The Father of Sarah Grace

"I don't care about proper procedure or circumstantial evidence," Kevin Ryan told his partner in a low tone, anger rippling just under the surface. "Not for this one."

Before Esposito could reply, a commotion announced the returning presence of their newly released suspect, Scott Williamson. The man strutted his way to the elevator across the room. The doors slid open almost before the call button was pressed and Williamson stepped in, turned to push the button for the ground floor. He twiddled his fingers in a mocking wave goodbye in Ryan's direction, gloating smile twisting his lips, before the lift doors shut, blocking him from sight.

"I want him. I want that smug bastard," Ryan fumed quietly.

"I know you do, Kev," Esposito replied. "I do too."

"He was in my house," Ryan repeated his words from earlier that day. "He was standing ten feet from my infant sleeping in her crib. He threatened her. He threatened my daughter." He enunciated the last statement with a hushed, boiling rage, eyes sparkling with dark passion. Esposito couldn't remember ever having seen his partner as angry as he was then in that moment.

"We'll get him, bro," he reassured the new father.

Ryan just nodded, mouth in a grim line, then he walked off into the depths of the precinct.

As he watches his partner leave, Esposito can't help but think they had better get Williamson soon, for Ryan's sake, at least. Ryan's unspoken 'if we don't, I will' hung heavy in the air. And for the first time since he met the Irish detective, Javier worried not what Kevin would do when they did catch him, but worried what he would do if they didn't.

Don't mess with the daughter of Kevin Ryan.

Disclaimer: I don't own anything to do with the television show Castle.

Author's Notes: My first Castle story. This idea popped into my head just before I fell asleep last night. I managed to jot it down before crashing, and have been working on it all morning between (and occasionally during) classes. I love Kevin Ryan and the bromance between he and Espo. And Ryan as a father? Golden material. Irresistible. Hope you enjoyed! Love you all! Take care! God bless!

Edit (11/26/2014):Fixed up a few errors that I had previously overlooked. I'm thinking of continuing with this train of thought, but am as of yet unsure whether to add another chapter, or to start a new story. . . Oh well, I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually. xD
