They're in the car, driving back to the clinic after grabbing something to eat in a crappy drive thru, just like he likes it and the silence is not as comfortable as it was on the ride to the hill.

Stiles' understands it. But he doesn't like it. He has always hated awkward silences.

"I don't want to fall asleep." He says quietly.

He starts thinking the wolf is so immersed in his own thoughts that he didn't hear him but then he answers with a defeated and broken voice. "I don't want you to fall asleep either."

Derek's POV

"I don't want to fall asleep." His voice cuts through his thoughts and breaks his heart. Stiles voice seems so broken and small. It has nothing to do with the energetic, full of light boy he fell for and it breaks his heart into little pieces to just hear it.

"I don't want you to fall asleep either." His own voice is small and broken, but he doesn't have the strength to fake it anymore, and he doesn't really want to. He knows he doesn't need to pretend in front of Stiles.

A few minutes pass and when they're almost reaching the clinic Stiles speaks up again. "I'm sorry."

Derek feels the tears well up in his eyes. "Hey, it's not your fault." He parks the car and turns his whole body towards the boy. "We'll fix this you hear me? We'll find a way." He pulls the boy to his lap and hugs him while Stiles cries into his shoulder.

"I'm scared." He whispers.

When Derek feels like his heart can't break anymore, when he thinks the pieces are already too small to break, things like this happen and he's proven wrong.

"I know. But you have to trust me we'll fix this." He rubs the boy's back in soothing circles.

"What if I kill someone else before that Derek?" He almost doesn't catch what the younger human said, but he did and that's when the tears fall from his own eyes and he hugs Stiles harder.

"It wasn't you that killed, it was thee Nogitsune, don't forget that. You hear me? And I'm not gonna let that happen. Don't worry, I'll be here. I'll be here."

Stiles doesn't says anything else he just cries some more and after a few minutes, they leave the car and enter the clinic, hand in hand. Everyone's there. They all know he's going to fall asleep soon and they don't know when they'll see Stiles again. If they'll see Stiles again.

And that makes his eyes blur with unshed tears and his throat feel tight.

"Hey! Why the sour faces?" He tries to cleat the mood, but what he gets in response are pity and sad smiles and he immediately wishes he didn't say anything.

Scott walks forward and envelops him in a bear hug, a bit too tight. "Everything's gonna be fine buddy. Just wait and see."

"I know. I trust you." What he doesn't say is that he's afraid of what'll happen while they don't fix it. And by the way Derek squeezes his hand where they're still holding each other, Derek understood.

Lydia is the next and she's almost crying, her eyes are shinning and her lips pressed tight. "Don't do anything stupid before we clean this mess of a situation, you hear me?"

Stiles' laughs because that's such a characteristic thing for Lydia to say. Then he hugs her.

Isaac stops in front of him and it's impressive how much emotion he can see in the werewolf's eyes. They don't say anything to each other, just another hug, and pats on the back. They already know what there is to say, no need to say it out loud.

Stiles and the twins aren't that close, so they just nod. Nothing needs to be said.

Him and Derek go into the office and lay in the sofa there. Stiles' doesn't want to fall asleep, but he's so damn exhausted. Having an evil spirit inside of you is really exhausting.

And he's cuddling with Derek. That makes him feel so much comfortable. "Today was my favorite day." He murmurs into Derek's chest.

"Mine too." He kisses Stiles hair and tightens his arms around him. "I love you."

"I love you." He says back.

And then he falls asleep.

He wakes up and finds himself tied to a chair again and anger starts bubbling up inside him. How dare they doing this to him, when he could so easily kill them. When he's been merciful towards them all? He wants too…

His thoughts are interrupted by the door opening. Scott, Derek, Isaac and Deaton come through it.

And his anger gets even worse. He breaks the ropes that are tying him to the damn chair and sends it flying towards the wolfs.

Isaac instinctively protects the human, Deaton, and the other two wolf out and try to hold Stiles down.

