Chapter One: A New Challenge

Within the North Galaxy was the Planet known as Earth. Ninety nine percent of its inhabitants are dead, having been killed by a horrible monster. Some of the worlds greatest fighters tried to stop the rising threat but to no avail. In the end only two warriors remained. They did their best to rise to the occasion, but their efforts were still not enough. One of the warriors had two special earrings, and if two people each put one on they would join bodies and become one. After a motivational speech the two warriors had merged into one, marking them as the last hope for the Universe.

"Come on Buu, I thought you were stronger than that." The fused warrior smirked.

His name was Vegito, and he was the last protector of Earth. He was the fusion of Goku and Vegeta, two of the strongest Saiyan warriors in the Universe. When they put on the earrings they joined their bodies into one, combining both of their gigantic powers into one powerful warrior. Vegito was stronger, faster, tougher, and had the strategic mind and battle prowess of two of the mightiest Saiyan warriors. All of those factors truly made him a force to be reckoned with, and his power had been unmatched.

Not just that, but his appearance was a mixture of both warriors involved. His hair spiked upward like fire, with two forelocks hanging over his face. His outfit was Goku's standard marital arts gi, except the colors were reversed. So instead of a blue undershirt with an orange over-shirt and matching pants, it was the opposite. On his feet were two white boots while his hands were covered by white gloves. And completing the look were the two orange earrings which hung from his ears.

On the opposite side of the battlefield was the villain known as Majin Buu: a pink-skinned monster with power unlike anything seen before by the protectors of Earth. His strength was amazing, as well as his speed, but he had other abilities at his disposal as well. One of which was the ability to turn someone or something into anything he desired, most of the time it ended up being chocolate or some form of candy. That was the fate for most of his opponent's friends and family, and he took great delight in doing so. Another crucial ability was his absorption, which allowed him to use any part of his body to trap his victims and take their powers and characteristics. Buu had done this several times now, and each time just made him more and more powerful than before.

Thus far the battle had been pretty one sided, even when they fought on even ground. The fused warrior had proven that he was far superior to the pink monster. His opponent had tried every attack he could think of but nothing worked, and not even using the techniques of the warriors the demon had absorbed into his body worked. His opponent even used techniques that had never been seen before, but the Saiyan was always one step ahead. Turning the fused warrior into chocolate also backfired, a shocking surprise to both warriors.

"I am the strongest, and I will make you pay!"

Each time Super Buu failed it made him angrier and angrier, and he was quickly reaching his breaking point. Super Buu then screamed at the top of his lungs, making the entire battlefield shake. His energy exploded, engulfing his body in a huge aura of pink. Sparks of electricity traveled all along his body, further accentuating his growing anger. He then clenched his fists tightly as he dashed forward, ready to attack his foe with everything he could muster.

Vegito simply stood there as his foe came at him, not feeling concerned at all. Seconds later he found himself getting attacked relentlessly Punches and kicks flew at the Saiyan, but it wasn't enough, as Vegito was avoiding every hit with very little effort. After a while he punched his foe in the gut, stopping the assault. He grabbed the pink head tentacle and swung his enemy around several times, and after a few moments he let him go.

A satisfied grin came to the Super Saiyan's face as he watched Buu crash right into a cliff. He waited only a couple of seconds before moving from his spot. Within a second he was on the other side of the cliff, just as the monster was coming out the other side. Reeling his leg back slightly, the Saiyan swung it at his oncoming opponent. His kick launched his foe high into the air, but that wasn't enough. Moving quickly the fused warrior flew behind his opponent and kicked him yet again.

Majin Buu was helpless to defend himself as he was flung all around the battlefield. It was like some kind of real life pinball game, and he was the ball.

"Hey this is fun, maybe I'll get a high score!" Vegito exclaimed as he kept on making a fool out of the monster.

He soon grew tired and decided to end it, which he did by launching the monster straight into the ground with a single punch. As his opponent crashed the fused Saiyan flew down and landed in the crater next to his foe. "That has to be a record. Hm, what do you think?"

The demon slowly stood up, revealing his bruised body. His anger was quickly rising, and at that point he was seething with pure rage. "I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!"

Buu shouted once more before he dashed towards his enemy, all the while hoping to tear that smug look off of his foe's face. Despite knowing it was futile the monster persisted, throwing punches and kicks at lightning speed. The assault on his arrogant opponent was futile, as every single hit was dodged with ease. Of course that only made Super Buu angrier, but not even his growing rage would help him.

