Three year-old Jim waited patiently for his mum to get home with his new sister, Lilly. He sat on the tire swing in his backyard. Recently, his dad had helped him build another swing right next to it for Lilly when she was old enough. Jim kicked his feet. Elisa, his babysitter, came out from his parent's house and called him back in. "Jim! It's time to come back inside!" "Do I have to?!" "Yes, it's getting dark!" Jim sighed. He was too excited to get in trouble for disobedience. Jim walked inside, plopping himself on the couch to watch TV. Next thing he knew, his parents were home.
"Is Lilly home yet?" Jim smiled at his mum and dad. "Yes." Jim turned down the TV. "Oh, no need for that." Jim's dad told Jim. "Lilly's deaf." "She's death?!" "No, deaf. She can't hear." "Oh... will that be okay?" asked Jim. He hoped she would be alright. "What do you mean?" asked Jim's mum. "Will she be hurt?" he asked. "Oh, no. We may have to put her in special learning programs, but she will not be hurt." Jim smiled. "Thank you, mum."
