bc this definitely would have happened. you know it. i know it. for all reason of writing, harry stayed at the burrow until september first. idk why james and lily wouldn't have been at kings cross (you make up why). and who cares what happened to voldy. based on a tumblr headcanon thingy btw. also happy birthday to ron weasley, our king. i probably could have extended more to this story, but bc im very lazy i didn't. oh well.

Flying a car from London to Hogwarts was a mix between a smart move and a terrible one. But hey, why hell not? I mean, they couldn't get past the barrier, Ron's parents could easily apparate to their homes. After all, they didn't want to inconvenience them.

They got in trouble, of course. A broken wand, missing car, detention, and a letter home were all minor setbacks to their first day of Hogwarts. They didn't get to eat the feast or see Ginny's sorting either, which both was a bit of a downer.

It was the first day of class. Both Ron and Harry making it down to breakfast easily, and seeing Hermione again, it was all rather fine. Of course, the post wasn't there yet.

Ron's letter came first, a heavy crimson colour, drawing attention to everyone seated near them. Mrs Weasley's voice shook when the Howler was opened, scolding Ron on all of the trouble it's caused and what will happen if he does it again, his consequences and blah blah blah. The great hall was in laughter, but Harry was more focused on the fact that he had got a Howler too.

He had to open it, so he opened it with caution, arms extended as he tore off the wax seal and waited for the shrieking of his parents. What he got, instead, was well;

"OH MERLIN HARRY! THAT WAS FANTASTIC! I AM SO PROUD OF YOU-"

"JAMES! HE IS IN BIG TROUBLE!"

"WAY TO GO KID!" It came to no shock to Harry that Sirius was there too "FLYING A CAR TO HOGWARTS! YOU COULD HAVE ASKED TO USE MY BIKE, YOU KNOW!"

"SIRIUS HE IS IN BIG TROUBLE! HARRY, YOU WERE SEEN BY MUGGLES-"

"ONLY A COUPLE SAW HIM!"

"YOU BOTH COULD HAVE DIED!"

"BUT THEY DIDN'T!"

"JAME-SIRIUS- DON'T ENCOURAGE IT!"

And on this went, His mum's drawn voice scolding him, interruptions by his Dad and Sirius's encouragement ("THE TRUE SON OF A MARAUDER, PASSING ON YOUR FATHER'S LEGACY! WE ARE BOTH SO, SO PROUD!")

The Howler could have lasted five more minutes, five more days, or even the rest of the school year yet Harry would never be more grateful that it stopped. Looking around the Great Hall, he could hear stifled giggles and full out laughter. At the front was Dumbledore with a twinkle in his eye, and Professor McGongall trying to hide a smile, while Ron was full out laughing, and Hermione had a twitch in her cheek. Harry had a mixed feeling of mortification, surprise, guiltiness, and pride.