At a certain point the pink monster realized that his attack wasn't working... well he already knew that, but he was now thinking of a different strategy. So the first opportunity he got he ascended high into the air, trying to put as much distance between him and his enemy as possible. Once high enough he held out his hands, aiming them right at the Saiyan. With a mighty roar the monster unleashed a barrage of energy blasts, hoping to completely overwhelm his arrogant opponent.

From down bellow Dende, the guardian of the planet and one of the few remaining survivors, looked on in horror as the last hope of the universe was getting hit by all of those shots. Unfortunately, while he was the guardian of Earth, he didn't have much power. Dende did have some magic on his side, but compared to Vegito he was an insect. So all he could do was look on in worry.

Each blast hit with deadly precision, and caused a huge cloud of smoke and dust to form. The monster continued blasting away, wanting to use as much overkill as possible. After a minute Buu stopped firing, needing a moment to rest. Staring at the huge cloud of smoke made the pink monster grin, which was then followed by a huge fit of laughter.

"I hope you realize now what happens when you fight Buu!" He shouted in triumph.

Majin Buu's happiness soon turned to fear though, as he caught sight of something troubling. As the smoke slowly dissipated the demon could make out a figure, and there was only one person it could be. Once it fully cleared away his fears were confirmed. His opponent was still there, and by the looks of it he was fine. The energy blasts hadn't effect him at all, and the only thing it seemed to have done was get his foe a little dirty.

"Hey what happened, I could have sworn you hit me. I mean you were aiming at me weren't you? I guess you just don't have what it takes to defeat me." Vegito proclaimed as he flew up towards his scared enemy.

Panic started to set in as the monster watched his opponent come closer and closer. "Take this!" Buu screamed as he fired an energy ball at his opponent, only for it to be deflected easily.

Unfortunately, the energy ball had been deflected towards Dende and the only other survivor; the World Martial Arts Champion Hercule Satan. They tried running away, but it was just no use. The speed of the blast was just too fast. Before either of them could react the blast struck the area they had been in, completely engulfing them. The sheer amount of power behind the attack was too much, and they both were completely disintegrated.

With Dende dead that meant the Dragon Balls were also gone. The Dragon Balls were seven mystical orbs that once gathered, summoned the Eternal Dragon Shernon. Shenron had the power to grant any two wishes, and while there were some restrictions he was still pretty powerful. One such thing he could do was bring anyone back to life, only if they hadn't been brought back already. So with the Dragon Balls gone nobody could be brought back to life, which meant that everyone was permanently dead.

Sensing the sudden drop of the two spectators Vegito looked towards where the blast had made impact. His eyes went wide upon realizing that Dende and Mr. Satan had been down there. When he deflected the energy sphere he didn't know or care where it went, as it wouldn't have damaged the planet that much, but now he was regretting his lack of action.

"No..." He muttered as his fists clenched tight.

The anger inside of the Saiyan was rising, and it threatened to erupt. Everyone he ever knew and cared about was gone forever, and there was no way to bring them back! It was his fault, for not taking Buu down when he had the chance. Several opportunities had presented themselves, but he didn't seize them. As those thoughts lingered he finally noticed his opponent was laughing, and was having a great time by the looks of it. Just staring at the monster was bad enough, but seeing the joy he was feeling made the Super Saiyan madder.

A quick kick to the side of the head stopped the madness. "You're going to pay for that!"

Vegito then let loose a flurry of punches and kicks, rendering his foe unable to fight back. The barrage of attacks continued and he showed no signs of stopping. His opponent had tried to escape but was unable to, and with the way the Saiyan was feeling he wasn't going to let that happen. Super Vegito then sent the monster flying to the ground by joining his two fists together and slamming them into the back of his head.

After that Vegito descended onto the ground, ready to finish this once and for all. "I'm tired of these games Buu, you're starting to bore me."

"I know I can beat you, I'm the strongest in the universe!" Buu exclaimed.

The fused warrior was not intimidated by that, as he had already proven that he could win. Even in his normal state they were pretty evenly matched, so he knew it was an empty threat. "Oh give it a rest already, I'm the strongest in the universe and I'm going to finish you off right now!"

Without warning Vegito spread his arms far apart, making his opponent freeze up in fear. Twin spheres of blue ki built up in his hands as his aura flared. "Final..." Super Vegito then moved his hands in close and brought them together, resting them at his side. "KA-ME-HA-ME-HA!" He shouted as he unleashed a huge golden beam of pure energy at the monster. He had just thought up that attack, which was a combination of the signature techniques of both Goku and Vegeta. It certainly made for one powerful blast.

In a panic Buu fired a beam back to combat it. The two attacks collided and each warrior did their best to push the other back, well... it was mostly the demon having to use all his power. Although he was putting all of his energy into the attack it still wasn't enough, and he quickly realized that the beam struggle would soon be over. 'No, this can't be happening. I am Majin Buu, the strongest being in the universe!'

