I had this chapter sitting in my computer for such a long time, I kept writing and rewriting and editing but it didn't feel good enough but I've finally decided to publish it so I hope at the very least you guys like it. As usual, reviews would be much appreciated and thanks in advance for the reviews, favorites and follows. Forgive my mistakes if there's any and enjoy!

Meet me for breakfast, lunch or whatever tomorrow before you leave.

Ana bit her lower lip, a smile threatening to bloom on her face. It's been 3 hours since they've left the park and she's lying in bed wide awake, her kiss with Aomine playing on a loop through her mind. She was in the midst of reliving the kiss again for the thousandth time when her phone lit up, signaling that she'd received a message. As much as she wanted to say yes to meeting him, she was pretty sure it wasn't the right thing to do. She sighed, hands poised to type a reply to Aomine telling him she wouldn't be able to make it before she heard the bedroom door clicked open.

"Kise? Is everything alright?" She furrowed her brows in concern, text messages forgotten for the time being as she put her phone down.

She felt the other side of the bed dipped down as Kise sat down. His face was shrouded in the dark, lit only by the sliver of light streaming in through the curtains. "Are you still angry?" he asked quietly.

"I was never angry to begin with," she smiled, hands reaching out to pat him on his head.

"Then why did you just leave? I wasn't sure if you were coming back and when you came home, you slept in the guest room instead."

Ana couldn't see him but she could hear the pout in his voice. She did not reply immediately, trying to articulate her thoughts. "I really wasn't angry. Maybe just a teensy bit hurt but I understand that you needed time to deal with things." She reached across and pulled him into a quick hug before releasing him. "Just know that I'm here for you if you need to talk."

"Thanks. It's just disheartening and I just feel like I've let the whole team down you know? But I'll definitely work even harder now. There's still the Winter Cup right?"

"Exactly. I have faith in all of you. So stop being so sullen, I want my golden sunshine boy back," she teased lightly.

Zzzzzttt

Zzzzzttt

Zzzzzttt

Her phone started vibrating on the bed. She rolled her eyes, picking it up to read what could only be messages from Aomine.

Oi. Reply me. Now

Another one.

Oi. Have you fallen asleep?

Oi. Oi. Oi. I can see that you've already read my messages.

"Who's that?" Kise asked, startling her. He slid into the bed next to her, pulling the quilt over his body as he looked at her waiting for her answer.

"Oh, it's that Ahomine. He's just annoying me on purpose. Just give me one sec," she said as she settled back into bed, typing her reply.

Can't. Leaving super early in the morning. Talking to Kise now. Speak soon.

Ana slipped her phone back under her pillows before turning back to Kise. She found him looking at her with an inscrutable expression on his face. She raised an eyebrow in question.

"Hmm... something seems different. Did you went out and see him earlier?" Kise's tone was deceptively light.

"Yeah. He and Lena broke up... I don't-"

Kise interrupted her then, she could feel him tensing, his whole demeanor changing, "It's fine. I don't really want to know."

"Aah... okay then," she laughed, awkward. "Anyway, we better get some sleep since we gotta get up super early tomorrow."

Kise did not reply, instead he put his arm around her waist and pulled her close, the entire length of her body pressed up against him, their faces a mere centimeter apart. She instantly looked down, avoiding eye contact, conflicting emotions running through her. It somehow felt wrong to her to be kissing Kise now when she'd just been making out with Aomine in the park less than 6 hours ago. She frowned, despite her not wanting any drama it seemed like unbeknownst to her, she's somehow embroiled in an unofficial three way with two guys. It wasn't like she disliked Kise or that she liked Aomine more than Kise. In the first place her relationship with the both of them are completely different. Ana and Kise were both best friends and they came to an agreement to not get emotionally involved so there's always a barrier that she won't let herself cross when it comes to him. Now that there might be a very slight chance that she and Aomine might get involved, however ambiguous it may be, she felt it was only right that she told Kise.

