Hey guys! hehehehe... I know that I've been really bad and you all are probably wishing for my death since I haven't updated in... many months but anyway! I had been to London and got to see the London performance and I was completely blown away by the awesomeness of the show! Geronimo, the phantom, was the first Hispanic man I've heard of to play the Phantom and played it beautifully.
But here you guys go, the final chapter of the Music of the Night: Yu-Gi-Oh!
Daphne had locked herself in her personal room. Yugi, Ryou and Malik had all come to her door asking if she was ok, she said she was but didn't want to come out for a little while. The three boys didn't push her and left.
Daphne made one last hiccup then felt a strong arm wrap around her shoulder. She turned to see Yami, a sad expression on the uncovered side of his face. Quickly, Daphne wrapped her arms around Yami's built chest and held tightly.
"What's wrong, my angel?" Yami asked sliding his fingers through the girl's black hair.
Daphne tightened her grip and said softly.
"They want me to help catch you." She made a hiccup and kept going. "I won't do it! They can't make me!"
Yami held the girl and slid a hand across her back to calm her. After a minute, Daphne pulled away, her face tear stained.
Yami made a small smile and used his hand to remove some of the tears.
"It will be alright." He said. "This isn't the first time they have come after me. I can anticipate what they'll do."
"But..." Daphne tried to argue. She wasn't sure if Yami was joking around or being serious but she was sincerely scared.
Yami kissed her cheek lightly and causing Daphne to blush and stop her sentence. Yami had become more comfortable with Daphne in the past few months and lately he had been using it to his advantages.
"I understand how you feel, Daphne." Yami said. "But I need you to do the show. You'll become privy to the information that they'll use for my 'capture.'"
Daphne hesitated then nodded, Yami knew what he was doing.
"I understand." Daphne said and hugged Yami tightly.
Yami returned the gesture for only a few moments.
"You should get going, rehearsals are starting soon; I'm expecting a lot of you."
Daphne smiled, gave Yami one last hug and kiss on the cheek, then quickly bolted out the door with the score. Yami stayed behind in the room. 'Those crimes.' He thought. The perpetrator was never found and Yami knew none who would've done it. 'I will watch Daphne a little more closely, for her own safety.'
O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O..O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O
The first rehearsal for Don Juan was just getting underway. The leads were able to sit in chairs while the chorus had to stand behind them. Yugi, Ryou, and Malik had been cast as high class servants in the opera so they were kneeling next to an empty chair, the chair Daphne would sit in when she arrived.
"Hide your sword now, wounded knight!" The chorus sang in a tone strange to operas. "Your vainglorious gasconade brought you to your final fight for your pride, high price you've paid!"
Daphne quickly entered the room and set her score on the top of the piano that Valon was playing.
"Silken couch and hay-filled barn!" Daphne sang. "Both have been his battlefield."
Sozoji looked at his score unsurely.
"Those who tangle with Don Juan..." Sozoji tried to sing but he fell flat, like fish.
"No, no, no!" Valon said in an exasperated voice. "Chorus rest, please!"
The chorus closed their scores and relaxed. "Don Juan." Valon said addressing Sozoji, but didn't get a response. "My lord Sozoji!" Daphne had walked past him to her seat and Valon nodded his head kindly to her.
"Si!" Sozoji called to Valon.
"This is the phrase!" Valon turned to the piano and played the notes.
"Those who tangle with Don Juan!" Valon sang. "If you please?"
"Those who tangle with Don Juan!" Sozoji tried again and the whole congregation flinched at how flat he was.
"Nearly, but no!" Valon played the piano again. "Those who tan, tan, tan..."
Sozoji mimicked him horribly and Daphne slid so that she wasn't in close ear shot.
"His way is better." Teá said in a bored voice. "At least he makes it sound like music!"
The chorus, minus Yugi, Ryou and Malik, laughed. Isis, who had been standing in the corner of the room, came closer then.
"My Lady," Isis said coldly, "would you speak that way in the presence of the composer?"
"The composer is not here." Teá said shrugging her shoulders. "And if he were here, I would.."
Isis interrupted then. "Are you certain of that, Lady Teá?"
