Disclaimer - I don't own Rookie Blue or any of the characters.

A/N: I must say, I don't think I could be any more happier at the season premiere. Andy left Nick (Finally), I got a Dov/Andy sibling(ish) scene, and all my couples were able to give me feels... that didn't make me want to crawl in a hole and die. So I am happy. Sorry for how late this has come (a week after the episode actually premiered) but I have been writing in my notebook instead of on my laptop, because I've been writing more at school and my dinosaur that I call a laptop is too clunkly and heavy to bring to school (mind you that dinosaur is my baby, and I love it)

So without further ado, I present:

Were You Scared

"Were you scared?" Chloe asked and he shrugged.

"No, not really" Big lie.

"Was I scared?" She asked and he couldn't stop the small smile that ghosted his features, even though the answer would never stop making his insides feel like they were being ripped out.

"Well you... well, you were dead." He cleared his throat.

"Were you scared?" Her voice repeated in his mind, images of her dead right in front of him replaying in a cruel, continuous loop. His Chloe. Dead. He squeezed his eyes shut, trying to fight off the tears that threatened to spill over. He realised in the span of two minutes, what the most important thing in his life was, and she was lying asleep on the hospital bed beside him, her hand wrapped inside both of his.

Yeah, he was scared.

Scared of the unknown, and of oblivion. Scared of life without her.

Burying his face beside where their hands rested, he cried.

Chloe woke up with no feeling in her left hand and she felt the dampness of the sheets. Blinking, she looked over to her left and gave a sad smile.

"Dov, what's wrong?" She murmured next to his ear and he lifted his head.

"Huh? Oh, nothing, I'm fine." She gave him a knowing and somewhat dissaproving look, and he looked down at their hands, not being able to meet her eyes.

"No, you're scared, you don't need to be though. I'm okay, you're okay, we're all alive." She whispered and he looked into her blue eyes, they were almost back to their bright, and lively colour.

"Yeah, Chloe, I'm scared! I love you and you almost died! Hell you did die, I watched my girlfriend die, and I couldn't do anything about it... and I'm not okay with that."

"But I'm not dead, Dov." She said calmly.

"But you were, it's because of machines and miracles that I got you back." He looked down again "I can't pretend anymore Chloe... I can't pretend that I would be okay if you weren't around, because I wouldn't be. Let's face it, my life was empty before I met you, I didn't know that something was missing until I met you, I had nothing- no, I had no one, to live for, and now I do. I honestly think I would die if you died. I would literally lose all physical ability to breathe, eat, and sleep. You are my life Chloe, and I want to spend the rest of it with you." He finished his spiel, taking a deep breath, and looked over at Chloe.

"Oh... Dov" She was speechless, for probably one of the few times in her life. "That's the sweetest, most romantic thing I've ever heard, let alone had said to me. I love you- wait, are you proposing?" He laughed and shook his head.

"Once you signed those divorce papers, I will" he promised and she gave him the brightest, happiest, most beautiful smile he had ever seen.

"Deal, I love you Dov Epstien" She pulled him close, their faces almost touching, and she could feel his breath on her nose.

"I love you Chloe Price" He replied, and closing the tiny gap between them, their lips met.