Stiles sends Scott flying backwards, his head and back hit the wall and he falls to the ground. Derek listens in for a moment and relief shoots through him when he hears Scott's heartbeat. Derek goes towards Stiles, but he holds him by the throat and looks deep into his eyes. "You think just because you had a day with your little bitch back, everything's going to solve itself?"

Derek's trying to free himself, squirming under his touch.

But Stiles' the stronger one now. And he has some things he wants to tell this stupid werewolf. "I'm getting a little frustrated with all this interruptions, Derek."

"Well, maybe you should just give up because we're not going to stop until we have Stiles back." Derek growls at him, still trying to break free.

He manages to throw a punch square in the jaw, and Stiles falls back. He feels a pang of guilt, but tries to remind himself that that's not Stiles.

He marches towards him and is going to immobilize him when he turns and kicks his feet, making him lose his balance and fall too.

Stiles is out of the clinic in a second, through the back door in the office. Derek runs after him and they end up in the Hale house.

'Why did he come here?' Derek asks himself.

The Nogitsune starts talking. Answering like he made the question out loud. "I love this place, you know? Such a huge tragedy happened here." He turns to look at the wolf, who's watching him carefully. "So much pain floating in the air, even after all these years."

Derek's shoulders stiffen and he desperately tries to find a way to hold him down without hurting him much.

"You know I have the upper hand here. You don't want to hurt your precious little human, but I don't mind hurting you at all." There's a glint in his eyes that makes him shiver.

"Well, I'm pretty set on having him back, so I'm willing to do anything to bring you down." Well, not everything, but the Nogitsune doesn't need to know that.

"Okay then." He picks a tree branch from the ground and moves to the wolf.

"Are you going to hit me with a stick?" He asks sarcastically.

"Oh, you know, I'm not really going to hit you, I'm just going to-" He stops talking and moves faster than humanly possible and pushes the branch through Derek's middle.

Derek wasn't expecting him to be able to move that fast. He didn't know he could. So he barely moved before the pain shot through him.

"Derek, Derek, Derek. You never learn." Stiles run a finger down the side of his face and stops in his lips. He runs a thumb along his lower lip and locks eyes with him. "You should really have done your reading, Derek. You should never trust a fox. A Nogitsune feeds of chaos, strive, pain. And then you took it from Danny and then from the dying deputy. All that pain, you took it all. "

Derek feels blood in his mouth and pain in his stomach where Stiles is constantly moving the branch to make it hurt more. "Now," Stiles hand moves to cup his face. "Give it to me."

Pain. That's all he feels in every part of his being while Stiles takes it from him.

Then his hand moves away from his face and the pain stops, minus in his stomach, which is nothing compared to what he just felt. "You really have to learn, Derek. You really have to learn not to trust a fox. Because they're tricksters, they'll fool you. They'll fool everyone."

"Not everyone." Another voice says. Stiles looks to his right and there's Deaton. Sticking another needle in his neck.

The Nogitsune huffs in anger but falls to the ground. Unconscious.

Deaton turns to Derek and takes the branch out of him.

Derek growls in pain but after a moment he feels better, the wound already healing. "Was that the same thing you used before?"

"Yes, it's only poisoning the fox. Doesn't kill her, though. And this time it was a smaller portion, so I don't know if it's going to be Stiles or the Nogitsune waking up." Deaton helps him to carry Stiles to the van the vet drove here and they enter the car.

"How did you know we were here?" Derek asks after a few moments of silence.

"Lydia didn't want him to disappear again, so she put a tracker in his clothes while he was unconscious." Deaton's voice has a bit of pride in it.

"Smart." He mumbles, already looking out the window.

They stay silent the rest of the drive. They decide to take him to Derek's loft instead of the clinic. There's less movement there and it's less probable to put in danger unsuspecting people who just want to check everything's alright with their pets.

They secure him in a way that he won't be able to break again and wait until he wakes up.