Teá didn't answer. Silence rang through the room and only Valon's frightened cries brought everyone back to reality.
"So, once again if you please, my lord Sozoji!" Valon cried. "After seven!"
Valon played the key that Sozoji was going to be singing in and started to count. "Five, six, seven!"
The chorus leaned in while Sozoji gathered himself.
"Those who have been tangling with Don Juan!" He'd completely ruined the line.
Daphne, for a moment, thought she heard laughter from the rafters above them. 'Oh, Yami...' She mentally sighed.
The chorus groaned and Teá lost her patience.
"What does it matter what notes we sing!" She screeched. "No one will know if it is right or wrong! No one will care!"
Valon tried to soothe her while chaos reigned with chorus. Nobody noticed the paper fall from the ceiling into Daphne's lap. She opened it silently and read the contents.
'Time for some fun.'
Daphne raised an eyebrow. 'What did he mean?' She got her answer when the piano started to play by itself. It played the introduction to the song and everyone entered.
"Poor young maiden! For the thrill of your tongue of stolen sweets you will have to pay the bill.. Tangled in the winding sheets!"
O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O
Daphne pulled the cloak over her head and walked out the door of the opera house. She had told Yami where she was going; he had understood but she knew he was upset that she was going to be gone, even though it was only for a few hours.
It was the anniversary of her father's death.
She walked a small ways and opened her mouth unconsciously.
"In sleep he sang to me, in dreams he came... That voice which calls to me, and speaks my name..."
Timaeus, just pulling up in his carriage saw Daphne leaving. Salt still filled his mind; in a haste he took one of the horses from the carriage and followed Daphne silently to the cemetery.
Yami watched from the high tower. Daphne didn't deserve the sadness that came from losing a family member. Yami understood, even though he never knew his family. He turned to go back to his lair but spun around quickly when he heard the clop of horse hoofs. Timaeus was following from behind, no doubt up to something.
Daphne reached the cemetery, a large grass area filled with marble tombstones. Names from many families filled the cemetery, Daphne's father had taken one of the final spots.
"The little flower thought of everything and nothing..." Daphne sang. "Her father promised her he would send her the angel of music... Her father promised her... Her father promised her."
The tombstone came into view.
"You were once my one companion. You were all that mattered. You were once a friend and father, then my world was shattered. Wishing you were somehow here again. Wishing you were somehow near. Sometimes it seems, if I just dreamed, somehow you would be here!" Daphne brushed away tears and kept walking.
"Wishing I could hear your voice again. Knowing that I never would. Dreaming of you won't help me to do all that you dreamed I could."
Daphne's mind filled of her father. Him performing a great comedy and playing the greatest tragic hero. He always knew how to react to a situation and would always be ready to give advice.
Bells pealed in the distance. Someone was being buried.
"Passing bells and sculpted angels, cold and monumental. Seem for you the wrong companions. You were warm and gentle."
Daphne knelt in front of the tombstone. Images of his faith, the greek pantheon decorated the marble cover. The egyptian gods were on the side of his resting place to show that he was buried with honor from a high noble.
"Too many years fighting back tears, why can't the past just die? Wishing you were somehow here again, knowing we must say goodbye. Try to forgive, teach me to live, give me the strength to try!" Tears swam down her cheeks. "No more memories, no more silent tears . No more gazing across the wasted years..."
Daphne traced the name of her father and hung her head. "Help me say, goodbye. Help me say, goodbye." She rose her voice and the pealing of the bells stopped, the birds stopped singing, all just to listen to her.
"Wandering child, so lost, so helpless, yearning for my guidance..." A soft voice sang to her.
Daphne jumped to her feet and looked around. It wasn't Yami's voice, it was familiar but whose was it?"
"Who's there?" She called.
"Have you forgotten your angel?" The voice sang again.
"You are not my angel." Daphne growled. "Come out and speak to me face to face!"
"Daphne!" Yami pushed Daphne aside as a hooded figure jumped down and the two engaged in a sword fight.
Yami swung and blacked but had no difficulty. The hooded figure kept trying to get around Yami, most likely to get to Daphne.
