Frederick, more like-lOOSEN UP ASSHOLE. I think I have a minor grudge against him for mistrusting me in the beginning, but I do love him to bits. Also, it's a bitch to level him up...he does become kinda useless after a while in-game...it's a pain in my ass, but I'm still trying to level him up.

For now, I'll write this and it probably sucks because he really is hard to write.

Frederick I ~My Heart is Yours~

"My heart is yours, milady. I vow to defend you as knight and husband until death should part us."

"Are you eating bear meat?"

Poor Frederick, the Great Knight of the Shepherds, almost choked on said bear meat when the dearest tactician of the same army practically snuck up on him, even shocking herself when the Knight jumped to face her, quickly swallowing his mouthful of food. "Robin?! Gods, what are you thinking? You almost choked me to death."

Well, he sounded calm to say he could have choked to death.

"Sorry about that…I was just surprised is all. You've overcome your aversion to bear meat?"

"Yes, I suppose so. It still doesn't exactly taste wonderful, but I can tolerate it. It's thanks to you, Robin."

True enough. For the past few weeks, Frederick asked Robin for help with his strange hatred of bear meat. He wouldn't even be able to chew it for a moment without suddenly over reacting and acting like he was about to keel over and die or something…she tried pretending it was another meat, blindfolding him and even just forcing him to chew and swallow, but nothing seemed to work.

Well, Frederick always seemed confident that Robin could help. She didn't seem to care about what it was, she always ate what was given to her. Even things she didn't like…she'd grin and pretend to love it and people would be none the wiser.

No matter how many times he failed at eating it, he never stopped trying and Robin made sure to support him, seeing as he wanted to keep the hatred of this specific meat secret (it wasn't a secret. It really wasn't).

Looks like it was finally paying off, though…he wasn't even flinching when he ate the poor, deceased beast on his plate.

"I'm happy for you, Frederick. Will you be eating it more often, then?"

"Not if I can help it…I still find it disgusting…"

"Too bad. I love it."

She was a strange woman. But, everybody seemed to find that charming about her. Even as she stole one of the pieces of meat off his plate and ate it with a pleased little smile on her face, Frederick couldn't help but watch with a smile.

"If I ever have the chance, then, I'll be sure to pass mine onto you. Before we're forced to eat bear meat all the time, at least…I pray that time never comes…"

"I'm sure that's a LONG way off, Frederick." Gods, he hoped so.

"Is there anything else you needed? Or was it just the surprise that made you wander to me?"

"A bit of both. I wanted to check on you, anyway. You do look a little pale…or is that all the strange food I gave you?"

"Probably that, yes…" Robin's tactics were always odd, but they worked, at least…though, when she offered him CROCODILE he was a little suspicious if this was tactics or if she was just messing with him…

It worked, though. He was so thankful to her…

"That'll wear off soon, I'm sure."

"Yes, of course. But, Robin…there is something I have to talk to you about…"

"Oh? And here I thought I'd be asking you questions…go on, then."

"Well, there was something I promised myself I'd do once I overcame this fear of bear meat…"

A promise to himself? Frederick was a very serious man…it was rare that he would take anything light hearted. So any promise, even to himself, he'd keep. No matter how strange and no matter the circumstances. "What is it, Frederick?"

"I promised myself that, if I were to hold the meat down, I would finally do something I've never been brave enough to do…"

Frederick? Not brave enough? Oh, boy…this was gonna be fun, huh?

"I never expected you to not be brave enough to do something. You'd do anything for the Shepherds, so what would scare you so much?"

Robin was a little surprised when she thought she noticed Frederick's face turn slightly red…seeing as he looked so pale (due to bear meat), it was pretty obvious, but she seemed to shrug it off as maybe seeing things. "W-Well, yes…that is…It's more a fear of…rejection…"

"Rejection?" Yep. She was confused. Way too confused. "Now, now…nobody would reject you, Frederick."

"Are you really so sure of that? It's a silly fear…it's not exactly something that would kill me, but it still strikes fear into my heart when I think of it."

This definitely wasn't like him at all.

Frederick was a devoted man who never showed signs of any weakness, yet here he was, showing Robin that he was afraid of getting his heart broken by someones rejection.

