To Emotionless Readers...
Hey readers, it has been a while, hasn't it?
...
To be honest with you I've been delaying this author's note as long as possible and for the reasons, you're expecting. I first began this story in 2014 back when I was still just a kid going through life and trying to get out alive and as myself. So much had been going on at the time that I needed an escape and it was during that time I got an account here on FFnet where I could write all the Mary/Gary Stu's I could want. Starting out my writing was totally amateurish and many of my stories I had deleted overtime when I realized I had no idea where to go with it. Emotionless and The Girl with the Celestial Tattoos were the only ones I spared and have been building Emotionless up the most until this last year where The Girl with the Celestial Tattoos began to shine.
...
The reason for that is because it's been four years since I first started writing here and published Emotionless and during that time period I've done a lot of soul-searching and character development. I'm a legal adult now and I'm glad to say that I like the person I am today whereas four years ago I loathed both myself and my life and was probably one of the most pessimistic people you would have met if the early chapters of Emotionless wasn't a dead giveaway. Believe it or not, Emotionless was supposed to end during the Leviathan War in a depressing manner but my support system (you, reviewers) made me change my mind and I decided I would let Lucy find her way as I wanted to find mine, rather than promptly killing her and everyone else off.
...
I have this entire story figured out but I wasn't the person I started out to be with this story and wasn't sure if it would be fair to my readers to change the story to how I am now. Many of my opinions, writing style, and character ships have changed greatly over time and The Girl with the Celestial Tattoos was where I could write as myself, who I am now, and even then I'm still holding back. War Never Changes is currently my first gay ship and I've decided to rewrite it because by focusing on the romance I had neglected the story structure, and it made me realize with time that Emotionless is just about the opposite of that (and I'm not talking about the pairing) but rather that I've neglected the romance between Lucy and Rogue to focus on the story.
...
Writing "straight" fics has been something I've struggled with because I'm not straight - I'm gay - and the "chemistry" between two women and a woman and a man are completely different which has been making my writing those two (LucyxRogue) a bit out of my comfort zone. I felt that suddenly changing the pairing between Lucy and Rogue to Lucy and Mirajane (my FT Ship) would be horrible to all my reviewers and so I left it alone, just as The Girl with the Celestial Tattoos has no ship for my protagonist Lucy (due to the mixed opinions on one's way of life).
...
Recently I read a brilliant Harry x Daphne story where the plot stayed strong and the budding relationship between the two wasn't forced or feeling fake and that made me smile because I could ship those two without wanting to just cringe during all the scenes between the two. Following this, I was browsing my desktop and discovered the "Future Rogue" photo and was hit with a sense of deja vu of how Lucy would feel attracted to him in Emotionless so many years before.
...
And so, after a year of holding unto Emotionless, I've decided to continue it, at last, keeping Rogue and Lucy's ship strong and the plot continues.
...
I know this news isn't what anyone was expecting and I hope you can all look forward to this change in the future. I have multiple stories I'm currently working on with my writing muse asleep for The Girl with the Celestial Tattoos no matter what I try to do to inspire it... and so I should be able to make room for updates with this story although I'll be giving myself a crash course and refresher for this story first. Know that The Girl with the Celestial Tattoos is my main updating story (even if my muse is asleep at the moment) and War Never Changes is right after (albeit currently being rewritten) but after those, I'll be updating Emotionless. In other words, Emotionless will be updated at random intervals.
...
Because of how the storyline has been going so far Lucy will remain an OP Mary Stu character - sorry, it's too late to change at this point. I know a lot of people were complaining how keeping themselves updated on Emotionless's inner workings was difficult and so I'll try to add some details about what's happened in my Author's Notes at the end of a chapter (future-wise) for those that care to read them.
And for those that care to read this.
...
Thank you, everyone, for all your support so far and I hope you'll give me the patience to see the next update and future for Emotionless!
...
Sincerely,
...
Your procrastinating author,
- Gothic Rain

P.S. For those that are keeping up with reading The Girl with the Celestial Tattoos I am planning a sequel where I "reveal" deleted scenes between Mirajane and Lucy. It'll be just for readers who like that ship while leaving The Original Story untouched with romance as promised. Also, I'll be releasing another story at the end of the original called "The Man with the Dragon Tattoo" featuring our favorite OC finding his own life after being freed from LC by Lucy. So keep an eye out for that and again, have patience with me! Thank you all so much for reading this far! ;)