"Bravo, Pharaoh!" The hooded man said as he swung. "Such spirited words!"
Yami growled and continued to swing and dodge. "More tricks, my lord?" The hooded man taunted. "More deception? More violence?" The hooded man chuckled. "What would your own family say about what you have done?"
Yami flinched and fought harder.
Daphne stood at the edge of the clearing, she didn't want to leave without Yami but his anger was keeping him here.
The hooded figure turned around and the perfect end to this fight.
"That's right, that's right, keep walking this way!" The hooded figure taunted again.
Yami would've kept going except something was thrown at the hooded man's head and the man tumbled down the hill. Daphne grabbed Yami's wrist and pulled back toward the opera house.
"You won't win this by becoming a killer yourself." She said.
Yami's body relaxed, what was he thinking? He went with his angel of music back to the opera house.
The hooded man finally rose to his feet and removed his hood. Timaeus stood there growling. They had gotten away again!
"So be it." He said. "Now let it be war, upon you both!"
Yami brought Daphne to his lair to rest for the rest of the afternoon. She had collapsed into the bed while Yami pulled the sheets up to her chin. He made sure she was comfortable then left to sit at his piano. He felt so horrible; he had let his anger get the better of him and scared Daphne. His fingers played a sad tune on the piano, heart breaking to some.
'Do, do, do.' He played.
'Da, da, da.' Someone else played.
Yami looked over and saw Daphne sitting next to him, her fingers draped over the keys. Yami laughed and played the same notes again.
'Do, do, do'
'Da, da, da.' Daphne played again.
They did this for a while, Yami's mood increasing all the while.
Daphne was waiting backstage for the start of the show, having deja vu for some strange reason. She was dressed in her costume, much more appropriate for her. A long red skirt with a slit going up her leg and a beautiful blouse that showed a little too much cleavage; Daphne was worried someone would get a nosebleed.
"Hey, super star!" Malik called to her.
Yugi, Ryou and Malik all came running toward her. They all were dressed in their costumes: black kilts and ornate necklaces.
Daphne laughed.
"Don't sell yourself short." She said. "You're roles are important to."
"Don't flatter us." Ryou said. "We don't deserve it."
Daphne looked to Yugi and the boy shrugged.
"I'm not going to enter the conversation." He said.
"You're no fun, Yugi!" Malik argued.
The rest of the group laughed and they sat together waiting for the show to start.
High Priest Seto and his servant, Jounouchi an unlikely friend of Yugi, came down the steps with a group of soldiers behind.
"You understand your instructions?" Seto barked to the soldiers.
"Sir!" The soldiers called back.
"When you hear the whistle, take up your positions. I shall then instruct you to close the doors. It is essential that all doors are properly secured!"
"Pegasus," Dartz managed with an obvious shake in his voice. "Are we doing the right thing?"
"Have you got a better idea?" Pegasus turned to give his partner an earful.
"My lord, am I to give the order?"
Timaeus turned to Seto and nodded quickly.
"Give the order." He growled.
Seto turned to Jounouchi and the blonde servant blew the whistle and the soldiers went out to their positions. "You! In the pit!" Timaeus pointed to a small boy with dark brown hair standing in the pit. "Do you have a clear view of that box?"
"Yes sir!" The boy, Rex replied.
"Remember, when the time comes shoot! Only if you have to but shoot to kill!"
"How will I know, my lord?" The boy asked.
"You'll know." Timaeus commanded lowly.
"Lord Timaeus, are you confident this will work?" Dartz asked wringing his hands. "Will Daphne sing?"
"Don't worry, Dartz! Pegasus?" Timaeus had shouted.
"We're in your hands, my lord." Pegasus mumbled.
"My men are in position, my lord." Seto told the angry Lord.
Timaeus took an uneasy breath. It was the beginning of the end.
"Go ahead then."
Seto turned to where he could see his men and called out.
"Are the doors secure?!"
Doors slammed, after each one a call of 'Secure!' rang through the large theatre. Timaeus nodded to himself, things were going according to plan. He and the managers were about to leave when a voice spoke through the walls of the building.
