Natsu Says Good Bye to Mermaid Heel

As Master Casablanca promised, the celebration party was held. The women of Mermaid Heel were all happy for the erasing of the law and the new friendship between Fairy Tail and Mermaid Heel. Natsu as the only guy around, became the star of the party and the centre of attention. The girls who met him in the hall noticed him as the girl they saw with Kagura and Melinda. They quickly warmed up to Natsu after listening to the whole story and spent hours teasing him about the disguise, much to his annoyance. As for Happy, he was also become the star of the party, what with many girls, just like Milliana, found him very cute. They hugged him and cuddled him in true Milliana-fashion (some of them even asked Natsu if he could give him to them, which of course both Natsu and Happy refused).

A figure sat in a booth a little away from the crowd, a drink in one hand. She watched everyone (particularly Natsu) with a smile or her face. By now, Kagura's smile was already noticeable for all her guildmates. They were surprised (more like freaked out actually), but then they were happy for the change. Some even said that she looked more beautiful now. She watched as Natsu dance with Risley, then with Arana, on the centre of the room and tried hard not to giggle.

"May I sit here?" She looked up to see Erza with her own drink in her hand.

"Yes, of course." Erza took a seat next to Kagura and looked at the same direction.

"Really lively here isn't it?"

"Mmhm..."

"Why don't you go there and have some fun yourself?"

"Why don't you?"

Erza smiled. "I think I feel a little awkward here because this is not my guild. My social skill is not as good as Natsu. If it is Fairy Tail, I usually participate in the commotion. Besides I have to watch out for Natsu, in case he get carried away and started a fight. If it is Fairy Tail, then I guess it is okay, but we're in another guild."

"Is fighting a common thing in Fairy Tail?"

"You can say that. But even so, we're not really fighting because we hate each other. It's just for fun. For Natsu at least."

"He really does enjoy fighting huh?"

"He is." Suddenly, it all became silent between them. Neither girls knew what to say. Kagura sipped her drink quietly while Erza looked absently at her own cup. "Sooo..."

"What is it?" Kagura turned to Erza.

"About your talk with Natsu... about revenge..." Kagura stiffened.

"Mater told you didn't she?"

"Please don't blame her. I asked her to tell me." Everything became silent again for awhile, until Erza said "Back then, I didn't realize you were there. I didn't know you were listening." Kagura kept silent and let her talk. "It must be very confusing and painful to you. I wanted to explain everything to you when I had time but I kept hesitating. In the end, Natsu was the one who did it. I am sorry."

"But it doesn't matter" Kagura said for the first time. "It doesn't matter who told me. In the end, I know the truth. And for that, I am relieved. I do not blame you. I know that you must be hurting yourself."

Erza looked cautiously at Kagura from the corner of her eye. "Do you still want to kill Jellal?" she asked, with her voice barely above whisper.

She looked at Erza. Her face lost the smile and came back into its stoic look. "No" she replied with equally soft voice.

"Do you...still hate him?"

Kagura took her time. A few moments passed and Erza almost thought that Kagura didn't hear her question until she heard her reply in even softer voice. "No."

Erza felt relief flood through her body and she smiled. "But I still don't like him either" she heard Kagura added, but the relief still didn't leave her.

"Thank you Kagura."

"For what? I should be the one who thank you. You saved me twice."

"For forgiving me and Jellal for Simon's death."

Kagura frowned. "I cannot say I've forgiven him, but I'll give up taking revenge. It is more for my own sake than for him. It is for my freedom. I realized that after watching Natsu." She looked back at Natsu, who was having a fist-fight with Larissa. Looking at them now, you wouldn't believe that Larissa had tried to slaughter him just a few hours ago, seeing how much fun she had with Natsu. "He seems so carefree, so cheerful, like he has no burden in this world. He befriends people easily, and not someone who hold grudges for long. He is always being himself. I realized that the reason I couldn't smile, that I couldn't be happy, was because my hatred was weighing down on me, on my heart. It became my burden, and without letting it go, I can never be free. And now that I finally let go of my hatred and desire for revenge, I feel light. Like a huge burden has been taken off my shoulder. I feel...well...free."

Erza smiled. "I can see that you've changed Kagura. And it's for the better. I am happy for you.

The smile came back to Kagura's face. "I know. Thank you. Who knows that a short talk with Natsu can make me feel this way?"

"I am not really surprised. Natsu has this strange power that affected people around him. And he always does anything for a friend in need."

"A friend...yes..." Kagura said, still in a dazed way. She never made any friend outside her guild before and even in her guild, there were very few people who were close to her. Usually, her strict demeanour, reserved attitude and stoic disposition would drive anyone away and even made some people scared of her. She never thought she needed any friend. Up until recently, she preoccupied her thought with revenge. Despite not having any close friends (aside maybe Milliana), she did care for all her guildmates. And all of them respected her but none came really close to her. But Natsu was different. He wasn't scared of her. Sure he felt awkward for sometime but then he talked to her and acted around her like he usually did and even outrightly claimed her as one of his friends. Or maybe that's because he befriended Erza who had similar personality with hers. Still, he was the first person who ever called her a friend and she was happy.

