Chapter 8
The sky was pretty cloudy. Sad, since it had been so sunny the days before. The dark haired girl sneezed softly, shovelling her feet along as she walked down the bitter-cold street. She was so damn thankful that her mother had suggested to her to wear the new zipper-hoodie she had brought Ume the other day. It was so comfortable, soft and fuzzy. Caressing her skin gently. It was dark green with grey sleeves, with an pale green hood, all of which brought out her eyes. Gently rubbing her hands together in hopes to warm them up, Ume tied her black locks back with the green ribbon. She paused, her eyes glancing up at the soft cloth, her cheeks burned as her heart thumped loudly. The memory of a certain blue-haired boy presenting it to her. Over the past few weeks, she had grown closer to Aichi. It amazed her so much, that if possible, she had fallen in love with the boy even more. Sighing softly to herself, tidying her hair, she glanced into the window class next to her. Her round eyes peering up at the green ribbon. It stood proudly in her locks, spiked out like bunny-ears that looked to be twitching ever now and then. Her eyes lowers slowly, her cheeks turning a bright red colour, she's excited and worried about today, she couldn't wait to see the card-battles, to see if Card Capital gets accepted into the tournaments, but yet, her stomach felt funny. She felt like something was going to happen after all this, that something big was coming. That this was just the edge of a storm.
Grunting, Ume shook her head. Wanting desperately the thoughts to leave. The girl had a horrible feeling that she's might lose Aichi, that something was going to happen to the boy. Finally freeing herself from her thoughts, the raven haired girl turns around. She tugs gently on her hoodie, her white and green frilly shirt fluttered from underneath her unzipped hoodie, despite wearing the hoodie, she had stupidly decided to wear her jean shorts. Lightly hitting the side of her head, Ume scowled to herself as she shivered from another bust of cold-air. "Why is it so cold?" she complained loudly.
"The broadcast says it'll get better." Ume lifts her head and smiles weakly at Shin. The spiky haired man stood outside his store with Sis-Cat sitting happily behind him, ears twitching slightly. The dark haired girl walks closer to the man, she hums happily. "Thank god." she breaths out making the man laugh and ruffle her dark hair gently.
"Everyone is waiting for you inside the store. They were worried that you wasn't gonna turn up." he snickered as the girl pouts and tilts her head to the side in thought. "Anyway. What do you think?" Shin grins, his glasses flashes brightly, catching the sun light. Ume blinks her eyes and turns to find a sign hanging on the glass doors of Card-Capital. She scans the fancy writing before giggling. "It's crooked."
Shin lets out a loud groan as Sis-Cat meows in agreement. "Aww come on. I've been out here for almost an hour!"
Ume laughs nervously, she steps back slightly with a sweat-drop. "Um. The sign itself is pretty." she offered, crossing her arms behind her back and slowly, walking backward into the store still laughing awkwardly. Twirling around on the balls of her feet, Ume lets out a breath of air from the warmth that quickly hugged her when the doors closed behind her. "It's so warm~" she sang to herself, tilting her head to the side with her eyes. "Ah."
"Morning." a deep voice called out, so low that she almost missed it. Ume's green eyes flutters gently as she was snapped from her dream-state, she turns her head around to look at the table to the side. Sitting with his back straight, his right elbow was resting against the wooden table with his head in his hand. His light green eyes closed with his brown locks spread across his face. "Oh. Good Morning Kai." Ume greeted, almost skipping around the table to sit in front of him. Happy-go-lucky, cheerful smile on her face. "You look…jolly." she snickered to herself while Kai simply opens his eyes to look at her with a low snort.
"Jolly?" he question, watching as Ume shrugs innocently.
"It fits."
Kai's brown eyebrow lifted slightly. "Right. Jolly." he muttered, a small smirk curling across his pale lips. "You're a very confusing girl. Hikari." Kai spoke, lifting his head from his hand to look at Ume with somewhat narrowed eyes, as if he was judging her, looking into her soul. He shifts slightly forward. "You like to smile don't you." he snorted again.
"You love Vanguard, yet you don't play it? You don't even have a deck. Have you ever played a game before?"
Ume stares blankly at the brunette. She tilts her head with another innocent smile. "And you. Mister Kai~" she began, teasingly. "Are always gloomy. You never truly smile. You don't love Vanguard, you dislike it but yet tolerate it. And I like to smile. If you smile, good things will happen." she spoke, with a 'serious' face which actually looked like a 'puppy' face. Kai could only stare at the short girl with surprise. Yes. Taishi was right. Hikari Ume was certainly a strange girl and she was interesting. She had certainly gained a little of his attention.
"So then, is everyone ready to go?" Shin asked, stepping into the store. Ume turns her attention away from the brunette sitting across from her to look around the store. Her cheeks flushed pink from seeing Aichi standing across the store, his small body jumped when Shin spoke. His head quickly turns to search around the store, his blue eyes stopped on Ume making the girl shyly look to her lap with a small smile. Aichi blinks his blue eyes and quickly returns them to Shin. "Um…w-where's Misaki?" he asked softly, tilting his head to the side, his blue hair bouncing. "Oh. She's gonna meet us there. Apparently."
Ume hums as she looks at the van. It was green with a cream white roof. Tugging on the edge of her sleeve, she climes into the van and sets on one of the white leather sets. "I didn't know you could drive Shin." she snickers, resting back against the cushion. Shin looked at her with a grin. "It took me awhile. But I finally got my driver's license."
"How long?" Kamui asked, buckling behind Ume. His red eyes narrows slightly at the green haired man. Ume laughs more while Kamui snorts and crosses his arms.
Shin shrugs innocently. "You don't want to know." he mutters, his glasses shining brightly as he turns his head to the side. "Everyone in? Then here we go." he cheered, turning the keys.
Laughing softly, Ume sweat-dropped and looks out the glass. The van wasn't going so fast. "Can't this thing go faster?" Kamui grunts loudly, kicking his legs and leaning his head against the back of Ume's chair with a pout. "It's like…going at the speed my Grandma goes…Not very fast!"
Ume switched her attention from the front to find Kamui helping Aichi re-form his deck. "Hmm…If you're gonna put a new Grade three in, then you should take one out. Or you'll have some real balance issues and you don't want to end up like Morikawa do you?" Kamui asked seriously, looking at the boy sitting nervously next to him. Aichi's blue eyes blinks a little and he shook his head with a sweat-drop forming on the side of his head. "I thought so."
Sighing softly to herself, Ume turns her head back. She glances at Kai, sitting next to her with his head resting against the cool glass. Ume couldn't help but admire the way the light from outside captures the brunette's features. His brown hair gently caressed the cold glass. Unaware of her cheeks darkening, Ume simply sat there and stared. Noticing she was watching him, Kai turns his head in her direction only to have the girl blush in surprise and snap her head back around to look out her window again, her heart thumping harshly in her chest. "I can't believe I just did that!" she thought to herself in embarrassment. "I have to think of something to distract myself!" her green eyes flickers around desperately before landing on Shin. "H-Hey Shin. What are yah' gonna call the team?" she questioned, generally in curiosity.
"Hmm?" the man looks her through the mirror. His glass glows brightly. "Well. I was thinking of Quadrifoglio. What yah think?"
"Quadrifoglio?" Kai slowly repeated with a frown. He looks up at Shin with half-lidded eyes. A little interest.
Ume crosses her arms, she tilts her head to the side in thought. "Ah." she began, gaining the boys attention. "Four-leaf clover! Like in Italian. Right Shin?" she questioned, tilting her head to the side while the man laughs and nods his head. "Right on the nail Ume!" he smiles brightly as Ume's eyes glows. "Oh!" she gasped and looked at the three boys. "Misaki. Kamui. Aichi and Kai." she spoke, counting them off her fingers while nodding each time she spoke their name. "The four of you are so strong~ All you really need is a little of luck." she explained.
