Phantom thieves are legendary defender

The sound of laser fire and explosion was heard as Akira the former leader of the phantom thieves' and a paladin's of voltron, piloting the black lion, dodging Galra attack fighters and at the same time retaliate with his own laser fire. Outside he could see his friends were the same fighting an alien race while piloting the same mech type.

He could see the green lion grabbing a fighter in it's mouth and throw it to another fighter.

The blue lion fired it's ice canon freezing the fighters and the Red lion fire it's magma canon turning them into molten metal.

The purple lion using it'd jaw blade slicing the Galra cruiser. Along with the Yellow lion using it's laser from it's tail.

The orange lion ramming all the fighters.

It was a complete space battle that Akira use to watch on tv only this time he was living it.

"This was suppose to be a vacation!, a vacation! not turning into a space battle!"

At the same time on the castle of lions Princess Allura, Coran, Morgana, Haru and Lavenza were looking at the screen where the battle was , everyone was nervous since this battle was fierce and so many things could go wrong.

"I should there with Akira, but I might just get in the way".

" I understand how you feel Morgana-chan but all we can do now is wait".

For all of this to happen we had to go back three days ago on earth.

It had been a year since the event of Shujin , Shindo and Maruaki incident that change a group of friends as there bonds are tighter and moving on with their life's. It was then by chance they all manage to get some free time for the group to hangout and decided to go camping at the famous hot spring Inaba.

It was fun and relaxing enjoying the company of others until Futaba who was working on something detected some kind anomaly a strange energy signature , it's the reason why she wanted to come to Inaba. She explain it was alien origin and wanted to investigate,

The group were curious so decided to investigate

Using Futaba Geiger counter as a guide, the group soon found themselves deep within the forest surrounding a lake.

"How much further Futaba?" asked Ryuji. He had to hold the small satellite that went with it to pick up the reading.

"According to the readings… it's right around…" Futaba stopped in his tracks as they came to the edge of a clearing. On the other side of the area was the opening to a cave.

"...Here."

"Inside that cave?" asked Morgana.

"Well, where else would it be coming from?" Yusuke asked looking intrigue using the cave as his idea to paint.

"Okay," Ann said, shrugging her shoulders, "we found out where this 'Voltron' energy thing is coming from, can we go back to the lake now?" Since she wanted to relax.

"No way, Ann!" Ryuji exclaimed, "I know it's weird for me to say this, but we should check it out! Who knows what could be in there!" he sound excited since the lack of adventure for the group.

"Ann, calm down," Akira reassured the blondie, "there's nothing to worry about here. Besides, were just investigating."

This seemed to calm Ann down if only slightly, though she still seemed hesitant to explore a mysterious cave that they happened to find in the middle of the forest. And she wasn't the only one Sumire was also skeptical, but she making sure nobody notice her nervous.

"Look, Ann, it could be nothing," Makoto said, "we'll just have a look at the entrance. If there's nothing there, we can leave."

"Exactly!" Morgana appraised. "Simple and clean curiosity, that's all."

" Don't you mean Curiosity kill the cat" Yusuke said.

" Hey!, that's just a myth!" Morgana Exclaimed at Yusuke.

"Well… okay, if you say so." Haru said quietly.

"Well, come on! I want to see this quickly!" Ryuji exclaimed, running toward the cave entrance, dragging the leader behind him, who struggled to keep up.

" Wait, for me Senpai "

"Ryuji, slow down!" Ann called running after him, Makoto following close behind.

"Well, let's-"

"Woah!", "Guys! Check this out!" Ryuji shouted in excitement.

Alarmed by Ryuji shout, Akira, Morgana, Ann. Makoto, Haru, Yusuke and Sumire were quick to follow into the cave.

What they saw made them freeze in awe.

On the walls of the cave were drawings. Drawings of a giant blue lion. It seemed every wall of the cave told a story about it. Some had images of people bowing and worshipping it, while others showed the lion performing acts of great heroism. It was stopping a meteor from crashing into the earth, spreading rain over fields of crops. It went on and on.