"Uhh... I really don't know how to say this so I'm just going to directly say it," she said, face burning hot, embarrassed. She was worried that this will affect their relationship but it has to be said.

He tilted his face to the side, "Hmmm?" He looked askance at her, waiting for her to continue. His hands around her loosened and he moved back to look at her properly.

"I... think maybe we should stop fooling around together."

Silence so heavy it was palpable descended. It felt like an eternity took place before she heard him sighed, "Silly girl. Is that what you're worried about? We can stop if that's what you want."

Ana looked at him, she was filled with an urge to explain herself in case he got the wrong idea. "It's not like I don't like this...thing between us. It's just that it doesn't feel right to be starting something with Aomine if we continue to do what we do. It wouldn't be fair to the both of you."

He raised an eyebrow, "Are you planning on starting something with Aomine?"

"NO!... I mean I don't know. We're not getting into a relationship or anything if that's what you're asking."

"Then, that's fine then." He smiled at her gently albeit a little smugly.

"Huh? Fine? What do you mean?"

"It means that we can continue this thing between us...if you want. We don't if you don't want to."

"I don't know. It doesn't seem right." She heaved a sigh, eyes looking imploringly at him. "I-I think I might actually like him."

"So, does that mean you don't like me? Are you dumping me Anacchi?" He shifted a fraction closer, his hand on her chin, tilting it up so she was looking into his eyes.

She shook her head. "Of course not. You know I love you. It's just that our relationship is pretty much platonic from the get go yeah?"

"Is it really though? Is it platonic that when we see each other the attraction is so intense that I cannot not touch you or not be near you?"

She laughed, hitting his arm. "You know what I mean. Yes, we are crazily attracted to each other but emotionally we are platonic right? And, even if it's not Aomine, I think I'm ready to be in a relationship. And I can't move on to the next phase in my life if I get embroiled in this 'vague' undefinable thing with you." She paused for a bit before continuing, "Are you okay with that? I mean, now you're truly free to pursue something serious with those girls you go on a date with." She teased.

Kise's eyes widened in shocked. "This is news to me. I had no idea you've gotten over your ex and are now ready to be in a relationship." In a much lower voice that she didn't think he meant for her to hear, he muttered to himself, "This changes things completely."

"Yeah. I've only discovered that recently. I'm not jumping into anything with that Ahomine though. God knows he's still in love with Lena."

Kise looked deep in thought as he muttered things to himself that she couldn't make out. As if he'd made a decision, he looked at her determinedly before saying,"I understand. Nothing changes. I'm still here for you but I need some time to myself to sort things out. There's a few things that I need to think about."

She nodded,"Totally understandable. So we're cool?"

"More than cool," he pulled her close to kiss the top of her head. "That being said, I better sleep in my own bed tonight, you little temptress." He wiggled his eyebrows suggestively making her giggle.

"Okay. Thanks, golden boy. And I better try to get some shut eye as well. Good night."

"Good night." He climbed out of bed, gave her another kiss on the forehead before he silently padded across the room and exited the room.

Ana doesn't know how long she had been sleeping but it definitely wasn't enough before she was rudely woken up by her phone buzzing. She groaned, peeking out from underneath her pillow looking out the window. Judging by the sky it was probably only 6 something in the morning. She glared murderously at her phone, or more accurately at the name of the person displayed on her screen.

"This better be good or I'm going to flay you alive." She growled into the phone.

Aomine laughed a full throated laugh before saying,"Aren't we a ray of sunshine today. Come outside. I'm downstairs."

She hurriedly sat up on her bed, "What? Are you insane? Did you not get the hint that I didn't want to see you today?" She huffed, annoyed but not quite.

"Whatever. Come down." He hung up on her right after that.

She gaped at his audacity before springing up to go to the bathroom. She brushed her teeth and pulled her hair up into a ponytail, scrutinizing herself in the mirror before she quickly picked up her chapstick and swipe them across her lips. Satisfied, she checked herself out in the mirror again before dashing out of the house.