"That's team Quadrifoglio." Shin spoke up gleefully. Hands tightly and firmly on the wheel. "There's nothing luckier then a four-leaf clover."
Aichi's bright blue eyes blinks a little, his lips presses into a tight line. "So that's the name o-of our team t-then?"
"Yeah! I thought about calling you guys Team 'Card Capital' but that doesn't sound nearly as cool, does it?"
Ume chuckles softly, she shook her head and looks back at Kamui. The small black haired boy sat with wide red eyes, his hand shook as he desperately tried to say 'Quadrifoglio' properly. Only to end up short by repeating 'Quadrlae' "Gha! It's too hard!" he finally snapped, throwing his tiny fists around with annoyances.
"Haha. Then how about we shorten it. How about Team Q4." Ume suggested happily. Kamui's red eyes sparkles as they look at him. "Team Q4?…Hey, that sounds really cool! Hey! Oneesan? Doesn't that make you the 'Team Q4 Nurse'!" he spoke with a wide grin, sliding his hands across the air as he made his voice deeply to add effect. Ume blushes brightly and lightly waves at him. "How about Team Q4 Medical." she mumbles as Kamui tilts his head to the side in thought. His arms crossed tightly. "That does sound cooler…Okay! Team Q4! So cool!"
Aichi lets out a soft laugh, he nods his head softly. "Y-Yeah. It does." he smiles at Ume who returns it with her own nods.
"What about you Kai? What do you think?" Shin asked.
Kai sighs, his eyes opens once more and he slightly lifts his head from the window. "The name doesn't matter."
"That settles it." Shin hums, suddenly shifting in his set and pulling on the gears causing the mini-van to swiftly speed up. Kamui gasped and clung onto the set, Ume stared out the window with wide eyes, watching as the trees spun past. "S-Slow down! I g-get car-sick!" Aichi cried, trembling in his set from the speed. "Me too!" Ume added in, her face growing pale. "You wouldn't…" Kamui mumbled softly, looking between the two paling teens. "If you feel it coming…make sure you're facing forward." Kai muttered, without lifting his head from the position he was comfortable in. Ume blinks and laughs, looking at the back of Shin's head. She sat directly behind the driver.
"Hey."
Ume breathed deeply, peering out the glass window. Her green eyes widens at seeing a building with a red 'Vanguard' banner hanging on the front. "Is that it Shin?" she asked excitedly, slightly bouncing on the spot while the man laughs and nods. "Whoa!" she couldn't handle the burning excitement boiling deep in her gut. Ume had never seen or been to a National Vanguard Tournament, she was so over whelmed with the feeling. Ume was so giddy, she couldn't keep the smile off her face as the van pulls up in front of the building. It stood high and mighty, a small stream of sun-light peers through the bitter-cold clouds in the sky.
"Is t-that really w-where the t-tournaments will be held?" Aichi asked, slowly stepping out of mini-van after Kamui. The small blue-haired boy trembled from nervous, but yet his own excitement. His hands shook lightly and clenched a bit, he bites his bottom lip gently. "It's s-so…" he frowns, unsure of what to say, the words got caught in his throat. Ume's face turns a bright red colour, she gently steps forward and takes Aichi's right hand in hers. The boy glances at her, he smiles thankfully making the raven haired girl smile in return, her cheeks getting hotter. Aichi squeezed his hand gently in return, his own cheeks growing a dark pink colour. "S-So…we g-go in now?"
Ume nods her head eagerly. When the two steps through the sliding glass doors, her heart leaped into her throat. There was so many people around, she had never seen so many people in one place before, card posters were everywhere. A massive cardboard-cut out stood to the side, the cut-out was of a boy with spiky hair, the boy was from a very popular show on television. His hair was amusing, something Ume herself had never seen before. He was short, probably shorter then Aichi, which was pretty impressive. The cardboard boy had golden locks spiking out in front of his face, black and purple spikes could be seen behind his golden locks. A pair of big and impressive purple eyes were gazing down at her with a soft and warm smile. He had pale skin was dressed in what seems to be an high-school uniform, it was dark blue and his coat was un-button and was spiked out around his hips. What caught Ume's attention was the glittering golden puzzle-box hanging around his neck. The big purple words was imprinted underneath the boys feet spelt 'Yu-gi-oh' Ume pouts, she swore that Shin had a few poster of this show in his store. Grunting to herself, she turned her head to find more posters of 'Yu-gi-oh' around the hall. The hall itself was impressive, it was glasses with pale blue walls, a big Vanguard battle table was in the middle, a machine that she had seen once before. The machine that Aichi had battled on with that blonde haired girl. "This is your first tournament, right?" Ume turns her head around to look back at the small dark haired boy, his crimson eyes glows as they look between the two.
"Um…y-yeah…I didn't think it w-would be in such a b-big place." Aichi smiles nervously down at Kamui. Ume hums in agreement, her big green eyes scans around the hall once more. Many dark blue doors littered everywhere, she could only wonder what was on the other side. Flyers was hanging on the walls of movies to come, movies of another popular card-fight show, or something like that. Light blue and white banners hangs from the clings. Ume blinks when she found herself being pulled along gently by the hand, Aichi walks with Kamui to the machine standing beautiful in the middle. It shines from the lights above. "W-What is this?"
Kamui grins widely, he looks down at the large pad in front of him. The pad had the image of a Vanguard Battle field imprinted on it. "It's a Motion-figure system! It uses grams to make 3D-images of a card fight!" Kamui explains excitedly, lightly hopping on the spot. "Playing a match on this would blow your mind."
Ume hums softly, her big green orbs looks around in thought. "Aichi-kun." she called, gaining the boys attention. "You've played on this before. Remember?" she gasped out, her eyes widen in thought. Aichi lifts his head, his lips presses in a line as he hums in thought. "Umm…Oh yeah!" he yelps, leaning forward to look at the machine. "I almost f-forgot about that." he admitted bashfully, looking at the girl who laughs softly. "I played on a-a machine that looks e-exactly like this."
"That must have been the card-shop that you guys went to right?" Shin asks, his hands on his hips. Tilting his body forward, his square class glows brightly with mystery. "Wasn't it called PSY?"
Aichi's blue eyes swirls with light and emotion, he lifts his head up to look at Shin. "Y-Yeah…that's r-right."
"Oh right~" Kamui cheers, leaping on the spot excitedly. "A store that has one! So awesome! Why don't you have one for Card-Capital?" he pouts, snapping his head around to look up at the green haired man.
"…Because it costs more then the store itself…"
Ume lets out a soft sound from the back of her throat, her eyes scans the area around them once again. "Oh." she blinks when the machine in front of them began to glow and a bright glittering image appeared. "Good afternoon. Ladies and Gentlemen!" a set three female voices sang out. Ume just stared, her eyes wide and her mouth open. She couldn't believe it, was this real? In front of her was three females she remembers very well, all of them makes her pale in comparison. Glancing around, she grumbled lowly upon finding many people stop to look at them.
"Kourin, Rekka and Suiko. Together we make Ultra-Rare!"
"U-Ultra-Rare?"
"Sounds kinder cheesy…in a way…"
"U-Ume-chan!"
"Well, it's true!" The short dark haired female snorts loudly, her arms crossing tightly over her chest. Her pale lips presses into a frown. "Look at that smile! It's so fake. She's like a whole different person now." Ume grumbles, looking at Kourin's wide smile. Aichi blinks his round blue eyes, he hums softly and tilts his head up to look at the golden haired female once more. "N-Now you mention it…s-she isn't the same person back in P-PSY." he admits with confusion. He shook his head and whined softly. "What w-was that about?"
Letting out a soft hum, Shin looks down at the guide book in his hands. "The system says they're an upcoming pop-idol group. Apparently they're quite popular, but I've never heard of them." the man shrugs, somewhat innocently and lowers the book. "Have you guys?"
Aichi and Ume tilts their heads around to look up at the green haired man. "Yeah. W-Well…s-sort off." Aichi says softly, his eyes shifts to the side in thought.
