A/N: Wow guys, I am so sorry. I started graduate school and this fic dropped to the bottom of the priority list. But since I've still gotten comments and reviews in the past year, I'm going to go ahead and try and keep going! This next chapter is definitely going to be getting into M, so please read at your own discretion.

Chapter Twelve: An Unsound Body…

Shortly after putting Maka into her bed and summoning the courage to stay with her to make sure the young Meister didn't suffer any ill effects from the wine, Soul fell asleep. He felt Maka snuggle up to him, which he secretly was hoping for. However, the effects of the gorgeous young Meister turned Weapon's body pressed upon his in combination with the wine had some…interesting effects.

"Everything feels…warm and fuzzy. Guess tiny-tits wasn't the only one who had too much wine. Cool guys shouldn't get all sappy like this! But she did look so beautiful in that dress…wonder what she's wearing underneath…She'd probably Maka-chop me for even thinking that…mmm…so warm…."

In a certain shark-toothed Weapon's dreams…

Suddenly, Soul was facing Maka, who was still wearing that beautiful black and white dress with the butterflies. He followed the scrolling pattern, as it darted from the just long enough hem, up to the subtle curvature of her hips…and to places only the cool guys got to see. He was trying to take all of her in, not sure how his Meister, who normally had a cutthroat attitude and was entirely focused on academics, could look so amazing.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, she moved in and started kissing him. Soul felt his wavelength flare again, and begin to sync up with hers. He felt a passion begin to build, spreading through him and making his entire world met away so only she was in focus.

And then the kisses began to feel too warm, and too real…and Soul Eater Evans woke up realizing he had been asleep.

But he hadn't been just dreaming…

In Maka's Room

Just as Maka pulled away from her Weapon, the abino's eyes snapped open. Half expecting a "MAKA WHAT THE HELL!", she was met with Soul's beautiful crimson eyes.

Crimson eyes with a very, very different look in them than usual.

Suddenly, Soul was kissing her again. But this time, more desperately. Almost as if he was trapped under water and she was the oxygen he so desperately needed.

It was terrifying, and extremely attractive to her at the same time.

"Maka" said Soul, breaking away, "there's something we need to talk about. Something has changed between us lately and I want to know if you feel it too."

"Oh no…he's going to say he wants to switch partners because I'm never willing to take time off to have any fun. Or that this whole double soul quota is just too much and he'd rather find a new Meister. He's gonna be just like Papa and want to find someone else!" "Yes, Soul?" she responded, timidly.

"C'mon man, cool guys don't freak out about telling a pretty girl how they feel!" thought Soul. "Maka, do you…do you like me as more than a Weapon partner?"

"…Yes. I realized I did when Ragnarok cut you and you were in the infirmary so long…Do you…like me?" she asked, hoping her pervy Death Scythe of a father wasn't using the Death mirror to spy on her again.

"Yeah. I do. I think I always have, which is super uncool of me because I didn't tell you-

MAKA-CHOP!

"Damnit Maka! Can't a guy be emotional around here without you whacking him with one of those damn books? You and that cute temper of yours!" yelled Soul, as he leaned in to kiss her again.

"Wait, Soul. We have a lot of work to do. Maybe we should put this on hold, in case it doesn't work out."

"Come with me" Soul replied, walking into their living room.

The young blonde followed as her Weapon, er Meister, walked to the portable keyboard he kept in the corner.

"Maka…when we were on the Crossroads terrace and kissed for the first time, did you feel anything weird? Like with our soul resonance?" the albino asked, sitting on the bench.

"Yeah, I guess I did. I was going to ask Professor Stein about it since I figured maybe it had something to do with both of us being hybrid Meister-Weapons. Why?"

"Did you hear a song at all?" Soul inquired, completely ignoring her question.

Maka, feeling a bit embarrassed and also annoyed that he had skirted her, replied "um…yes."

And as she replied, a gorgeous melody filled the room. It was the exact song that their resonance had produced. A beautiful, harmonious tune with very airy quality that also possessed darker, deeper tones underneath. Similar to what Soul always played in the Black Room, but more vulnerable. Like his very being was intertwined with the notes he was playing. As he turned away from the keyboard, he took Maka's hand in his.

"Maka, whatever this is. It is real. Our souls wouldn't be reacting this way otherwise. I know its not cool to be all sappy and hopelessly romantic, but I don't want one of us to die without experiencing what this resonance can be like. I don't want to lose you again."

Soul stood up, and still holding her hand, began walking down the hallway…leading her into his room.

A/N: And, done! It has been a while so picking back up is hard, but I want to keep this alive for ALL of us since the anime left a lot of unanswered questions. If I can get at least a few reviews on this chapter, I'll try to get another one up over the weekend. Thank you all so much for staying with me on this adventure!
