Chapter 48: Epilogue

The life I once knew went on even with me locked up far away from the rest of the world. In fact while I was finding out news of Rebecca's recovery that same morning Sullivan had woken up early too on. He was having troubles of getting back to sleep since thoughts of me where pondering around his head. So there was little chance of Sullivan sleeping for the rest of the morning even know he desperately needed it.

Being the CEO of a massive company was hard, he was even beginning to miss his days of being a scarer. Back in the day it was him who was on top of the leader board. But now it was his best friend being the top monster of the leader board, but this time as a comedian. Still he was happy for his friend's success, it had been his dream to be the number one scarer but now things are different. But that didn't stop him from bragging about it all day. While his friend was in a deep sleep nearby in his own room Sullivan tip toe his way to the living room and then across to the kitchen. He planned to make himself a drink before making himself breakfast. As he poured out his drink he returned back to his thoughts.

'Should Randall apologise to Boo?' He thought to himself with his new idea. 'Well why not… He did kidnap her, the least he could do is say sorry. I mean I'm not asking a lot because I did let him off by not pressing changers against him.' Sullivan thought again. While drinking the bitter sweet lemonade he had poured out for himself, Sullivan realised his plan might not be an easy thing to do if I didn't agree to it. He began to think I could take it the wrong way ending the new found friendship I and Sullivan had slowly created days after the MI scandal, but of course being in the same room with him now was still awkward but getting better nerveless compared to before.

Fully understanding that for now Sullivan would put the Boo apology on hold. 'I think it would be best to wait for Randall to settle down in prison first before telling him. Hopefully Rebecca would help push Randall to apologise to Boo.' Sullivan signed as he sat down on a chair next to the table, his posture in a relaxed state as usual. But now he started to have thoughts if Rebecca wouldn't be able to change my mind, it's not like I would be willing to do so at first. This placed doubts on Sullivan's mind.

"I hope she will be able to change his mind…" Sullivan whispered to himself before he could hear noises of his roommate nearby. Mike Wazowski yawed as he made his to the table Sullivan sat next too. "How comes you're up so early?" he said in a sleepy tone of voice. "I couldn't sleep…" Sullivan explained. "Is it because of Randall?" Wazowski asked as he sat next to his best friend. "You guessed right. I want him to apologise to Boo but I'm not sure how he'll take the idea of it."

"Badly I guess." Sullivan signed again this time at Wazowski's reply. "Thanks Mike. That's made me feel so much better…" Sullivan said sarcastically. "What? Did you want me to lie and say the whole thing is a great idea?" Sullivan looked annoyed now as he got up from his chair as he went to make himself some breakfast. "Look Randall still changing but he hasn't fully changed to the way he used to be back at MU. Give him time. Remember we still don't know if Rebecca going to make it through her coma." Sullivan stop standing still, the last sentence made him think there was a possibility Rebecca could die.

"I guess you're right, I'd totally forgot there's a chance she might not survive. I'll leave it until we know if Rebecca does make it… or not. But changing the subject to a less depressing one do you mind if I ask you something?" Sullivan asked. His best friend nodded and Sullivan carried on with what he wanted to say. "Don't you find it weird how Randall just left the hospital like that? Why didn't he wait for us before turning himself in?"

"I guess he wanted to do it all by himself. So the police would take him seriously that it really was his idea to turn himself in, not us. Besides he might not have been thinking straight at the time and wanted to get out of the building as fast as possible instead of having to wait for us, only delaying the inevitability... Oh by the way I have something to show you!" Wazowski explained as he got up and went back to his bedroom.

"Where are you off too then?"

"Stay right where you are! I want to show you something, something I've been working on ever since Boo left our part of the world. Wait for it… tan duh!" Wazowski was holding thirty or more pages in his hands of what appears to be some sort of manuscript. "I have just finished our company play! What do you think?" The manuscript hit the table with a loud thud which could be heard throughout the apartment. "The company play?" Sullivan asked still dumbfounded as he started reading the thirty or so documents that laid on the table.