"My darling Kourin!" a familiar voice squeals out, gaining the twos attention. Ume lets out a soft 'er' with her eyes narrows and her mouth hangs, Aichi blinks repeatedly at the certain teenager boy pressing himself up against the machine. "Is that Morikawa?" Ume asks slowly, her head tilted to the side. Morikawa hand his hands presses against the cool-glass with his round red eyes widen. Izaki standing behind him, looks around nervously. He laughs awkwardly as he grabs Morikawa's shoulders tightly and tries to pull the boy away, away from everyone's eyes. The raven haired teen, groans and shoves Izaki back. "Hey man! I'm trying to talk to my girlfriend! So keep quiet!"
Ume sighs to herself, shaking her head. "Since when was Kourin his girlfriend?" she mutters to herself, face palming her forehead. Watching as Morikawa goes into a dreamy-state about the blonde haired female. "Shhhh, Ume-chan. Y-You'll break his d-dreams." Aichi whispered with a playful smile. Ume lets out a soft giggle. Aichi sure has grown more confidence, before, the boy wouldn't have been able to look anybody in the eye, much less creak a small joke. It made her feel warm, Ume couldn't help but smile wider at Aichi.
"Knock it off Morikawa!" Kamui finally snapped loudly, watching as the blonde fades away leaving behind the love-struck teen. Ume hums and looks off to the side with a small smile. This is gonna be interesting.
"Oh. So you're finally here. Huh?"
Aichi nods shyly. "Y-Yeah. I didn't know y-you two was coming…" he admitted bashfully.
"You think we'd miss the chance to watch you in the regionals? We'll be cheering you on the whole way." Ume blinks, she tilts her head to the side to see Taishi and Kamui's two little friends. She beams brightly and waves at them. "Miss me Little Red?" Taishi called over to her, making said girl sweat-drop. "Come on Taishi. Call me by my real name!" she whimpered, her head flopped down when the blonde shook his head gleefully. "Jerk."
"Kamuiiiiiiiiiiii!"
Gasping, Ume jumps when a small blur of brown zapped past her and ramped directly into the short raven haired boy. Kamui cried out at the top of his lungs as he was fell to the ground with a certain brunette hugging him tightly. "I missed you so much, my love~" she squealed out, shaking the boy by the shirt.
"Who's this girl?"
Ume giggles when Nagisa suddenly snaps her head around with a somewhat serious expression on her face. "Listen up chums. I'm Nagisa and Kamui's my…" she giggles herself, placing her hands flat against her cheeks. "My boyfriend~"
Morikawa stared wide eyes at the small girl. "N-NO way!"
"He sure is popular with the ladies, too bad it isn't the same with us."
"Speak for yourself my friend, in case you've forgotten. I'm in love with the most beautiful girl in the world. My Kourin and I couldn't be happier!"
"I think you've finally lost your mind."
Ume looks off to the side with a sigh. "He does know that she hadn't even said one word to him, right? I can't really call that a relationship…" she grumbled softly, shaking her head when Taishi placed his left arm over her head and leaned against her. Using her as a leaning-post again. "What's wrong?" the blonde blinks down at her when she pouted and looked up at him. "Well. Other than the fact you're using me as a post, I've just realized it's been a long time since you've done that." The raven haired female shrugs innocently. Ume yelps when Taishi suddenly playfully hugs her. "Aww you missed me~"
"Um. Ah. You wish!"
"Long time no see." A deep voice called out. Turning their heads, the group found a familiar male walking up to them. He had tan skin with pitch-black hair pocking out of his red head. "I'm surprised you decided to show up." The man smirks, looking down at the small burette. "Either you're brave or not very smart."
Aichi blinks slowly, he breaths deeply as he looks at the man. Two other men steps up behind him. "T-Team Handsome…huh?" Aichi pouts slightly as he tilts his head, watching as Gouki scans each and every one of his team-mates. "So this is who he decides to play with? Over us?" the dark skinned male thought, clenching his teeth as he snorts. "Ha! Well look at this bunch of scally-wags. They aren't even in the same level of team handsome!" he sighs, shrugging helplessly as his two team-mates laughs.
Ume frowns, she puffs out her cheeks with annoyance. "Gouki-" she began but was cut off when Kai swiftly stepped in front of her. His hands in his pockets, he smirks and looks to the side, with his eyes closed. "Too bad it isn't a costume contest."
"What did you say!"
Biting her bottom lip to prevent herself from laughing, Ume had to agree. Gouki didn't exactly dress normal. "W-Wait. Hold on." Aichi squeals, stepping between Kai and Gouki and held his hands up when the male began to walk towards Kai. "You c-can't fight in here." He said desperately, glancing between the two boys glaring at each other nervously. Gouki growls softly before sighing to himself. "We're all here for the same reason. Listen. I don't know who their gonna match us up with out there. But you guys better not lose until you face us!"
Kai snots, his green eyes glances back at Gouki. "Same goes for you."
"Ha! Gotha get the last word in huh? I like that." Gouki grins widely, showing his white teeth. "Let's go." He calls to his team-mates, turning and leaving with them trailing behind. "Good bye for now, my love!" Nagisa squealed, waving at Kamui as she skipped after her brother. The spiky raven haired boy's friends laughs nervously as they waved after her, one of the holding Kamui's arm and making him wave goodbye also.
Ume lets out a breath she hadn't noticed she was holding. "So much for a peaceful start." She sighs to herself. She walks forward, making Taishi quickly balance himself to prevent himself from stumbling to the ground. Ume lightly elbows Kai's own arm. "Try not to get us thrown out for starting a fist fight next time." She groans softly, running her hand through her dark hair. Pouting at the smirk the brunette sent her. "Kai! Why are you so frustrating!" she snaps, racing after the brunette who had already began to leave her behind. Said boy simply kept the smirk on his face as he walks through the large doors into a massive hall. Ume stops as she enters, her green eyes scan the hall, and so many people littered the massive room. A wide stage was at the front.
"Our computer is about to randomly select three games for the first round!" a man calls out, holding a mice. He stood on the stage with massive screen next to him; he was dressed nicely in a navy blue suit and tie. Ume hums as she rocks on the back of her feet, standing with her team. She looks around at the other teams; she found that most of the teams had a medical too. To be honest, she wasn't sure why Shin had chosen her to be Q4's medical, she didn't know anything about it, but then again, Vanguard is just a card game. It can't get seriously bad…could it? "But!" the man began, gaining her attention once more, Ume saw quite a few faces fall with annoyances. "Equally important. I still have to introduce myself to all you lovely people! Call me MC!"
"Nobody cares what your name is! Just hurry up and tell us who will be playing in the first round!" Ume sweat-drop, she ran her hand though her hair once more. "Was…w-was that Morikawa?" Aichi whisper to her, Ume laughs nervously and nods. "He's impatient."
The man on the stage didn't look fazed; as if he has met people like Morikawa all his live. All what Ume knows, he might have? "Without further ado, two teams facing each other in today's regionals qualifies! Will be!" the male voice carries out as everyone stares up at the screen intensely. Ume's eyes widens when their team-name pops up.
"W-We're playing first round…" Kamui breaths out softly, shifting his weight from one foot to the other. Aichi tilts his head in thought, his blue eyes slowly looks around the hall. "I w-wonder who Team Black M-Magic is?" he muttered, looking back at the other team's name that glowed on the screen brightly next to their own.
Ume frowns; she felt a cold chill go up her spin. Turning around, she shuddered upon finding a group of men standing almost directly behind them. All dressed in pitch-black cloaks. "Guess they don't know…Halloween was last mouth…" she whispered to herself, staring blankly at the males, each one had a luring smirk on their faces. "S-So who are you guys?" Kamui almost whimpers out, his voice creaking as he spoke.
