The room was blank white, the barest shadows there were being pale lavender or blue. The only difference from the luminosity was rusted chains around the throne, and then around a young boy. His eyes were blue and vacant and confused, as if he didn't quite understand what was around him.

Ventus had been chained to this throne for ten years now.

His heart shattered, but with it taking refuge elsewhere between light and dark, his body was left dimly awake. Catatonic, in a sense. He could walk, some orders could be followed and he recognized a few things, but otherwise he stared blankly. Expression was rare, and purpose or drive was nonexistent. He had been sitting there for ten years, alone, with nothing but his own screaming thoughts and restrained.

He blinked slowly, remembering Aqua's words, "I'm sorry, Ven, but in this state I can't have you running off. It's too dangerous." His hands twitched as he tried to replicate the feeling of her hand against his cheek, "I know, it's gonna be lonely here, but I promise I'll be back soon. I just can't have you roam around when there's such a chance you could hurt yourself like this. Please, stay here, stay safe, I'll come back to wake you up before you know it."

He tried to connect the odd choking sounds she was making in the memory with an emotion. What was it again? He could barely remember, these ten years had been nothing but losing his mind. He was aware his heart was elsewhere, that it could remember, that it could help him wake from this nightmare, this drug like stupor where he couldn't even scream or beg to be released from torment and solitude. But his heart was asleep. He didn't know where it was anyways.

His hands twitched again, but this time the force caused small chimes to be heard from the links. A tear slipped down his blank expression. He just wanted to go home, to see his friends. How long had it been since they were together? Since they would chart the stars and retell legends they had read in Master Eraqus's tomes? He wondered over the thought of hearing laughter again...

He blinked again, slower than before, at the idea that maybe Aqua was laughing when she left him. No... No she wasn't it was a horrible gasping noise like she was holding something back, or perhaps she was being choked. That wasn't laughter. That was sobbing. Ventus leaned forward as much as he could, trying to find some way to curl up. He wanted to so badly, to find a way to comfort himself when no one could.

The chains broke. After all, they couldn't last forever and were going to break eventually. Ven tumbled to the floor, encircled by broken links. He was just a splayed doll on the ground now; forgotten, ignored. Wasn't anyone going to come to his rescue? Had everyone forgotten about the poor boy hidden away from the worlds?

His tears continued, his face writhing with sorrow to the smallest degree. He didn't want to get up. He just wanted to be alive.

This is what I get for seeing a pic on DA that I soon realized wasn't Ventus being metaphorically chained like literally chained because what if he was actually semi awake for his long sleep like OW NO CAN WE NOT PLEASE
