June's POV
"Choose." My head spun. What was going on? I must be in the sim. I looked at the little tables in front of me. Meat, a knife? And cheese? I picked the cheese. I like cheese. I bit into it. Delish. It's mozzarella, my favorite. Suddenly, I heard barking. I whipped my head around.
I saw a menacing dog, huge, with saliva dripping down its open mouth. What do I do? I turned around, in fear, looking for the tables again. I looked at the cheese. It was almost gone. Right when the dog launched up to maul my face off, I held the cheese up to my face.
I was unharmed. The cheese had a huge bite in it and was only a crumb.

"You're Divergent. You can't tell anyone this, not even your parents. Go home and tell them that you're just Amity, like you are now." The words echoed through my head as I lay down to sleep. Tomorrow is the choosing ceremony. What do I pick? I'm Divergent. I could pick anything. But what people find out? I'll be killed!
Finally I drifted off to sleep.
My dream was more of a nightmare. I dreamt that I was happily living in Amity. I am older now, not a mere sixteen year old. Then, a Dauntless soldier burst through my house.
"There! The Divergent! Get her!" A big boom went off. I woke up with a start. I was breathing hard and my heart slammed into my rib cage.

"Garrison, June," Marcus Eaton, the leader of the five factions, and located in Abnegation, said. I took a deep breath and slowly rose out of my seat. I grabbed my mother's hand and squeezed it.
I grabbed the knife. Erudite, Abnegation, Amity, Candor, or Dauntless
I didn't know what to do. Which one should I pick? I'll never belong in here. Then, I realized what must be done. I grabbed the knife and cut the meaty part of my palm. The wind cooled the flap of skin. I reached over. When I got to bowl, I squeezed my hand into a fist. The blood dropped slowly down my hand. It trickled down my skin, staining it red. Then, it slid down. Slowly. Slowly. Until it landed inside the bowl. It was final.