"That should be obvious by now." One purred out, while the others began to introduce themselves. "And together we-"one began but was cut off when Aichi shook his head. "O-Oh wait. I think I g-got it! A-Are you our opponents? Black M-Magic." Kamui blinks his red eyes before smiling and looking up at Aichi. "Of cause. I mean there are three of them and they're all wearing black robes." He laughs as Aichi nods in agreement. "Um..Guys?" Ume sighs pointing ahead. "I think you've ruined their introduction." She chuckled low, watching as the three robed male crouches down together. If they could they'd probably would have had a dark cloud over them and rain, oh and music. "O-Oh no. I'm r-really sorry!" Aichi gasps loudly with Kamui nodding. "Yeah. We wasn't trying to rain on your parade!...So why do you guys dress yourselves like that?"
"I'm glad you asked. You see we-"
Aichi hums in thoughts before giggling. "Going to a c-costume party?" he called out before gasping and covering his mouth. "You did it again!" one the men cried out while Aichi laughs nervously and bows. "I'm S-Sorry."
"Yo. Black Magic. Your Mum called, she wants her curtains back." Morikawa sighs, resting his head on his hands. Leaning over the rail to lazily peer down at them. Ume groans she face-palms herself. "Why am I friends with him?" she thought to herself gloomy.
"Curtains! We'll have you know were tailor made for our Vanguard team!" one of the team-members spoke, his eyes harden as they look back at the spiky haired male staring down at them with bored red eyes. "Oh really? So then, that means you're a bunch of grown men that likes to dress up like wizards." Morikawa chuckled low, while Izaki sighs next to him. "You probably wouldn't be complaining if they were dressed like Ninjas."
"Yeah. But they aren't dressed like Ninjas no are they? These guys are just Halloween rejects."
Ume hums to herself, tilting her head back in thought. "Wouldn't it be cool if Mr. Mark was here. Ah. My ninja player. Good times-good times." she sighs to herself, sounding a lot like an old woman at that moment, shaking her head. Kamui blinks and looks at the girl. "Um…Oneesan…you do know that was just last week…right?"
"Oh no~ I think these guys might actually be wizards." Ume frowns, she lightly scratches the back of her head as she looks up at Morikawa, she glances between him and Team Magic with a sweat-drop appearing on her head.
"Did you really just say that? How old are you? I think you just missed your nap-time." the men chuckled, looking up at the 15 year old. They smirked and looked at team Q4. "Our power is not something to take likely. We'll see you on the battle field."
Morikawa grins, he leans over the rails. "Will be looking forward to watching you lose!"
Aichi blinks his eyes shyly, he breaths deeply as he tilts his head thoughtfully. "Well…a-are team sure h-has an interesting f-first match." he mumbles softly, his lips curling into a tiny pout. Suddenly he gasps and looks around. "W-Wait. Has a-anybody seen M-Misaki?" he questioned worriedly.
"Yeah." Shin nods his head, placing his hands onto his hips and arching his back straight. "I spoke to her on the phone. Said she won't be able to get here until the afternoon. Don't worry thought. I'm sure she'll be here in time for the final battle."
"Oh t-that's good." Aichi smiles brightly. Ume let out a soft 'um' as she scanned their team. Suddenly, her eyes lit up in understanding. "W-Wait! The first m-match is about to begin! Without Miaski w-we're not gonna have enough players!"
Ume let out a soft gasp. She smiles softly and gently places her hand onto his shoulder. "Aichi-kun." she called his attention. "We've got everyone we need. 1." she began, counting. Ume points at Kai and then Kamui, who pouts at being numbered two and grumbles about it under his breath. "3." she smiles brightly, pointing directly at Aichi. Lightly tapping the boy on the nose shyly.
Aichi stared blankly, listening to the girl. The raven haired female snaps him out of his thoughts when she lightly taps him on the nose. His pale cheeks flushes light red from embarrassment, before gasping when what she said sank in. "W-What! Me!"
"Don't worry about it. Oniisan." Kamui grins innocently, his hands on his hips while the blue-haired boy looks at him weakly. "Yeah. Even if you lose, if your team-mates win then you move onto the next round!" Morikawa calls out prideful. Kamui growls, frustration on his face. "Hey! Stop telling him that it's okay to fail! You big dummy!"
The short raven haired female smiles happily, watching as Aichi flushed nervously. His hands playing nervously with his sleeves as he gasped out. "You'll do fine Aichi-kun." she says softly, moving towards the boy and suddenly, unbelieving with herself in fact, place a gentle kiss on his round pale cheek that instantly flushed a bright red colour. Aichi's blue eyes widens before glowing dazed and covering his burning cheek with his hand, shyly looking at the girl from the corner of his eye. Ume's own eyes widen in shock of her own actions, she flushes red herself and quickly looked around. "O-Oh. Um…f-for luck…" she stuttered, her voice slightly breaking. The bluenette clumsily nods his head and if it was possible, the blush on his cheeks ran down to his hands. The redness crawling across his fingers. "Y-Yes. R-Right. L-Luck." he whispers nervously, tugging gently on his red turtle neck. Ume stumbles backward, glancing nervously up at their friends that was watching with wide eyes. Taishi had a sly-expression on his face that screamed 'Luck? Yeah right' with his arms crossed tightly. Morikawa had a expression similar to smug, muttering 'He better beat them' unfazed by it, generally believe it really was for luck. While Izaki had a small blush off his own and was looking off to the side nervously. Ume snaps her head back around, looking down while her hands clenches the bottom of her creamy white shirt tightly, her face growing redder and redder. If possible, steam erupts from her ears, creating a small cloud above her. "Y-Yes. Good luck f-for the b-battle!"
Aichi whimpered, he nods his head. His stomach flipping over as he nods eagerly. "Yes. T-Thank you." he squeals, spinning around and stiffly walking out to the field, his arms num at his side. His blue eyes wide and his lips in a line, a massive rosy blush across his cheeks. Neither Ume nor Aichi noticed the slight-harden look both was receiving from a certain brunette. The floor was shiny brown wood with large white paint over it, creating a field similar to that out of a child's television show, named Pokemon. Aichi pants loudly, his eyes scans the field, his heart pounding within his chest. "Hey. Aichi." a voice called, the short blue haired boy jumps snapping his head around to look at Shin. The man was approaching him with a large white box within his hands. "Check out these's bad boys." he chuckled, revealing what was in side the box. Five sets of gloves gleamed up at him. Each had a different colour but the same pattern. They were white with another colour making an X across the top with a small gem in the middle. "These are special Vanguard gloves, you're supposed to wear them when playing. They're supposed to make the battles more realist, giving the player a stronger connection to Cray. Putting them on will allow you to see the battle field right in front of your eyes, instand of having to imagine it all the time." he explains softly, his square glasses glowing happily. "Well. That's what the salesman said to me."
"Ah. I'll l-let you know it is. T-Thanks Shin." Aichi smiles softly, his cheeks slightly cooling down. Going from a burning red to a soft red colour. Aichi shifts the gloves onto his hands, he smiles at the fact they are his favourite colour, Blue. "Manager! Manager! Do yah' have an orange pair! Do yah' Do yah'" Kamui cries out excitedly, sliding up next to the boys as his red eyes shimmers brightly. "Of cause I did." Shin laughs, lowering the box to the boy who grins at the orange pair. "Oh awesome." he squeals, tugging them on his hands. "Hey. Oneesan! You should have the green pair! They go with your eyes!" Kamui yelled over the girl, waving the pale green set of gloves in the air. Ume lifts her head, her eyes scans the boy and shyly looks at the gloves. She blinks when she made eye-contact with Aichi, as quickly as her face cooled down, it heated up once more, turning a bright red colour. Kamui blinks slowly, lowering his hands as he tilts his head. "Hey? What's the with Oneesan?" Kamui wonders softly, tilting his head to the side and looks up at Shin and Aichi. He frowns when Aichi turns red and quickly looks away, he looks up at Shin who shrugs. Making a soft 'gha' Kamui shook his head and quickly rushes off toward Ume, holding the gloves out. Shin chuckles, he eyes both teens with an amusing expression. "I guess I'll give the red pair to Kai and the lavender to Miaski."
