A/N: the past

Harry studied the files he had stolen from Downing street. The Augments were a dangerous threat to the Muggles alone. For now, Hermione had said.

The Muggles had captured Harry with the help of a muggleborn witch. He had forgiven her. But not the Muggles. They wanted him and his people to fight their war for them.

He looked away from the files and sighed as he thought back on it.

Harry hadn't needed his wand to escape. Anti-apparition jinxes were up but he could see the shatterpoints in the items restraining him. A few minutes of twisting his arm and it was free then he undid the rest.

A minute of studying the lock and he used two pieces of metal from the restraints to pick the lock. "Never thought shatterpoints could be used so benignly," he muttered to himself. "I need to refine this. And apologize to Trelawney's ghost about divination." That's what the Shatterpoint skill was: divination that studied the short and long term, finding ways to shatter the points that led to undesirable futures.

A muggle with a gun confronted him. He apparated behind him when he realized the jinx only covered the room and slammed the two pieces of metal into the soldier's neck then stole the gun.

"Passwords," he said, looking in the man's eyes as he died. "Where's. My. Wand?"

He turned. His property was in a small room.

Dressed and properly armed, Harry Potter closed his eyes.

He reached out with the Splinter of his Mind's Eye, studying the shatterpoints in the facility he was in.

Escaping was easy. Making sure the Muggles never tried something like this again was necessary. Controlling the Prime Minister could do it but using the Imperius was a slippery slope. He ignored that shatterpoint.

He studied the next. Deaths beyond measure. Every line on that would just have him replace Singh as a despot in a decade.

Hermione. He studied that shatterpoint. The Exodus Project? She had mentioned it but not expanded on it. Just that it was of great potential to better magekind.

He continued on, shaking the mental image of Fleur—who still looked as she did at thirty as she approached sixty-five—and Hermione who looked mid forties still, sitting at a breakfast table, wearing very little as they expected him home soon.

There. The electronics weren't hardened against magic. And they used the new Cortana server as a host system for their security. Foolish. Cortana was a technomage project to spy on muggles and protect the Masquerade better.

His eyes opened. There were six shatterpoints he had to hit.

Harry appeared in the server room. A hologram appeared. "Unauthorized access."

"Harry Potter Synthesized Verticality override."

The hologram shivered and turned emerald from azure.

"Authentication verified, welcome to Site Dragone Nine, sir. This is an M-5 Secure Debriefing center. How may I be of service?"

"This site has been compromised by enemy agents. I have been sent in to eliminate the threats. You are to deactivate all external links but simulate connections."

A screen nearby came on and a file opened. Harry studied the protocol and said, "Yes, protocol forty-three."

"Understood."

That shatterpoint exploited, he went on to the next one, transfiguring water into the strongest acid he could then transfigured the glass he had used into ceramic. It would eat through it in the right amount of time.

The backup power shatterpoint ready to break, he did the same to the primary.

He broke his way through into the foundation and began casting borderline dark spells on the termites within. Shatterpoint four exploited.

~•~

He stood among nine bodies. Wrapping his emotions deeply, he cracked their skulls open and began writing his reply to their attempt to use him as a weapon on the last standing wall.

A final spell to kill the termites then he apparated away.

Auror Whitelash smiled at her boss. "You're later than we expected, sir. Tea? Coffee?"

"Get the Minister, Shacklebolt, and my response team and send an owl to Hermione I'm gonna be late."

He turned away then turned back, smiling to counter the curt way he had just spoken to her. "And tea sounds lovely and you're starting to show!"

She smiled. "Yep! I had to buy a new wardrobe. Thsnk you for the baby clothes!"

Done showering and cleaning up, Harry found Victoire, Ron, George, his Auror bodyguards, and his son Hal sitting in the room. His response team and his guards. The Minister came in a moment later then Shacklebolt arrived.

"Sorry, I was in Jamaica. Lovely fishing there. What's up?" he said as he sat.

Harry placed his memory into the table's projectitall charm.

Hal exploded in anger and Harry raised an eyebrow. "Calm yourself kiddo. You're acting like your godfather."

Ron rolled his eyes at the dig.

"Your thoughts?" The Minister asked as Hal stewed, stopping his Veela nature from coming to the fore. Black feathers were beginning to crown from his skin as he tried to breathe the anger away.

"Singh is a threat to all muggleborns. If he can Augment just one, we'll have another Dark Lord allied with a new Hitler."

"Is this visible in a Shatterpoint?" Kingsley asked.

Harry nodded.

"So it's a potential future?" The Minister asked. "That's how Shatterpoints work, right? I wish you'd let the Department study the ability."

"Not futures. Think of shatterpoints as Amidakuji." He explained the japanese decision making lottery with a lines drawn in the air. "The Shatterpoints are where I can make the horizontal line swing to a different vertical line so I get the outcome I want. But it's never long term. I've yet to be able to influence something farther out than a month but long term prospects are visible. I just can't see the shatterpoints to influence those futures. Think of the lines being much longer and I can't see all the horizontals past a couple months.

"During my earliest study, I was testing it on random muggles while I had tea, just seeing if I could see their drink choices, perhaps influence them to try a new tea with just a word. I saw a woman's life end that day. I followed her and saw her walk in on her husband with her sister. She took a bottle of pills that night. I got her to a hospital in time.

