed back the the Academy to spend time with Kietsumaru.

The girls had decided to go on an outing, seeing as Yori already knew about vampires, surprising everyone. So, she was still Yuki's best friend and the two wanted to join the others on a shopping spree.

Kagome paused in her steps as she felt something odd. She looked around, surveying the area and trying to locate where that strange power was coming from. Her eyes land on a little boy who was inching his way toward Yuki.

Taking a closer look, she could see that he had one red eye and one blue eye. Quickly, she made her way over, catching his little hand in her own.

"You need help little one?" she asked.

The boy turned to look up at her, his eyes widening. Something in hr screamed that this was Rido, taking over the boy's body. But she wasn't about to risk a child for nothing. So, she played dumb and fixed him with a sweet smile.

"I...want my...mommy," he said in a small voice.

"Well come on then, let's go find her," Kagome said, picking the boy up and setting him on her left hip.

Shiori and Rin appeared, looking frantic.

"Mother, mother!"

"Mother, these are different times. You can't just randomly pick up children that you see walking on the street and take them home. That's not how it works!" Rin panicked.

Shiori nodded, "Yes, that's illegal!"

She glared at them, letting a deep growl slip past her lips. "He's not an orphan that I'm taking home, he's lost and wants his mother. And since he's a vampire child, he's probably supposed to be at that soiree that the local aristocrats are having. Most of the Night Class are there. I believe Kaname was attending, for Takuma's sake at least."

"And you know where that is?" Rin asked dubiously.

"Yes. I follow the scent of vampires and when I scent Kaname, I know I'm in the correct place."

She then stalked off, leaving the girls standing there.

She looked at the boy/Rido and whispered, "I tend to adopt children left and right and nowadays I can't do what I used to without there being problems. Now, what does your mother look like?"

She didn't feel like walking so much, so she entered a building and climbed to the roof, where she could just hop across the rooftops without issue. He told her what the woman she was looking for looked like and she told him he was cute. The little boy was adorable with the cutest little chubby cheeks.

She sighed when the reached an old abandoned building. "It's downstairs, correct?" she asked.

He nodded and she entered the building slowly, alert for any sort of attack. She could sense and scent several vampires and since she only knew a few of them, she wasn't going to let her guard down.

Kaname's scent drifted by her and she smiled. She was in the right place and he seemed to be hiding from the vampires. Kaname wasn't one for crowds, it seemed.

Music drifted to her ears and she sighed. She loved classical.

Down a long staircase and a vast hall, she came across an open door. When she walked in, she saw a very large ballroom with fanciful decorations and smelled faintly of roses.

All around the room, there were vampires dressed in the most extravagant clothing she could imagine. And they were all staring at her.

She looked at the boy in her arms, "Okay, where is she?"

He pointed and she made her way over to a blonde woman with a boa wrapped around her shoulders. She wasn't pulling it off very well and her makeup looked ridiculous.

"Hello there, I found your son walking around about a mile or two from here," Kagome said with a smile.

The woman stared at her in silence and then curtsied low. "Thank you very much, Milady!" she said respectfully.

Kagome smiled and set the boy/Rido down. "No running off again, okay?" she asked with a stern look.

He nodded and took her hand, placing a kiss on it. "Thank you, miss."

"Have a nice evening."

Kagome went to leave, but was blocked by a blonde woman who was entering the room. As soon as the two laid eyes on each other, the air seemed to tense. Kagome didn't know who this woman was, but she could tell she didn't like the mikopyre.

"And who might you be?" the blonde asked with a superior tone.

Kagome immediately slid into her Alpha female tone and stood straighter, her heels making her tower over the other female. "When inquiring about someone else's name, it is customary to introduce one's self first," she said in her lecturing tone. Something she had picked up from Sesshomaru over the years.

"Sara Shirabuki, pureblood of the Shirabuki lineage. I can sense that you are a pureblood as well, yet I've never seen you before."

"Of course you wouldn't. My children and I have spent our years in the company of Youkai, not vampires."

The room of vampires, whom had all been listening, gasped.

"Mother."

Kagome turned to see Shiori, entering the room. "I came to escort you back to the Academy. Rin took the girls back already," she said.

Sara looked at Kagome. "Aren't you a bit young to have children?" she asked snidely.

"Not at all. Though I do have sons of my own, Shiori is one of my adopted children and I'm proud to say that the centuries have done them all well."