"Goodbye Buu!"

The power of Vegito's beam was greater than his opponent's and the Final-Kamehameha easily overpowered the monster. His foe was engulfed by the beam and every part of him was being destroyed. The whole sky lit up as his beam traveled through the air, now streaking across the horizon. As the energy blast left the area returned to normal, and once completely gone nothing was left.

The terror known as Majin Buu was gone forever.

In a higher plane of existence was the Sacred World of the Kais, home to the Supreme Kais. They were essentially the overseers of the universe, and each one watched over a different section of the universe. It was their job to watch over the universe, as well as keep it safe. There were only two Kais left, as the others had been killed mean years ago. There was the Eastern Supreme Kai, who had ended up fusing with his attendant Kibito, and his ancestor who had recently been freed from a long imprisonment.

The two of them had both made efforts to stop Majin Buu, but even their godly power proved useless. Despite not being strong enough the two still found a way to help. In fact, Old Kai had been the one to give the fusion earrings to Goku and Vegeta. He knew that it was the only chance they had left, and thanks to him the universe had another chance.

After that they decided to simply wait on their planet, as well as watch the events unfold. They were both a little nervous when the two Saiyans didn't fuse right away, but they calmed down when the Saiyans finally did fuse. Their concerns increased as the battle raged on though, as it seemed like their champion was getting a bit full of himself. Multiple opportunities to defeat Buu came, but the warrior took none of them. Luckily for them, their champion eventually got serious, which solidified their victory. And when the battle ended neither one of them could believe it, and neither one had felt so happy in such a long time.

"He did it, he won!" Old Kai exclaimed as both he and the younger Kai started dancing around wildly.

In the Other World King Yemma was also jumping for joy, as the defeat of Majin Buu effected him as well. It was because of him all of this happened, since it was his idea to send Vegeta back to Earth in the first place. Thanks to him Goku had a fusion partner, and together they were able to save the entire Universe. He definitely deserved a pat on the back for his genius move.

"You see Baba, sending Vegeta back to fight was my best idea yet!"

Next to him was an old witch named Baba, who had also played a part in the death of Majin Buu. All she really did was bring Vegeta to Earth, as after that she simply watched everything unfold in the safety of Other World. "I suppose you're right King Yemma... and here I thought you were nothing but a brainless oaf."

The two shared a laugh for a few moments before Yemma realized he had just been insulted. "Hey!"

Back on Earth Vegito was still in the battlefield, sporting a smirk. "Well I guess that settles that, I'm the strongest in the universe now." He noted as he powered down out of Super Saiyan.

Back in his normal form the Saiyan took a good look around, and all that he saw was destruction. A strong gust of wind blew, further signifying the emptiness. He was the last one on Earth, and with Dende gone he couldn't wish everyone back. His friends and family were permanently gone, and there was nothing he could do. It was a lot to take in at the moment, and he needed to clear his head... but first he needed to tell the Kais the good news, as he was sure they wanted to hear about what happened.

So he put two fingers on his forehead and used Instant Transmission to reach the Supreme Kai's planet.

The two Kais were still celebrating on the planet, having done so for several minutes. It was still pretty hard to believe; the monster responsible for so much death and destruction was finally dead. All of their fears and nightmares were gone, and now there was peace in the universe. It was as if a big weight had been taken off their shoulders.

A few moments later the fused Saiyan appeared, making the two overseers of the universe stop dancing. "I guess you two heard the news?" He questioned with a smirk.

"Congratulations on defeating Majin Buu!" Kibito Kai exclaimed.

"Yes congratulations, um... hm, you're not really Goku or Vegeta anymore, so I'm not sure what to call you."

"My name is Vegito." He told them.

They both nodded.

"Well, Vegito, good job on your victory. I was starting to get worried that your power got to your head, and that you would have gotten too carried away." Old Kai stated.

In response the warrior grinned. "I can see why you were worried, but there's no need for concern now. I just wish my friends and family were alive to see my greatest victory and my amazing power."

That wasn't just him being arrogant, he really was going to miss his friends and family. He had spent a lot of time with them, and had been through so much, but now it was all over. He then thought back to the Cell Games, and how Goku didn't want to be wished back. His friends and family had clearly been devastated, and now here he was in a similar situation. It definitely stung, that was for sure.

That wasn't his only problem though, which became clear as another thought entered his mind. "Listen you wouldn't happen to know of any other strong fighters that need to be defeated? Or any other challenges that need tackling?"

