All Mako knew in life is to fight.
Starving? Fight the growling roar of an empty stomach knowing very well you haven't eaten a proper meal in a few days. Broke? Fight the urge to sleep as you work long shifts to scrap up enough money as you can. Scared? Fight that feeling because you have to, knowing that you have to be strong for the sake of your younger brother.
It seemed like that is all he has known what to do…at least…until after their parents passed away. Ever since then, time has passed in an endless echo of survival. From dawn to dusk, the unknown would weigh heavily on his shoulders. Life did not seem to have a purpose, but after the day he met her, that all changed.
To see the sun shine early in the morning, casting a glorious glow upon her face. The twinkling lights dance at night which would reflect on her ocean blue eyes. The way she laughed at his stupid jokes, or her excited smile as she watched the birds glide in the sky in an elegant pattern. All those little moments made him feel light as air and gave him hope that his future will not be as dark as his early childhood.
Then…she was gone. Slipped from his fingertips in a split second, knowing it was all his fault. It killed him every day to see the pain in her eyes of the broken heart inside her. He prays to the moon an night, begging to take it all back to the time where he could hold her face between his hands and stare in her eyes for an eternity. But deep down inside, he knows he has to fight for her. If he could not win her heart again, then he would fight beside her, no matter at what cost.