"Mike I thought the company play was just a distraction to avoid us getting into trouble…" Sullivan said as he began to read who was casted in the play while Wazowski explained in more detail how the play came about. "Well at first it was but then after the events we both went through I thought it would be a great idea to turn it into a play!" Wazowski said with much excitement as he began to jump up and down next to the table.

"Needleman plays as Randall!? Don't you think you should have asked Randall's permission first just in case he might not be OK with this?" Sullivan said as he placed the bench of papers on the table. "Randall not going to know if he's in prison and besides it's based on a true story, facts are facts." Sullivan signed before counting on to make his breakfast.

A few minutes' later Wazowski manuscript was put away and the two monsters had breakfast together while they watched TV. "We can finally relax and not worry about anyone anymore. Waternoose has been sentenced and put away for a long time, Randall turning over a new leaf and we've proven yet again we can take on anyone who wants the company for themselves. Where unstoppable!" Wazowski shouted full of joy. "I'm not sure about the last part Mike…"

Sullivan said with a smile on his face. "What? Look what happened to Silva. He's locked away because of us!" Yet again Wazowski ego was clouding his memory. "Randall got him locked away Mike… Besides from the looks of him I doubt we won't have any problems with him once his released, but that only leaves Waternoose still and possibly Silva's friends who tried to help him take over the company too..." Wazowski nodded but not fully taking in his friends warning as he changed the topic once more, his ego getting to him again. "So what do you want to do today buddy?" Wazowski asked in his happy tone of voice.

"What to go to the cinema tonight?" Sullivan asked already knowing what film he wanted to watch.

"Yeah! Sounds great… Can I bring you know who?" Wazowski already hinting if his girlfriend could come along as well. "Of course." Sullivan said with a smile as they continued to watch TV together while eating their breakfast. For them today was going to be a carefree day and a problem free one too.

Meanwhile on the other side of the city a four eyed monster looked at an apartment elevator with fear. He didn't feel like climbing five flights of stairs just to get to Alexander's apartment but that was the only option then facing the elevator. His father after hearing what had happened of the night Nathan had broken his arm said he should start facing his fears when he had the chance to which Nathan agreed with. But this wasn't the main reason he had been staring at this elevator for quite so time.

The main reason for Nathan to be wasting so much time near an elevator was to try and visit Alexander so he could finally apologise for his rude behaviour and for his actions he had committed involving his co-worker. But there was another reason for the visit as well. However that was only going to happen if he could face his fear. "Breath in breath out… You can do this." He whispered to himself as he walked over to the dirty sliver elevator and pressed the button that lit green from Nathan's touch. The elevator doors opened which made Nathan jump a little, annoyed at himself and the metal box he grumbled and step inside.

"Right… Now Raymond said he lived on the fifth floor. So if I press this button with the number five on it then I should be taken to… the fifth floor." Yes one of the best police officers in the city has never used an elevator on his own before, well he used one once but that ride didn't last very long. Ever since his first experience of going inside one, if he were just to see one from a distance he would just run away in fear.

That's what he did as a child anyway. The elevator moved on upwards with a loud clang making Nathan's stomach turn. "Come on! Hurry up… You stupid metal box which will probably become my tomb." It wasn't long before his wish came true as he reached the fifth floor. The chime sounded and the doors opened. Nathan rushed out of the elevator as quick as he could.

"Good. Now… Alexander's apartment is on the left hand side at the far end so it shouldn't be difficult to find..." he said only to himself. Walking slowly Nathan was trying to remove all the fear he had just went through a few seconds ago, he had to make sure no one would see him like a sacred little monster he used to be no matter what. Feeling ready the red and yellow spotted monster knocked on the light green coloured door and waited it for open. A loud noise sounded past the door, something or someone had fallen over the noise of his knocking.

After a few seconds the door open and the furry navy coloured monster appeared. "Hey there fur ball! Mind if I come in?" Nathan asked as Alexander who was a little sacred of the request. 'Did he know what really happened?' The furry monster thought to himself, believing he needed to reply quickly he replied back. "Yeah… Umm come in…" Nathan now back to his normal levels of calm walked past Alexander making sure he didn't bump his white arm cast into anything.