"I'm here: the Pharaoh of the Opera... I'm here: the Pharaoh of the Opera. I'm here... I'm here... I'm here!"
A shadow appeared in the Pharaoh's box causing Rex to panic and fire a shot at it.
"You idiot!" Timaeus snarled at Rex. "I said only when the time comes!"
"But my lord..." Rex tried to argue but was interrupted by the ghostly voice.
"No 'buts'! For once, Lord Pansy is right!"
Timaeus growled and the voice made a chuckle. "Seal my fate tonight." The voice sang it's challenge. "I hate to have to cut the fun short, but the joke's wearing thin. Let the audience in, let my opera begin!"
O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O
The curtain opened once again to show the final scene. A large table dominated the stage covered with food, wax food mind you. Tapestries lined the walls and the guests of this supposed banquet wore extravagant clothes to show high class. Valon began the sequence and all began to sing.
"Here the sire may serve the dam, here the master takes his meat! Here the sacrificial lamb utters one despairing bleat!"
Teá began singing the next lines in her high soprano while everyone else stayed at the melody. "Poor young dreamer! For the thrill of the tongue of stolen sweets, you will have to pay the bill- tangled in the winding sheets!" Some of the guests laughed as others were dragged off the stage by others. "Serve the meal and serve the maid! Serve the master so that when tables, plans and maids are laid, Don Juan triumphs once again!"
All of the guests laughed and started to run off the stage as Souzouji came on with Ryou by his side.
"Passarino faithful friend, once again recite the plan!" Souzouji sang to the boy.
"Your young guest believes I'm you! I, the master, you the man." Ryou sang back.
Everyone knew that it was crazy casting Ryou as one of the bad guys but Yami thought it was ingenious, who would suspect the boy?
"When you met, you wore my cloak, she could not have seen your face! She believes she dined with me in her master's borrowed place! Furtively, we'll scoff and quaff, stealing what in truth is mine. When it's late and modesty starts to mellow with the wine!"
"You come home! I use your voice... slam the door like crack of doom!" Ryou finished with a chuckle.
Souzouji nodded. "I shall say: Come hide with me! Where oh where? Of course, my room!"
The man turned to go grab some things while Ryou chuckled again.
"Poor thing hasn't got a chance!"
Souzouji turned back to hand Ryou some objects.
"Here's my hat, my cloak and sword. Conquest is assured, if I don't forget myself and laugh. Ha ha ha..."
Souzouji moved behind a curtain and went to put on the disguise for the next part of the scene. A hooded man walked past him. Suddenly, Souzouji falls through a trap door and ends up on the other side of the opera house, unharmed.
"Oops." The hooded man chuckled in a deep voice. "I guess I should've told you that was there."
Yami, in Souzouji's costume, moved to his spot backstage and heard Daphne sing her entrance.
"No thoughts within a head but thoughts of joy. No dreams within a heart but dreams of love!"
Daphne set down the basket of roses she had and settled herself at the feast table. Ryou, now in Don Juan's clothes, called to who he believed to be Souzouji.
"Master?"
Yami watched as Daphne grabbed an apple from the table and watched it longingly.
"Passarino..." Yami called back in Souzouji's voice. "Go away, for the trap is set and waits for it's prey!"
Ryou bowed quickly and left without a sound. Yami came out from behind the curtain and sang in his own voice.
"You have come here, in pursuit of your deepest urge. In pursuit of that wish which till now has been silent... silent." Yami picked up a goblet while Daphne stood up and walked to the other side of the stage. "I have brought you, that our passion may fuse and merge," Daphne continued to play with the apple but blushed at the lyrics,"in your mind you've already succumbed to me, dropped all defenses, completely succumbed to me."
Yami walked toward her carrying the goblet in a light grip. He walked around her and slid a finger down the spine of her back. Daphne jumped and blushed visibly. She had to calm down quickly, it would be disastrous if everything she and Yami had worked for fell apart if she let hormones get in the way. Yami took the apple from her and handed her the goblet. "Now you are here with me, no second thoughts: you've decided... Decided."
