And things got even worse. When I got my next letter from Astrid, she said that she was not leaving me, but that we still needed to talk and that it had to be done in person. She said that I had to come right away and I, more than willing, went to go see her. I still did not know what I was going to do about Dagur and Heather, but they were the last thing on my mind.

The dean was not happy with the sudden request for a leave of absence.

"Hiccup," the dean scolded. "You know the new policy requires you to submit these at least a week in advance."

"I know," I groaned. "But Astrid wouldn't say this if it wasn't an emergency! I promise I won't fall behind in my studies." The dean sighed and rubbed his temples before looking back at the request form.

"You do realize that since there is no return date I am less inclined to release you," The dean spoke.

"Dean," I pleaded. "I don't know how bad of an emergency this is. I don't know what time I will be back, but I do know i have to leave now." The dean sat back and folded his hands.

"I am only doing this because it is you, Hiccup," He nodded. "You may go, but you have to keep me updated."

"I will," I said running to my room. "Thanks dean!"

I have never packed more frantically in my life. I swear that now that I needed to pack, everything was harder to find. Eventually I got everything together and got ready to leave.

I ran as fast as I possibly could to the stables. I grabbed my saddle out if the tack room and started to strap Toothless up. Toothless seemed to sense my urgency as I loaded him up with luggage, because as soon as I was mounted Toothless shot up into the sky like a speeding bullet. I am glad I had put on my helmet, otherwise I wouldn't be able to see to fly. I don't think we have ever gone that fast before. At one point during the flight we hit a favorable air stream and the was a boom! It about knocked me off of Toothless. Thank Thor I was strapped to him.

We reached Astrid's house in record time. Before we had even landed I had unstrapped myself and was ready to jump off. As soon as we landed I was running to the door with Toothless on my heels. I knocked on the door impatiently.

Astrid opened the door with a surprised look on her face.

"Hiccup," she questioned. "What are you doing here?"

"What do you mean?" I asked. "You told me to come as soon as I could."

"No I didn't," Astrid replied. Toothless then began to act funny and tried to nudge past me. "Here," she began. "Let's put Toothless in the stable and then we can talk."

As we started towards the stable, Toothless rubbed Astrid's side and excitedly hopped around like a puppy.

"But what about the letter you sent me about coming to see you?" I asked.

"I never sent such a letter," Astrid said. As we approached the stable Stormfly's sharp demeanor softened and she chirped happily.

"But I got a letter," I started. Astrid put Toothless in a stall and started to undo the saddle. Toothless glared at me till I helped.

"I don't know what you got Hiccup, but it wasn't from me," Astrid stated.

"But I am very relieved you are here." She the kissed and hugged me tightly. I held her close to me.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"Nothing is really wrong," Astrid said. "We just need to talk."

"I am all ears," I said.

"Lets go inside," Astrid smiled. "It's cold out here."

I wrapped my arms around her and joined her in the house. It was different entering the house this time. It did not have the suffocating vibe from before, but it was still a bit gloomy.

"Where are your siblings?" I asked.

"At school," Astrid replied as she poured us both hot cups of tea.

"And your dad?" I continued.

"At work," she answered.

"So what do we need to talk about?" I swallowed nervously.

"Hiccup," she began quietly as she grabbed my hand. "Do you remember the last time we had sex?"

"Do I?" I chuckled. "That's an understatement. Though now that you mention it, It has been a long time." I started to kiss her neck and she push me away. "Astrid?"

"Hiccup," she almost whispered. "I... we..." She then covered her mouth, ran to the bathroom, and retched into the toilet.

"Astrid?" I started rubbing her back. "Do you need me to take you to the doctor?"

"No," she gasped as she wiped her face and flushed the toilet. "Not now at least."

"What do you mean not now?" I asked. "Astrid please tell me what is going on." Astrid took me back to the dinning room table and sat me down.

"Hiccup," Astrid swallowed hard. "There comes a time in our lives... Well you see... How many more years of college do you have left?"

"Two and a half," I answered. "Why?"

"That's to long," she murmured. "Um... Hiccup, I don't know how to put this."

"You can tell me anything Astrid," I tried to reassure her.

"Hiccup, I have been off birth control since mom died," she said shakily.

"You what?" I started as I thought of all our little trists. "Well I guess we are lucky then. I will be to use condoms from now on."

"We aren't lucky, Hiccup," Astrid said.

"What?" I didn't understand.

"Hiccup," she started taking a deep breath. "I'm pregnant."
