Disclaimer: I do not own How to Train Your Dragon or Brave nor do own any of the character.

Based on the one shot I did in The Wild Princess and The Dragon Tamer because I had so much fun writing it. If you did read the one shot than you don't need to read this chapter its just the first part of the one shot. The rest of the chapters will be different point of view and edited parts of the one shot.

Also I am sorry but I am bad at accents so Merida/Merduis does have an accent that everyone notices and will comment on, but I will not be writing like she does, its just to difficult for me, so I apologize in advance.

Hicca's point of view

Something was off. Most dragon attacks focus on getting as much food as they can. However, these dragons seemed only very little interested in livestock. This seemed like an actual attack on the kingdom. They were purposely setting fires and killing those they could. 'This was not like any raid I had ever seen' I thought, as Toothless broke up a herd of Deadly Nadder giving Meridus' man time to run away. The dragons are targeting the building and the people, only a few actually going for livestock. 'If this another Queen Dragon they wouldn't be focusing on the village and building, they wouldn't be burning fields just because they can. The Queen wants food, they would be focusing all their attention on the farms, food storage, and the docks.' Toothless dodged a swipe from a Nightmare blasted a warning shot at it. 'If the Queen isn't controlling these dragons, then who is?' I thought as Toothless ran towards the center of the village. There was too much chaos, Toothless and I had no idea where to go.

Toothless tackled a Gronckle that was about to barbecue two soldiers. The Gronckle sneered, but one roar from Toothless had it running off "Are you two alright" I asked, turning to the two men. They looked white as ghost's a few cuts and bruises, but overall fine.

"Yes m'lady" one answered staring at Toothless with a mix emotion of relief and fear.

"Don't call-" I paused scanning the two faces. "Wait...you two went with me to the mountains with the lord and prince."

"Yes m-" he cut himself off "Yes."

"Did you get the vial to the Queen." Toothless slammed his tail against the two shoulders and leaped out of the way as a fireball landed where we once stood.

One of the soldiers coughed the impact of Toothless tail on his chest most likely knocking the wind out of him, but better than being set on fire. "Yes," one managed to get out.

"Did the prince and your lord return with the flower?" I asked, scanning the area. The Nightmares weren't lighting themselves on fire so that was a plus, but I saw no Deadly Nadders and that worries me.

"We don't know" I bit my lip now was not the time to worry about that right now. "Look we need to." Loud screams drowned out my voice. All of us turned to look. The Nightmare's were lighting themselves on fire and the Zipplebacks had appeared. "Oh no," I muttered. There were three Zipplebacks' each with two heads they were approaching in a line, setting fire to anything in its path. The Highlanders were retreating. "Shit, you two I need water."

"What, how-"

"Get me three pales of water that all I need." One of the soldier's opened his mouth as if to argue, but the other elbowed him in the rib to shut him up.

"We will get you your water?" he said running off his friend trailing behind him.

"Toothless we need to separate," I said, only for him to roar at me shaking his head.

"You need to handle the Nightmare, I can handle the Zipplebacks. Otherwise, this whole place goes down in flames." Toothless grumbled to himself, but that didn't stop me from getting off. "The best way to extinguish a Nightmare is with water or dirt and I only know one dragon that can wrestle a Nightmare and win," I said, placing his head in my hands. "We can do this Toothless." He whined, placed his forehead to mine and took off.

"M'lady where is your dragon going."

I looked up the two men were back in each hand holding a bucket of water. "He went to go handle the Nightmare's while I handle the Zipplebacks."

"You can't take those thing on by yourself?" One said, mouth opening and closing like a fish.

"Just follow me," I snapped, already running to where the Zipplebacks were. "One thing you have to know about Zipplebacks. One breathes out flammable gas the other lights it. If the head with the gas gets wet no fire," I explain. "I'm going to distract them, you two need to wet the head I tell you, but wait until I tell you all of the heads to wet. Do you understand?"

"How are you gonna distract them?"

"You'll see, just stay out of the way until I tell you all of the heads." The men answered and took off behind a busted down house.