"Kagome, I am pleased to see you here."

She turned to see Kaname standing behind Shiori, who moved aside and let him approach the two females.

"I was saddened when you denied my offer, but I see that you came anyway," he smiled.

"Actually, I found a child who was lost and brought him here. I was about to leave, but I met Sara here."

Kaname nodded to the blonde and placed a kiss to her hand. "It's lovely to see you again, Sara. I trust you are well?"

She nodded, looking between he and Kagome. "And how did you two meet?" she asked with false sweetness.

Kaname gave a low chuckle that had goosebumps running up Kagome's arms. He had such a nice voice.

"Kagome teaches the Night Class. She's very kind and we've all taken quite a shine to her," he explained, giving Kagome a smile.

"It's only because I make it interesting. Nothing else."

The music that had stopped when the two purebloods ran into each other, started up again. Kaname smiled and held a hand out to Kagome, "Would you care for a dance?"

"I'm not exactly appropriately attired for this, seeing as I wasn't planning on attending," she answered, glancing down and her Night Class teaching outfit.

Kaname shook his head, "If you remove the blazer, you'll be fine. Your shoes are perfect."

Kagome was about to decline when Shiori stepped in. "I'll hold it for you, mother. I will be over by Zero and Toga," she said, pointing off in a certain direction.

She sighed and removed it, showing off her pale shoulders. A necklace, which she had received from Sesshomaru one year, adorned her neck. It was of a violet crescent moon and fit perfectly under her collar bone.

"Pardon us, Sara," she said, taking Kaname's hand.

Kaname led her to the dance floor, "Do you know this dance?"

"Yes. However, we're Japanese. Why are we dancing an Austrian folk dance?"

Kaname hummed as they started to moved, hands connected as they took the proper steps as the dance went. "I always thought the Laendler was a very romantic dance."

She flushed slightly. "Do you like romance, Kaname?" she asked as he twirled her in the required circles.

He was right of course. The Laendler sounded very romantic and she liked the stringed instruments as they played.

Kaname smiled as he led her around the dance floor. They were in their on world, ignoring the whispering nobles around them. Kagome liked it she realized. Dancing with Kaname was nice.

When the song ended, the music shifted into a waltz and the two just continued on.

"I'm very glad you're here. I hate coming to these sort of gatherings," he whispered in her ear on a spin.

"Well then, I'm glad I ran into you," she grinned.

The evening carried on and Kagome ended up staying with Kaname. Shiori stayed with Zero and Toga until they left, in which she returned to the Academy with them. Kagome joined Kaname on his way back and decided to tell him about the child/Rido.

"I think it was Rido possessing his body. He had the dichromatic eyes like Rido and the triplets. And he just felt odd. If it indeed was Rido, then he knows about me and that I possibly have pureblood children. And now that the vampire world will pretty much know about me, we have to plan this out carefully."

Kaname nodded, "We will be ready. Thank you for remained at the soiree with me. I truly detest being around any nobles that aren't part of the Night Class. Their family's become too much, especially Asato and the Aidos. Asato wants to arrange a marriage for me with Sara and Aido's father keeps trying to foist his eldest daughter upon me."

Kagome giggled, "You poor soul. I will state this right now, that Sara did not like me one bit and the feelings were mutual. I think she was annoyed at the fact that I stood up to her and refused to be cowed."

"We've known each other for a long time and she has always been like that. She's actually older than I am, but you did not hear that from me," Kaname placed a finger to his lips, drawing Kagome's attention.

When they reached the Academy, Kaname lead her to the Moon Dorm and she poked fun at him over the arranged marriage business.

"I have to find someone to marry. If I do, they'll cease their attempts and I can live a little more peacefully."

"And do you have anyone that you'd like to marry?" Kagome asked teasingly.

Kaname stopped in front of her bedroom door and turned to face her. "Yes," he said, catching her eyes with his.

She flushed under his gaze, "Who? Or am I not allowed to know?"

He crooked a finger and she stepped closer, curious to hear what he'd say.

Kaname leaned down and pecked her on the lips, "Does that answer your question, Milady?"

She nodded, "I think it does, Milord."

"Then if you aren't too opposed to the idea, may I have the permission to court you, Kagome Higurashi Cross Taisho?"

She smiled, "I wouldn't be opposed at all."

A/N: Another one is finally done!

How was it? Let me know!
