A/N: Hey all! So, I know I've been gone a long time (it's a bad habit) and in apology I made this chapter twice as long as usual! :) I hope you like it! But first, let's do some mail.

Arla Logan: *snickers w/you* That little devil!

Lectro Underground: You're bonkers, but it's the kind of bonkers that's wonderful! :) (Hopefully I did well with this chap. 'cause this was a long break... Woops)

AmeliaRoseOswald: Aw, thanks! :3 I didn't do it very soon, but here's an update!

LinkessKeyblade: Aw, you make me blush! \\\ Thank you!

IsaBean: I MISS YA TOO BAE! *cackles* I'll just let everyone guess at what happened there, for I will never reveal! (I have no life either.)

phoenix sad: Phoenix, buddy, it's spelled excuse. What are you talking about? You're already a bear! :D

Alright, with that done, let's move along! (Also, lots of thanks to all of you who have favorited and followed this fic!)

Disclaimer: Young Justice belongs to it's creators and associates, I only own Lethia and whatever's connected exclusively with her.

After making our way through areas I hadn't seen yet, and hopefully wouldn't have to remember right away, we reach the outside world. And, to me, it's beyond beautiful.

"Oh…" I breathe, unable to say much else.

"Isn't it amazing?" Miss Martian squealed.

We were up on a kind of cliff overlooking a large harbor, I could just barely hear the rushing crash of water below us and smell the sharp scent of salt. The water shimmered with the bright light of the lowering sun and a few birds wheeled about above the waves and the boats docked in the harbor, calling to one and other. Wispy clouds were painted a blushing pink with purple underbellies and the rest of the sky was streaked with warm oranges and reds.

I smile, taking in a deep breath of the fresh, salty air and hold it before slowly exhaling. "Yes, it's quite amazing," I reply.

Tension I hadn't known was in my body melts away, leaving me relaxed and serene as I continue to observe the slowly setting sun. I don't know what it was about being out of doors, but it was so soothing. Maybe it was the air, or the sound of the waves and the birds, or just the freedom of being unconfined by walls. Miss Martian had summed it up aptly.

I take a step closer to the edge of the cliff and feel a twinge of some kind of protective emotion come from behind me. Turning my head, I see Kid Flash looking rather tense and his gaze locks with mine. He's nervous, as though I might injure myself by just being nearer to the drop. I smile sheepishly at him, somewhat embarrassed and flattered by how much he worries over me.

Looking back out towards the horizon, I walk over to Miss Martian, who happened to be floating just on the edge of the cliff. Her mood was a bit more sedate now, a strong contentedness. "Miss Martian?" She looks at me, a smile on her face, "Is it alright if I sit here?" I gesture at the lip of rock we were so close to, "It's safe, correct?"

"Of course! I could catch you with my telekinesis if you slip off, so it's perfectly safe."

With that comfort in mind, I drop down onto the rock and scoot forward so that my legs are dangling over the edge in the open air. Smoothing my skirt down, I look back out over the harbor. A moment of silence falls over our little group, but it's not awkward, just quiet.

A warm breeze stirs Robin into saying, "So, Lethia, would you want to stay?"

"What?" I turn to look at him, not quite sure what he meant.

He folds his arms across his chest and looks me dead in the eye, or, at least, I'm assuming he's looking at me since I can't see his eyes behind the mask. "If the League decides you can stay here, would you want to?"

"Of course I want to stay here." I reply, a little surprised that he would ask, "You all are very kind, and I really have nowhere else to go, do I?"

"What do you think you would be doing while you stayed here?" Robin's face is peculiarly expressionless, and his emotions give away nothing of what he's thinking.

Aqualad and Kid Flash both shoot Robin a look I'm not able to decipher before it disappears. I can feel their slight apprehension and agitation at his question, but they say nothing.

Now hesitant to answer, I try to choose my words carefully. "I'm not sure what will be expected of me if I am allowed to remain here with you, but I will do my absolute best to meet those expectations."

I wonder if I've promised too much, if I've offered more than what I have. But Robin seems to be satisfied with my answer. He relaxes, arms going back to his sides and he gives me a short nod before his smirk returns.

Robin turns and leaves, tossing a quick, 'I better get back, stuff to do,' over his shoulder as he steps through the entrance and disappears inside.

"I suppose that I will retire for the evening as well. Good night everyone." Aqualad says, leaving as well.

"I'm going to go back inside, too." Miss Martian floats after Aqualad. "Are you coming, Lethia?" she adds.

I shake my head no. "I'm going to stay out here for a little while, go on inside. I should be just fine." She gives me a little wave, and then it's just Kid Flash and I out in the slowly cooling air.

"You should go inside, too, get some rest." He says, coming over and crouching next to me. "Your body's probably still exhausted." He inspects my face, worry and care in his expression and seeping off of him.

I look out at the horizon just as the sun begins to sink below the waters, colors even more brilliant than before bursting from its impact. After a brief pause, I turn back to him and he's still watching me intently. A sudden curiosity strikes me, and out of compulsion I quietly ask, "Why are you so concerned about me?"

Kid Flash seems almost taken aback by this question, dropping from his crouched position into a sitting one without much grace. A few different emotions flit across his face, chasing each other off one at a time until they settle on a slightly uncomfortable look. Kid Flash replies to my question by way of asking his own. "What do you mean?"