Timaeus was watching carefully and saw that Daphne had jumped when Don Juan did something to her back. 'Could it be? No.' Timaeus shook his head. It was impossible for him to sneak in with all the precautions that Timaeus had taken.
"Past the point of no return, no backward glances." Daphne had looked away seductively while Yami pulled it back in time with the music. "Our games of make believe are at an end." Daphne took a fake drink of the wine and went to wipe some of the make pretend drink off her lips. "Past all thought of 'if' or 'when'," Yami grabbed her hand and gripped it lightly, "no use resisting, abandon thought and let the dream descend." Yami took his other hand and wrapped it lightly around her waist, the girl remained calm and appearing teasingly, she pulled away and set the goblet back on the table. "What raging fire shall flood the soul? What rich desire unlocks its door? What sweet seduction lies before us?"
The hooded Yami walked calmly to where Daphne had sat down and place his hand lightly on the connection between her leg and her torso. "Past the point of no return, the final threshold." His hand slid slowly up her torso, but not being forward enough to touch anywhere where she might be too sensitive. Yami was a gentleman down to the core. "What warm unspoken secrets will we learn? Beyond the point of no return..."
Daphne stood up suddenly and tried to walk calmly to the other side of the stage. Her head was spinning but she had to keep it together.
"You have brought me to that moment where words run dry. To that moment where speech disappears into silence, silence." Daphne gave a small twirl while Yami watched from where he sat. "I have come here hardly knowing the reason why, in my mind I've already imagined our bodies entwining, defenseless and silent." She began to walk back to Yami slowly and she could feel that the audience was getting into the scene. "And now, I am here with you... No second thoughts, I've decided, decided..." Daphne leaned back against the table while Yami sat facing the audience, still in his hood.
Timaeus growled lightly, this has gone on long enough. He stood and walked briskly backstage.
"Past the point of no return, no going back now, our passion play has now at last begun." Daphne walked back over to Yami and slid a hand across his back. The man straightened swiftly. "Past all thought of right or wrong, one final question..." She took Yami's hands into a tight grip. "How long should we two wait before we're one?" She pulled Yami up swiftly and the two began to circle each other in a dance of dominance. "When will the blood begin the race? The sleeping bud burst into bloom? When will the flames at last..." Daphne stepped closer to Yami and was almost flush against him. "... consume us?"
Suddenly, Yami pulled her hands and tried to pull her back behind the curtain in which he had come in from.
"Past the point of no return, the final threshold!" They both sang. "The bridge is crossed so stand and watch it burn!" Yami stopped as they were about to exit and stood to face each other. "We've past the point of no return..."
Yami was suddenly pushed aside as Timaeus came on stage. The audience gasped while Daphne watched him carefully.
"Timaeus..." She whispered. "What are you doing?"
His fists were clenched and the young lord went towards Daphne.
"Say you'll share with me one love, one lifetime..." He sang, repeating the words he heard all the time when Daphne was alone in her dressing room. "Lead me, save me from my solitude." Timaeus continued to step towards Daphne while the girl backed away in fear. "Say you want me with you here beside you, anywhere you go let me go too." Timaeus almost had her in his grip. "Daphne, that's all I ask of-"
He was interrupted by Daphne's shriek of pain when he gripped her arms tightly.
"Daphne!" Yami called to her but Timaeus had made a run for it, throwing Daphne over his shoulder.
Soldiers ran across the stage and tried to stop the crazed lord but they couldn't catch him.
"My Pharaoh..." Isis whispered to Yami. "Timaeus was the one to exact those crimes, I know it now!" Yami gave her a surprised look while she continued unabated. "You must go after Daphne, I will prove your innocence. But please remember: keep your hand at the level of your eyes."
"Thank you, Isis." Yami muttered and like a shadow, fled the stage without another word.
O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O
Timaeus ran to a secluded part of the opera house while Daphne pounded on his back to release her. When they reached where Timaeus had wanted to be, the crazed man dropped Daphne onto what looked like a bed and tried to grip her tightly again. Daphne kicked and fought until she managed to get away.
She ran to the door but it was locked. Daphne turned back to see Timaeus growling like an animal.
