Sorry for the delay! Here is the next chapter. Love you guys!

Sam pulled at the cuffs, desperately trying to get free. Blood oozed down his wrists as the iron chafed his skin. The metal glowed red hot.

Dean felt like he'd been hit in the chest again.

"Wh-what?"

Lilith slowly stood up and walked to the window.

"Dean, sweetie, did you really think for a second that I was in love with you? How could you be so naive?"

She stared at her own reflection in the glass before pulling the curtain shut.

"As a demon on the outskirts of Lawrence, I knew I didn't stand a chance attacking the castle gates. You were too strong. But I figured out a different way to get into the palace. Everyone was talking about the two handsome princes who had come of age. I knew no one was getting to Sam, but you…"

She laughed, not the soft, sweet chuckle Dean remembered but a cold laugh that sent a chill down his spine. "You were so desperate to be loved that you asked me to marry you after one day."

Dean struggled to get off the couch but couldn't. He fell on the rug, reaching for Lilith, but she easily evaded him, walking casually to the door.

"You're no match for my brother."

Lilith smiled at him the same way she had the first time they met.

"No, you're no match for your brother."

"You can't get away with this."

"Oh, honey, I already have."

The lock clicked shut behind her.

Bobby, Jo, and Ellen sat quietly around the table in the conference room. As Lilith entered, they rose in unison.

"Well?"

"Is he all right?"

Tears hung on Lilith's lashes.

"Dean is…dead."

Bobby gripped Ellen's arm for support. Jo made a choked sound.

"It was the work of Prince Samuel. He hit him in the heart. We only had time to exchange our wedding vows before he passed."

There was a long silence. Ellen finally broke it, her voice cracking.

"Lilith, you're all we have now. He left you in charge."

Lilith nodded solemnly. "It is with a heavy heart that I sentence Samuel Winchester to death for high treason."

Sam pulled even harder on the cuffs, which stubbornly refused to move. He had to escape. He had to get away from the people he'd hurt. The sound of footsteps in the hallway made him pause, and then struggle even harder.

Lilith and the palace guards stopped at the cast-iron cell door. Heat radiated out from the cell. Lilith heaved a heavy, regretful sigh and unlocked the door.

"Sam Winchester?"

Sam wasn't in the cell. His cuffs were melted and the door was destroyed. Lilith let out a snarl of frustration.

"After him. Now!"

Castiel trudged up the hill, ordering himself not to look back. He did not think about freckles. He did not think of green eyes. He did not think of a warm smile.

Dean…

Cas paused to dust some ash off his trench coat, frowning when the mark didn't come out. He glanced up and gave an embarrassingly high-pitched shriek. Impala was standing in front of him.

"What are you doing here?"

Impala stared at him.

"I'm going back home. You need to go back to Dean. He needs you."

Impala jerked his head at Cas and then in the direction of distant Lawrence.

"He doesn't need me. He's with his true love."

Impala gave Cas a bitchface that would have made Sam applaud, had he been there to see it.

"Look, I want him to be happy. I'm not-"

The sun disappeared. Cas glanced up and gasped in shock. The sky was red. A black cloud was spiraling out from where Lawrence was. Cas flew up to get a better look and what he saw terrified him. Lawrence was burning.

Ash got in his lungs and he fell to the ground, choking.

"Dean!"

Impala whinnied and Cas pulled himself onto the horse, praying he wasn't too late.

"Hurry."
