Tristan knew that when they were at school they acted like nothing was going on between them. There was a small handful of people who knew- mostly just Frankie and Winston, both of whom seemed to always be watching when they were together- but for the most part no one thought anything of it. They had been friends all year, and it's not like anything noticeably odd was happening between them.

"Tell me you don't just want to go there because he's into Maya," Tristan said to Zoe as they stood at his locker. There was an odd dynamic between Zig and Zoe that he couldn't quite put his finger on, but it almost seemed hopeful. He lit up as Miles approached behind her, but she seemed to think that he was just genuinely excited for her.

"Oh please, he'll be over her in two seconds. Why wait on her when he can have moi right now?" Zoe said. Tristan closed his locker and tried not to sigh at his friend.

"They've been unresolved since Maya's first love triangle. Believe me, you and Miles were not her first."

"Hey, Tris," Miles said, adding a "Zoe," in politeness as an afterthought.

"Hi, Miles."

"We're still on for later, right?" he grinned at Tristan, the kind of smile that made his heart flutter. There seemed to be a lot more of those these days.

"Of course."

"Great. I'll see you later." Miles leaned forward and kissed Tristan swiftly, just a short kiss in farewell before he left. Zoe's jaw looked like it would have hit the floor if she could drop it any more. She looked frantically around the hallway for some back up, a second eye witness or something. No one else seemed to have caught on to the two seconds that the boys had their lips on one another.

"Did that just happen?!" she exclaimed.

"Did what happen?" Tristan asked, arching an eyebrow at her.

"We're just going to pretend like Miles always kisses you?" he felt himself smiling uncontrollably, and Zoe didn't miss it. "Oh my god." She linked her arm with Tristan's as they began to walk together, shaking her head as she went. "I don't even want to know what I missed."
