Though Bra wanted to share the news with everybody, Goten asked for a few days to gather his courage to face Vegeta. So they decided to tell it to Trunks first. Goten promised to have lunch with him anyhow and Bra simply joined them. Once Trunks saw Bra in the cafeteria as well, he was a bit confused.

"I though you hate to be in the office" He said, looking at his sister.

"Until I don't have to do anything here, it's fine" She smiled, while Trunks sit down at the table as well.

"I need to tell you something!" Goten said, feeling nervous.

It was strange in a way, as he and Trunks shared everything since they were children, yet somehow telling him that he is dating his little sister… it frightened him. More so, as Trunks knew about every single one of his girlfriends (though he hoped he doesn't have an exact number as just how many he dated) and he was aware, how he handled them. Sure, he wasn't a complete jackass, but he had no emotional attachments to any of them.

"Oh" Trunks said, then looked over at Bra, back at Goten and repeated: "Oh!"

"I'm glad that's out of the bag" Goten jabbered and he was about to get up, but he felt a soft but strong hand on his shoulder, pressing him back; it was Bra.

As Trunks continued to look at him, he felt like he was trying to read his mind. Finally, when his best friend answered his palms began to sweat.

"I really hope you know what you are doing. If you break her heart, you will have to deal with me, not to mention father. I guess you haven't told him yet.

"No" Goten shook his head. "I wanted to tell it to you first, because in case you would decide to kill me, that wouldn't be as slow and painful as Vegeta's attempt."

"True" Trunks smiled and all three of them began to laugh.

"I told you he will be ok with it" Bra smiled at Goten. "Also, it's not like it is a complete surprise, as I already informed everybody ages ago."

"Regarding that" Trunks looked at his sister "I hope it's not just one of your fits. In case you are just playing with him to prove, that you can literally have everything what you want, I will hold you responsible."

"What?" Bra asked, taken aback.

"You heard me. He is my best friend!"

After this talk, Goten had to face the real challenge; Vegeta. While he wanted to drag it on, Bra insisted to break the news the next day. He arrived at Capsule Corp the next morning and found Vegeta and Bra in the kitchen, just finishing breakfast.

"Trunks is not here" Vegeta commented, not glancing up from his meal.

"I know" Goten answered. "I'm actually here to talk with you."

"Me?" The prince asked, now looking up at the demi-saiyan.

He had no idea, what Goten wanted from him. He seemed rather nervous as well, which was strange. Sure, he was aware that he had an imposing personality, but by now he assumed Goten was used to it. He spent more time here as he would have preferred, at least at the beginning. He remembered how absurd it appeared to him, that Trunks was playing with that mini-clown. While Bulma explained to him, that it was good that their son had an another demi-saiyan to play with, he just couldn't see it back then. It wasn't customary for saiyan brats to play, they were spending their whole childhood on missions, killing other races and blowing up planets. Then as the years passed by, he had to realise that Bulma was once again right. When Bra became friends with Pan and Marron, he had no objections.

"I'm… dating Bra!" Goten blurted out and his muscles stiffened, ready to take a punch at the next second.

To his utter shock, Vegeta remained sitting on the chair and merely looked at him. After he looked at Bra, he sighed:

"As hideous as it is, I'm not startled."

"Huh?" Goten managed to ask.

"I won't repeat myself boy!"

"Does that mean you are ok with it?" Goten pushed.

Naturally he wasn't ok with it, but sincerely he knew he wouldn't be ok with anybody. Had Bra not warned him all those years ago, he might have punched Goten in the face right now. But he knew Bra; she always got her way, even with him! And that was something, as even Bulma had to fight him, that's why they argued a lot. Bra for some strange reason was even worse; she got what she wanted without a 2-3 hour long hassle.

"Of course I'm not OK with it!" He answered on an ice-cold tone. "You give me one small excuse and I will kill you!"

"I won't! Trunks already promised something similar."

"Oh" Vegeta smiled cynically "whatever he will do to you, that won't be anything, compared to my actions. When I'm through with you, you will beg me to end your life!"

With that, Vegeta got up and wanted to leave the room.

"Thank you daddy!" Bra jumped up and hugged him.

Goten needed a few minutes before his pulse went back to normal. While he anticipated receiving a death threat from the prince, the way he said it… the way he was looking at him… that was something, he never expected. He knew about his past, but knowing and seeing was two utterly different things.

"It went rather well" Bra stepped to him and kissed him on the lips.

"You can say it" He answered, then kissed her back.

He never expected that it will be her own mother, who will take the news the worst. He was having dinner with his parents, when he casually said:

"I'm dating Bra."

"Ok, I guess" Goku nodded, not stopping in eating.

"I already told it to Vegeta and surprisingly I'm still in one piece" Goten smiled, but jumped up as Chichi hit her fist in the table.

