Climactic Clash

The time had finally come for the young Warpstar Knight to put his battle skills to the ultimate test.
"Are you ready, Kirby?" Meta Knight inquired, casting back his concealing cloak.
Kirby looked to his mentor and nodded firmly. A breeze swept over their grassy arena, and the nearby forest then fell silent for the climactic duel.

The blue warrior, having superior speed, made the first move. He charged his smaller opponent, winding up for a devastating slash attack. The pink puff, however, was not to be underestimated; he evaded the slash by sheer luck, and retaliated with a solid kick. The blue fighter recoiled, but shook off the attack and returned his sharp yellow gaze to his opponent.

"Impressive." commented Meta Knight, his tone calm and neutral.
No reply. Kirby was concentrating on which move to make next, determination filling his dark eyes.

The pink fighter broke the deadlock, rushing at the other headfirst in a headbutt attack. But the blue warrior had already braced himself, and successfully endured the impact. They once more paused to watch each other warily and decide on the next move.

"Hmmm..." Meta Knight mused. Kirby's skills were greater than he had expected; he wondered whether the young Knight had been training on his own. But he certainly didn't want this battle to be easy, so the elder warrior prepared to unleash his ultimate attack.

Then Tiff approached. "Hey, what are you guys doing?" she piped.
Meta Knight dropped his N64 controller and quickly went over to Tiff to distract her. "Oh, hello Tiff. I was just helping Kirby to train...You know...Increase his skill as...uh...a Warpstar Knight."
The Cappy girl stretched onto her tiptoes to see around him. "Really?" She then caught a glimpse of what Kirby was doing. "Hey...Why did you bring a TV and a Nintendo 64 all the way out here into the forest?" Kirby smiled and waved at Tiff, then continued poking buttons on his controller and squeaking happily.
"Well, I was helping Kirby...uh...improve his...reflexes and...eye-hand co-ordination." Meta Knight muttered.
Stepping around Meta, Tiff moved closer to the TV and regarded the screen. "You're playing Pokémon Stadium with Kirby and you didn't tell me? Croconaw versus Jigglypuff...Hey Meta Knight, you're losing!" She spun around to glare at him. "You just didn't want to lose to a girl again, did you? So you came all the way out here to play your video games and didn't tell me!"
The normally unflappable Meta Knight suddenly looked quite ruffled. "I...uh....Of course not...."
"Kirby, give me your controller. I'm taking Meta Knight down...Super Smash Brothers style!" She whipped out a very familiar grey cartridge.
"Oh no, anything but THAT...!" Meta wailed, knowing already that it was hopeless. "Why don't you duel Kirby instead? He has remarkable talent for one without thumbs."
"No excuses, Meta Knight! Now come on, if you're lucky I'll go easy on you." The elder Knight sighed resignedly in response and picked up his controller.
Kirby hopped up and gave a happy chirp. He really did like this "training" stuff.