Aichi nods, his hair covering his face as the taller man quickly disappears from the spot next to him. He breaths deeply, Aichi lifts his head to look at his opponent, the cloaked male steps into the other side of the ring, a green spike peeking out from underneath the black materiel. Breathing even deeper, Aichi ducks his head slightly and walks straight into the square in front of him, mentally preparing himself for the battle. "W-Were do I p-put my cards?" he wonders softly, his eyes widens in surprise when the paint of the ground around him gloved and a small table erupts from it, creating a vanguard pad. "Whoa."
"So then, they made you go first. Did they?" Aichi pouts and lifts his head to look at the man on the other side. His blue eyes closes for a few seconds before re-opening them. "Yes. That's r-right. And y-your…K-Korra-or something?" he mumbled softly, looking off to the side nervously as he tried to form the others name. "Kousaka! Come on now, seriously! You forgot my name already!" The man in the cloak snaps loudly, his fist clenching tightly. Aichi nervously shook. "S-Sorry. It's j-just…" he began and looks down. "I can't tell t-them apart…" he thought to himself, a large sweat-drop appearing on the back of his head.
"All decks shovelled? Good! Then let's play some Vanguard! First battle begin!"
Aichi gulps, a large lump had formed in the back of his throat, he wheezed a little as he swallows it. "Stand up, Vanguard!" he called, flipping his Vanguard card over. Ume's eyes widen, her mouth dropped in raw surprise. Directly underneath the two players came bright, glowing plates of colour. Something similar to wind erupts from the plates, underneath Aichi was a glowing light blue while the other player had a pale crimson colour. It was amazing and beautiful. The lights sparkled everywhere, little orbs of glittering orangeness shines around the two Vanguard-players. She briefly wondered if it was the pale green gloves that was clinging to her somewhat bony-hands. "Whoa. That battle system is unreal!" Ume couldn't help but silently nod in agreement, her eyes fluttering softly. "Now if only Card Capital had one…it'd probably cost more then the whole store though…" Shin mumbled, somewhat depressingly, his head dipping slowly.
"B-Barcgal!" Ume gasps out, eyeing the pure white wolf like animal with icon plates on it's body. It stood high and might in front of Aichi with a long knife clung in between it's large jaws. Ume couldn't take her eyes from the animal, he sure wa beautiful, he glowed light blue. The creature was one of the most beautiful things she had ever seen. Ume couldn't help but be excited to see all of Aichi's deck in person. "Aichi-kun's going first." she realized, watching as the boy scans his hand with wide eyes. The raven haired female scans everyone standing around, none seemed to surprised with the system.
Aichi nods, his eyes scans over Kousaka's starting Vanguard. "It's an K-Kagero deck." he thinks to himself. Breathing deeply, his eyes hardens. "I draw! First I r-ride W-Wingal! And I move Barcgal to the r-rear guard!" Aichi calls out. Ume stretches out to see the newly creature, he was just as cute as she thought Wingal would be. He had deep blue fur with a long red martial wrapped out his neck. A pair of soft blue wings pokes out of his back. Wingal had a creamy white belly. "Is it just me or does Wingal have…Aichi-kun's features?" she thought to herself, tilting her head to side noticing that Wingal had spiky blue locks curling around his face, a long Aichi-like bag hangs out of the left side. Her stomach flips when she saw the Vanguard's eyes, bright blue slit eyes. "Wingal's…so cute." she smiles to herself, excited to see more of the deck. "I use Barcgal's skill and I call Flogal!" Aichi voice calls out, somewhat strongly. Ume watches as a glowing pink form appears behind Barcgal on the field. Flogal was just as cute as Wingal with beautiful pale pink fur that had white symbols on her hips and back. Darker pink plates was attacked to her small body, a helmet sat gently on her head with a pair of pale pink locks spreading out of the helmet with reddish ribbons tired around the base of them. Just like Wingal, Flogal too had bright-seal blue flit eyes that sparkles brightly as she stood, ready for battle.
"My turn! I draw!" Kousaka called out, placing the card down on his plate. "I ride the Embodiment of Armor, Bahr!" Ume's stomach flips as she watches the Kagero Vanguard glows a bright red colour and transforms, her eyes widens at the creature. She never thought that Bahr would look so scary before, but now seeing him, she could certainly see why people like Kai would use him. He's terrifying, just thinking about seeing the Demoniac Dragon in person sent a cold-chill down her spin. Embodiment of Armor, Bahr stood with his back arched out. His skin glowed a sickly lightening like texture with a pair of spike glowing yellow eyes. Pointy crimson armour clung to his thin body, a face like a dragon was attached to his stomach. Sharp claws was on his feet and hands. Long spiky white hair short up in a spike, stood around his head. "Whoa…" she breaths softly, she couldn't take her eyes off the creatures.
"That combo just barely," Aichi thought, slowly turning his head to look over the brunette sitting on the side lines. "It's the same way Kai plays. If h-his skills a-are anywhere n-nears his. Then I'm in s-serious trouble." the boy chewed on his bottom lip, turning around to look at Kousaka with narrowed eyes.
Kousaka looks down at the card in his hand and smirks. "I don't know what you're so afraid off. I call the Demonic Dragon Madonna, Joka!" he calls out, throwing the card down. Unlike Bahr, she wasn't as scary. The creature was roughly bigger then Bahr, her top half of her body was pale pure scales with long blue hair. Her face was flat with a small smirk on her lips, a crown-like object stood tangled in her blue hair, it was golden and black and stretched out in every direction. Her bottom half of her body was cross between a snake and a fish, it was long and slimly. Deep, dark blue scales filled every itch with golden patens stitched arose the skin with light purple fins sticking out at the sides. "J-Joka?" Aichi gaps out in surprise, clenching his teeth together. "Is there a problem?" Kousaka asks, tilting his head to the side. His pitch black cloak shifts across his body lightly. Aichi shudders, his cheeks flushes as he shook his head. "Um..n-no."
"Come on…focus…" Kamui encourages the boy, his wide eyes flashes worriedly as Ume turns her attention from Joka to Izaki behind her. "This is no time to be scared!" he calls out, hands around his mouth before jumping when Morikawa slides behind him and grips his arm. "You have to admit, Joka's pretty scary." he whispers to his friend lightly, his own body shuddering. "Um. Morikawa you scared of snakes or something?" Taishi asks, amusingly as the boy flushes and squeals loudly at them. "Q-Quit it!" Shin tilts his head to the side, shifting his glasses slightly. "What's gotten into Aichi?" he wonders out loud.
"I h-hate fighting against cards I d-don't know." Aichi thought desperately, his heart pounding. "It's Kai's d-deck, only with new u-units."
"Hm. He's getting freaked out over nothing." Kai snorts, crossing his arms tightly while Ume glances up at him with a small pout. "That's harsh isn't it. Aichi-kun's only been playing for a few weeks." she whimpers softly.
Kousaka frowns, his eyes narrowing. "I attack your Vanguard with Bahr!" he called out. Ume's heart thumped harshly, watching as Bahr suddenly lifted a long sword above him and brought it down with great speed on Wingal. She flinched upon hearing a puppy-whine leave Wingal, his small body shuddered. Both players did a check, neither got a trigger. "I attack with Joka!" he the cloak man yells out, the long-snake woman slivers directly towards Wingal, Wingal whines again and arches backward. "I g-guide!" Aichi squeals loudly, placing the card into drop-zone as he breaths deeply, his body arches forward as he looks at his units. It was so new to him, it was amazing seeing his units in form in front of him.
Aichi swallows a lump in the back of his throat, he slowly draws a new card. "W-What should I do? I w-wish I knew m-more about this guy." he thought nervously, biting his bottom lip even harder, almost drawing blood. He could almost taste the copper. "It's no u-use I'm j-just gonna have to p-play him l-like anybody else." Aichi thought in determination, his blue eyes shifting gently as he looks down at the card. "Stand my Avatar! Ride Blaster Blade!"
