We burned Kevin.

Dean and separated at the door of the bunker and went our different ways to mourn. I curled up in the bed and wished Sam was here with me and listened to Dean scream and throw things in the library.

The all too familiar process. I'd feel sorry for myself and Dean would become destructive.

I pulled out my cell phone and started calling around trying to find Cas. Finally, I got ahold of him and told him about what happened. He said he'd be there as soon as he could.

"If the angel possessing Sam isn't Ezekiel then who is it?" Cas asked once he'd arrived and Dean filled him in.

"Dead man walking," Dean answered.

"What, you're gonna destroy him?"

"Damn right."

"That would kill Sam too," I argued.

"You think I don't know that?" Dean asked. "If I don't end Sam and that halo burns him out and I… God, I was so damn stupid."

"You were stupid for the right reasons," Cas said sternly. "Listen to me. Sam is strong. If he knew an angel was possessing him, he could fight. He could cast the angel out."

"Maybe. But as far as I know, he's in the dark. I don't know how we clue him in."

"Do you remember Alfie?" Cas asked after some thought.

"The kid angel? Yeah. Why?"

"Before he died, he told me the demons were able to dig into his mind, access his coding. We might be able to do that here. Might be able to bypass the angel and talk directly to Sam."

"And you think that would work?"

"I don't know, but I think we should try."

"How the hell to we access and angel's coding?" I asked. Dean looked up at me for a moment before turning and heading down the hall. "Right. Crowley," I muttered.

Crowley wasn't hard to convince which only made us more suspicious. Since the angel in Sam's body took the Impala we had to walk to the car Cas had used to get here. He ran out of gas a few miles from the bunker.

"Really? What are you, a pimp?" Crowley commented as we neared Cas's car.

"I like it," Cas said as Dean tried to crank it.

"Yeah, it's out of gas," Dean said, taking the gas can he had and refilling the car.

"Riddle me this, boy wonder. Why do you need the wheels?" Crowley asked.

"When you betray us, I'll be the one to carve out your heart," Cas growled to the demon. I met Dean's eyes over the car and he let out a frustrated sigh before putting the gas cap back on.

"All right. Let's go," Dean said throwing his stuff in the trunk.

"Shotgun," Crowley said heading to the passenger seat.

"Uh, wrong. You're in the back," Dean commanded. Cas smiled smugly and started to get into the passenger seat. "Hey, you too. Robin gets the front seat. You keep an eye on him."

Cas rolled his eyes and climbed into the back seat. I got up front with Dean while the angel and the demon in the back seat argued and shoved at each other.

"Watch the leg."

"You're on my side."

Crowley directed us to an office building where he spoke with a source of his to find Sam. He tracked the Impala to Pennsylvania.

We found the car parked outside a house in Somerset. We left Crowley in the car while Dean, Cas, and I snuck into the house. Dean went in the front door and me and Cas went around to the back.

I peeked in through the back door and saw Sam standing at a sink washing blood off of his hands. I held up a hand to Cas when I saw movement behind Sam. It was Dean.

They spoke for a minute and then Dean attempted to rush Sam but the angel only threw him backwards into a bookshelf, knocking him unconscious.

"Now, Cas," I hissed pulling the angel forward and through the backdoor. Sam turned at the noise and Cas gave him one punch to the face knocking him out.

"Is Dean okay?" Cas asked while he bent to check Sam.

"Yeah," I answered as Dean stirred. "Wake up, Winchester. We got work to do."

We brought Sam to a warehouse and tied him up to a chair and brought Crowley in to work on him. Cas checked Sam over to make sure it was safe to remove the angel. The angel woke up and struggled against the bonds.

"Welcome to the party," Dean said. "Cas how we looking?"

"Most of Sam's internal burns have healed. I should be able to fix the rest." Cas approached Sam. "What's your name? I thought I knew every angel in heaven, but I've never seen you."

"Why would I tell you anything?" the angel answered.

"Well, I don't give a damn who you are. You need to get out, now!" Dean growled.

"And if I don't?"

"Then you and I will have a lovely little play date," Crowley drawled.

"Even bound, I can rip this body apart. Tell them, Castiel."

"You do, you die," Dean said.

"You want tis to end? Go ahead. Put a blade through your brothers heart.? If it makes you feel better, I have Sam locked away in a dream. As far as he knows, the two of you are working a case right now. Something with ghouls and cheerleaders.

"Why are you doing this, huh? We fought together. And I trusted you. I thought you were one of the good guys!"

"I am doing what I have to do."

"Well, so am I," Dean said and nodded to Crowley. The demon stood and picked up a large needle and stepped towards the angel.

Crowley stuck the needle through Sam's temple and he gasped and groaned. I turned away from the scene and closed my eyes trying to block out the noise.

Crowley continued to add thick needles and I stood next to Cas, jiggly my leg nervously. Dean paced the room, occasionally checking his watch. Eventually he stomped out of the room. I looked between Crowley working on Sam and Dean's retreating form.

"Go. I'll stay and watch them," Cas said to me. I nodded at him and followed after Dean.

"Dean?"

"I can't watch that anymore," he answered, rubbing a hand down his face.

"Me either. It's still Sam."

"You talked to Jody? How's her shoulder?"

"Jody?"

"Yeah, Jody, Robin. I want to talk about anything that's not a demon sticking needles into my brother's brain," Dean snapped.

"She sent me a text a few days ago," I said ignoring his tone. "It was a list of things she can't do with one arm." That made Dean smile.

"I'm sure she's dying to get back to work."