"Have you gorged yourself at last with your lust for blood?" She snarled at her former friend, now a murderer in her eyes. "Am I now to be prey to your lust for flesh?"
Timaeus snarled back. "This fate, which condemns me to wallow in blood has also denied me the joys of the flesh!" He tried to take her face but she slapped his hand away. "His face... The infection which poisoned our love!"
She turned to him. Did he think that she would fall in love with him? "His face, which earned a mother's fear and loathing." Daphne clenched her fists, that wasn't true at all. "A mask, his first unfeeling scrap of clothing. Your love is not his to keep! I should have killed your love long ago, now an eternity of this will never go!" He jabbed at the ring around Daphne's neck. Timaeus had hated the Angel of Music since the first time Daphne's father had ever spoken about him. All that ever came from Daphne was the Angel of Music, now was the end of it.
"His haunted face is not the source of your hate." Daphne told her old friend. "It's in your soul that the true despair lies."
Timaeus pushed her against the wall and tried to pull of the blouse that she was wearing. He stopped suddenly.
"Wait!" Timaeus called. "I think, my dear, we have a guest."
Sure enough, Yami came down from the ceiling and gave Timaeus a look of pure anger.
"Yami!" Daphne called and tried to get out of Timaeus' grip.
"Sir, this is indeed an unparalleled delight!" Timaeus gave a crazed chuckle. "I had rather hoped that you would come!"
Timaeus pulled Daphne off the wall and gripped her neck in a tight grip.
"No!" Yami shouted into the room.
"And now my wish comes true- you have truly made my night." Timaeus bowed to Yami mockingly.
"Free her!" Yami shouted and Timaeus gave a laugh. "Do what you like only free her! Have you no pity?"
Timaeus rolled his eyes and gave a look to Daphne.
"Your lover makes a passionate plea." He groaned while Daphne continued to fight against his grasp.
"Please Yami, it useless!" Daphne gasped.
"I love her! Does that mean nothing I love her! Show some compassion!"
"Your compassion did this to her!"
Yami put his hands down and begged.
"Daphne, Daphne. Let me see her!"
"Be my guest..." He let her go and Daphne gasped for air. "sir."
Timaeus backed away unsurely while Yami bolted to her side. Yami held her tightly while she took in Yami's scent, trying not to fall into hysterics. Timaeus when he had seen enough, he turned and grabbed the rope he had prepared for this moment. "Good sir, I bid you welcome! Did you think that I would harm her? Would should I make her pay for the sins which are yours!" Timaeus wrapped the rope around Yami's neck and pulled him across the room.
"No!" Daphne shouted to the fighting Yami.
Every time Yami moved the rope would get tighter and tighter. Soon enough, Yami had to stand on the tips of his toes to get air.
"Order your fine horses now!" Timaeus had started to shout. "Raise up your hand to the level of your eyes! Nothing can save you now except perhaps... Daphne."
Daphne moved to get away but Timaeus grabbed her by the arms. "Start a new life with me! By his freedom with your love! Refuse me and you send your lover to his death! This is the choice!" Timaeus pushed Daphne to the ground and continued to stand above her. "This is the point of no return!"
Daphne gazed at the floor. There was no way out and if she chose wrong...
"The tears I might have shed for your dark fate grow cold and turn to tears of hate!" She gave Timaeus a look of death and she stood to her feet.
"Daphne, forgive me, please forgive me... I did it all for you, and all for nothing." Yami sang to her.
"Farewell my lost companion and false friend!" Daphne sang to Timaeus then turned to Yami, her eyes pleading. "We had such hopes, how can those hopes just shatter?"
Timaeus growled and came back toward the two.
"Too late for turning back, too late for tears and useless pity!"
Yami continued to fight against the noose.
"Say you love him and my life is over..."
"All hope of cries for help; no point in fighting!" Timaeus shouted over the two.
"For either way you choose, he has to win/ you cannot win!" Both of them sang.
Timaeus tightened the rope around Yami's neck and grinned coldly as he began to make choking sounds. He turned back to Daphne, who by now had tears running down her cheeks.
"So, do you end your days with me, or do you send him to his grave?"