Ume's eyes widening, her body shuddered. She breaths deeply watching as the Wingal glows beautiful, sparkling. Her stomach tightened and her head pounded, feeling uncontrollable excitement, her green eyes widens even more and her cheeks flushed rosy-red. "Blaster Blade…" she whispered gently to herself, he was just as she thought he'd be. He stood with an hero-like pose, holding a massive, long sword in his hands. The man was handsome, with a great build. Glittering white amour was clinging to his body, white plates with pale blue edges, a dark blue glow wraps around him. Just like Wingal, Blaster Blade had Aichi-like features with a long of deep blue hair poking out from underneath his helmet, the blue hair curling around his bright, beautiful blue eyes. "I summon W-Wingal to rear guard!" Aichi says, placing another card down and a bright glow of blue light erupts from Flogal's side, Wingal re-appears just as adorable as he was before. "With Wingal's s-support I raise Blaster Blade's attack power b-by 1000! I'll heck for drive trigger. Nothing there." breathing deeply, Ume watches as Blaster Blade short across the field easily, bringing out his long sword of light and slashing it across Bahr's stomach. "With Flogal's support, Barcgal attacks your Vanguard!"
"Two damage…" Ume breaths softly, her hands clenching the cloth across her chest. She bits her bottom lip, watching as Kousaka draws a card and looks over it with an sickening smirk. "It's time for you feel my power! I ride the Dragon Night, Nehalem! Then I call Wyvern Strike, Tejas and Jarran!" two bright glittering red objects appeared in the rear circles. One was a small robot-like male in a red wing-like machine. It glows red with sliver-white symbols imprinted on the sides. While the other was a deep blue dragon with a small solider-like man on it's back, but it was Nehalem that had Ume's attention. He was unlike what she thought he'd look like. He was a man in a dark blue suit with red symbols, he rode on the back of a massive dragon. The dragon itself was scary, it had deep red scales with long fangs that was coated in saliva with crimson wings that was chipped in parts. "Then I move Joka back. And in that final space, I call Berserk Dragon!" Ume's breath got stuck in her throat, now that was creepy. It was a large dragon with dark blue scales and black amour, the dragon had a set of two snake like heads with horns on it's forehead. A pair of long deep black and blue wings bats harshly as it stood on it's hunches. "Berserk Dragon counterblast!"
"Man..this guy sure knows what he's doing." Taishi muttered lowly, placing his hand onto his chin. Causing Izaki and Morikawa to look at him with wide eyes.
"Paying the cost if two. I move your Wingal to your drop-zone!" Kousaka grins, watching as Aichi's eyes widen in shock. Wingal suddenly explodes within blue sparkles, like glass shattering. "And that's not all~ Joka's skill active since we've destroyed one of you rear guard units! She gains a 3000 attack power this turn! Boosting her up 9000!"
"So there was more then one reason for that counter blast." Ume whispers to herself, softly thumping her fist into her small hand. "He did it so he could activate Joka's skill." Taishi nods his head in agreement, his golden locks bouncing along with his movements. "All that from a grade two!" Morikawa growled, tightening his hold on the rails with wide eyes. "What a combo!"
Kousaka smirks even wider if it was possible. His green eyes darkens. "If you're thinking this is as bad as it gets, you're very wrong." he chuckles, watching as Aichi crushes his teeth together in frustration. "When I sent that rear guard to the drop-zone, I had much bigger plans then just powering up Joka! Here we go." he purred out, holding a card up. "Slivering up from the depths of the underworld! Ride! Demonic Dragon Berserker, Yakasha!" Ume's eyes widens at the newly creature. He was terrorising with a body of a snake, he was huge, the biggest on that side of the field, in fact the whole field. Bright pure scales with a white belly, glowing yellow eyes with a long red tongue that hangs out from his large mouth. Her hands grips together in soft fear, her shoulders shook from fear. "B-Be careful…Aichi-kun…" she thought desperately, her body trembling. "Oh man! Oniisan went first but his opponent got a grade three first." Kamui gasps loudly, grabbing onto Ume's arm tightly.
"Whoa! What a combo! It's amazing!" Izaki spoke brightly, his amber eyes widens at the creature shimmering out on the field. Morikawa grips his friend tightly. "Maybe he really can do magic…" he whimpers out, his own eyes wide. "Get a grip, Morikawa."
"Time for my attacks. First I attack Barcgal with Berserk Dragon supported by Joka! I support Tejas with Jarran and attack Flogal!"
Ume's eyes widens. "B-But isn't Flogal in the back? He shouldn't be able to attack her?" she questions softly. Kamui shook his head. "Tejas has an ability that allows that. What a pain." he explains softly, chewing his bottom lip hard. "Come on Oniisan."
"Don't forget Yakasha's skill adds another 4000 attack power to Tejas!" Kousaka laughs loudly, eyeing Aichi's units. "Looks like you're all alone! My Vanguard! Attack! Twin drive." Ume lets out a breath she hadn't notice she was holding. He didn't get anything. Thank god. "It seems luck hasn't abounded you yet kid."
Aichi almost glairs, he stares at his side of the field. "D-Damage check." he grunts when he got no-heal trigger. Breath deeply, he lifts a card. "Enter the battle. Kneel before your King! King of Knights, Alfred!" he cried, slamming the card down. Blaster Blade glows brightly and spreads out into another solider. Ume smiles, Alfred was just as she imagined him to be, too. He sat upon a glowing horse that was dark blue with pale blue glowing symbols. "Come on Aichi-kun." she thought, watching the blue-haired boy scan his cards innocently. "Get some support onto the battle field."
"I thought you'd use that card. You are using Royal Paladins. The clan that works together. But your allies can't help you when I've cleared them all away!"
"So? What will you do?"
Aichi's blue eyes glows brightly, he gulps, but smiles. "We stand as one!" he calls out bravely. Biting his bottom lip, he began to place cards down. "S-Solitary Knight, Gancelot! Little Sage, M-Marron!, Yggdrasil M-Maiden, Elaine! And the Knight of Truth, G-Gordon!" four bright glowing blue orbs appeared on the field. Gancelot was a tough build male with dark eyes, he wore bright grey amour with a long sword strapped to his back. A long black cloak with crimson on the inside. He rode a beautiful white horse with wings. Marron made Ume smile, he was cute she had to admit it. He was small dressed in light blue robes with blonde hair and bright blue eyes. Elaine was as beautiful as she thought she would be, with pale skin, longer green hair and a shimmering white dress. The last creature made Ume frown, she doesn't remember seeing that card before and Aichi had allowed her to look at his cards all the time, to learn about their ability. Heck the boy had sat with her and explained them shyly. But that card had never turned up before. It was a smug male with tan skin, he stood with his back arched and holding a sword between his hands. Whitish hair with glowing cat like orange eyes. Ume noticed that King Alfred, if possible, was giving the new man a concerning look. As if he was judging him, thinking things through. As if the King was watching a newbie on the field, to see if he was right for the team. It amazed Ume.
"Looks like Aichi has been pushed fair enough that he had to use all his hand-cards. Even with that, Alfred is only half-full power. 18000." Shin explains softly, hand on his chin as he watched the battle-field. "His opponent is really taught. I guess we shouldn't expect anything less at this level."
Kamui nods his head slowly. "And on top of that, Gordon is new. He was just added to his deck this morning. We decided to take those chances on the way over here, we didn't have enough time to play test it. So we don't know if the chances are good or not. I'm not sure about these new cards. Will they actually help him?"
Ume's eyes widen. She puffed out her cheeks. "A-Aichi-kun." she whimpered out in worry.
"I added new cards to my deck d-dismorning. Now I've g-gotta rely on them to g-get me out of this. I have t-to do my best…" Aichi thought nervously, his shoulder shook a little as he scans his table.