Both Kais fell backwards, confusing the warrior. "You just defeated one of the most powerful monsters in the Universe and now you want more?!" Old Kai yelled.

"Well... yeah." He figured battling strong opponents would help ease his mind.

There was a pause before Old Kai spoke. "I'm sorry but there are no fighters left..." A small devious grin then appeared on his face. "but there is something else you could do, it should prove just as challenging."

"Well, what is it?" The fused Saiyan questioned.

"There is a land known as Equestria, full of numerous creatures, but the most known are the magical Ponies. It is a very beautiful place, much like Earth, although there is so much more natural beauty. The challenge I have for you is to go there and make friends with the inhabitants. Those Ponies seem to know a lot about friendship, which I've heard can lead to something magical. I'm sure this will be no problem for such a great warrior like yourself."

In an instant the excitement from the warrior vanished as that wasn't quite what he had in mind, and his stunned face conveyed that perfectly. "Did you say... Ponies?" He received a nod from the Kai, making him angry. "I am a warrior, not some kind of little kid. I have better things to do than play with Ponies!"

"But I thought you wanted a challenge?" Old Kai asked.

"Yeah but..."

"And besides it's not like you really have anything better to do." The elder Kai noted.

As much as the Saiyan didn't want to admit it the Kai made another great point. With everyone gone there was nothing for him back on Earth, except loneliness and sorrow. He would rather not go back there anyway, at least not right away, so going to Equestria would at least give him something to do. And it was probably better to head to a hospitable planet than to just roam the Universe.

As he contemplated this another thought came to his mind. "Wait how do you know about this place?" A small part of him was beginning to think this was all some kind of sick joke, which would be very unfortunate for the Kai.

"I learned about it long ago, before that whole crazy mess with the Z-Sword. So are you up to the task, or is it too challenging for you?"

Vegito thought about it for a moment, and decided it was worth a shot. Worst case scenario the fused Saiyan would just leave and demand a new challenge. Yes, that's what he would do. "Fine I'll go, but is there anything I should know before going?"

"I'll I can say is try to restrain yourself, and don't make a big mess!" Old Kai shouted right in the Saiyan's ear, hoping to give the message loud and clear.

After recovering from the assault to his eardrums he placed two fingers onto his forehead. "Alright so where is it?"

"It's in the West Galaxy, Kibito Kai can take you there." Old Kai motioned over to the younger god.

The fused Saiyan took his fingers off of his forehead and let out a sigh. "Got it, well I guess we should get going."

"One more thing... don't go picking fights with the inhabitants. We all know you are the strongest, so there is no need to pick on innocent Ponies." Old Kai warned in a serious tone.

Vegito turned towards the elder Kai and grinned. "I honestly don't expect these Ponies to be any sort of challenge."

Moments later Kibito Kai took hold of the Saiyan, and moments later they vanished. The duo then arrived in a grassy field, right outside of a small town. "Well this is it. Good luck Vegito."

Vegito didn't respond right away, instead he took a few seconds to take in his surroundings. It was true what the elder Kai had said, Equestria did look a little like Earth. There were lush green fields of grass, lots of blooming flowers, and in the distance he could see some mountain ranges. He could also hear the various sounds of nearby animals, as well as a far off stream.

He continued staring for a few moments before shifting his gaze to the Kai. "Thanks, but I won't need it."

The Kai only nodded before heading back to his home, leaving Vegito alone to attempt his challenge.

Once back on his home planet the younger Kai looked over to his ancestor. "Do you think he can do it elder?"

"Well... it's tough to say. He certainly is full of himself, but he didn't seem as hotheaded as Vegeta." Old Kai noted as he gazed off into space. 'Only time can tell I suppose.'

Vegito stood there for a few moments and sensed out the power levels around, and to his disappointment they were all weaker than Raditz. He then headed for the nearest town, which was fairly close to where he had been dropped off. At first glance it seemed pretty simplistic, which made him wonder how technologically advanced Equesria was. Given what inhabited this world, he figured it wasn't that far along in terms of technology. But he had been surprised before, so maybe this would be one of them.

True to what the god said there were indeed Ponies, and just looking at them made the Saiyan sigh lightly. Their coats and manes were all brightly colored, and their eyes were as big as saucers. Everypony he saw had strange marks on their flanks, but for what purpose he didn't know. They all seemed really happy, as evidenced by their bright smiles. The sight of it all was enough to make the Saiyan sick, and would certainly take some time to get used to.

Pushing those thoughts aside for now he began wandering around the town, and as soon as he set foot all eyes quickly fell on him. There was a mixture of curiosity and fear on the Ponies' faces, and it instantly became obvious that there were no creatures like him here. He could also hear them whisper and murmur to one another, thanks to his greater than average hearing. While he could hear everything being said about him he didn't pay them any mind... for now at least.