"What is all this?" asked Akira, looking at the drawings.

"It looks like… drawings of a lion goddess?" Makoto guessed.

"There aren't any lion gods, or goddesses, in Japanese mythology, right Makoto?" asked Yusuke. Makoto shook head in denial.

Ryuji looked closely at the markings of the lion; he noticed one of the drawings had dust covering it, so he swiped his hand over it to get a better look. Suddenly all of the pictures started glowing a bright blue. Ryujiyelped and jumped back.

"Ryuji! What did you do?!" shouted Morgana in alarm.

"Nothing! I just touched it! That's all!" the boy defended in a panic.

Suddenly, the ground beneath them glowed bright blue in a circular shape and suddenly gave way. The group slid down rapids of water, screaming at the top of their lungs. It ended in a waterfall that led to a shallow pool at the bottom. Everyone groaned as they picked themselves up, now soaked from head to toe. Ryuji groaned as he straightened and blinked. When his vision finally cleared, he was slack-jawed, as was everyone else.

"Lions are everywhere…" Ryuji muttered as the group stared at the glowing orb with a large mechanical lion inside.

"What is that? Is that the 'Voltron'?" Sumire asked nervously, staring at the giant robot lion. The lion itself had blue metal with metallic legs and torso. The face of the lion looked like an ordinary lion with bright, glowing yellow eyes and a white muzzle with blue on the edges.

"It must be…" Yusuke said, looking at it with awe.

"I haven't seen any vehicles as advance as this one" Futaba said. Being a member phantom thieves she has a habit hacking to secure military hardware allowed Futaba to know about a lot of the military's weapon projects, but as far as she knew, there was no mention of a weapon like this.

"Me neither," said Makoto, shaking her head, even if she was the smart one in the group, doesn't know such mech.

"But then why is it here?" Ann asked.

"I don't know," Futaba admitted, still in absolute awe of the giant robot, as her otaku spirit was hype "but this must be where I'm getting all those crazy readings from!"

Akira started approaching the lion, seeing that there wasn't anything or anyone here to stop him from doing so. The other student council members followed close behind. "It looks like there's some kind of force field around it, so it should be okay to approach."

As they walked closer, Ryuji kept his eyes on the lion. The teen couldn't explain it, but it felt like the lion was eying him. "Um, does anyone else here feel like this thing's staring at me?"

Everyone looked at him like he was nuts, "No..." Morgana said with a raised eyebrow.

"...Yeah, the eyes are totally following me"

Akira was standing right in front of the force field, and he put his hands on the surface. His eyes squinted in concentration, "I wonder how we get through this…"

"Maybe you just have to knock," Ryuji said sarcastically and did just that, rapping his fist against the translucent shield. He yelped when it felt like a jolt of electricity ran through his body. The forcefield glowed with a blinding light before vanishing from around the lion and the platform underneath suddenly lighting up. The ground beneath everyone also rumbled as they all stared at the lion in shock.

Suddenly an image of seven lions, each looking similar but each a different color, fly high into the sky like shooting stars. In a flash of light, the lions were gone only to be replaced by a gigantic robot with red and green arms, orange and blue feet and shins, to yellow and purple knees and upper legs, and the head with the same glowing yellow eyes inside the mouth of a black lion. The figure swung its sword of fire across the sky, lighting it for the universe to see.

"Woah!" Ryuji muttered in awe as did everyone else. "Uh... did everyone just see that?!"

"Voltron's a robot!" Sumire shouted in shock.

"A huge… huge awesome robot!" Futaba practically squealed in excitement.

"And this thing is only one part of it,"Makoto added, "I wonder where the rest of them are?"

"If that's the case, then what is it doing down here?" Akira asked, "And why isn't it with its other pieces?"

"I don't know," Morgana muttered, "but it's still incredible."

"I know for certain now that those aliens I heard are looking for this thing," Futaba confirmed.