"What begins you too my slice of paradise then?" Nathan rubbed his neck while he got ready to say what he was on his mind. "I wanted to talk about… your future." Alexander was panicking at this point. "Nathan I can explain!" The red and yellow dotted monster looked confused. "Explain? What do you already know? To be honest I was hoping to tell you myself, the good news that is…"

"Wait… good news?" Alexander said in confuses.

"Yeah. You know already then?" The red and yellow spotted monster asked with a happy smile on his face.

"Well… No."

"Oh well I'll tell you then... My squad car's being fixed up at the moment and since I'm not the best driver in the world… I would for you to be my partner. The department told me you were the best out of the four teams in the driving tests and since you start this week on the beat why not let it be me who has the honour to work with you. Besides you need someone good looking out for you." Alexander's jaw dropped while Nathan smiled knowing he would say yes. "I'm speechless! I don't know what to say?" Nathan chucked before saying. "Say yes fur ball! It's an opportunity of a life time… I promise you won't regret it."

Alexander rub his chin with one figure as he began to decide wherever or not he should take the offer, for all he knew this whole thing could be a trap or a prank. "You want something to drink?" Nathan nodded in reply. "I would love to have some cola right now. I didn't have anything to drink since I woke up today." Alexander grinned as he made his way to the kitchen of the apartment. The blue monster grabbed a glass as he opened a bottle of cola while Nathan made himself feel at home by sitting at the coach, amazed of how clean the place was. Most monsters he knew who were like Alexander always had messy bedrooms or homes.

"I see you keep things tidy around here." He complemented the fur ball, which was a first.

"You're joking right? This place is a mess…" Alexander said in an embarrassed tone of voice.

"Oh no… Tell me you're not one of those monsters who believe every germ is out to get them right?" Alexander finally came back with the glass of cola in his hand which he gave to his guest. "No! I just like things the way it should be… for me at least." Nathan chuckled once me as he took a sip of his drink. "I've decided to be your partner, just as long you don't bully me." Alexander stated as he rub his hands together a little nervous almost that his guest would take his request the wrong way.

"Oh no you don't have to worry about that. I'm becoming better monster now or at least I'll try to be. Guess you can always use your night stick against me when I ever do upset you." He smiled again while licking his lips from the taste of the ever so sweet cola still lingering in his mouth. "Don't give me any ideas now." Alexander chucked as he sat down next to his new friend. "So now that we've agreed to work with each other. What was the thing you wanted to talk about or should I say you explain?" Alexander eyes became wide again.

"What thing?" Alexander trying to shrug off his mistake of almost admitting his little cover-up of my escape.

"The thing you were getting so nervous about…?" His smiled had disappeared now along with the taste of cola in his mouth.

"Oh it's nothing. Don't worry about it." He tried to shrug it off once more but his new friend wasn't having it.

"Come on you can tell me… buddy." Nathan knew he was onto something but he didn't know what, and he was sure as hell going to find out soon. Alex was hiding something and one thing he didn't want to have in their new friendship was secrets, possibly of each other.

"Why did you have to make that sound so forced?" The fur ball whined. "Hey I'm just getting use to the fact the monster I picked on for years is now my partner. Now tell me what this thing about me then?" Nathan's four eyes aimed at Alexander's own which made him feel uneasy, he started to sweat which made his fur wet too, it was like being picked on all over again. Taking a deep breath and preparing for the worst Alexander felt ready what he had to say.

"You might want to sit down first. I'm sure you're not going to like it." Still filled with excitement the four eyed monster sat next to his new friend, still keeping eye contact at the same time while his left arm hang over the backside of the sofa. "Come on! What's it about?" He pestered, he just had to know what Alexander was keeping from him. "You remember the night Boggs escaped?" Nathan's smiled disappeared again.

"Yeah…" He replied in a more serious tone, not wanting to remember the horrible events of that night. "Well… Do you remember I said Boggs had been misbehaving in the holding cells which prevented me from doing any work?" He nodded without making a sound. "I lied. It was a trap for you to get caught in. I knew you would try to beat him up or something along those lines so it didn't involve much work on my part. Just had to come up with something you and Helena would believe."