"When Natsu already trust a person, that means he already considers that person as a friend. And he already feel very close to you if..."

"Kagura! Fight me!"

"...if he challenges you to a fight. Oh my God. This is what I dreaded." Erza let out a big sigh.

Kagura raised an eyebrow and giggled (which thankfully, only Erza could hear. Her guildmates already freaked out by seeing her smile. She didn't know what their reaction would be if they heard her giggling). She stood up and Erza looked up at her. "You don't have to accept his challenge."

"It's okay. After all..." She watched as Natsu lunged at her. "He is my friend and fighting means friendship in his book, right?"

That Night:

"Sorry. We ended up keeping you here until it's late" Kagura said as she looked up at the night sky. They were all at the gate, saying good byes to Natsu, Erza and Happy.

"Er-chan, come again soon okay?" Milliana said from behind Kagura.

"You too Natsu, Happy" Risley added.

"Let's dance again next time!" Arana said while shaking her body.

"We always welcome you guys here." Beth smiled at them

"And take some guys or girls in Fairy Tail with you" Melinda chimed in.

Erza smiled at all of them. "Thank you. It's nice to come here. You guys should also visit us in Magnolia. We will always welcome you."

"Yeah! Despite all the trouble and chasing, I like being here. Let's fight again next time Larissa!"

Larissa grinned at Natsu. "You bet!"

"You too Kagura!"

Kagura smirked. "I just defeated you a few minutes ago." The fight really didn't last long. Kagura quickly defeated Natsu with her gravity magic by slamming him, face first, to the ground.

"I'll win next time!"

"We'll see."

"Aye! But next time. You guys should be the ones coming to our guild. Fairy Tail is a lot of fun you know."

Casablanca smiled. "We will. Maybe next month we will visit. Say hello to Makarov-dono for me."

"Of course. Well, we'll take our leave." Erza bowed while Natsu and Happy waved at them. The women waved back at them.

Natsu looked at Kagura, who was smiling at him as he walked away. He didn't really understand it but the smile looked very nice on her face and he liked it. He smiled back at her. His gaze never left her face, imprinting her smile on his memory, until he couldn't see her anymore from the distance.

Back in Fairy Tail:

Just like that morning, Mirajane was preparing drink at the bar while humming to herself, oblivious to the tense atmosphere in the air. The girls were there and they had heard about what happened from the guys. They knew about Mermaid Heel's special rule and were dreading what would happen to Natsu. Suddenly, the guild door was opened, startling everyone (except Mirajane who was happily oblivious to the tenseness). Natsu walked in followed by Happy and Erza.

"We're back!"

Everyone's jaws dropped as they watch the new arrivals walked to the bar to where Mira was. How could Natsu came to Mermaid Heel and came back unharmed?!

Mira smiled at them. "Welcome back. How's the cooperation? Did it work?"

"It did. Master Casablanca thanked us for the gift. She says hello to master" Erza replied.

"I'll tell that to him."

"Yeah! That granny sure is nice, though she smiles way too much." Natsu grinned. Oblivious to the shocking look his guildmates were giving him.

"Aye! She even said sorry for the trouble we had gone through."

"Trouble? What trouble?" Jet asked.

Natsu started to tell them (with occasional remarks from Happy) the whole story about his visit to Mermaid Heel (excluding the fact that Kagura couldn't swim because he always kept his promise to a friend no matter what it was), starting from his encounter with Larissa in front of the gate until the party. At the end of the story, everyone had different reactions. Some laughed and some (mostly guys) stared at him enviously.

"So you ended up disguising as a girl?! Men, I wish I was there to see it myself!"

"Oh, shut up!"

"So Mermaid Heel's Master erased that law of forbidding men to come in because of you?"

"Well, yeah."

"And you partied all night with all those women?"

"Yeah."

Now all the guys were staring at him enviously. Natsu, oblivious, turned to Mira. "By the way Mira, you still promised me that spicy juice."

Mira gave him a small smile. "I did. But I'll make it for you tomorrow. With all the things you've gone through today, I think it's best for you to go home and have some rest."

Natsu frowned for a second but then shrugged. "Okay, but make sure to make it for me tomorrow though."

"Of course Natsu."

"Let's go Happy!" The guys still looked at him enviously as the two best friend walked (or in Happy's case, fly) to the exit, talking excitedly about their experience in Mermaid Heel.

"Hey Natsu! We should visit again next week. Milliana promised me a fish from their lake the next time I come. She said we're permitted to fish there now."

"You're right Happy! Besides, Arana said she wanted to teach me a new dance move, and I promised Larissa a fight..." Kagura's smiling face appeared in Natsu's mind as he grinned. "...and Kagura too."

"So it's settled then. We'll visit again next week!"

"Yeah!"

At this, all the guys ran at Natsu at the same time. "TAKE US WITH YOU!"

And so it's finally over. I hope enjoyed this story. Thank you for the reviews