The lion suddenly started to move on its own as it lowered its head in front of the students. Shirley immediately started screaming in fright, scared that it might eat them. That turned out not to be the case, however, as the lion's mouth opened right in front of Ryuji to reveal a pathway inside of it.

Skeptical, but still curious about what was inside, Ryuji z approached the platform and walked in. The other students followed close behind. Right before the lion closed its mouth.

Ryuji quickly took the path up and found what looked like the pilot's control room with a single chair in the middle of the room. Looking around, Ryuji took a seat and crossed his legs with a smug smile.

"Well, here we go-woah!" Rivalz didn't finish as the seat suddenly pushed him forward to the front. Once it stopped, the room started glowing in a bright blue aura, and futuristic control screens popped up in front of Rivalz. The other student council members weren't too far behind him, all of them staring in wonder at the advanced technology inside.

"Woah!"

"Cool!"

"Wow!"

" Awesome!"

"Unique!"

"Alright, very nice!" Ryuji said with a laugh as the main screen in front of them turned on to show the inside of the cave they were just in. Ryuji was going a faze where it's always been a boys dream to pilot a giant robot.

"Okay, uh, everyone," Sumire said nervously, "I think I just need to point out, just so we're all, you know, aware. We're in some kind of futuristic, alien, robot cat right now."

" Yeah it makes Morgana transformation into a car and helicopter look normal"

" Hey! I heard that"

Ryuji felt another jolt of electricity run through him, from the top of his head, all the way to his toes, penetrating him to his very core. His ears suddenly filled with the sound of a soothing purr.

"Woah! Did you guys just hear that?!" asked Ryuji, looking back at them almost frantically.

"Hear what?" asked Haru.

"I-I think it's talking to me!" he exclaimed before turning back around and examining the controls. Finally, he hesitantly pressed a couple of buttons seemingly at random, as if the lion was guiding him like a trance.

Outside, the blue lion jolted and leaped to its feet, roaring loudly. It almost sounded excited.

"Okay, got it," he said with a grin, "now let's try this!" Ryuji pushed the controls forward, and the lion shot out of the mountain cave like a rocket and flew into the sky, and as it was descending to the ground, it did a front flip before using missiles in its legs to glide across the field. It then shot into the air again with a series of corkscrews. Everyone inside the head was screaming at the top of their lungs. They held onto either the pilot seat or Ryuji himself for balance.

"Ryuji!" screamed Ann as the lion did a few more flips, "YOU ARE. THE WORST. PILOT. EVER!"

As the lion was finally out from the cave it was excited stretching it's legs like Ryuji who was also having fun. After all it's been a mans dream to pilot such robot . It was then the blue lion flew towards the sky and further reaching to space. The group saw space for the first time, not the space from Okumura cognition but real space.

Good things came to an end when Alien vassal came out of nowhere and started to fire there weapons on them, Ryuji quickly dodged and attack the alien vessels, and attack he did. Especially they reach the edge of the solar system Kerberos Pluto's moon.

The alien's ship continue its pursuit on the blue lion until out of nowhere a wormhole open and the lion wanted to enter it. The former phantom thieves group were questioning if they should enter , many of them voted they should and no regrets for another new grand adventure.

They did arrive on another planet as Makoto look at the space and it's unfamiliar constellation. The lion landed. Right infront of the castle as the entry open. The group travel inside while admiring the castle.

Until they reach a certain room as two pods ejected two people from their sleep. She called herself Princess Allura of Altea and Coran her butler. Both of them told the group about the lions and how they been a sleep for 10 000 years.

As the planet populace was attack and wiped out from existence by the Galra empire, the one lead such Empire was Zarkon as the princess explain.

The phantom thieves were pondering of the event until an alarm was heard as the monitor reveal a Galra ship heading straight towards Altea.

If that wasn't surprise enough Lavenva made her appearance to everyone in the flesh and add more to the icing Morgana was in his phantom thieve form the one with the short and stubby legs. Lavenza explain that her master the one's even higher than Igor that she needed to help her trickster not only that it seems the castle has the ability to manifest her in reality and reason why Morgana was in his usual form.

