Five taps sounded on Elsa's door in a rhythm she remembered well from her childhood. Smiling to herself, she sat up in bed and looked toward the door. "Come in, Anna."

She stepped in quietly, smiling shyly as she closed the door shut behind her. "Hey."

"Hey. I'm glad you came because I need to ask you something."

Anna hopped up on the bed and lied on her stomach, propping her head up with her hands and resting her elbows on the bed. She looked at Elsa with an expectant smile. "If we're going to talk every night you should just move your bed back into my room."

Elsa smiled at the thought at first. They hadn't shared a room since they were kids, and she had no doubt that she would enjoy it. However, dark thoughts began to creep into the back of her mind about the nightmares she had had during all those years alone. Sometimes she had woken up to find her whole room coated in frost, or random shards of ice piercing into the wall. Though she was unsure whether or not her nightmares were gone, she couldn't risk Anna's safety. That was out of the question.

Probably noticing Elsa's change in expression, Anna's smile melted into a frown in response. "What's wrong?"

Elsa almost responded with a vague answer as to why she couldn't do what Anna wanted. She had been so used to never telling anyone what she felt that now she had to consciously make the decision that she was going to do so. Anna was her sister; she could tell her things.

"I used to have nightmares," she began to explain, hugging herself as if to squeeze out the bad memories. "I had no control over my powers when I slept, and sometimes when I woke up I would find my whole room practically destroyed."

"But you don't have the nightmares anymore, right?"

"I don't know."

"You were fine last night," she countered accusingly.

"That was one night, Anna." She straightened her back like she did when she had to assert her place as the big sister. "Even if there was just one slipup, I could hurt you."

"But you know how to control your powers now." Anna reached forward and grabbed Elsa's hands in hers. "Please?"

"No, Anna." She turned her head to the side as she slipped her hands out of her sister's grasp.

"You know, I don't think that you could ever hurt me, even when you're unconscious."

"You know that's not true," Elsa whispered, memories of her ice striking Anna's heart coming to the front of her mind. She pressed her hands together and shrank back against the headboard. She didn't like arguing with Anna.

"But-"

"I said, no, Anna!" Her words were spiced with a chilling wind that coated Anna and the bed in a sheet of frost.

Anna shuddered and brushed the small snowflakes off of her, rubbing her hands over her arms. Her face was fallen from the hopeful expression it had held just a moment ago, and she began to slide off the side of the bed.

As her feet hit the floor, Elsa felt her heart drop. The last thing she wanted to do was make her sister leave. Now that she could finally be around her, it was like she couldn't get enough of her presence. "Anna," she called softly, hugging her knees to her chest.

Her sister turned with a morose expression, barely meeting Elsa's eyes.

"Please don't go." She scooted over to the far side of the bed and turned up the corner of the blankets as she watched Anna shiver.

Anna attempted a tiny smile and crawled into the bed, grinning as she wrapped herself in the blanket like a cocoon. Elsa rearranged herself so that she copied Anna's position, except on top of the blankets (the ones that Anna weren't wrapped in, anyway). She had always slept like that, as she was never cold. They turned toward each other, Elsa being reminded of when they were kids.

"So what were you going to ask me?" Anna wondered, a tired smile persisting under drooping eyelids.

Elsa flipped onto her back, trying to arrange her feelings into thoughts. How could she phrase this, especially when she didn't quite know what she was feeling herself?

She sighed. Anna was her sister, not some foreign dignitary. She could speak to her plainly, right? Wasn't that what sisters were supposed to do?

"Well I was just thinking...I'm glad you found Kristoff and all, but I hope I'm not...getting in the way. Of course I love you and I want to spend time with you but if you'd rather be with him than I would understand-"

A loud snore cut her off mid-sentence. She turned to see Anna's mouth hanging slightly open, her eyes closed and her breathing slow and even. With an ironic chuckle, Elsa shook her head.

"Goodnight, Anna," she whispered, placing a soft kiss on her sister's forehead. She grabbed a pillow and slid down to the floor, curling up at the foot of the bed. This way, in the chance of nightmares, Anna would be safe. That was all that mattered...
