Misty Waters

Misty's POV

"Leaving!?" I asked in horror, "You mean, like draining?"

Lorenzo was already moving with speeds quicker than I thought would be advisable for someone his age. He was walking very quickly up the stairs to the second floor.

"Get to higher ground," Lorenzo barked at us.

I looked to Drew. "Need help?"

Apparently though, Drew had gained some of his old self back because he smirked at me and made an attempt to flick his still wet hair. "I've got her."

He shifted and then hoisted May into his arms as he slowly got to his feet. May's arms limply hung from her side and her head lolled to rest by his shoulder. He moved forwards and adjusted his stance to account for the added weight.

I was happy enough to let Drew take care of it. Manly pride and all that stuff that boys go on about. I wasn't going to be on the end of a haughty tantrum from trying to help, even if all I wanted to do was arrange May's hand back into her lap.

I looked to see that Latias and Latios were up and gliding through the air to the topmost opening. Ash and Brock were urging Bianca along, who looked very shell shocked. I felt sorry for the girl. This was her home and so many things had happened in such a short amount of time.

Knowing everyone was ok, I bolted up the stairs and come out onto the very highest balcony.

My breath caught for a moment. It was so strange.

"It's… All dried up." Ash's voice startled me from behind me. He must've come up really fast to come out not long after me and I could hear that he was panting from running.

The town looked baron. The canals looked like a maze. In all honesty you probably could get lost in those streets now that all the water was gone.

From my vantage I could see the wreckage of a boat that had been smashed up against a mooring pole, I assumed from when the water had gone. Or had it been there before and was now uncovered?

"I'm afraid it's all coming back though," Lorenzo said.

"Huh, what do you mean?" Brock asked.

Lorenzo stared across the horizon. "This was how the original Latios drowned the evil fossil Pokémon."

Latias cried to Latios, who cried back and I glanced up to see them by the museum's top spire.

All was silent for a moment. Then a loud rumbling shook the ground, like the Earth itself was groaning. Lorenzo held onto Bianca as she let out a gasp.

The horizon looked like it was moving. I realised with a start that that the horizon didn't just seem like it was moving, but the waterline was rising. A huge wave was coming up. I could barely make out the line of white caps that danced along the top.

A wave that big would be devastatingly destructive.

Latias made another sound at Latios and when I glanced up they seemed to nod at each other.

"Ash, got a flying Pokémon on you?" I asked.

Ash stuttered for a moment and fumbled on his belt.

"Take Flygon." Drew's lips were pressed together. "Third on my belt."

I grabbed the ball and hurried to jump off the balcony as Latios and Latias shot off into the air. Ash screamed and I felt the brush of his fingers briefly on my arm.

"Flygon!" I yelled.

The Pokéball popped open and my fall was broken by the bug eyed Pokémon. He looked at my curiously and I swallowed the fear that welled up in my throat. I pointed forwards to the wave. "Go!"

No one's POV

Ash watched in horror as the orange haired water trainer shot off. "Drew!"

"I'm sure she has a plan," Drew replied, "She had a look on her face."

Ash just looked into the distance where Misty was becoming smaller and smaller against the raging water.

The large tsunami wave grew and crashed into a distant old building, crushing it under the sheer pressure.

Latios bowed her head, body glowing. Latias lined up next to her and bowed hers, glowing as well.

Misty urged Flygon faster, swallowing again at the looming wave. It was taller than she had ever seen or imagined. She fingered a Pokéball of her trusted companion, wondering if it was such a good idea. Get she still picked it up and threw the ball with all her might at the wave. "GYARADOS! HYDRO PUMP!"

Gyarados burst from his ball and was flung into the water. Misty anxiously watched for a moment. She was close now. Too close to risk Flygon. Misty took a deep breath and prepared herself.

Everyone on the balcony looked on in horror as Misty flung herself off Flygon's back and into the water just as Gyarados' attack cut through the water and split it. The attack came again and again, slicing the wave.