But explanation later as the group must find and assemble voltron immediately. Showing the map on where the lions are located. Seeing one was inside the castle.

"Very observant," Allura said with a warm smile, "that's because the Black Lion is in the castle."

"To keep the Black Lion out of Zarkon's hands, King Alfor locked it in the castle," Coran explained, "it can only be freed if the other six Lions are present."

"As you've found, the Lions choose their pilots," Allura further explained, "it is a mystical bond, and can not be forced. The quintessence of the pilot is mirrored in their Lion. Together, they form something greater than science can explain."

The princess moved her hand swiftly, and the coordinates move in one direction as if on a computer screen. The image of the Black Lion floated in front of them, but slowly approached Akira, "The Black Lion is the decisive head of Voltron. It will take a pilot who is a born leader and in control at all times. Someone whose men will follow without hesitation. That is why Akira, you will pilot the Black Lion."

'Akira was suprise it seems it's been his fate to become leader'

Allura waved her hand again, and this time the image of a green lion appeared, next to a planet that seemed to be covered in a lush green jungle. "The Green Lion has an inquisitive personality and needs a pilot of intellect and daring. Futaba, you will pilot the Green Lion."

" Sweet green seems to be my kind of color".

"The Blue Lion," Ryuji smirked cockily at the mention of his Lion, "is the most confident and friendliest of the Lions. Relying on optimism of the situation to keep the team together. As you already do, Ryuji, you will pilot the Blue Lion."

"Yosh!".

"The Orange Lion is caring and kind," Allura continued as the image of another Lion appeared by what looked more like a meteor than a planet. It hovered in front of Ann, "Its pilot is the one who puts the needs of others above their own. Their heart must be mighty. As the leg of Voltron, you will lift the team up and hold them together."

"Me?!" Ann squeaked in alarm, pointing to herself.

"The Yellow Lion is the most diligent of the Lions," a yellow lion appeared by a planet that seemed to shine like stars by Sumire. "Knowing when goals must be accomplished and when keeping the others focused on their goal. Sumire, the pilot of the Yellow Lion, will be you."

" Wait I don't even know how pilot a giant mech".

"The Purple Lion is the most honorable of the Lions," Allura said as she materialized the image of the Purple Lion, though it wasn't connected to any coordinates. "That is also why it is one of the more difficult ones to control. The one who pilots it must be someone who is not ashamed of their beliefs and is willing to stay true to them as well. Because of this, Yusuke, the Purple Lion will be piloted by you."

" I kinda like it"

"The Red Lion is temperamental and the most difficult to master," just like with the Purple Lion, Allura allowed the Red Lion to materialize, but there weren't any coordinates with it. "It's faster and more agile than the others, but also more unstable. Its pilot needs to be someone who relies more on instincts than skill alone," the Red Lion hovered in front of Makoto, "Makoto, you will pilot the Red Lion."

' Makoto didn't say anything but knew her friends were thinking how hot tempered she can be'

With the tasked given the Phantom thieves are now on a search for the lions unknown to them this would be something much bigger than their times in Mementos and palace as the survival of their planets depends on it.

This is just an idea after playing persona 5 royal is based on code geass paladins of voltron. It's a thought what if the phantom gone another adventure except this time in space and became paladins of voltron. At first I wanted five lions but the phantom thieves group are big so I go with seven.

The black lion will always be pilot by Akira/ Joker since his both a leader and remain calm in any situation.

The green lion like in the canon would be Futaba as she's the smart one

The blue Lion like in the canon is the idiot or airhead in the group

The orange Lion is Ann how she cared so much for her friend Shiho and the others.

The yellow lion is Sumire as her goal and dreams was to compete in the world gymnast

The purple lion is Yusuke as he might had a pretty face but he didn't care what people think or being weird as he focus on the things he loves and belief.

The red lion is Makoto as she can always be very angry when pushed to the edge.

This is just an idea if anyone interested can use this fic as example. That wanted to expand the Persona Royal.
