Chapter four Meetings

Outside the Black Dog Tavern

Aramis and Porthos followed d'Artagnan to the inn. They weren't worried about d'Artagana safety - he can look after himself. They were more interested this stranger. Just outside it an man around d'Artagnan age started to talk to him. Aramis and Porthos crept closer to hear what they were saying.

"I went to Gascony looking for your father, I was asked to give him a letter. I though it best you relived it" the man spoke in an English accent, must of been the same man who was at the garrison earlier.

"Who is it from?" Asked d'Artagnan, he sounded spurious.

"My grandfather. They knew each other long time ago" said the man, hesitantly "They had a falling out, before he died... he wish him to have the letter..."

D'Artagnan frowned "I'm pretty sure my father knew no one from from England"

The man paused for an moment "My parents are French...Gascons, I was brought to England as an very young"

"What your name?" Asked d'Artagnan in a dangours tone.

"You wouldn't believe me if I told you" said the man he looked at d'Artagana wearily.

D'Artagnan frowned deepen "Try me"

"My name is Francis d'Artagana. I'm your cousin" said the man. D'Artagnan slammed the man against the wall of the inn hard. "I swear on my life in telling the truth"

"You're not my cousin..." Aramis moved forward quickly followed by Porthos. Whether it was for d'Artagana benefits or the strangers they didn't know. "Why were you two following me?" Asked d'Artagnan

"Lets talk about that later" said Porthos at once. Why they followed d'Artagana wasn't important "First we need to talk to your new firend"

"For crying out loud, I am telling the truth" the man was starting to sound frustrated "Just listen to me pleases...Just for a minute..."

D'Artagnan didn't look impressed, but nodded his head. That surprise Aramis and Athos. Maybe d'Artagana did believe something the man said.

The man took a deep breathe "Your father name was Alexander d'Artagnan. He was brought by protested by our grandparents... untill he meet your mother. Our grandfather was angry and they agued. My father, your father's brother went to England and our grandfather come too... The farm you grow up on was passed down by our great uncle Cedric d'Artagnan"

D'Artagana looked an mixture of crossed and suprised "How do you know all that?"

"Because I am telling the truth..."

"My father said my grandfather died years ago - he wouldn't lie to me" Aramis and Porthos share a look. They were serects keep from d'Artagana. Serects and lies from his parents past. Serects and lies they swore not to tell d'Artagana.

"Why don't you cool off" suggest Porthos to d'Artagnan before anything happen "Go, think thing though remember... head over heart."

D'Artagana stormed off without a word. "I'm finding Athos" said Porthos. If anyone could clam d'Artagana's temper it was Athos.

Aramis grapped the back of the man jacket "And me and you are having an chat"

The man groaned to himself "I should of stayed in England" he said in English

The Musketeers' Garrison

Athos did enjoy the company of his brothers in arms, but he also enjoy some time on his own, enjoying the peace and quite. Aramis, Porthos and d'Artagana weren't exactly the most calmest of people, and between them cause more trouble than what Athos's though was humanly possible.

"Hey Athos did you hear the news?" Asked Ansel an musketeer who started the same time as him. He sounded serious.

Athos looked up "What news?"

"Phillip been killed" said Ansel "stab in the back when he was returning to the garrison. Treville livid"

Athos signed it wasn't good news and he hope the other would return soon. He didn't have to wait long before Porthos return alone. "You need to talk to a hot headed Gason" he said

"You shouldn't of followed him" comment Athos.

"That's not the promble" said Porthos, he looked around and carried on in an low voice once he was sure no one was listening in "The English man, he clamed his name is Francis d'Artagana with an letter from an grandfather d'Artagana believed to be long dead" Porthos paused for an moment "You know what the lad gets like when someone bring up his father..."

Athos closed his eyes for an moment. "Please say he didn't do anything stupid"

"He didn't kill his cousin if that what you mean" said Porthos "Aramis is will thr cousin now, d'Artagana stormed off somewhere"

"We better find him" sais Athos standing up "another musketeers been killed"

Athos and Porthos leave the Garrison. Athos informed Porthos what had happen to Philip, and Porthos retold what had happen out side the inn.

"Do you think we need to tell Treville?" Asked Porthos.

"I doubt his cousin knows anything about Treville" said Athos "and if Treville was going to tell d'Artagnan the truth he would of done it months ago... He would of done it after the situation with Pierre Degrand"

Porthos paused for an moment "well yet just hope Franis d'Artagana is in the dark about it as well"

In the Black Dog Inn

Armais sat with Franis and pass him some wine "So you swear you are telling the truth" asked Aramis again.

"Why would I lie?" Asked Franis

"You traveled a long way for one letter"

"My grandfather last wish was for his son to get this letter. Seeing as I can't devile this letter to my uncle I though I try and find my cousin" said Francis

"D'Artagana's temper hasn't made you want to leave?" Asked Aramis amused.

"I spend six months tracking him down, I can wait an fee more days" said Francis "Stubbornness runs in the family"

Aramis laughed "I don't think I meet anyone more stubborn than our Charlie, he will come back and you can talk"

The Cardinal Office

"I have a job for you" said the Cardinal looking out his window. He turn to Milady de Winter standing there.

"Who do you want dead?" Asked Milady

"I want you to devile message" said the Cardinal slowly, he's plan going around in his mind non stop.

Milady didn't look amused "I'm not interested in messages"

The Cardinal paused "The message is for an vistor in Paris goes by the name of Franis d'Artagnan"

"d'Artagana?" Asked Milady

The cardinal smirked "You are interested now?"

Milady smiled, and sweety dangours smile "What's the message?
