Three years later, Chrom stood out in the courtyard looking down at the garden. While there were a few flowers that grew in many varieties, Chrom kept his eyes on one flower in particular. He looked upon the tall, rainbow-hued flower with joy, watching as it spread light out to the shorter flowers below it.
Chrom smiled, the gift from Viridi having blessed his nation and he, in turn, protecting nature whenever he could. He raised his left hand and gazed upon the other flower that Viridi had granted him. The small blue and golden flower had saved his life and his tactician's life on multiple occasions. He wasn't able to explain where the flower came from nor where it could be found. Instead, he dodged the question in response to being confronted about it.
Chrom heard footsteps behind him, which were followed by a manly voice that said, "I thought I might find you here."
Chrom turned around to find Robin, the real Robin, standing before him. His tactician held a tome with a lightning bolt across the front. The robes were the same as the female Robin's that he knew before, but the man wearing them was someone else: his brother-in-law, thanks to Lissa's bond with him as husband and wife.
Chrom sighed. "You didn't have to search hard to find me."
Robin chuckled. "Yeah, but Lissa and Sumia spent almost an hour looking for you. They only asked me to look a moment ago."
Chrom shrugged. "What did the women want this time?"
Robin shook his head. "They needed you for something I wasn't invited to."
Chrom frowned. "It's not like Lissa to exclude you."
Now it was Robin's turn to shrug. "I guess she has her reasons." Robin relaxed his shoulders. "Are you ever going to explain what these two flowers are, or am I going to be left in the dark forever?"
Chrom shook his head. "I guess the best way to say it is they're gifts from a girl who has a passion for nature."
"So, those two gifts were the whole reason you have a green thumb?"
"Yes, that's one way to see it."
Robin clasped his tome. "I'll see you inside. Don't be too long or Sumia's going to come out here and fetch you."
Chrom waved him off. "Just buy me a little more time."
Robin walked off as another voice could be heard behind him. "It's been awhile, Exalt Chrom."
Chrom turned around and was greeted by the sight of Elliot, aged by about twenty years' time. "Elliot? My goodness, you've changed."
Elliot smiled. "And you've grown more fond of the greatest gift ever given."
Chrom chuckled. "Or maybe you haven't. How's Robin?"
"She goes by Katrina Aerolla now, but she's our top combatant. How's Lucina holding out?"
"She's doing pretty well, both infant and adult. I was wondering something. Did you find out what the Acumen Perennial does?"
Elliot nodded. "The Acumen Perennial blesses the land it grows in and protects the leader from unnatural effects. The flower on your wrist is another plant altogether. Both were grown in the hopes that all magical ailments you come across could be either removed or prevented."
Chrom glanced to the flower on his wrist. "In that case, both have been helpful on my travels." Chrom looked back to his friend. "To what do I owe the pleasure?"
Elliot's smiled widened. "Vacation. I've been released from the police force for about two weeks, so I thought I'd catch up with you and we could share some stories."
Chrom nodded. "Sounds like a good idea. Why don't we head inside? I'm sure I can get us a place to talk in peace."
Elliot shook his head. "Hey, I thought you'd prefer the natural environment. We could sit down and talk out here."
Chrom held out his hand in a thankful gesture. "That's the best idea I've heard all day."
The two proceeded to relax as they talked over the adventures they had, the battles they fought, and the different people they've encountered. Their conversation lasted all afternoon and into the sunset as they enjoyed the time as old friends would.