Nathan's mouth fletched for a second before his hands started shaking. "How… How could you even do that to me Alex?" His voice showing the signs of anger and shock before Alexander continued on. "Too get back at you for all the bullying you did to me. Also... Boggs told me what was going down at Monsters Incorporated which as we know happened to be truth so I thought-"

"To release him by switching places with me so I get beaten up instead!" Nathan stood up in anger before saying. "You helped a fugitive! I should just arrest you now before you say anything else…" The ferry monster eyes widen with fear, he's mouth opened wanting to speak but he couldn't, he was too scared. Without warning his wrist were grabbed by the four eye monster who was ready to shackle the speechless monster. "Alexander Reed I'm arresting you for helping a fugitive escape police custody..."

"No please let me explain!" He cried.

"What difference will it make if you don't do it at the station?" Came the reply as he let go of Alexander's arm. "So you can hear me out before deciding my fate…" He begged once more.

The room fell silent before Nathan finally decided what he wanted to do. "Fine! Tell what you did that night. If I'm in a good mood at the end of it I might let you go, but I don't want to be your partner let alone have to see your face again." With a sense of relief in his doomed position Alexander was ready to explain his motives at the time. Nathan got ready as well by grabbing himself a chair from the kitchen area of the apartment, no way would he sit next to someone who pretty much throw out his successful career just because he believed someone who was a prime suspect in a case was right all along. Sitting himself down he waited for Alexander to begin.

"Start talking." He commanded in a furious tone of voice.

"Randall told me everything what was going to happen to Monsters Incorporated if I didn't let him go. At first it sounded something out of a movie but he then he got me thinking it could be true. With me believing him he then asked me to let him go. At first I was like no I can't do that. I told him I would lose everything if I did! So he suggested I get someone else to replace my position as the jailer, I thought of you right away." Nathan tried his best as he could to keep his rising emotions down as much as possible but it was becoming a struggle for him.

"Go on." Alexander took a sip from his own drink before continuing on with his story. "I didn't think you would really go down to the holding cells. If it wasn't for Helena then I doubt you would of anyway. But since you did then I guess it was your own fault for getting yourself into that mess. If you didn't try to beat Boggs up within an each of his life then you could have avoid what happened to you." The four eyed monster shook his head in disbelieve. "That's doesn't excuse your behaviour." He replied in disgust.

"But yours does?"

"That's different!"

"How so? You bullied me and I'll never forget it. You never once got disciplined for it and you'll never will because of your father. You terrorized my life on a daily basis because you knew you could and I hated you for it, but unlike you I didn't show it. You got the best of me and look who's laughing now. You are! I'm the one who could be facing time while you're awarded for arresting me!" Alexander pointed out while Nathan signed, his facial expression now saddened as he realised he was partly to blame that night. "I guess… I have been unfair to you. Honestly I thought you didn't care…"

"Of course I cared! I took it to heart what you did and said to me. But I thought if I never showed it then you would have some respect for me. Guess I was wrong, you never stopped and I became worse off. That's… That's all I have to say." Covering his eyes with his hands Nathan didn't know what to say let along decide what to do with him. "What to do what to… What to do." He said quietly to himself while wondering about in Alexander's apartment. "Aren't you going to arrest me?" Alexander muttered, still looking down at his own feet. "No… I don't think I will. Since Boggs turned himself in I'm sure I can turn a blind eye to what you have told me. Besides everyone would… Miss you." Alexander's eyes widened.

"Really! You're not going to arrest me?" Nathan nodded in reply. "I myself will punish you still. But that's going to be between you and me. Understood?" Alexander nodded but raised his figure slightly. "What is going to be my punishment?" A smile appeared on the red monster's face. "I'm going to make you lose weight." A sense of relief overcame the furry monster as that didn't sound too bad. "Well I'll be ready for it." He replied back. "No you won't. You'll hate every bit of it. But that's what you're going to have to put up with if you want to be my brother."

"That's really sweet. Thank you…" Alexander said feeling warm from the rebuilt friendship the two seemed to have fixed in less than five minutes.