There were several different shops and houses around, a good amount of them seemed to sell food. A few moments later the feeling of hunger overcame him, and made him realized that he hadn't had any food since before he was born... the thought of which confused him. It was then that he noticed somepony was giving away apples. It wasn't much, but it was a start.

"Get yer apples here!" The Pony in question had an orange coat, blonde mane, and was wearing a stetson. It looked like business was booming. Her smile from all the business turned into a confused look as a strange creature approached her. "Uh... can ah help ya?" She asked as the strange creature continued walking before stopping in front of her cart.

"Yes you can, I'll take all of these apples!"

That caught her off guard, as nopony ever bought that many apples at once. A huge smile soon came onto her face. "Boy ya must be real hungry... that'll be 75 bits." She told him while holding out her hoof, expecting payment for her apples.

A moment of silence occurred as the Saiyan stared at the Pony. "What's a bit?"

The Earth Pony raised an eyebrow, all the while staring at him curiously. Was he really that stupid or just playing some kind of sick joke? "Yer not from around here are ya?" She asked as he shook his head no. "Come to think of it, ah don't even know what kind of creature ya are."

"My name is Vegito and I'm a Saiyan warrior from the planet Earth." He could tell his answer didn't clear up any confusion, and in fact seemed to make her even more confused.

The Pony had no idea what a Saiyan was, and she also didn't know there were more planets out there in space. That information was a lot to take in, but she didn't really want to spend a lot of time trying to wrap her brain around it. "Alrighty then... but ya still need bits to get these apples. Bits are our form o' currency."

A groan escaped the Saiyan's mouth. "Be right back." He said as he used Instant Transmission to go back to the Sacred World of the Kais, because the gods had some explaining to do.

The orange Pony blinked twice. "Now where in the hay did he go?" She asked to nopony while trying to process everything that just happened.

Vegtio arrived at the Sacred World of the Kais a few seconds later, and the scowl upon his face meant he demanded answers.

"So you're back already... couldn't handle it?" Old Kai asked smugly.

"You didn't tell me I needed money!" Vegito yelled.

"Of course you need money! What did you expect, to get everything for free?"

Money had never really been a problem for either Goku or Vegeta, as their wives had more than enough money to live off of. Of course that didn't help him now. "So how am I supposed to eat?!" Eating grass was not an option, and going hungry was something he really wanted to avoid. The thought of taking the apples crossed his mind, as that Pony wouldn't be able to stop him... but he quickly discarded the thought. Stealing was wrong, even if it was to feed himself.

"Maybe you should try getting a job!" The elder Supreme Kai screamed.

"A job?! I'm the strongest warrior in the universe, do you honestly expect me to work?"

The elder Kai crossed his arms in a huff. "Well until you have friends to mooch off of you'll just have to suck it up. Honestly this generation is so lazy!"

"Fine... maybe that apple cart girl knows where I can find work." Before leaving the planet he had locked onto the energy of the Ponies, and thus he was able to get back there himself.

The blonde Pony was still confused, and she still had no idea where the creature had gone. And not a moment later the weird 'thing' came back out of nowhere. Several questions came to her mind, and she only hoped that the answer didn't create more confusion. Her first guess was magic, but he didn't have any sort of horn on his head. It could have hidden under his unruly mane, but horns usually pointed outwards and not upwards. The Earth Pony made a note to ask him about it later.

"Where in the hay did you go, and how'd ya come back so quickly?"

"No time to explain... listen I need a job do you know where I can find one Ms..."

"Applejack. Ah might be able ta get ya a job at mah family's orchard, if yer really serious about workin'." Applejack explained.

"Well I don't really have much of a choice." He stated.

In spite of some reluctance she couldn't deny him the opportunity, so she let out a sigh before packing up her cart. 'Why do ah get the feeling that this guy is more trouble than he's worth?'

4/15/2017 Special Author's Note

Hello this is just a message to those of you who are just joining us. As you may or may not know Vegito has made his return in Dragon Ball Super, although not in the same way. It was still the same Vegito we know and love, but apparently the rules of his fusion has changed. All non gods who wear the fusion earrings will only stay fused for an hour... yeah, I don't really agree with that. I mean it does explain why he unfused inside Buu, but we all kind of accepted that Buu's magic defused him. Plus it makes Goku's speech to Vegeta about putting aside their differences and fusing pointless. So yeah, in my story Vegito's fusion is permanent. I just wanted to let you all know so you aren't confused. Thank you for taking the time to check out my story, and I hope you continue to read on and enjoy!
