Author's note: Already E3 hasn't even started and huge Smash bombs have dropped. I got all three of the released characters and immediately played with them, before realizing I haven't done a smash convo in quite a while. I tried my best, but even then this conversation barely turned out average. I guess everyone has an off-day. Even so, I wanted to post this to let people know this isn't dead and I am trying to continue some smash convos when I can.

So… Here we go!

Roy's Our Boy: Roy x Marth

"Don't forget about me!" A red-haired lord shouted from atop the floating platform.

Far below, the four he had come to meet all looked up in surprise. A small smile spread across his face. He had never dared to hope he'd be back on this stage. It was even more joyous to hear the call of the crowd "Roy's our boy! Roy's our boy!"

Leaping from his perch, Roy came crashing down upon Marth, Ike, Lucina and Robin. The four fire Emblem representatives had now become five. Not a few years ago, their franchise seemed doomed to the obscurity of others. Captain Falcon, despite his popularity, was now from a nearly defunct series. Ness and Lucas, who were standing strong now that Lucas was back, were from a franchise that had finished. And yet, smash had brought them together once again.

Robin and Ike were quickly defeated. Neither of them had fought him before. They had heard of him, naturally, but he had changed and improved since his melee days. All in anticipation of this.

Lucina was next. Her similar style to Marth's was a bit more difficult for him to overcome. Well, it was an emulation of the Hero King of Legend.

He and Marth clashed once again. Strangely, the young man could see a small smile playing across the Hero King's Face. "You know I've been hoping to fight you again."

"Oh?" Roy mused. "And why is that?"

"Some people say you're a better fighter than me." Marth chuckled. "Your burning blade certainly is as interesting as ever. But it's no match for Falchion."

"We'll see." Roy grinned. "That's what Smash is all about, right?"

"True enough." Marth said, as the two pulled back. "Come."

Roy polished his blade in the waiting room. It had been a long time since he needed to do that. He had often visited the smash arena with Mewtwo when they had been dropped in brawl and he had given up getting back in when Lucina showed up for the newest game. Yet, here he was.

Marth entered the room once more, bowing ever so slightly in Roy's direction. "Good afternoon."

"Hey." Roy replied. "Thanks for the fight before."

"Happy to oblige." Marth said. "It was most interesting to see you return."

"Yeah yeah." Roy said waving a hand. "I know all the complaints. My sword style is pretty close to yours so why are there three fighters using the hero king's style, Roy's game wasn't particularly interesting, Roy himself is pretty bland compared to Marth and Lucina, how many sword users do we need, yada yada."

"Yet everyone who enjoyed your appearance in melee begged for your return." Marth said with a shrug. "Perhaps Smash is simply its own experience?"

"Yeah but wouldn't you rather see some more variation from our world?" Roy asked. "Like, you've got Lady Tiki, there's Lyn, there's pegasus riders, magic users… There's a lot to us that's more than swords."

"Most of the time Lords are sword users." Marth said. "The lords are generally the most recognizable face from our games."

"well, think we'll see that Aqua girl in the next smash then?" Roy asked with a wry grin.

"It wouldn't surprise me." Marth agreed. "Though I thought she was called Azure?"

"Was she?" Roy asked. "Well, whatever. I'm just glad to be back. I'm gonna get back in there."

"Have fun." Marth said cheerfully.

"Boom!" Roy shouted excitedly, as his sword unleashed a blast of fire. Marth took the blow, flying back and barely dolphin slashing his way back onto the platform. Roy rushed forward, swiping at the Hero King, who countered him just in time.

This left Roy careening off the stage instead, and he just barely grabbed onto the edge himself. It was at times like these he wished he had some sort of range with his grab, like Samus' gun thingie or Lucas' rope snake. Clambering up, Roy raised his blade once more.

"Time to tip the scales!" Two voices shouted in unison. Just in time, both Roy and Marth leapt back as pillars of flame erupted where the two had been standing.

Male and Female Robin landed on the stage, both holding their spell book aloft and carrying Levin Swords. "An unfortunate interruption." Marth mused. "What should we do?"

"Isn't it obvious?" Roy said, grinning happily as he raised his blade. "We take care of the interlopers and get back to it!"

"Very well." Marth chuckled. "A team up it is."

Falchion shone brightly as it positioned itself, and Roy raised the Binding Blade to the sky so it briefly caught the sun's light. The fans had come through for him. Because of that, he would not disappoint them.

"Come then." Marth said to the two Robin's. "Let us see how our newer companions fare against us."

"A pleasure." Roy grinned. "After this, I've gotta get in the ring with Mewtwo. Or maybe Ryu? Oh, and I definitely wanted a chance to fight Ike. Our fire abilities should match each other pretty well, don't you think?"

"I think you should focus on the battle at hand." Marth said. "Then worry about your next opponent."

"Ah, right. Sorry." Roy said, though his bright grin remained. "I'm just way too excited."

"Understandable." Marth said. "Tell you what. When they finish getting the tournament arena set-up, I'll invite all of the foes you want to fight into one big tournament."

"So… everyone?" Roy asked cheekily.

"Precisely." Marth returned.

"Sounds like one heck of a good plan." Roy said. "Then let's do it!"

The crowd, excited at the change in the battle, began to chant once more. "Roy's our boy! Roy's our boy! Roy's our boy!"