As soon as the young saiyan looked at her mother, he was sure something was terribly wrong. But what? He risked a glance on his father, but Goku seemed equally clueless about the root cause of his wife's anger. Goten barely opened his mouth to ask something, when Chichi cried out:

"Are you serious?!"

"Well, yeah. I'm just not sure, why you are so angry about it."

"So you don't know?!" Chichi shouted so loud that it caused physical pain to both saiyans.

Goten began to think really hard. As far as he knew, his mother had no issues with Bra and she should be actually happy, as she was rich. He remembered quite well, that the moment Chichi approved Goten's relationship with Videl was, when she learned how rich her father was. Hence, if for nothing else, her mother should be happy.

"No. I mean Bra is a nice girl and not that it matters for me, but she is the heir of Capsule Corp."

Chichi became red from the rage and she hit his son full in the face with her frying pan, causing him to step back as he was not prepared for this impact.

"Au! Geez, now you are scarier than Vegeta!"

"That's it" Chichi shouted again, leaning close to his face. "How can it be, that you tell this to Vegeta sooner, as to your own mother?!"

"What?!" He asked, trying to make some sense from it.

"I'm your mother Goten, I should have been the first who heard the news!" She said and began to cry: "Is this really how you treat me?"

Goten again looked at his father for help, but he seemed even more clueless, than he himself. After watching his mother cry for a couple of seconds, he said:

"I'm sorry, I never considered that it will make you sad that I talked with Vegeta first."

"You better remember that next time!" Chichi called, dying up her tears.

"There won't be any next time" Goten murmured.

"True" Goku nodded. "You either marry her eventually or Vegeta would kill you. Was he really ok with it? I mean it's not like you are injured, apart from the bump, which you got from Chichi."

"More or less, we can say so."

"Hm, he really changed a LOT, since he first came to Earth" Goku scratched the back of his head, smiling.

When Bra saw the bump the next morning and she heard the story behind it, she just couldn't stop laughing.

"And you seriously believed that my father will be the most dangerous?"

Goten had no answer to that, so he just looked at her and smiled sheepishly.

"So it was Goten all along?" Kale asked, when he finished his training with Pan.

"Yepp" Pan nodded, wiping away the sweat from her face with a towel. "She was in love with him since she was 7.

"Had I known that… I could have avoided a rejection from her."

"Don't take it personal, she rejected a lot of guys!"

"Easy for you to say!"

"Oh no! I bet I was rejected more time than you." Pan sighed.

"What?"

"Yes, it's the story of my life. Regardless how much I try to behave normal, I just can't. Even though I'm more human than saiyan, I just stand out and all the boys are afraid of me."

"Humans have a strange way of thinking. Maybe you should try to date a saiyan, here everybody is mesmerized by your strength."

"Saiyans are not exactly dating" Pan answered, but it seemed an idea worth to explore.

She knew how the saiyans respected her, even the ones, who were much older and had way more experience in fighting. On the other hand, while saiyans changed a lot, they well still a long way from showing their real feelings and getting rid of the idea, that feelings make a fighter weak. Pan wanted to be in love and loved back and with a saiyan, that just seemed almost impossible.

"Why did you wanted to take Bra as your mate anyway?" she asked, looking at Kale.

It seemed impossible, that he was in love with Bra, though he was one of the saiyans, who spent the most time with the demi-saiyans and humans.

"What kind of question is that?" Kale asked back, confused.

"I mean… most of the guys on Earth, wanted to ask her out, because she is cute. But somehow I doubt that you or anybody else from this planet gives a shit about the looks. Sorry for putting it out this way, but I want to make you understand the question.

"True. She is royal and she is strong. While her looks might be appealing, that has indeed nothing to do with my interest."

Here he wanted to stop, but added, despite himself:

"She is very beautiful though and her blue hair and blue eyes are enhancing it as that contradicts the saiyan genes."

"Still you chose your mate based on her power level, right?"

"Just like everybody else! I have no idea, how humans select their mates… every one of them is pathetically weak."

"I think in order for any of you to understand it, you will need at least an another 9 years or so" Pan smiled, while she stretched out her muscles.

As Vegeta walked towards the throne room, he passed the laboratory on its way. He stopped for a short while and observed the work there. The "science team" had 12 members right now, all of them were from different species. It was a bit like Freeza's planets, with the huge difference that these individuals were on Vegetasei on their free will. Also, they give their best to research and obtain new technologies, not because out of fear, but because it was also in their interest that the saiyans prosper. Vegeta continued his way, just to pass a classroom, with several saiyan children in it. About 2 years ago, Garla decided to try out something similar to the human education system. Of course as they were primarily fighters, the education only lasted a few months and it had totally different subject, as the school on Earth. The children learned how to use the ships navigation system, first aid, minor repairs, etc. Still, it looked promising as it helped out some of the younger ones on their missions. Even Gohan became a teacher here; the only demi-saiyan who was training their brains, not their bodies.