'Hope this works.' I thought, grabbing the handle of my sword placing a canister inside it. I quickly started to move the gas seeping out little by little until I created a spark in the handle of my sword. The gas now lit turned into a stream of fire, in an S formation. This caught off of the Zipplebacks attentions. I started to walk backward the gas still seeping and lighting it at random times. One of the Zipplebacks was mimicking me. "Far left wet the right head," I shouted, no longer moving. I suddenly jumped forward lighting the gas in front of the middle Zipplebacks face. Like I thought it reared back and tried to attack. "Middle one left head." I backed away again showing that I meant no harm leaning more towards the left Zippleback. This one was harder to read, it wasn't responding to any of the firing techniques and I was running out of gas. 'Damn it which one are you' I thought, trying everything to provoke it. The gas was barely coming out. "50/50" I muttered, "Left one right head." I was completely out of gas. The Zipplebacks no seemed confused and were rearing their heads at me. The two men jumped out from their hiding place and dunked the entire bucket on top of the right head. The two other dragons turned its attention to the soldiers, the other wasting no time ducking the left head as it started to spill out gas. The dragon shook its head coughing as it had swallowed some of the water. However, the third dragon charged at the men both its head colliding into the men. The right head opened its mouth gas spilling out.

"Oh look I was right yay me," I muttered as I grabbed one of the man's' dropped bucket, it had less than half its water, so I better make this count. The dragon was facing away from me, the right head farther from me. 'I hate this idea' I thought, as I ran with the bucket jumping on one of the heads only to throw myself on the right head. Shoving the water and the entire bucket onto the dragon's head. The dragon roared swinging its head violently trying to throw the bucket off of its self. Instead, the bucket stayed on its head and I went flying. I crashed onto the roof of some poor house that was still standing. My back aching from the landing, 'Still not one of my worst ideas.' I thought, rolling into myself as I breathed through the pain. Suddenly something hard landed on the roof next to me. 'Just great' I thought, ready to face a new opponent. Only to see two familiar cat-like eyes "Toothless" I sighed letting out a relieved breath. He cooed rubbing his head into my stomach. I gave him a good once over some scratches that would take time to heal but nothing too serious.

"This is bad Toothless," I muttered, climbing back on his saddle. "There is no way to-"Crash, Boom, Roar. I looked towards the once clear sky. Only to see giant black cloud begin to form, thunder erupting. "A storm" I muttered confused. "Not even on Berk does the weather change so fast." However, the scent of rain was overwhelming even with the smoke surrounding the village and the thunder silenced all the dragons. Each dragon wasted no time in retreating away from the storm. Taking flight and leaving the kingdom seeking shelter from this surprise storm. Toothless stretched his wings ready to follow.

"No Toothless," I said still staring at the clouds "Something not right about this storm and we aren't in the best shape to follow them." Toothless lowered his wings but seemed unhappy with the idea of staying. "We go back to the castle and talk things over with the Queen." Toothless hissed, "I know Toothless I know, but this time we go in together." His shoulders were still tense, but he began to move. We began to make our way to the castle, walking instead of flying. The storm still brewing up above.

When we entered the castle, I wasn't surprised to see the Queen standing in the courtyard waiting for us, but I was surprised to see Boo standing next to her. "Boo," I said, surprised still on top of Toothless. "What are you doing here?"

"Helping where I can. Can't have my favorite customers destroyed now can I?" I was a bit confused with the comment, the clamp of thunder interrupting my thoughts.

"You made the storm?" I heard what witches could do, but I had never actually met one before.

"Was no big deal I just-"

"Where is my son and Lord MacGuffin?" The Queen interrupted, stepping in front of Boo to speak to me directly. Toothless growled a snarl on his face. The Queen was more fearless then I thought other than a slight step back she stood her ground. 'What a Queen wouldn't do for her family' I thought, sliding off of Toothless.

"I don't know when we saw the raid starting I told them to both come straight here."

"The man with the serum came, but neither my son nor the lord has returned. Were you successful."

"We found one flower," I said, scanning the courtyard. "They haven't returned-" A cheer broke out from behind me, the queen and I turned to look. Her son came through the gates, a bit battered and bruised, but overall okay. He smiled at the cheers, sitting pretty on top of his horse. He strode up to us, a smile on his face.

"Looks like the storm was coming," he said all ease and calm.

"Where is lord MacGuffin?" I asked, unamused.

The smile lowered on his face. "What do you mean? I ordered him to come straight here."

"I told both of you to return to the castle," I said, doing my best not to snap.

"I was needed in the dragon raid," he says, his voice already getting defensive.

"You were needed in protecting that flower."

"The people need to know that the royal family-"

"Can protect them? Is that it?" I snapped, "What about curing them? Don't you have a duty to heal your people?" I huffed in annoyance, jumping back on Toothless.