However before a fourth could be done a bright ball of light hit the wave. Latias and Latios we using safeguard together. As if by magic, which it very well could've been, the wave shrunk until it was a low tide seeping back in.

Under the water where the Kabutops had sunk, a small green light shone and soon there was no more. He was fossils again. Aerodactyl let out one last cry of defiance before he too disintegrated and was returned to being a fossil.

The water sloshed through the streets and crashed against walls, trying to find it's way through the maze until it evened out.

"Where did Latios and Latias go?" Brock asked.

Lorenzo hummed. "I suppose they're out there."

Ash looked nervous. "Where do you think Misty is?"

The look turned to him was one that made Ash's heart drop. "After jumping into that… She could be… Anywhere."

Ash's heart felt like it was shattering. In fact, by the look on his face, Brock could almost hear the pieces scattering on the ground.

Drew's shoulders sank. "I… I'm sorry. I really thought she had a plan."

Ash's sadness quickly turned to anger and Drew had to jump out the way to avoid a fist.

"Hey!" Drew exclaimed.

"It's YOUR fault!" Ash roared, enraged.

Drew yelped and tried dodging again. He slipped and fell. With May in his arms, there wasn't a lot to break his fall and he landed hard on his elbows. Intense pain shot up his arm and they gave out under him. May landed in his lap and jolted. She woke with a start and turned to see Drew's face surprisingly screwed with pain.

Confused, May got up, even more baffled to see Brock struggling to restrain Ash.

"If she's gone it's all your fault!" Ash yelled.

"Ash! Calm down," Brock was saying, "We will go look for her as soon as we can."

"What… Happened?" May asked.

Bianca grabbed onto May's hand, tears in her eyes. "Oh May, you've missed a lot. Latias and Latios are out there somewhere in the water and we have no idea where Misty could've gone."

"Why?" May asked, holding her head. She had a severe headache.

"A lot happened, we'll have to explain to you on the way out," Bianca said.

At her confused look, Lorenzo stepped in. "We'll take a boat when the water has calmed down a minute."

"That's not quick enough!" Ash ripped himself away and ran back down to ground level, looking for a wave racer. "I'll find her myself!" Pikachu followed him out with a determined chattering even as Ash fingered the Pokéball of his Totodile.

Drew writhed in pain and attention was drawn to him as he rolled to his side, clutching his elbow.

"Did Ash catch you?" Brock asked, kneeling.

Drew gasped and May was surprised to see tears lining his lower lid. "No, I hit my elbow on the floor. It hurts like nothing else."

"We may have to see a doctor." Brock shrugged his jacket off and tried helping Drew to sit up. "Hold still, I'm just going to wrap it up until we can get that seen to."

Drew grit his teeth and hissed at Brock as his arm was moved up to his chest.

"This will be better in the end, you'll see," Brock replied.

"I think the water has calmed down," Lorenzo said, "I'm going to take a boat to find Latios and Latias."

"I'm coming with," Bianca piped up, "May, you're coming too right?"

May gave a glance to Drew. She was unsure if you should leave him.

Brock just nodded to May. "Go ahead. I'll go with Drew. Bianca will be telling you what happened anyway because you've been unconscious for a while now."

"I'm surprised I'm not dead," May replied honestly.

"You probably could've been," Brock replied, "But I think if you go, there will be a good friendly face for Ash. I'm sure he'll need it."

"Look after Drew then," May said, following Lorenzo and Bianca out, "I'll be back."

Drew gave a weak smirk. "You'd better be. You haven't thanked me for saving your life."

And with that, May's cheeks puffed and she stomped away.

Drew: Did you hurt me like that? Really?

Misty: Forget that! Did you just kill me!?

May: Yeah, why couldn't it have been Drew?

Me: *nervous laughter* I just... I mean... Plot?

Ash: *sulks in corner*

Me: OH it's not like you guys are actually harmed. This is just a story!

I'll be travelling next week overseas for a while. It's worked out so I'm going to miss three weeks without uploading. Bit of a long time, but I want to enjoy my holiday overseas without stressing so much. See you all soon!
