DK1: This is the last chapter. That is all I can say.

Chapter 17: He'll come back

When the light died down, Terra saw Danny lying on the sand, Slade nowhere to be found.

"Danny!" She screamed as she ran to her boyfriend.

"Terra." Danny said weakly. His amulet stopped spinning and was dimming. His ghost form faded, leaving his human form behind.

"I did it. I got rid of a pain in my neck. No one's going to be an apprentice anytime soon. Sadly, I won't be around much longer." Danny said, his voice getting softer. Tears leaked from Terra's eyes.

"Please Danny, don't leave." She cried.

"Hey, don't cry. I'm sure you will see me again. You just need to wait."

"I don't want to wait. I don't want you to die either." Terra knew she was being selfish, but she loved Danny too much to let him go so easily.

"How about I give you a parting gift? Will you stop crying then?" Danny said. Terra nodded. Danny started chanting as his form started fading fast. Terra saw her mistake in saying yes and started to cry even harder. Danny opened her eyes and smiled, then disappeared, leaving a piece of metal on a string and a gray gem behind. Terra picked up the metal and crystal and sobbed. Danny was gone, and he wasn't coming back.

Terra stood up and walked over to the other Titans, who had there heads down. Beastboy held his arms out wide. She hugged him as she cried her eyes out. When she was done, she looked at Danny's amulet, and put it on. It didn't glow or spin. It was just a piece of metal now. She sighed put the gem in her pocket and started walking to the Tower. The others followed her, sad about their lost team member.

Terra told Rosie and Jazz the story and held Rosie as she cried. It reminded Robin of a broken family. Rosie saw her father's necklace on Terra.

"Since Daddy's gone, can I call you Mommy?" Rosie asked almost quietly.

"I would feel bad if you didn't." Terra said. Rosie cried even harder.

"Can I wear it?" She said between sobs. Terra knew what she was talking about and nodded, taking the necklace off and handing it to Rosie. She sobbed a bit longer and finally put it on. It stayed still and didn't do anything. Rosie looked up and saw Terra smiling. She couldn't help but smile and that's when the amulet began glowing and spinning. Wind started to pick up, throwing Rosie's hair this way and that. They didn't notice the storm that was picking up and swirling overhead, covering the night sky.

"What's happening?" The young one asked. One of the white symbols then disappeared. Another one followed soon after. Soon they started disappearing one by one.

"Rosie, take it off!" Terra yelled. Rosie tried, but the string wouldn't move. It was stuck on her.

"Mommy, help me!" Rosie yelled. Almost all the symbols were gone. Terra tried to yank the amulet off, not caring if it would break, but the string wouldn't snap. The amulet stopped glowing and the gem came from Terra's pocket. The amulet then disappeared into the gem, empty. The wind died down, but the storm was still there. Lightning flashed and the Tower shook.

"Something's on the roof!" Raven said. Rosie turned the team intangible and flew through the ceiling. They reached the roof and saw sixteen shadows that looked very familiar.

"Who are you?!" Robin shouted to the silhouettes. They turned to him and everyone saw their necklaces. They each had one symbol from Danny's amulet. The one with the purple symbol pointed to the team and said something in a very weird language, but Cyborg understood it immediately. Several shadows nodded and flew at the team. The Titans tensed and Robin threw his bird-a-rangs, but thy just went through them. The first Shadow flew into Raven. She expected to lose control of her body, but instead a chill passed her along with a warm feeling and a book landed into her hands. She observed it. It had the symbol of the shadow that flew through her. She looked at the others and saw that the each had books, except Rosie, who was looking at Terra's neck. Raven looked down and saw a symbol around her neck. She looked up and saw the other shadows flying in different directions. The last one seemed to be thinking before he flew off. The storm then disappeared, bringing the stars out from hiding.

"Dude, that felt weird." Beastboy said.

"Cyborg what did they say?" Robin asked.

"'Give them their gifts.' He told the others to give their gifts to everyone, but he told the other three with colored ruins to go to where they were needed."

"Where could all of them have gone?" Starfire asked as she looked through her book,"And how did friend Danny know how my language was written?"

"What?" Robin walked over to her and when he touched her book, it immediately snapped shut. The symbol on it glowed red as if to indicate that he wasn't allowed to see what was in it.

"Dude, these are like magical diaries. I wonder what Raven has in her's." Beastboy gained a grinchy grin. Raven's eyes glowed and his book floated in mid-air before a white shockwave flew from it. Raven screamed when the wave hit her.

"Cool!"

"Beastboy, they aren't diaries." Robin said.

"Actually, Beasty was right. Take a look at yours." Cyborg said. Robin complied and looked through his book, that knew his full name, how he became Robin and anything else about him, even things that he forgot.

"How is this possible?" He asked as he closed his book and a seal formed on it.

"I don't know, but maybe the books would know. The all have a phrase at the beginning. The same words that Danny said when he finished Slade." That made to team go quiet. Slade was killed, by Danny no less.

"Well we'll figure that out later. Right now, let's all get some sleep and think about how tough our week was and grieve Danny's death. Especially Terra, Rosie, and Jazz." Robin said as he headed downstairs, the others followed him, leaving Terra, Jazz, and Rosie.

"Is Daddy really dead?" Rosie asked.

"Does it feel like he's dead?" Terra said.

"No."

"Then he's not. He's might be gone, but he will be back." Terra held her amulet."I know he will."
