As the summery and memory 39 says, these chapters are out of order, they are memories that Vi has written down into her journal. I know they don't sound like her brash, punch happy self, but that's because she's rereading them, has not recollection of these events ever happening, and she's put off by this feeling.

The memories are numbered, if you want to find the plot out, read the chapters according to the memory numbers.

There isn't much else to explain about this story, but I thank everyone who reviewed and enjoyed, all I can hope for is that people understand.

PS: Mother is referring to deity in the temple that Vi stumbled into at the shadow isles. The "gauntlets" are warped by "mother" and serve her and Vi has been warped to serve mother as well.
