~I've spent hours contemplating the words to say to you, but no combination of carefully placed syllables can accurately capture even a sliver of what I'm feeling.~

Alex

(1 hour before Alex calls Usagi)

Have I mentioned how much I hate my asshole of a brother?

He is the lowest level of human (if I can even call him that after what he's done) to ever walk the face of the earth. He even has the audacity to attempt justifying his actions.

"He broke my heart, so now I will desecrate his."

Damien...you make me sick, and I hope you die a slow painful death. I'll meet you in hell.

I grimaced slightly at the condition Misaki was in. It had been at least two weeks since Damien last let me tend to him. He didn't look too good at all. His skin was pale and littered with bruises and scars.

How could I have let this happen?

I took my time gently cleaning his wounds. Misaki's whimpers were breaking my heart. Many of the cuts were infected and bleeding. He probably accidentally reopened a few of them. I couldn't imagine the pain he must be in.

"Usa...Usagi-san...sa...gi.."

He was calling for Akihiko again. It broke my heart every time he did. Pure prayers that fell on deaf ears.

"Hey shh...you're okay. Just rest now alright." I try to reassure him in his semi-conscious state of mind. He relaxed ever so slightly at my touch.

I've got to get him out of here.

"You honestly baby him so much. It's seriously pointless. Why bother with him?" I hear a voice sound from behind me. A causally take a quick glance over my shoulder.

I could feel the frown forming on my lips.

Avery was standing at the door leading upstairs. I looked back at the first aid kit and got an idea. I grabbed one of the extra rolls of bandages and slipped it into my pocket without Avery noticing.

"Well, it's easier to bandage him when he is relaxed. Speaking of which I'm out of bandages. Can you or one of the other guys go grab some from the corner store?" I spoke in my usual nonchalant tone.

I had to be careful though with my exchange. If they picked up on what I was about to do then I'd be a goner. Misaki would be too.

Avery looked me over skeptically before ultimately letting out a deep sigh.

"Fine. I need a smoke anyway. Don't do anything stupid while I'm gone." Avery sent a glare my way.

"How can I? You're taking all the stupid with you." Was my response while rolling my eyes a bit. Why the fuck would I listen to this guy?

"Smartass little shit." He huffed under his breath.

As he left the room he was still eying me from where I knelt down on the floor beside Misaki.

Misaki's breathing was so weak and his pulse would fluctuate each time I checked it.

"I'm sorry that you're in so much pain Misaki. You don't deserve any of this." I whispered softly as I gently ran my hand through his hair. His soft whimpers began to calm down slowly. Small pants would escape his pale cracked lips every so often.

"Usa...Usagi...s-sorry..." Misaki's voice came out strained and raspy. He broke into an awful fit of coughs immediately afterward.

My chest clenched painfully at the sound. It sounded really bad. He needed far better care than I would be able to provide here.

Luckily I had a plan. There's no way I can sneak him all the way upstairs passed those goons of Damien's. No, I had to be smart about this.

This basement was large and spacious. It was also quite cluttered from stuff the previous owner left. I would use that to my advantage of course. I quickly took the hidden bandages from my pocket and finished wrapping Misaki's wounds.

When I finished I went into a corner where there were a ton of boxes were stacked kind of high. I slid some to the side to reveal a small crawl space. I opened the little door then hurried back to Misaki's side. As I picked him up he pushed me away and mumbled almost incoherently.

"N-no stop it. Please. I don't want to. Not again." His weak fists hitting against my chest.

"Shh, hey I'm only trying to help. I just need you to be quiet alright."

He didn't fight too much after that. He must've tired himself out.

I went back to the crawl space and gently placed Misaki inside. Luckily the small space was big enough to fit at least three people. It was time to make a call. The phone didn't even ring for half a minute.

"Hello?" A familiar voice rang out.

I was going to answer, but then I heard heavy footsteps coming from upstairs. My heart dropped when I heard Damien's yelling. I shoved the phone into my pocket before going back over to the crawl space. I quickly pushed some of the boxes back into place and squeezed into small opening quietly shutting the door behind me.

"Shit. Shit. Shit." I mumbled so softly. I was supposed to have more time. Now wasn't the time to panic though. I needed to stay calm in order to help Misaki and Akihiko. I grabbed my phone from my pocket and spoke quickly in a hushed tone.

"Hello? Is this Akihiko?" I jumped when the basement door bursts open.

"Idiot! How did you let them get away?!"

Damien... He was pissed. I couldn't let him find Misaki. No doubt he'd kill both of us if we were discovered. I had to shuffle back a bit further into our limited space. I gently pulled a whimpering Misaki into my lap hope I could calm him back down.

"U-sa...U-Usagi..." Misaki says quietly, but I shush him whispering into his ear that he had to be quiet.

"Misaki is that you?" Akihiko asked through the phone but I couldn't answer. Not with Damien down here, he'd definitely hear us.

"You two go check the block. You check the rest of the house and make sure that they aren't hiding anywhere." Damien storms back upstairs his thunder like footsteps echoed throughout the basement. Misaki let out another whimper as the basement was slammed shut.

My heart was pounding in my ears. I took a deep breath to try and calm down.

"Akihiko? Are you still there?" I ask hoping he hadn't hung up during the commotion.

"Yes, I'm still here. Who is this and where are you?"

I paused for a moment when the footsteps passed over where Misaki and I were hiding. There's no way I could sneak him out, so stay put was the best option for now.

"There isn't much time. My name is Alex. I'm with Takahashi or Misaki I mean. I'm trying to help him escape. My brother is the one who kidnapped him. His name is Damien. I'm sure that you remember him."

There was a pause on the other end of the line. I could sense Akihiko's contemplating thoughts. We didn't have time for that. I could hear more heavy footsteps and Damien barking orders to his goons.

"Hello? Hello? Akihiko now isn't the time to be spacing out. I need you to focus now...for Misaki's sake. Please..I'm not sure how much longer we can stay hidden." I was worried we'd be discovered before Akihiko was able to get here. Misaki begins to whimper again, probably from the uncomfortable position we're in. They were pretty loud in volume so I had to cover his mouth with my hand.

"Tell me what I need to do."

"Hold on a second. Shh...Misaki calms down. They'll hear us." I spoke in a gentle tone of voice. This wouldn't end well for either of them if they were caught.

I heard another yell from Damien. "Well check again! Check the basement for any sign of where they'd gone. This won't go unpunished" A chill went up through my spine at that.

"Okay, I think they're gone for now. Akihiko this is what I need you to do. Call the police and have them trace this call. Hurry. We don't have too much time left. They'll find us soon." I hear someone coming into the basement and make sure not to make too much noise. "Just meet the policeman and follow them here. I'll make sure Misaki stays safe. Tell them to send an ambulance. He's hurt really bad."

I could vaguely hear Akihiko dial 911, I recognized the loud hum of a car engine. A screech of wheels and car horns blaring. I could only pray that they'd make it here soon.

Another whimper came from Misaki. I did my best to soothe him. There was only so much I could offer at this point.

I'm so sorry Misaki. This is all my fault. I shouldn't have let this happen.

.

Please, just hold on a little while longer Misaki.