Kousaka tilts his head to the side. "What's the matter. You've got three options. Attack, end the turn or quit." he spoke, almost darkly making Aichi gasp, his blue eyes widens. "I…I don't q-quit. Not ever. J-Just give me s-some time…" Aichi begs, chewing his bottom lip harshly. Kousaka hums, his green eyes shimmers darkly. "Hm. This must be your first time at a regional tournament. That explains…a lot. In a card fight it's important to keep your cool and he's been acting really nervous. This game is mine for the taking." he thought, purring to himself.
"Let's keep going. I'll h-have Gancelot attack your Vanguard with the support Mallon." Aichi breaths out deeply, he grunts when Kousaka guards. "The next a-attack is from the King. H-Here I go!" Aichi calls out, "Twin drive. Check!" the blue haired boy breaths deeply taking two cards. "Yes. I got one! A c-critical trigger! That's 5000 points to Gordon and an extra damage to Alfred!" Ume heart pounds loudly within her chest, she smiles brightly watching as Alfred charges into the battle, he glows a bright white and blue colour, throwing his long sword out and slashing across the stomach of the others creature. "I a-attack with Gordon s-supported by E-Elaine!" Aichi frowns softly when Kousaka guards once more.
"I drop a card which activates his skill!" Kousaka spoke loudly, watching Gordon tries to attack the creature only to have the creature burst into white clouds. "Ha. Now you can't hit my Kagero units, even if you did have more attacks. They'd be useless."
"….T-That's it for m-my turn…"
Morikawa glairs with a sweat-drop on the side of his face. "What do you expect? That guy…has snakes…" Taishi sighs at his words. "Don't you have a copy of Yaksha? It's a grade three…" he sighed softly, eyeing spiky dark haired male who looks back with whimper. "Well…yeah…not on me…but locked away back at home."
"Are you afraid of a card? Grow up."
"It's time to show you what a real attack looks like." Kousaka spoke, holding a card up. "I call Bahr!" he says, summoning the creature onto the field. "Using the support of Joka, I attack Alfred with Berserk Dragon!" he yelled out and Aichi clenched his eyes closed, crying out that he doesn't guard. Adding another card to his damage zone. "Bahr support my attack! I attack with Yaksha!" Ume shudders, watching as the large snake moves across the ground, towards Aichi. "Twin drive! Come on. Yes. Things just got a whole lot worse for yah'"
Morikawa groans. "Why'd he have to get that now!" he snaps loudly, pouting as Izaki shook his head. "He was bound to get a lucky draw sooner or later."
"This is bad…"
"Aichi-kun…"
Kousaka grins widely, similar to that of the Cheshire Cat. "I give the extra 5000 power to Tejas and as for the extra damage? Here it comes~" he purrs out, his voice dark and sending a old chill down everyone's spin.
"C-Checking damage trigger. F-First card. S-Second card."
Ume eyes widen, she bites her bottom lip super hard and flinches. "One more card and it's over…Aichi-kun…"
"His opponent still has one unit left to attack with…Gha! Aichi! You've gotta stop this attack or else!"
Aichi gulps, he breaths deeply as he shook. "That's e-easy for you t-to say." he mutters under his breath. Desperately scanning his units.
"Haha~ This is the end, kid." Kousaka chuckles. "Tejas attacks your Vanguard. With the support of Jar, he gets an extra 10000 attack power! Boosting him up 23000 attack power!"
"I'll h-have Wingal guard!"
"On-No. That won't be enough!"
"Aichi! You need more! More cards man!"
Aichi groans to himself, his blue eyes narrows down on the remaining card in his hand. "Llew has a 10000 shield…but it's t-the last c-card in my hand…a-and I don't wanna leave myself w-with no options. If only there was some other way…" he thought to himself desperately, before he gasped at the realization. Almost as if he was reading Aichi's thoughts, The King of Knights, Alfred turns his head to look at Gordon. Said man tilts his own head back around to look directly at Aichi with wide, glowing amber eyes. "Wha…Yes!"
"What are you doing! This is no time to be day-dreaming!"
The short boy nods his head slowly. "Wingal, stand alone…" he spoke softly, Aichi snaps his head up with determination in his eyes. "As the only guard!" he commanded, shocking everyone. Ume gasped and winces from the shrieks erupting out from behind her. "You must still be nervous. You've missed calculated how much power is coming your way." Kousaka spoke smoothly watching with wide eyes as Aichi shook his head calmly. His eyes grow so wide that they look like they might pop out of his sockets. It was almost as if somebody else had taken the place for the blue haired boy, as he was suddenly so calm, as if he had never been nervous or scared to begin with.
"No. No I didn't."
"W-What's that supposed to be mean!"
Aichi's blue eyes glow softly, it was almost like somebody else had stepped directly into his shoes. "I see it now. Gordon intercepts the attack!" he calls out, much like a general to his soldiers. Gordon smirks, he nods his head and leaps in front of his King, he stands with his back arched by side with Wingal.
"Hmm. Intercepts huh? 20000. Still not enough." he says, sending his monster to attack. "You're 3000 short!"
Ume sucks in a deep breath, her chest tightens but for some reason she felt calm. Her eyes was clued to the fight, she watches in slow motion as Tejas attacks. The round balls of fire erupting into the ground, creating a loud explosion. "Huh?" Ume blinks, she rubs her eyes in confusion. It was still there. Gordon is glow a light blue colour. Gasping, she turns her attention to Aichi, he looks calm. "Gordon has an ability!" she thought to herself, her chest began to pound as she waited for the smoke to clear and when it did, she smiled upon seeing Alfred still in play. The King had no scratch on him!
"I…I don't believe it! H-How is he still standing!"
Ume looks up at the large screen above them that replayed the attack. It paused to reveal Gordon using an ability. "So I was right! Aichi-kun used Gordon to activate his ability." she smiles brightly, her face practically glowing at the blue haired boy. "Huh? What ability, Oneesan?" Kamui asked in curiosity, tilting his head around to look at Ume. Said girl's eyes turned half-lidded, her mouth opens slightly and a large sweat-drop appears on the back of her head. Laughing nervously, Ume shrugs innocently. "Haven't got a clue…"
"No way! His shield doubled! How come?"
The look that over came Aichi looked similar to a smirk. "That's because it wasn't a normal intercept." he spoke smoothly, ignoring as Kousaka snaps loudly at him in confusion. "When I used Gordon to intercept an attack. As long as there is a Royal Paladin in the Vanguard circle, the effects of his shield is doubled."
"How's this possible!"
"It's a form of ability that lets you ambush your enemy! And you fell for it!" Aichi teased. "Like it? The new special intercept!"
"You called it an special intercept? I've never seen anybody use that."
Aichi nods his head in agreement. "I know. It's a first for me too. Gordon's from a booster pack I opened this morning. And I knew right away that it belonged in my deck!"
"What? Did you get it from the new expansion set?"
"Yeah. That's right." Aichi nods his head again, he looks down at his pal and removed Gordon from play. "Thank you Gordon. You really saved the day."
"I can't believe he's already using the cards from the onslaught of Dragon souls expansion. I guess I underestimated him." Kousaka thought, clenching his teeth. He sighs to himself as he breaths deeply. "I suppose I end my turn."
Aichi stares back at his pad. "Five damage. With only one card in my hand, I can't allows this game to go on any further." the boy thought to himself, touching the top card of his deck. He breaths deeply and closes his eyes before taking the card. "Yeah! I all Giganteh Charger!" Ume's mouth opens in surprise, she stares at the card with amazement. The man that appears on the field was a giant with tan skin and silver amour, his chest was covered in a metal blue amour. He held a large and long hammer in his beast like hands. "Chargers skill lets me look at the top card of my deck. Flogal. Since it's a Royal Paladin I move it onto the rear guard!"