"Enough I feel sick to my stomach already." He joked before he added. "So would you like to go out and grab a bite to eat?" Alexander nodded with a large smile. "If that's OK with you partner?" Nathan smiled too before both of them made their way towards the door, both of them already talking about a different topic at hand. Well that was till Nathan tried walking down the stairs.

"Hey why aren't you taking the elevator?" It took less than a three seconds for Nathan to reply. "To force you to lose weight tubs. Now get to it!" He sort of joked while Alexander sighed, believing this would be the start of his punishment. Fitness training. Nerveless it would be the start of a long but eventful friendship the two would have for decades to come.

"I'm sorry for what I did to you over the years…"

"I'm sorry too. But all drinks are on me for tonight."

"Thanks fur ball..."

In one of the room's main city's hospital the sound of the life support machine beep away while Rebecca peacefully look upon my newly released mugshot. "You miss him don't you? Worried too by the looks of things. I'm sure he's fine, prison not that bad after all. He just needs to find a hobby and stay out of trouble, then the time just fly's on by." Yang explained which comforted her a little. "I know I'm worrying over nothing but still… Anything could happen to him." Yang sat closer to Rebecca hoping to ease her mind and maybe try to get hug as well, he always missed hugging his ex.

"You want me to visit him?" He asked brushing her skin. "Only if you want too. Just to see how he's doing. But I'm sure Sullivan will try as well along with his friend Mike." She smiled a little.

"If that will make you feel better knowing how he's doing I shall. But you mustn't keep on worrying. You need to focus on yourself and start applying for the job you want… unless you have changed your mind." Yang hopefully asked. "I haven't change my mind Yang." Her answer made the dragon like monster signed. "I don't have anything against you joining the police but… You're better off still working at the Plaza. I'm sure the money is better and overall less demanding." Rebecca who had crossed her arms by now gave Yang the famous closed eye star she use to give him.

"So what's wrong with me looking for a new challenge?" Rebecca feeling offended by Yang.

"Nothing I just want what's best for you…"

"So what you're saying is I can't take care for myself?"

"Not when you've just recovered from a coma. Look just recover first and then decide what you want to do career wise later, OK?"

"Fine. But I'll doubt I will change once I'm out of this bed."

"Well see…" He said to himself.

But it was clear what she wanted to do in life. Once her heart had set on a new goal Rebecca would do anything in her power to accomplish it, no one was going to stop her no matter what. A small smile appeared while Yang still had her arm around his own, he noticed it straight away. "What are you smiling about?" He asked suspiciously while Rebecca made no attempt to hide it. "I'm just happy to be with you my scaly dragon." Yang wasn't buying her lies. He now crossed his arm wondering for a moment if it had something to do with the previous topic they were talking about just a second ago.

"Really…?"

"Yes really. Would I lie to you?" She smiled even more this time.

"It wouldn't be the first time…" Yang muttered under his breath, hoping she didn't hear his remarks of her.

"Sorry I didn't hear what you just said-"

"Oh it was nothing." Yang made clear know Rebecca knew he was now lying. Nerveless Yang was happy for her and knowing I, the great Randall Boggs was going to be her next partner made him feel worry free. All he had to do was nurse her back onto her own two feet and let her take the path she wanted to walk on.

Yet Rebecca's unexpected career change put off Yang for some reason. He knew this was just Rebecca's way of dealing with the recent events, trying to prove she would be able to defend herself if she was in harm's way again. But Yang believed this wasn't the answer to her problems but for now he was just going to leave the issue to rest. The two talked more as till the late afternoon when Yang had to finally leave, both leaving on good terms again and happy for each other.

Rex was enjoying his Saturday afternoon with his toys all around him. He had almost forget about his dear old uncle being imprisoned but seeing my face in the newspaper or on the television reminded him of the current saturation. It would make him sad hearing what other monsters said about him but his father would always comfit him when he was feeling low. However today was turning out to be a good day for him. "Pew… Pew… Pew!" Rex said as he perfectly mimicking the sound of a gun.

