Twenty Four

"Will you calm down, your brother was perfectly nice at dinner, and he's not going to turn all psycho and try to ruin things. Again." Caroline scolded. Klaus may denied it all he wanted, but Caroline could tell that the Hybrid was nervous about the fact that Kol was once again alive and would offer more problems than help. They had just had dinner as a family and all though Kol had been cold at first, he had gradually warmed up halfway when Katherine started joking with him and when he tried to make Rebekah laugh to get her out of her depression.

Klaus glared at her, but Caroline simply rolled her eyes.

"You do not know him as I do, Caroline." Klaus said simply. "He can be unexpected, stubborn, and the last thing I need is more problem."

"Kol is on your side, on our side." Caroline insisted again as she put a hand on his shoulder. "And you don't want to drive him away, much less put a dagger in his heart and stuck him in a box for another hundred years."

"Caroline," Klaus said suddenly serious again. "It doesn't take a fool to know that a great war is coming and we're at a disadvantage since we don't know who is after us. Bonnie and Katherine had already agreed to stay, but I want you to know that by no means necessary do you have to stay."

"Do you want me to leave?" Caroline sounded hurt.

"No," he insisted. "But it will be unfair to ask you to stay in the mist of everything."

"I want to stay Klaus," she said. "We're in this together."

"After everything will you stay with me?" he murmured. "Why?"

"Because I don't want to be alone anymore," Caroline murmured as she kissed him. "And something tells me you don't want to be alone either."

"You and my brother Kol got along surprisingly well." Elijah told Katherine that night when they were in bed together. "Especially since you've never meet each other."

Katherine flinched slightly as she stopped staring at her engagement ring. They had decided to announce it at dinner tomorrow since today was specifically for Bonnie and Kol. Crap, she hadn't told Elijah that she and his brother had sort of a thing back in the 15th century, and she was surprise that Kol hadn't opened his big mouth. "Well, we kind of have the same personality so-"she trailed off.

Elijah didn't noticed, instead he pulled out a bottle of champagne and handed her a glass. "To us," he said. "And to our new future together."

Katherine felt a lump in her throat. "To us."

"I can't believe that you're alive." Bonnie said to Kol as they walked through the Mikaelson corridors. Hours later she was still as giddy as ever.

Kol chuckled. "That's the third time you said that, little witch."

Little witch, Bonnie had learned to love the nickname, especially since hours later she was no longer the anchor her powers had come back. She was still a little rusty, but nothing practice wouldn't be able to fix.

Bonnie accidently dropped the glass that she was holding, breaking it into pieces. "Opps."

"I'll get it." Kol picked up the shards, accidently jabbing himself in the thumb. He watched as blood poured out. He frowned. "Something is wrong."

"What?"

"I'm not healing."

"What?" she grabbed his palm, but it was true, Kol wasn't healing. They exchanged glances. "You're human."

Celeste (in Sabine's body) stood in the cemetery being surrounded by her accomplices Bastianna, Papa Tunde, and Genevieve. She smirked at them. "It is done, half of the vampire population gone, Kol Mikaelson revived and Bonnie Bennett still alive, you have made the ancestors proud." She pursed her lips. "Now you know as well as I do the reason you're standing here, the Mikaelson family has tortured us, killed us, has taken everything we hold dear, well not anymore, because now they're at a disadvantage. However, not all of you will be joining us."

Bastianna let out a scream as someone suddenly jabbed a knife in her throat and she fell dead. A tall, dark hair girl stood behind her. "I never did like her."

"You're Cassie," Genevieve said. "One of the Harvest girls that was sacrificed."

Cassie's lips pulled into a smile. "Actually, I would prefer it if you called me by my real name, Esther."

"Francesca!" Hayley opened the door of her cabin by herself and saw Francesca looking less than pleased. It was clear that things hadn't gone her way seeing as the Mikaelson and Bonnie were still alive. "What the hell are you doing here?"

Francesca ignored the question as she stood up and faced her. "I give you one simple task and you can't comply, you have really disappointment me, Hayley."

"It wasn't my fault." Hayley snapped. "It was your poorly executed plan, now I suggest you leave before the Mikaelsons find out and hunt us both down."

"That won't be necessary," Francesca said coolly as she jabbed a pocket knife into Hayley's heart. "So long werewolf queen."

Hayley woke up in a dark place. She was dead, she knew that Francesca had killed her, but where was she? Was this the other side? Hayley felt a gush of wind and felt herself tumbling backwards. She gripped the floor trying to hold on, but the gush of wind kept pulling her away.

Hayley felt an eerie feeling in her stomach she doubted that she was going to go to a happy place. She felt her grip loosening and she let out a scream. "No!"