"Why make her lie to you, to save me?"
Timaeus growled again and made the rope even tighter.
"Angel of Music..." Daphne called.
"Past the Point of no Return-" Timaeus snarled as he came over to Daphne.
"For pity's sake, Daphne, say no!" Yami called to her.
"Who deserves this?" Daphne sang gesturing to Yami while she watched Timaeus.
"The final threshold..." Timaeus continued unabated.
"Don't throw your life away for my sake!" Yami begged.
Daphne took Timaeus' hand but the man wrenched it away. "Why can't you choose mercy?"
"His life is now the prize which you must earn!" Timaeus finished with a sneer.
"I fought so hard to free you..." Yami choked.
"Angel of Music..." Daphne tried to run over to Yami, to take the noose off but was grabbed quickly.
"You've passed the point of no return." Timaeus hissed in her ear.
Daphne ripped her arm away and didn't look at her old friend.
"You deceived me." Daphne hissed. "I gave my mind blindly!"
"Blindly?" Timaeus asked then turned Daphne to look her in the eye. "You try my patience... Make your choice!"
Daphne gave one last look at her Angel then turned back. She didn't look to Timaeus and went to sit down on the bed. Timaeus smiled coldly to Yami then went to sit next to Daphne. "You made the right choice, my dear."
"Daphne..." Yami whined and tears escaped Daphne's eyes.
"Don't even bother, monster." Timaeus chuckled. "She has made her choice.
As soon as he was in reach, Daphne grabbed Timaeus' sword and held it to his throat. She didn't shake as she slowly moved away and cut Yami down. Her Angel breathed while Daphne continued to watch Timaeus.
"Yes, Timaeus." She hissed. "I made my choice and I choose Yami, my Angel of Music."
Timaeus growled and seemed like he was going to charge at them till Yami, as quiet as a shadow tied the crazed man's arms together and pushed him against the wall.
"That should teach you." Yami muttered.
Daphne left Timaeus' sword on the ground while she and Yami left the room just as the guards bust down the door.
The two walked down a passage that would lead them back to the stage. Daphne gripped Yami's hand tightly and rejoiced when his hand returned the same amount of pressure.
They were almost there when Yami pulled away from Daphne's grasp.
"What is it?" She asked.
Yami looked down and played with the edge of his mask.
"I don't belong out there, Angel." He said sorrowfully. "I belong here, in the shadows."
Daphne took his hand again and led him toward the end of the corridor.
"There is no need to be afraid of the light." Daphne cooed at him. "As long as I'm here with you, you don't have to be afraid."
Yami didn't seem convinced and continually tried to pull back. Daphne sighed and stopped pulling on his hand. "Pitiful creature of darkness, what kind of life have you known?" Daphne sang softly. "God give me courage to show you, you are not alone."
She took off Yami's mask and touched her lips to his. Yami gave a gasp but soon gave in to the feelings she was pulling him through. Daphne ran her hand across the deformity, taking in every burn and twist that no longer seemed hideous. She pulled away and took the man into a hug. Yami wrapped his arms around her waist and smiled broadly. "I love you, Yami."
Yami pulled her away and kissed her nose earning a giggle.
"Masquerade paper faces on parade... Masquerade hide your face so the world will never find you..." Yami smiled and put his forehead on Daphne's, the girl who had brought him out of this darkness. "Daphne, I love you..."
Daphne smiled and started to pull on Yami's hand again.
"Say you'll share with me one love, one lifetime."
"Say the word and I will follow you..."
"Share each day with me each night, each morning."
Yami no longer pulled away and went to stand next to Daphne.
"You alone can make my song take flight."
"It's over now, the music of the night!"
Timaeus, after he had been found, was arrested for murder and other assorted crimes and was taken away to prison. Isis had successfully made Yami an innocent man by speaking to the most powerful man around, the Pharaoh Atem. The man had recognized Yami as his brother and welcomed him home with open arms. Daphne had become a princess after her marriage to Yami, a new prince, but was still able to perform at the opera house with Yami still composing.
The two were able to live happily till they died, listening to the music that they created together.