He used one of his hands as a make believe gun while he pointed at the most evil looking toy he had displayed nearby. "Die!" He shouted before he giggled to himself, enjoying his own fantasy world he was in. "Oh Rex! I have some news for you." Rex's antenna's raised immediately, it took him less than a second for him to reply. "I'm coming!" The young monster rushed to the stairs on all fours excited to hopefully hear some good news, his father was already waiting for him in the main room. "What is it dad?" He asked in an over excited voice, his eyes making the monster cuter then he already was if possible. "How do you feel visiting a certain someone this week?" The kid already know who he was talking about.

"Yay!" Rex said jumping around the room, the mother and father smiling with each other. "Isn't Rex so sweet when he's happy?" She chuckled with him. "He sure is… Hey I've been meaning to ask but do you know if the press or any of the TV news crews are still outside watching us?" Up to the events of the MI scandal and of my return, my brother and his family had been overwhelmed by the media at their doorstep, wanting to know more of the infamous Randall Boggs and if they knew of my evil intentions before the scandal came to light. It had put a lot of unwanted stress for the family and with no longer living relatives Rex and my brother were trapped in their own home unable to leave without being hassled by a mob full of cameras and never-ending questions.

"It seems to have died down now. Why what were you thinking?" She asked with much curiosity while her husband was ready to tell her of his plan. "I was thinking it would be nice and refreshing to have a long walk in the park. How's that sound Rex?" Rex maybe for the second or third time jumped in the air again with a large smile on his face. "Yay! We're going outside!" He said out loud. "I'll guess I'll get my things then. I won't be long." She left the room leaving just Rex and his farther in the room alone. "No rush. Take your time." He shouted know she was probably upstairs by the time he spoke. "So Rex while we both wait… Rex?" The little guy was nowhere to be seen. "Rex I know your hiding from me. I will find you." He said in a playfully tone.

He thought he could hear a light giggle coming from one of the orange suitcases nearby, ready to be used when the family went on holiday sometime soon, Rex of course picked the colour. "I know your hiding somewhere in this room Rex. I can hear you." The silent giggling could be heard again and it confirmed Rex was indeed hiding nearby his suitcase, in fact from what his father could tell he was leaning against it, using it to keep himself hidden. His body was almost invisible but still noticeable. "I've find you!" He said as he grabbed hold of Rex, no matter how many times Rex struggled he couldn't break free from his father grip around his body. "Put me down, put me down…" He begged while in a full state of his giggling fit. "Trickles huh?" He chuckled at the state of his son. "You win, you win!"

"And what are you doing to Rex?" She asked seeing her husband trickling their only son now laying on the sofa.

"Playing. As you can see I won." He smiled back to his wife. "Well I'm ready to have our walk in the park now. Are you two ready?" Rex finally free from his father's grasp stood up for shouted out loud. "Yeah!" The father nodded too. "Let's go then." For the family it looks everything was turning to normal again, and I wouldn't have it any other way. "I love you daddy and mummy." Rex said as he held hands with his mother and father. "We love you too son." No other way indeed.

Finally

The End

This epilogue was long needed sometime ago but sadly I had many issues to contend with and other projects looking forward to start and finish. But now I can say I have fully completed my first story on this site. It's finally official and a good reason why everyone should complete their story first before publication, otherwise you'll never end up completing it, look at me for example just for the last chapter.

I did have plans for a second story after the events of BTS but I don't know when it will be finished. I already made fifteen (badly) written chapters (first drafts) for the BTS sequel but this comes with a problem. The reason why I can't move onto the sequel right away is at this time I've sort of moved onto another fandom and I plan to write a story for that fandom when I have more spare time. So unless I change my mind it might be a while before I finally go back to writing for the BTS sequel if not at all, unless I get an overwhelming fan support then I'll make sure to make a good start on it.

But before I finally stop typing for the last time may I say thank you for all the readers and supporters of this story. Thank you to all those that messaged me for a sequel and those that corrected any mistakes I had printed in this publication. You've all been wonderful! Especially to AutumnnPrincess, Bovine Beauty and user (I'm Sleeping with the Fishes), thank you and I hope to see you all again, hopefully some new users next time.