"You really think a bum arm is gonna stop her from working?"

"You're right. Robin, I'm sorry."

"For what?"

"Letting that angel into Sam."

"Hey, I was there too. It's just as much my fault as it is yours."

"You saying we're both a couple of dumbasses?"

"Something like that."

"Laverne! Shirley! Get in here!" Crowley called from the other room. Dean and I rushed back into the room where Sam was slumped in the chair. "Pinhead's out cold, but watch this." Crowley moved some of the needles and the angel started to speak Enochian.

"What's he saying?" Dean asked.

"His name. Gadreel," Cas answered.

"Does that mean something to you?"

"Well, it's why I've never seen him. He's been imprisoned since the dawn of time. Gadreel was the sentry who allowed Lucifer into the garden."

"My, my. A celebrity," Crowley spoke before continuing his probing.

"What's taking so long?" Dean asked after a while.

"Other than the fact that I'm trying to unravel a living, multidimensional knot of pure energy, not much," Crowley said. Gadreel gasped and woke up.

"It won't work," the angel said. "You will never find your brother. Go ahead. Poke and prod. I can sit in this chair for years and watch you fail over and over again. I've endured much worse than this, Dean. So much worse. And I have all the time in the world."

"Shut up!" Dean snapped. "All right. Plan B. Cas, you got to possess him."

"What?" Cas asked.

"Do it now! Get in there, tell Sam what's going on, and help him kick that lying son of a bitch out!"

"He can't," I argued.

"Robin's right, Dean," Cas agreed. "It might work, but I can't possess a vessel without permission." Crowley cleared his throat and raised his hand.

"No. Not happening," Dean said.

"Don't be daft. Demons can take what they want. I can burrow into that rat's next of a head. I can wake Sam up. Just call me plan C."

"You can't-" Cas started.

"You got a better idea?" Dean asked then turned to me. "Any ideas, Robin?" I shook my head. Dean nodded and turned back to Crowley. "What about the angel?"

"I'll work fast."

"And if he finds you?"

"I'll run. I'm not dying for you lot. Of course, if I do this, you're gonna have to-"Crowley raised his shackled hands.

"Take off the leash. Yeah, I know.

"And it stays off. I save Sam, I leave here a free man. Do we have a deal?"

"Cas, burn off Sam's tattoo," Dean said.

"Dean," Cas tried.

"Do it."

Cas walked over to Sam's body and held his hand over the anti-possession tattoo. The area lit up and when Cas moved his hand away the tattoo was gone.

"If you mess with Sam, if you try anything-"

"I keep my bargains," Crowley interrupted. "Besides, I don't want to be inside your brother any longer than I have to. I'm not one for sloppy seconds." Dean walked over and removed the chains.

"When you find him, say 'Poughkeepsie'. It's our go work. It means 'drop everything and run'."

"Fine. While I'm gone, hands off the suit." A cloud of red demon smoke poured out of Crowley's mouth and flew into Sam's. Then it was quiet.

We sat waiting and worrying for a while. I was back to jiggling my leg and biting my nails. Finally, Sam sat up and a white light poured out of his mouth. A moment later, Crowley's red smoke followed and flew into Crowley's meat suit.

Sam slumped in the chair and we rushed forward. Cas began taking the needles out of Sam's head while Dean released the bonds.

"I'm fine, thanks for asking," Crowley quipped.

"Sam, are you okay?" Cas asked Sam.

"Cas?" Sam said groggily. Light shone through the windows as tires crunched on the gravel outside.

"Company," I muttered.

"It's Abaddon," Cas said looking out the windows.

"Go. The back door. I'll handle this," Crowley said standing.

"Oh, cause you're such a good guy?" Dean asked skeptically.

"Right now, I'm the goodest guy you got."

"This don't make us square. I see you again-"

"I'm dead. Yes, I know. I love you, too."

Dean and Cas grabbed onto one of Sam's arms each and headed towards the back door. I grabbed our bags and started to follow after them. I stopped in the doorway and turned back.

"Hey, Crowley?" He turned to look at me. I nodded towards the door Abaddon was about to walk through. "You've got my vote." Crowley smirked at me and I let the door shut behind me and chased after the boys.

We stopped on a pier once we were a safe distance away and we all got out so Cas could heal Sam.

"It'll take time to fully heal you. We'll have to do it in stages," Cas said. Sam nodded and walked towards the car. Dean met him there and they began talking.

"Are you okay, Cas?" I asked.

"Yes, I'm okay. I'm not completely back. But I'm as good as I can be."

"Yeah, I think we all feel that way."

"No. That is not on you!" Dean said raising his voice and catching our attention. "Kevin's blood is on my hands, and that ain't ever getting clean. I'll burn for that. I will. But I'll find Gadreel. And I will end that son of a bitch. But I'll do it alone," Dean finished and looked over at me. My stomach dropped.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Sam asked.

"Come on, man. Can't you see? I'm poison, Sam. People get close to me, they get killed or worse. You know, I tell myself that I help more people than I hurt. And I tell myself that I'm doing it all for the right reasons, and I believe that. But I can't- I won't drag anybody through the much with me. Not anymore."

"Dean-" I started.

"No, Robin. Not this time."

"Go. I'm not gonna stop you," Sam said.

"Wait, guys, stop this!" I said stomping towards them.

"Stay with Sam, Red," Dean said and turned to walk away.

"Dean, stop!" Sam grabbed onto my arm when I headed after Dean. "Dean!"

"Let him go. He's gotta figure this out alone."
