The shadow man

Coffee in hand,

She must stay awake,

Too afraid to sleep,

Afraid of the shadow man.

Night ends and morning comes,

The read down foreshadowing,

The nightmarish storm to come,

Leaving a path of death and despair.

At the office she sits and works,

Sleepless night takes their toll,

She stands up to make his tea,

Everything goes black as she falls back.

Standing in the in-between,

One foot in his realm the other in her realm,

Standing before her for all to see,

The shadow man looking at her.

Reaching out with his hand,

He grabs her at her neck,

Pulling he close, he turns her head,

He bites he until she bleeds.

Screaming, she jerks awake,

Sitting straight up into her lover's arms,

He gently says, 'Don't worry I will protect you',

Looking up at him, she responds, 'I know you will'.