My lips purse together as I give him a hard, knowing look. "It's obvious that everyone has some kind of feeling of concern for me, though I'm not entirely sure about Superboy…" I shake my head, throwing my hands up, "But that's beside the point. You seem to care more, you're more worried about me than anyone else, and I'm curious as to why that is. Why do you seem so invested in my well-being?"

Kid Flash sighs, quickly running his hand through his mess of hair. His eyes stray away from mine as he starts to talk. "I guess the biggest reason is because I found you first."

"Explain, please?"

"Well, you know how we said we found you?" I nod. "We found you here, on the beach, lying in the sand halfway out of the water on your stomach." He waves his hand halfheartedly at the stretch of sand below us. "You looked awful. Your clothes were completely tattered and you were really banged up." He points to his forehead, glancing over at me. "You had a pretty big gash on your head, and there were these nasty bruises and burns on your arms and legs. I was running ahead of the group, and at first, I thought you were just some piece of driftwood or something." He lets out a humorless laugh. "But as I got closer, I realized that you were definitely not a piece of driftwood, so I ran faster towards you. When I got close enough, we made eye contact and I stopped and kneeled next to you. You managed to whisper something that sounded like 'Help' before you passed out."

He sighs and runs his hand through his hair again before continuing. "I yelled back at the others for help and then flipped you over." He looks down at my abdomen and his mouth turns down into a frown. "That's when I saw that huge slice on your stomach. I thought it was amazing that you had even been conscious when I got there with how deep it was." His eyes return to my face. "And it's crazy how fast it's healed. Must be something to do with your race's genetics."

I hum for a moment, mulling over everything Kid Flash told me. "You feel more responsibility for me than the others since you were the first to reach me." I smile, a slight blush creeping into my cheeks. "That's very sweet of you, but I don't like making you worry so much," I murmur.

Kid Flash splutters a little, his face quickly flushing. I laugh, blush receding and smile growing.

"You should go and get some rest yourself," I say, waving my hand behind us, "You don't need to end up running yourself ragged. But I'll stay out here for now."

He stands up, walking jerkily back towards the entrance. When he looks back at me I give him a shooing motion with my hands and he leaves.

Turning back to the view, I realize that the sun is nearly set, its blazing brilliance turned red-orange and nearly engulfed by the waters of the horizon. More blues and purples are starting to creep into the sky, and the stars begin to appear in the darkening hues.

The sun eventually sinks below the horizon and I continue to sit there and stare up at the sky as a stark white moon takes its place among its court of stars. It glows brightly and is shaped like a wide and radiant smile turned sideways, as though its owner is lying languidly on their side and gazing out over the dark lands below it. Staring up into the night, I imagine the stars as blazing, white-hot embers, sparking and shimmering in the velvety black. They try to outshine the sun, to no avail, and they are only marginally more successful in their contest with the moon. The terrifying and surprisingly melancholy thought that one of those stars could be my home flashes through my mind.

My gaze drops down from the twinkling sky and falls to the wavering reflection of the moon on the dark water. Legs swinging idly, a yawn escapes as I focus on the sounds around me. I hear something like chirping far down below me and off to the side. On a whim I open my mouth and answer, imitating whatever was making the noise. An exuberant reply comes after a beat of silence, as though it's delighted to have someone to make music with.

We trade chirrups for a while, each one becoming more elaborate, before I feel that there's someone behind me. With a start, I whip my head around to see Superboy leaning against the rocky wall near the entrance.

Face still impassive and emotions near nonexistence, he remains stock still, looking past me towards the horizon. We stay like that until his eyes flick up to the stars and then down to me. We lock gazes. Staring, neither of us say anything and neither of us make a move to start a conversation. Eventually I turn and look back up at the stars.

There's a pause, his eyes drilling a hole in the back of my head, before, "Go inside."

I look back at him. "What?"

"Go inside," he repeats.

"Why?" I ask, surprised that he would come out here just to tell me to go back inside.

His eyebrows raise a little bit. "You're blue."

I raise an arm, seeing that, indeed, my skin was turning a light blue. Thinking about the chill, I shiver a little, realizing that it was fairly cold out. Looking back up at Superboy, his expression still hasn't changed, and he's still watching me.

The ridiculous jealousy from earlier bubbles up in my stomach, foul and putrid, brought on by his odd mix of indifference and possible caring. In this fit of envy I flop onto my back, arms spread on either side of me, and glare up at the sky with a frown firmly in place. A trickle of confusion comes from Superboy before it's quickly cut off.

Time passes, though I don't know how much. It could have been mere moments or ages spent staring up at the sky as the chill from the stone seeps through me. At some point I start to shiver and yawn alternatively, eyelids drooping, but I continue to lay there.

I don't feel Superboy there anymore, he must have left. Or maybe I'm too cold and fatigued to sense him anymore. Whatever the case was, I was bound to stay out here for the rest of the night. I stop feeling the cold.

After a particularly large yawn my eyelids stay closed. The stars are imprinted on them, and I think I could keep them closed for only a little bit. Just long enough to rest. Just a little bit turns longer and sleep creeps in, snatching me away.

Woohoo! A little over 2,000 words later and now we're here! Comments and criticism are extremely welcome, and I hope you all liked this chapter!