"She committed suicide again a week later.

"What would have happened if I had talked with her a bit, stopping her from getting home too soon?"

There were nods.

"But she sounded suicidal period?" one of his guards asked.

"I saw five futures for her. All ended in death in less than a month. Why I let myself intervene. Because if I could change it…." He shook his head. "Anyway, why I stopped studying human shatterpoints at that time."

"Okay, so Singh. What do we do?"

"Kill him," George said.

Harry nodded. "And all Augments. My Blackguard are the best trained Hitwizards." Former Aurors with extensive training for dealing with Dark Wizards too dangerous to catch and the corps of his bodyguards. "But I want to talk to the scientists behind the Augments. Three are still alive. We need to find them."

Prime Minister Tolliver entered her office only to come to a worried stop when she saw the man sitting at her desk.

"Sit," he said. "Your Security belongs to me, there's no need to yell for help."

When she didn't move, his soft voice deepened. "Sit!"

She did as told and he leaned forward into the light, revealing himself.

"I am Harry Potter. The Minister for Magic told you of me." She nodded, now more worried. "Good. I was kidnapped by members of MI-5. My revenge on them and their superiors is complete. But the reason they wanted to Suborn me is a worthy target. I need the last three living Augment scientists. Tell me where they are. I can protect them better."

~•~ the scientists are able to help harry's team in creating magical augments by explaining augment capabilities and Mages are able to create augment potions capable of instilling those superior capabilities in mages without the superior ambition because they were devoted followers of Harry's ideals ~•~

Harry studied the chalkboards with every named Augment save one board struck through. He had lost two of his Blackguard Aurors to Singh or his men. And they were hamstrung by the Muggle government's requirement of live capture of these ones. For trials.

Harry sighed. He was old. Perhaps too old to take the potions, even if he perpetually looked seventeen.

He turned to a waiting refrigerator. Inside, he found the small chest. The last of the Magnify Potions. Seven glowing potions in each color of the rainbow, each in a glass ampoule inside a black suspension liquid in a hypospray.

He crushed it in his hand and the fluids flashed brightly then mixed together. A deep breath then he injected it into his carotid. His skin immediately began to die around the site then heal as his platelets were supercharged.

His lungs began to die. Then heal.

He gasped for air, wondering why his friends had been so willing to so this.

His mental acuity sharpened so that every second felt like a minute as pain that would have rendered him unconscious sent him into seizures.

An hour of throbbing pains that were never repeated as organs died from the suspensor liquid poison then were reborn from the Magnify cocktail of potions.

Fleur gasped when she found Harry lying on the floor, vomiting out the last of the non-optimal flesh his body had killed and rejected.

"You—you took eet?" she whispered in horror.

Ron looked at Harry. "Blimey."

Harry nodded as he looked in the mirror. The potion had optimized him.

"It's like that muggle movie. You're like Captain America." His kids loved the classics.

"The optimized mind will fade in a few decades most likely but the body will remain the same," Karen Weasley, Ron's wife and a mediwitch, said. "Your arse is even more incredible. Sorry, love," she said to an annoyed Ron. "You're also an idiot, Harry."

Fleur nodded. "'Ermione will be unhappy. Though yes, I do appreciate the abs and arse."

"I can't lose any more of my Hands."

The Papers had taken to calling his Blackguard Auror Reaction Team Potter's Red Right Hands. Harry and his team had rather liked it.

~•~

Harry and his two best Hands followed him through the building, cloaked in dozens of anti-muggle and anti-tech spells, they were invisible they hoped. They had been tested against other Augments but these last 73 were the best of the breed, created last.

Finally the last stone was replaced. The Augments had retreated to their hidden base. A castle in the Carpathian Mountains better known as Vlad Tepes's castle.

They apparated to the pinnacle of the castle and Harry began the ritual.

~•~ long ritual to create a reverse fidelius. The world beyond the castle is forgotten. ~•~

The missiles began to fall. Special gasses designed to incapacitate the Augments mixed and began eating away at the seals designed to keep out gasses. Potions accelerated decay of grouting and enhanced the spreading speed as parasitic compounds turned oxygen into more caustic compounds to damage the augments ability to react and destroy the seals of common gas masks.

Harry and his Hands went in and began the long arduous fight against the last Augments alive.

Harry watched the war tribunal fail magekind. The Muggles had promised executions. The Augments were put in cryonic suspension and shipped off in a joke of a ship. Botany Bay. Hubris. The criminals eventually returned. Harry knew they would be back. "Fuck humanity," he muttered.

Hermione took his hand and apparated them away.

In their home, she showed him the Exodus project. A way to move the seven million mages and enough breeding stock of magical creatures off the planet, to a planet they had just been able to prove would support magical life. In the Sirius system.

The ships designs were interesting. Each ship looked like a corncob to Harry, with the kernels holding one hundred thousand mages and creatures per ship in the mage form of cryonic suspension. Each ship was designed to expel the kernels with the others designed to collect them in case of emergency. The pilots and crews of each ship would remain awake for the up to three decade journey.

"Guess I'll be learning to fly a space ship," Harry said and Hermione smiled. Augments had had one good use. They had created their own prison and the Mages way away from muggles.
