Greetings! I appreciate you dropping by to read my story. As stated before, this was written a year ago for a friend. I'm a NaruHina fan myself and had a fun writing this quick story. Despite its simplicity, I hope you enjoy it.
Naruto and Hinata are not my characters nor is Konoha a village I created.
The luminous moon bathed the emptying streets of Konoha. Shops were closing, a yawn here and there. It was quite a night for Naruto and Hinata; they were celebrating their fifth anniversary. He took her out to dinner at a secluded restaurant, followed by a soak in the hot springs. The subtle evening wind caused a brush of leaves across the buildings that surrounded them. Naruto felt his sweetheart shiver. At this, he pulled her closer to him, feeling her relax at the touch and feel of his warmth.
For Hinata, this day couldn't get any better; spending the whole day with Naruto had become a rarity nowadays. He was hokage now, meaning sometimes he'd come home tired, or he'd be too busy. It was hell when she was assigned to go on a mission because it meant days or even weeks apart, but he was here now and that's all that mattered. She felt him tense up and halt. Looking at his cerulean eyes, Hinata fell into a daze, he was her dream man, her everything, but wait? What was he staring at anyway? Following his gaze, her eyes fell upon a radiating fountain. The soft drips and streaming water relaxed her. It had such precision; a silhouette of a swan with flowers surrounding it casting a ray of silver diamond droplets, with a faint blue aura, it was so beautiful, it didn't seem to find a proper place in reality.
Naruto's arms found their way around her torso and under her knees. He lifted her bridal style and walked towards the fountain placing her down ever so gently. He sat across from her, admiring the aura's effect on her eyes and her pale skin. When Hinata's eyes met his, those beautiful oceanic orbs, she began to cry. Naruto, shocked, asked her, "Hey hey, what's wrong Hinata? Aren't you having a good time?" Hinata looked at the water, "Naruto, I'm having the time of my life…this fountain is so beautiful…and makes me so happy…it's just that, I don't want this night to end. You've been so busy these past months; it's been so hard to grow our relationship."
Tears fell from her eyes. It felt like no matter how close she got to Naruto, there was always something that kept pulling him away. It was then that she felt his fingers pull her chin up to meet his eyes. "Stop crying. I don't like seeing you cry Hinata, I love you." With that, he kissed her deeply. She kissed him back with passion sighing in relief. When they broke for air, a blush spread across both their faces. "Naruto-kun, I love you too."
Naruto got down on one knee. "Hinata, listen. Don't cry anymore okay? Just smile, I'm not going anywhere and neither are you." Her gasp startled the cat that was nearby as he pulled out a velvet box from his pant pocket. "Hinata, err, um. Will you marry me?" Her whisper was a soft, 'yes'. "Huh?" Naruto couldn't hear her as his own heartbeat was too loud for his ears. Then he saw her crying again. "Hinata?" She definitely was a ninja because he did not see her tackle coming. After an oof and a couple kisses, Naruto slipped the ring onto her finger and they found themselves gazing at the fountain once again. It would be a special spot; their special spot, for a lifetime.
