A/N; Sorry if this seems a little abrupt, but I've pretty much done everything I had planned for this story, and a few things that I hadn't. Have a lot of ...stuff... going on right now, so I really wanted to get this done. I hope it's satisfactory. I hope to get back to doing some more TBBT stories in the future, be it one-shots or another extended story. Thank you to everyone who has read, reviewed, followed or favourited this. Oh, and Winnifred is my mom's name, so that's a tribute to her as she is going through a rough time right now, healthwise.
"Mom, Dad! Over here!" Penny called out as she spotted her parents, her sister Jenny and her brother. The three women joined together in a hearty embrace.
"Good to see you again, Son!" Wyatt said with a smile as he shook Leonard's hand vigorously. "This is my son, Joshua," he said," indicating the lanky young man standing next to him.
"Dude!" Joshua said, holding up his fist for Leonard to bump. "Sis told me you were a scientist?"
"Experimental physicist, to be exact," Leonard replied. Despite knowing something of his history, Leonard thought Penny's brother seemed likeable enough.
"I've done some experimenting myself, if you know what I mean," Josh said conspiratorially.
"Josh, behave or we'll send you back." Penny swatted him on the arm then gave him a quick hug and, standing on her tiptoes, a peck on the cheek. "Daddy!" she exclaimed as she wrapped her arms around her father's waist and squeezed him tightly.
First Jenny, then her mother came over to give Leonard a hug and a kiss. Leonard couldn't help but notice how much healthier June looked compared to when he and Penny had last seen her in Omaha, and said as much.
"Why, thank you, sweetie!" June said to Leonard, taking his arm and allowing him to lead her towards the airport's exit with the rest of the family following behind. "I am feeling much more myself, thanks to you and your friend Bernadette, though I do still sometimes get a little run down after a long day." Now that she seemed quite recovered, Leonard found Penny's mom to be very upbeat and effusive. "So, when will your family be arriving?" she continued, breaking into his thoughts.
"Mother is due tomorrow as she made sure to line up some guest lectures for the time between now and next weekend,"
Leonard replied. "My father, sister and brother will be here a couple of days before the wedding.
"Lectures? Um, that sounds very... practical?" June said, trying to sound reassuring.
"At least that way she'll be here for the wedding," Penny said from behind them with more than a hint of sarcasm.
"Now dear, I'm sure Beverly is very happy for you both."
"Right. Well, I am Sheldon approved," Penny replied, sharing a glance with Leonard. She was still stung from Leonard describing that particular skype session to her. Home-girl, indeed!
June leaned over to whisper to Leonard. "Sheldon? He's the whackadoodle, right?"
"There was never an actual diagnosis, but yes."
As the group made their way up to the fourth floor of 2311 North Los Robles Avenue, Leonard and Penny both being a little evasive about why they had to climb the stairs, Leonard explained the sleeping arrangements. "Jenny, Howard and Bernadette have room for you at their place and I believe Joshua said he'd be comfortable on whatever couch was available. Amy has agreed to waive her weekend sleepover privileges at Sheldon's apartment for the duration (this caused Penny's family to share questioning looks,) so Wyatt and June will be using my former room there."
Leonard gave the door of apartment 4A a perfunctory before opening the door and leading the clan in to be greeted by Sheldon and Amy standing side by side. After introductions were completed, Amy offered to show Penny's parents to what she was increasingly thinking of as her room.
"It's so gracious of you to allow us to stay here, dear," June said in thanks.
"Please think nothing of it," Amy replied as she led them down the hall, "It only required the addition of a minor codicil to the existing relationship agreement." Wyatt and June followed her with expressions of mild befuddlement.
For the most part the wedding went off without a hitch. Everything was perfect, with the guys looking sharp in their tuxes and the girls very fetching in their dresses. Raj had done a fantastic job decorating the venue. But all this paled in Leonard's eyes when the wedding march began to play and he watched Penny coming down the aisle on Wyatt's arm, resplendent in her perfectly refitted gown. To him she was the most beautiful sight ever beheld by man.
The time came for the exchanging of vows. First up was Leonard, who managed to make it through to the end without an Asthma attack. Penny didn't have to get out the inhaler she had stashed in her bouquet, just in case. Then it was Penny's turn.
The officiant intoned "Do you, Penelope Winnifred..."
"You know," Sheldon declared in a whisper loud enough for Penny to overhear, "In all the years we've known her, that's the first time I've heard her middle name!"
Penny glared at him, fervently hoping he would burst into flames at that very moment. How dare he screw up HER day! The unwelcome distraction caused her to lose track of the ceremony, until she heard Leonard urgently whispering her name. "Uh," she looked to Leonard, her eyes wide in panic. Leonard mouthed the words I do at her. "I do!" she said, recovering her wits. "I really, really do!" There was a collective sigh from the onlookers.
The officiant looked to Leonard who grinned and gave a brisk nod of his head. The officiant shrugged and continued; "Kiss the bride, you may." Before Penny could protest him sneaking this bit of nerdiness into the ceremony, Leonard pulled her to him for a passionate kiss, to the enthusiastic cheers of their friends and families.
The End.
