Hi guys! So, I'm back with a quick – one shot. This was inspired by a tumblr post I saw with everyone tackling Nigel when their teens. So, I did this:

Disclaimer: I do not own KND but, I did get my boyfriend hooked on it. ;)

Six years. Six long years had passed since he had laid on this place. And yet, still the sun shone on the same old run-down school. The same flowers were planted around the same rusty flagpole, and even the same school busses thundered down the street. But, while everything still looked the same; everything was different. Children had grown up, dreams were left behind, and old friends lost. Personalities were sure to change. People changed.

And had he changed? He wasn't sure. The maturity and hard-work that came with growing up had always been his gift. He always was the one with the plan. No, he hadn't changed much. His sunglasses were proof enough of that which, as always, was pushed snuggly on the bridge of his nose. However, his friends were a different matter. Yeas had passed without him and he was unsure if they had remained the same. How could they? The bell rang, jarring the boy. He sighed and pulled his bag onto his shoulder. He began moving slowly toward the high school. And for once, he didn't have a plan.

Fanny raced through the halls, her mind racing. She couldn't believe it. She would be lying if she said she hadn't imagined this day before. No matter what she said, he always had been her friend and a good agent. A group of chattering freshmen stood in the middle of the hall, directly in Fanny's path. Fanny set her jaw; she didn't have the time to deal with freshmen. She plowed through the group shouting, "Out of the way!" The group scattered, yelping.

"Hey!" One of the girls shouted. But, Fanny only continued to sprint down the hall. She turned the corner and frowned. There, halfway down the hall, a group of four sophomores stood. One of the group, tall blond boy was arguing with a tiny, Asian girl. Next to them on the floor, sat a now-slim boy reading a technology textbook. An African-American girl stood near the arguing pair, her arms crossed, and an annoyed expression across her face. The girl looked about ready to snap, and she might have to, if Fanny hadn't skidded to a stop in front of them. Four pairs of eyes landed on her, wide and confused as she said breathless, "He's back."

The boy stood alone in a crowd of once-familiar faces. They talked loudly, paying no attention to him. "NIGEL!" A girl shouted, forcing him to jump. He turned toward the shout and was talked by a blur of black-and-green. Two dark hands caught the boy by the shoulders, supporting him. A blond boy appeared by his shoulder, pumping his fist and shouting. Finally, a brown-haired boy, smiling reached out to the boy. "Hi Guys." His voice was weak and cracked. The group laughed and Nigel found himself grinning like a fool. He laughed because although everything changed some things stayed the same. Kuki was still the sweetest; Wally was still the toughest; Abby was still the coolest; and Hoagie was still the smartest. But most importantly, they were still his friends.

Okay! Thanks so much! Please tell me what you think.

Lots of Love,

Gayle