"Where are you going?" Meridus shouted.

"To find Lord MacGuffin before it starts raining and we lose his scent. Come on Toothless." Toothless didn't need anymore ready to taking off outside of the gate. Only to be stopped by two guards. "What is it now?" I snapped,

"Glad to see you're alright milady." I looked at the riders; they were the same guards from earlier. Part of me was annoyed and another was happy that the two made it back all right.

"You two."

"Us two" one replies. "Lord MacGuffin is our lord. Please let us go and help you retrieve him."

"Do what you want, just don't slow me down?" I said, nudging Toothless with my foot, him bolting out of the gate. Neither of us caring if the two followed or not. The scent of rain was hard to ignore soon any trace of Lord MacGuffin would be washed away.

Toothless took us to the outskirt of the village. The building completely destroyed and field devastated by dragon fire. Toothless took us to one of the ruined buildings, just as it started to sprinkle. Toothless speed up and I could hear the two guards doing their best to keep up. Finally Toothless stopped at what I could only guess was a barn. The roof was caved in the middle, the front was completely torn down. Toothless cautiously started to walk towards the building. "Hello, Lord MacGuffin" I shouted, over the now pouring rain, the thunder still going. As we got closer I could hear whispers. "Hello is anyone there we mean you no harm." An arrow whizzed by my head and Toothless wasted no time pouncing on the assailant.

"Get off me" I heard a squeaky voice shout. It was a young boy probably no older than thirteen.

"Toothless off," I said, scanning the area only to see more highlanders in the broken down barn some with weapons. 'Great just great' I thought, Toothless already growling.

"STOP" the two guards busted into the barn "Lower your weapons this lass means no harm." The people look skeptical but did as they were told. "We are looking for Lord MacGuffin, please can anyone help us find our lord."

"He is here," older women with salt and pepper hair and a hard frown on her face said, stepping forward. "Is that thing really safe," she said gesturing toward us. I couldn't help but wonder if she was calling Toothless or me a thing.

"Aye, these are our allies, she has already defended the kingdom twice from dragons and is trying to cure our men. She nor her dragon mean you harm." The people muttered amongst themselves and I slid off of Toothless.

"Please," I said walking slowly Toothless a step behind me "Where is Lord MacGuffin?"

The women looked me over before straightening her back and saying "This way." Even with this building half gone and caved it, it was still a massive structure. "We found him riding back to the castle when he stopped to help us with the incoming dragon. He saved my son."

"How bad is he?" I asked, the people clearing out of our way, but still close enough to make sure we were behaving.

"A large gash to his chest, but nothing too life threatening that is unless it gets infected." The women explained. "Others were not that lucky."

She brought us to Lord MacGuffin asleep on some straw his chest bandaged, but other than that looked alright. "Did he have something with him?" I asked, already a bit panicked.

"Lass," the women says, only to have a small brown haired girl come out of the crowd, the flower in a bucket that she carried. "I'm assuming you mean that Lord MacGuffin said it was imperative that we keep it safe "

I kneeled down not wanting to scare the girl, who seemed hesitant to come any closer to Toothless and I. "It's alright, we aren't gonna bite." Toothless seemed to understand that the girl was scared, so he laid down on his stomach and placed his head on the ground. His eyes going big and playful as he lazily swings his tail. The girl smiles and hands me the bucket with the flower in it. "Thank you, what's your name little one?"

The girl bites her lip "Aina" she says shyly.

"Well Aina thank you very much for taking good care of this flower, it is very important, but I was wondering if you wouldn't mind holding on it just a little while longer for me."

Aina brightened up taking the bucket from me and keeping it close to her chest "I'll take good care of it promise." She says giving me a toothy smile, even with all the soot on her face she was still adorable.

"M'lady-"

"Stop," I said turning back to the guards "I am not a lady nowhere near. It's Hicca and only Hicca."

The guards seem to stare at one another before one spoke: "Okay Hicca, we need to get the Lord out of here."

"He's not moving," I said, walking closer to the lord to kneel beside him. Toothless staying where he was, but tilting his head to watch me "We try to put him on a horse and his wound will open up again, and he may not be lucky enough to survive a second time."

"What shall we do then?"

"First, you two are going to take off your helmet and introduce yourself properly. We fought together and I still don't know your names." The guards were both the same height and the same build and with their clothes and armor the same it was hard to tell them apart. They took off their helmets and it was still impossible to tell them apart. 'Twins, of course, I'd have to deal with another pair of twins.' I thought both had the same face, strong jaws and freckles. Same blonde hair with hazel colored eyes. The only difference I could tell was that one of the brother's eyes was bluer while the other was greener.

