I'll keep this short.

It's been years since I last updated, I know. I'm sorry to all those left hanging and waiting for this story to continue. Unfortunately, this isn't a new chapter, but instead a note to say I'm officially discontinuing this fic. I really do appreciate the reviews and follows you all have given me and if I still had any sort of active interest in Naruto or the will to write at all, I would finish this story, however, I moved on a long time ago and even my adoration for Madara has faded over time. He'll always hold a place in my heart, but yeah, I'm done.

If anyone is interested in what I remember planning for this story, I'll jot down the few things I remember. I didn't keep notes so this is going purely on memory, so some things might not mesh with what I've already written for the fic:

-Madara and Sakura's relationship would have kept developing in a positive, respectful way until Kabuto did his edo tensei

-At some point he'd trust her enough to voluntarily remove the seal from her tongue, though he also secretly would use it as a test for her to see if he could fully trust her. He is surprised when he feels a bit guilty over the test and isn't sure why

-Sakura is invested in trying to change his mind about enacting eye of the moon, she keeps his presence a secret

-Madara becomes more fond of Naruto over time but will never like Sasuke, partly for how he treats Sakura

-Madara and Sakura would both come to terms with growing feelings for each other, though Madara would have been in denial for a little bit. He eventually accepts that he really cares about her

-Madara would at some point face that he had feelings for Hashirama back in the day. I planned to write/was writing him as demisexual (doesn't feel sexual attraction unless he trusts / feels close to someone)

-Madara would have been the one to initiate the first kiss, in his younger form / while using Sakura's shadow clone as a body, sometime at night under the moon

-He would have enjoyed teasing her but since realizing feelings for her, never took it too far to the point of being malicious or anything. She earned his respect and that was big for him

-Sakura and Naruto (watching and interacting with Naruto to be specific) are what change Madara's mind about eye of the moon, though he doesn't make a final decision about it until he's edo tensei'd and stepping onto the battlefield. moment of truth sort of thing

-The plot would have followed official canon up until the ninja war when Madara's edo tensei is summoned

-Sakura would feel devastated when Madara's soul is painfully torn from her and been desperate to figure out what happened, but the war would start and she wouldn't have time, but it would plague her during the entire war. I hadn't decided if I'd have her confide in Naruto or not when they meet up during the war

-Once edo Madara decides he's not doing eye of the moon, he undoes Kabuto's control seal and fucks off to look for Obito leaving the ninja army behind untouched

-Itachi still succeeds in ending edo tensei, this doesn't affect Madara since he's already undone the seal

-When Madara finds Obito fighting Naruto and Bee, he uses the control seal implanted in his heart to force a rebirth for himself and takes back his Rinnegan. Thanks Obito for his service before Obito dies. Since Obito didn't get stabbed through the heart by Kakashi like in canon, he couldn't fight Madara's control

-Madara is no nonsense and bodies Naruto and the 8tails and takes their tailed beasts easily. This does temporarily kill Naruto and Bee, but after Madara becomes the Sage, he brings the two back to life via resurrection jutsu/outer path. This doesn't kill him because he's host to the juubi and has immense chakra, but it does weaken him quite a bit. He's kind of amused at himself since he never would have revived anyone else if he hadn't changed thanks to Sakura mainly

-Madara leaves to recover from doing the outer path justsu and the war kind of fizzles out and the ninja army is left wondering wtf happened. Sakura hears about Madara from Naruto and is both happy he's alive and mad that he left and temporally killed Naruto. She wants to go look for him but cannot find the opportunity to do so

-The ninja army sends scouts out to try and find Madara but no luck, he's hidden somewhere, so after a week the army splits and everyone heads back to their respective villages

-Black zetsu is killed after delivering the 2nd Rinnegan to Madara, after Madara deems him unnecessary since eye of the moon isn't happening anymore. No chance for black zetsu to backstab

-After 2 weeks of gathering chakra and preparing, Madara creates an army of wood clones and starts going village to village enacting his alternate plan. He's met with some resistance but crushes it without killing anyone

-Alternate plan is this: reform ninjutsu into ninshu, what the original sage intended. (copy paste for you guys - 'Hagoromo exemplified his teachings by distributing chakra meant to "connect" people's spiritual energies with one another. It would allow people to understand each other without communication and pray for one another's safety'). So Madara would alter chakra cores and whatnot to prevent weaponized ninjutsu and offensive techniques and that sort of thing, and make it so that chakra can only be used to connect with and understand the emotions of others. He got this idea from his time with Sakura and Naruto and watching how they connected with their friends, and especially how Naruto was about to connect with many other people and sway their minds

-The ninja villages would initially balk at the change but Madara forces it along. He leaves Konoha for last

-Madara and Sakura reunite and hash out their feelings. Sakura gets a good punch in and he allows it, then hugs her and admits he loves her (and she loves him. They both actually shed tears). Sakura is the only one spared from the altering of ninjutsu to ninshu so she can keep her healing skills. She feels a little guilty about being the only one but Madara reassures her and comforts her

-Time goes on and the ninja villages adapt to the change and the world becomes more peaceful. There are conflicts here and there but Madara makes it his mission to smooth out issues and keep everyone moving towards a better future

-Naruto steps up and leads Konoha and helps Madara quite a bit, which Madara finds kind of surprising but it pleased about

-After a few years Madara marries Sakura. She moves out of Konoha to live with Madara. I hadn't decided on children or not

-Since Madara is the juubi host he lives a very long time, and Sakura would age to mid 20s and they'd talk about lifespans. Sakura would agree to allow Madara to use techniques/chakra to keep her body from aging fast / rejuvenate her so she could stand by his side for hundreds of years

-Eventually though she would decide it's enough and it's time to move on, and Madara would grieve her death and remove the Juubi from himself, seal it in the moon, and with no black zetsu around it would stay sealed in the moon. Madara would then join Sakura in death and the last scene would be them reuniting in the afterlife and an appearance from Izuna

-Kind of sad ending but Madara and Sakura would have left the world a very peaceful place and their souls would be together after death

Well there you have it. That's what I had planned to write. Thanks for your support while I was actually writing this story years ago, and again, sorry about dropping it. Hopefully my notes are enough to satisfy anyone who was still following or waiting for an ending.