From afar she saw his silhouette leaning against the wall, she slowed her step as she approached the lobby of the building. No point letting him know that she had sprinted out of the house to see him or that the elevator ride felt entirely too long lest he thinks that she's eager to see him. She took her time, drinking in the sight of him in. No matter how many times she has seen him, it still left her a little breathless and feeling like her heart is caught in her throat.

"Hey," she finally said, coming to a standstill just a little under a meter away from him.

He turned the full weight of his gaze on her, both hands jammed into his pocket, unmoving. "Hey."

They both stood still, eyes locked on to each other, silent. She felt silence suffocating her, twisting around her like snakes coiling around her. "What are you doing here?" She broke the silence.

He took a measured step towards her. And another step. She reflexively stepped back. He stopped. Looked at her questioningly before stepping forward again. She held her ground. It wouldn't do to show how much he affected her. She had to keep reminding herself that this was a guy that had a girlfriend up till last night. Said guy still has feelings for said girlfriend and has all the intention in getting back together with said girlfriend. Feeling determination and resolved coursing through her at that thought, she held out her palm in a stop gesture to halt him before he got too close.

He frowned.

"I think that's close enough for whatever you want to say." She crossed her arms shivering in the cold.

"Relax. I'm not going to jump you, you know." He said teasingly. He furrowed his eyebrows a little, eyes softening. "Are you an idiot? Why would you come down here without a jacket?" He grumbled at her while he took off his own jacket and threw it at her none too gently, his words at odds with his action. "Wear it, before you catch your death in this cold."

She pulled his sweater around herself, instinctively taking a whiff of his jacket. It smelled like him, all dark spice and a hint of laundry detergent. She snuggled in deeper. "So?"

"So nothing."

"So you're basically saying you woke me up at this ungodly hour for nothing." She glowered.

He shrugged and then made a big show of sighing. "So what were you and Kise talking about last night? Were you sleeping in his room?"

"Tell me you did not come all this way just to ask me that. You're insane and it's none of your business by the way." There was no way she could tell him she ended her arrangement with Kise. It might give him the wrong idea and she definitely did not want him to think she's doing it because of him. He was just a catalyst definitely not the cause.

He kept quiet, it felt like his eyes were boring a hole in her face.

"If that's all I'm going back up. I need to be up in 2 hours and I definitely did not get enough sleep." She waved at him and made a bid to leave.

In one swift motion, he pulled her towards him. She ended up pressed against his body, her face buried in his chest, his arms tight around her. She spluttered, pushing against him before stopping and leaning on him, inhaling his scent in. "Okay, you can let go now."

He looked at her dolefully, a world of unsaid things between them. He pulled back, both hands now on her shoulders. "Text me when you get home later?" His voice uncharacteristically soft, almost pleading. He brushed a tendril of hair behind her ears.

She nodded meekly, heart thundering in her chest. Arrogant Aomine she can handle. Angry Aomine she can definitely handle. But him being all quiet and almost, dare she say it, gentle towards her made her feel at lost at what to do. "I'll see you when I see you."

She made to take off his jacket but he stopped her. "Keep it. Give it back to me the next time we meet."

Aomine watched her go into the building. How many times had he watched her walked away from him? This time though, it felt different. There's a frisson of excitement and longing but most of all there was a small bud of hope blooming. He sighed. How did things get this complicated? He loves Lena but he's like the moth to Ana's flame. He just couldn't keep away even though he knew he should stop. Take this morning for example. Just one measly text from her implying that she'd been with Kise last night kept him up all night and at the first sign of dawn he had rushed over here. It was like he'd lost all his will and his entire action was being controlled. He winced internally, he's turning into a chick, getting all wind up so easily and reading into things too much. When she said she didn't get enough sleep, his mind went into overdrive thinking about what she was doing with Kise staying up so late. He mentally shook himself out of his sorry state, giving one last look towards the building before he made his way home.