Was this a friendship thing? A love thing? Something to do with Chrom? It was usually to do with Chrom…But Robin was wondering why he wanted to talk to her about it.

Did he need help or advice? After helping him with his phobia of certain meats, she could see why he might still seek her for help. She was discreet, so he wouldn't have to worry about being embarrassed by her hand. And she also knew her stuff, so maybe just having the tactician helping in her own way was helpful…

Just thinking about it wasn't going to help.

"Well…what exactly are you afraid of rejecting you?"

"It's…someone."

"Yes? You can tell me, Frederick."

"…Look…I said I promised myself I'd do something I wasn't brave enough to do…and it really is embarrassing…I…I promised myself I'd give you this…"

Before Robin could really question what the man was doing, he gently took her hand in his and placed a small ring in the palm of her smaller hand. "Ah? Frederick? What's this-?"

"I-I figured you'd know what it was by looking at it…"

"W-Well, it's a ring, but-" She really didn't know how to respond. It was a beautiful ring and it was a clear message that Frederick was trying to send to her. But she found herself fumbling with the pretty little ring and messing up whatever words she tried to speak. "F-Frederick, is this really-?"

"It is. After all this time with you helping me and even fighting alongside me, I can't stand the thought of our time together ending because I don't need your help…In fact, I think I'll always need your help. I'll always need you…I dreaded to think about you leaving me…"

Well, this really was a shocker. Frederick was…was he really asking her to marry him? It was quickly confirmed when he dropped down onto one knee, gently grasped her hand and looked straight into her eyes. While he said it took a lot to get the bravery to do this, Robin couldn't tell that he ever had doubts…he looked so determined. "F-Frederick-"

"I know this is very sudden…but, if I tried to wait any longer, it might have been too late…I'm not pressuring you to say yes…I'm prepared for any rejection you give me, so I really don't mind, you can say whatever you want-!"

"Frederick, you're rambling."

"O-Oh…I apologize."

She knew she shouldn't, but Robin couldn't help but roll her eyes. He'd always been like this…a man who sometimes cared a little too much about how people saw him. So, spilling his heart out wasn't easy.

Thinking about this sudden proposal, she couldn't help but blush. The Knight was a wonderful man and…maybe she had felt herself fall for him with the amount of time they'd been spending together, even if it was her trying to get him to eat strange meats to get used to them…

After his initial distrust of her, it was clear that he found her to be a charming young woman, especially since he was so willing to ask her for help (even if it wasn't exactly a nice way of asking her, seeing as he questioned her femininity).

"How long have you felt like this?"

"I'm…not quite sure…it could have been since you joined the Shepherds, it could have been just recently…But, I do know that I had to at least request your hand in courtship. These feelings haven't left me alone for weeks and I could not stand the thought of not getting to speak with you as I do now."

How sweet…

"Frederick…I don't know how, or when, but…you really have charmed me…even with your terrible gag reflex…"

"H-Hey…is this really such a time to bring up such embarrassment?"

As the giggle left her throat, Frederick was ready for her to just laugh off his proposal, but he was surprised when she took his hands into hers and smiled at him. "I-I'm just as embarrassed as you are, but…I'll definitely say yes…I'm in the same situation. I don't know when, but I really have…fallen quite hard for you. I…I tried to keep it to myself, but it looks like you forced it out of me…"

As shocked as he was, he couldn't help but smile as he stood up again, looking down at the tactician due to his towering height. "You really would accept?"

"I wouldn't lie about something like that, Frederick. I wouldn't take it lightly, either…"

Without another word, Robin was literally swept off her feet by a pleased looking Frederick. Yes, this was definitely out of character, even for him. But, anyone would let him off in this moment for the outburst.

"You have no idea how happy you've made me. My lady, I promise you won't regret your decision."

"I already know I won't, don't worry. You…You can put me down, though…"

"Ah! I-I apologize…I don't know what came over me…"

Well, she knew. And she was happy to be the one who brought out these feelings with a smile.

He might have seemed emotionless, especially during battles, but she knew better. And she had a feeling she had much more to see.
