SEASON 9 2014

"Okay, okay I'm going there right now, Dr Brennan" I announce into my iPhone. I had offered to pick up Temperance Brennan and Seeley Booth's daughter Christine from Kindergarten but Brennan's motherly instincts had really kicked in and she was ringing me every minute to check up on her daughter. Now I know what Max Keenan must feel like when he tries to help his daughter by babysitting Christine. I speed along the main roads of Washington DC in my Toyota. I then hang up the phone and glance down at the sticky note that Brennan had given me with the Kindergarten address on it. I pull over into the street written on the note and park my car. I get out and quickly straighten my suit jacket and tighten my tie. I rub my hands together and let out a deep breath. I am a Psychologist and I spend all day discussing people's issues in my office at the FBI but I was still terrified to make conversation with a bunch of mothers outside of the Kindergarten building. I pop a breath mint into my mouth and walk through the gate.

I glance around the courtyard surrounding the Kindergarten looking at all the mothers gossiping. It was a very awkward scenario to be in if you are a twenty-eight year old Forensic Psychologist. I peep in through the large windows at the front of the building to see little Christine. She looked so adorable running around little blonde ponytails bouncing. She reminded me of her mother. I wave a small wave but Christine doesn't see me. I begin to lightly tap the window to get her attention but stop when I feel a tap on my shoulder. I whip around to see a dark haired thirty something year old woman looking at me. "Excuse me kid I wouldn't do that if I were you, the administrators at the kindergarten don't like it," she informs me. I blush a deep red and annoyance rushes over me. I don't know if it was about being caught and told off or if it was about being called a kid. I just nod at the woman tap and my foot about awkwardly "So which one's yours?" she asks pointing through the window at the children. I blush again and point to Christine "She's not mine, she's my colleagues" I tell her. "That boy is mine, Duncan's his name" she begins "I'm Cheryl Jones by the way," she continues. "Lance Sweets" I reply awkwardly. "You poor thing, I'd hate to have a surname like Sweets" Cheryl laughs. I just ignore her and turn on my phone. I type in my passcode and try my best to forget about her. I play some solitaire. It was already five minutes past the Kindergarten closing time and they were running late. I tap my foot against the ground impatiently. Come on, come on I repeat in my head. Just then I notice Cheryl looking over at me and opening her mouth. Oh God. Then I see a little girl run out of the building. Her blonde piggy tails bouncing about. It was Christine. She just stops and looks around probably searching for one of her parents. "Christine" I call out. Christine whips around and sees me. She runs up to me and jumps on me. I catch her and spin her around. "Uncle Sweets I thought that Grandpa Max was picking me up" she laughs. "Well your mommy told me to pick you up at work today, so here I am" I tell the young girl. She just hugs me "I love you uncle Sweets" she cries. I ruffle Christine's piggy tails. "We still have a good few hours before we have to get Parker from school" I say looking at my watch "Do you want me to take you to the bakery to get a snack?" I ask. Christine just nods "Of course Uncle Sweets" she replies as I put her down on the ground and grip her little hand. We begin to walk out of the gate when Cheryl looks over at me and sighs. I see Duncan having a hissy fit. I smile I was lucky Christine was such a good kid