"I'm Brett," the one with blue eyes said, standing straight and placing a closed fist over his heart.

"I'm Brent," said the one with green eyes.

"Well Brett and Brent it's nice to properly meet you, now I need one of you to go back to the queen and tell her we found Lord MacGuffin. He's going to need a cart to move him back to the castle."

"Are you sure it's safe?" Brett asked, placing his helmet back on.

"As long as the rain is still here, its safe from dragons. Mother nature is another story," I said.

The twins nodded "I'll go and tell the Queen, my brother will stay with you." Brett says already walking towards the exit.

"As for you miss I didn't catch your name," I asked turning towards the older lady.

"That's cause I didn't give it." She says, her chin held high in defiance.

"Okay then," I said, returning my attention back to the lord. "Whoever stitched him did a good job."

The older women snorted, "I've been stitching longer then you've probably been alive lass."

"I don't doubt that," I said, reminding myself that I need to keep calm and not allow tones and judgments to get under my skin. "Is there anyone else that need medical attention?"

"You know how to heal?" the women asks, disbelief. "I was under the assumption you were a Viking."

"I am," I said, staring this woman straight in the eyes, it took me years to figure out who I was and although I am not just a Viking. I will be damned before I let someone look down at my heritage. "Does anyone need help? Burns? Stitching?"

All I see is Aina raising her hand. "My brother got a bad burn on his arm." She says, still caring the bucket close to her chest. I walk over to the little girl the small crowd slowly stepping towards her as if to protect her from me.

"Can you show me?" I asked, she nodded and extended her hand to me. I took it and could already hear the people's whisper. She brought me closer to the entrance where a dark browned haired women was hunched over a ten-year-old boy.

"Momma, Momma she says she can help." The women looked up and faster than I can blink she was at my side taking her girl's hand out of mine, tugging her away from me. I heard a gasp from behind me and can only think that Toothless has stood up.

"You stay away from us. You and that dragon of yours." She hissed tugging at the girl's hand. "This is all there fault to being with" she seethed.

I bit my lip a bit frustrated at the situation, but I had already expected the result. I whistled and could hear the people moving out of the way for Toothless. I watched as the women became scared, standing in front of her children ready to give her life for them. I couldn't help, but roll my eyes at the dramatics. I walked towards the entrance of the barn sitting close to the entrance. Toothless coming up behind me, burning the ground with his fires before sitting down and I was ready to lean down and rest on him, but then I remembered Toothless was hurt too. I opened the saddle compartment and took out some ointment, bandages, and stitching equipment. Toothless moaned knowing what was coming.

"Yeah yeah I know." I said, "Grr I'm a dragon, I don't need medicine Grrr." Toothless did not seem impressed but flared out one of his wings to inspect. It was a while before anyone came over to talk to us. I was just patching up one of Toothless nasty cuts on his neck.

"I'm sorry lass." It was Brent.

"What for?" I asked, not stopping my work.

"For everything, you don't deserve this much…" he paused trying to find the right word "aggression." The rain was still pouring outside, but the thunder had stopped. "So I'm gonna ask you something-"

"Is this where you ask me why I came here, knowing that these people hate me."

"Maybe," he asks sitting across from us.

"It was the right thing to do, still is," I said, finishing up the patch, going towards Toothless another side. "I mean if it was easy, not really worth doing right?" Toothless stretched out his other wing for me to examine. It wasn't too bad a small bandage here and there. Brent was silent after that and with Toothless bandaged up I walked over to his other side and started to undo his saddle. It probably wasn't the best idea seeing as how we are still seen as hostiles, but it's been a long day, if they wanted a fight, I wouldn't put much of a fight if Toothless wanted to burn this barn down. Toothless curled around me his tail on my lap his wing draped over me.

"Don't think too much on it Brent, we still have a lot to do, it would be better to get just some rest."

"My brother will be back soon."

"All the more reason to get rest while we can," I said, closing my eyes and resting against Toothless. "Never know what tomorrow will bring us."

"Couldn't be any worse then this" I hear him mutter.

"Careful, a situation could always be better, but it could always be worse." Brent was silent, the only noise coming from the drizzle of the rain. Between the patter of rain and the rhythm of Toothless' heart beat i was put to sleep.