"Whoa that's awesome! It's a grade three I've never seen before!" Morikawa spoke in a daze. "More importantly. It allows Aichi to get Flogal into play!" Izaki smiles, his eyes hardens. "What? But Flogal's a grade zero…"
"As normally you can't see past the grades…you're such a-" Taishi began, but the two small child sitting in front of him, grins and giggles out. "Loser!"
Kamui grins brightly, he crosses his arms over his chest. "Just look that the battle field. Now that Flogal's in play, the King of Knights is finally at full power!" Ume blinks a little at his words before turning her head and gasped as she found Alfred is in fact 20000 attack power.
"And now." Aichi breaths in deeply, he smiles and look directly at Kousaka. "Here goes nothing! With Elaine support, I'll have Giganteh Charger attack your Vanguard!" Ume's heart pounds as she watches the man lift his hammer and brought it down hard against the ground, creating a lash of burning blue fire to stream directly towards Kousaka. "D-Damage trigger…" he breaths out, flipping the card over and winces. He got nothing. Aichi then moved to have Alfred attack, only to have Kousaka guard with two cards for good measure. The blue-haired boy hums. "Twin drive!" he calls out, lifting up the first card. Nothing. He slowly moved to lift the second card up. "Second check!" he sighs, closing his eyes as he turns his card around to reveal. He got it! A critical.
"Oh yeah!"
"I got a critical trigger!"
"It can't be!"
"I place them both onto Alfred!" Aichi breaths out deeply, watching as Alfred charges straight towards Kousaka. "No. I need a trigger." the man cried, turning his card and groaning. "I…lost…"
"The first winner from Q4! Sendou Aichi!"
Slowly, he blinks his eyes. Aichi found himself turning red from all the attention he was suddenly receiving. He gulps as he couldn't believe he'd won. His beautiful blue orbs scans around the hall, watching as everyone clapping. "I-I did it." he thought, his heart pounding in his chest. Aichi lets out a gasp of air he hadn't realized he was holding.
"You did it Oniisan!" Kamui cheered, running around to the blue-haired boy. "I knew you could!"
Aichi smiles shyly. "K-Kamui. Thanks." he sighs softly, following the short raven boy back to his team. "What? That's it? Then why didn't his opponent use an intercept on that last turn?" Morikawa voice echoed out, gaining Aichi's attention. His blue eyes lowers in worry as he glances back at the male in the black cloak.
"No. Kousaka did the right thing." Kai suddenly spoke up, his arms crossed tightly over his chest. His head ducked with his brown locks hiding his face. "Picture it. He had two units cable of intercepting. Just one of which would be enough to stop Alfred's attack. But Aichi still had Gancelot. So whether he used his intercepts or not, he was going to lose. Unless he draw a trigger, he wouldn't have been able to defend against Gancelot and Marron. There's not other way around it."
"But…what…"
Kai snorts, lifting his head to look at the ones in front of him. "It's not up for discussion." he spoke to Morikawa with a 'matter of fact' tone. "The outcome of this match was decided the moment you pulled that trigger. Aichi."
"And!" Kamui quickly added in before Kai. "It sure was fun to watch! I'm really proud of you Oniisan!"
Ume smiles, she watches the boy talk with Kamui. "He really did do great didn't he Shin?" she asks softly, turning her head to look up at the man standing next to her with his hands in his pockets. The tall green haired male smiles, lowering his head to look at her, his glass shimmers before branching off to reveal his own set of emeralds. "Yes." he nods in agreement. "but I think the real reason he was able to win was because he believed in himself." he stated proudly. Ume could only stare up at him with wide eyes, she let out a gentle 'oh?' before smiling brightly and nodding. "Hm. Yeah."
Shin's eyes darkens, he smirks widely. "I believe you need to do your job." he says teasingly watching as the Ume's face turns into a confused expression. Chuckling, Shin nods over to the short bluenette. "You're the team's 'nurse' you need to go see if Aichi has exhausted himself or something." he chuckled one more, watching as Ume's nose wiggled with dis-pleasant. "How can you hurt yourself in a cardfight?" she mumbled, tilting her head while Shin simply shook his head and shrugged. "Don't ask me. It's in the rule book." he says, holding up the rule book and pointing at it. Ume simply pouts and crosses her arms. "That's stupid." she huffed before yelping when Shin suddenly lightly pushed her towards the blue-haired boy. "Enough talking. Do yah' job. What am I paying you for?"
"You aren't paying me." Ume sighs to herself, she green eyes glances nervously at Aichi and sighs once more. "Here goes nothing…" she mutters to herself, rubbing her pale green gloved hands together and shuffles towards the boy. Her face turns a bright red colour when Aichi suddenly lifts his head and looks directly in her direction, their eyes locking. Aichi's face turns a bright red colour too as he remembers what had happen before the battle. Aichi timidly looks away, he awkwardly smile at her as she stops in front of him. "S-So…umm…t-that was a great battle A-Aichi-kun!" she squeals out, her body riddled with nervous. Aichi nods, his smile turning general. "Y-Yeah…thank you…for the l-luck…" he says, turning to look at her in the eye. Ume was taken back with the seriousness clear on his face.
"Say Oneesan, fancy giving me some of your luck too?" Kamui grins, lightly pointing at his own cheek. Ume laughs softly, rubbing the back of her head watching as a certain brunette stood to play. "Wait! How come Kai gets to go next?" Kamui grumbled, pouting with his arms crossed tightly over his chest. "Hey! You better beat this guy! You hear me!"
Kai sighs softly, tugging on his red gloves. "Well…if you insist."
"Right. If he really could lose." Morikawa snorts, his red eyes narrowing. "Well~ Sounds like you're really to join the Kai-fan club." Taishi teased with a sly grin. Morikawa gasps and glares at the blonde. "Says the president!" he snaps back at the blonde.
"Stand up! The Vanguard!"
It's amazing, it happened so quickly. Ume couldn't stop staring with shock. "W-Whoa…that w-was fast…" Aichi mumbled softly, blinking his eyes. It was quick, it happened so fast. Ume tilts her head back gaze up with her heart in her throat. Kai had just ridded Demonic Dragon Lord. The Lord was truly terrifying, he was by fair the most largest Ume had ever seen. He stood over her with black sales, parts of his body was covered in spicy-crimson plates, flames erupts from places from the dragon. It's large snake-dragon head looms darkly, staring down it's opponent.
"Don't make me laugh. I guess I have no choice but to show you what a real dragon can do." Kai snorts, tilting his head to the side. His teal-green eyes gazing darkly at the man in cloak. A smirk curls across his thin-pale lips. "Counter Blast! With the support of Bahr! Demonic Over Lord attacks your Tejas!"
"Since the attack hit you get to-"
Kai snorts out a laugh. "Stand again. Next I attack Gakupo! Twin drive. Circuital trigger! Let's finish this."
And just like that, Kai won. He won so easily. It amazed Ume. The brunette was so skilled. She watches as the brunette turns around to leave the field. Every eye on the field watching the brunette move across the floor. "He crushed him." she thought to himself, breathing deeply. Humming to herself, she shook her head. "Amazing! You w-won!" Aichi smiles as the brunette stop in front of the trio.
"Ha! A player like that isn't worth my time."
"Couldn't you at least pretend to be happy? You just won a battle." Kamui grunts out with his arms behind his back. The spiky haired boy sighs softly to himself when Kai shoves his hand into his pockets and turns away.
"Don't even bother!" Taishi calls down to them with is arms crossed over the rails. "Kai isn't that kind of guy. Besides, can you imagine what Kai would look like with a big goofy grin on his face?"
Ume lets out a soft hum and tilts her head back in thought. "No thanks." she grunts out with the others. "Told yah'" Taishi laughs gleefully.
"I get it. I thought you joined up with bunch of losers. But looks like your friends really know their stuff. Good."
"Something wrong Captain?"
"No. Just thinking how awesome the finals are gonna be."
Well? What do you think? Is it alright or plain bad? I hope to hear from you soon!
