A soft heard from the door before it opened, releasing a creaking sound, revealing a dark room which the only light source was from the computer in front of the boy and the cellphone beside him that was leaning on a can of soda. Shintaro looked straight at the door, he couldn't recognize the face due to the lack of lighting.
"Mom?" He asked, "What do you need?" Not minding much as he went back to his own business, switching tabs to tabs as he continued making songs. He heard the visitor giggle, all too familiar. He stood up looking at the silhouette from the door, his eyes became wider as his pulse beated faster, a sweat dripping off his forehead.
"Master~?" Ene called, but it didn't reach his ears. "Master, what's wrong?" She says as he looked at the boy who looked as if he saw a ghost. "Masterrrrr!" She pesters him even more.
"Hey," The voice rendered the AI speechless, Shintaro became to tremble. Was this a nightmare of his again?
"...who is...that...?" Ene tried to ask Shintaro who was paralyzed in fear. Her heart beating faster-if she had any. The voice seemed too familiar. Again, the silhouette giggled, making Shintaro gulped, he couldn't move an inch. Footsteps were heard towards him, He couldn't blink, he couldn't tear his gaze away from her. It was a mixture of a dream and a nightmare. He's afraid that if he blinks, she'd disappear again. But he knew all too well that she can never come back.
This wasn't her, this must be one of his delusional fantasies.
"Shintaro-kun," The girl says as he came close to the boy, a part of her face can be seen with the light that came from the computer. Ene backed away, if it was even possible. Her hands on her mouth, she couldn't think straight. She was trembling. "Hey Shintaro," The girl smiled but it soon turned into a frown. "Why did you forget about me?" Shintaro fell back to his chair, he was getting dizzy, the figure was all seemed too real to be a delusion.
"Ayano...chan," Ene breathed, at that moment Shintaro lost consciousness. A second figure came into view, appearing behind Ayano's back. Her eyes became wider than before-if it was even possible. She would've fell if she wasn't floating. "Ha...ruka?" She mumbled, the boy frowned at her as he looked at the monitor.
"You have also forgotten about me, right,?" He says, "Takane?" The way her previous name rolled his tongue was both haunting and nostalgic.
"I haven't-" Her sentence was cut short as her surroundings turned black and as she lost consciousness.
How could have they forgotten...? It was their... death anniversary.