"You are finally here" King Vegeta said, looking up from a map, which covered the whole desk.

Vegeta nodded and joined them. They had an ambassador with them from planet Versus, who asked for their help to break out his friends and families from their enemies' prison. While the 2 races shared the same planet, they were in constant war.

"Verdure, how would you proceed?" King Vegeta asked, looking at his younger son.

"It's rather simple" Verdure began and while he placed the figures on the map, which symbolised the troops, he explained his plan.

Vegeta held back and only observed the conversation. While his brother's plan had some flaws (which were pointed out by Garla), it was good.

"What do you think?" King Vegeta asked later, when the meeting was over and he remained in the room alone with Vegeta.

"With his original plan he would have killed at least 50 civilian on the planet and some of the saiyans would have sustained some injuries as well" He called.

"Well, not killing civilians is something what we only recently consider" The King answered.

"Indeed" Vegeta nodded, thinking again about the long way, the saiyans made since they were bought back to life. "Regardless, it wasn't bad."

"You see, at some days I still wonder why you simply gave up the throne."

Before Vegeta could answer, he continued:

"Then again, it might be something what I will never understand. I accepted it a long time ago… not that I had much choice in the matter anyhow. Still, I'm contended, that you are at least around and help us out; help Verdure."

"We might have more enemies now than ever." The prince smirked.

In a way, it was true. At the old days, every enemy they had was destroyed by their hands. Now as they only protected others, the enemy warrior races remained alive, even if they lost a huge amount of fighters. Saiyans gave up on their ways to completely eradicate others, in case that could be avoided. Surprising as it was; they could almost always fend them off, without killing each one of them. Vegeta recalled their last meeting with Kibitoshin, who said:

"I never thought the saiyans will actually end up the protectors of the universe. For a brief period, we even considered blowing up Vegetasei with a meteor-shower."

"Oh, so that's why even Kaio believed, that Vegetasei was blown up by a meteor and not by Freeza!" Goku called, remembering the time he spent on Kaio's planet.

Bra was sitting at the top of a hill, opposite to the one on which the castle was build, when Vegeta joined her. The prince was surprised when he has seen Bra there for the first time, as it was his favourite spot, when he was a child. In a way it was funny, that he has completely forgotten about it, until he flew above it, hurrying to meet Kakarott in the desert to spar. From this place the whole area around the castle was visible, which was cut off by the sea north, while it was surrounded by mountains from the south. In the other two directions it was wasteland, until the eye could see.

"Long strategy meetings?" Bra asked, smiling at her father, when he sit down on the ground, next to her.

"It was quite bothersome as this time it was Verdure, who came up with the plan" Vegeta answered.

"Sure, sure! I bet everybody knows, that nobody's plan can be as flawless as yours" Bra laughed.

Vegeta decided to ignore this remark and remained silent. As the sun was setting in the horizon, the sky became red, like somebody built fire on the clouds. He missed the sunsets, regardless how he tried to deny it. While sometimes it was similar on Earth, it was never quite the same. He was aware, that even though he got back his birth planet (and yes, it was not his home planet… not any more) almost 10 years ago, it took him month, until he fully accepted the change. He wasn't sure, that Bra's wish will work out, saiyans just never had it in them to preserve something. Not even themselves, as their numbers got thinner and thinner due to their heavy losses in the constant wars. They were doomed either way; Freeza just accelerated their death. Eventually they would have died out, with their life style. Yet now… he had to confess, that he was wrong. He, who was the prince of his own race, never held them capable to adopt an another lifestyle, to give up some of their old traditions. Also it was good to know that with his and Kakarott's death, the race will prevail. Sure they had their own children, who had the potential to surpass them, still it was good to know that the universe had the whole saiyans as protectors. Speak about irony! The prince was aware after Buu, that he had everything what he ever wanted; home, family and strength, but now… Now he had so much more, what he ever dreamed to have! It seemed like the dragon balls heavily influenced his life; if not for them, he might have never come to Earth, never rose up against Freeza on Namek… Yet, those crystal orbs had a power beyond Shenlong; they had a way to change lives; to make people meet, who might not have met otherwise. As Vegeta watched the last part of the sunlight disappeared, he become conscious that for the first time since forever he had a bright smile on his face. Who would have thought?

This is the end of this story, hence once again, I'm really grateful for every single one of you, who read it. This actually means that I managed to create something, that kept you interested and I'm happy for that :) Now there is your last chance (at least regarding this story) to give me a feedback, which I would (as always) really appreciate.

Once again I cannot say for sure that I will publish a new story in the near future as I have no concrete ideas yet, but I'm planning to do it eventually. So keep an eye out! For those who only read this story from me; you can check out my previous ones, maybe you will like them :)
