Chapter 14

And another chapter, I'm on fire!

Chloe's POV

AAAAAAAAH. I'm Derek's mate. What? I can't believe it. How did this even happen? I'm the happiest girl in this world! After we kissed last night, Derek brought me back to my room. Where Liz was waiting for me of course.

"So you and loverboy, huh?" she asked me, smirking knowingly. I told her everything. About Liam, about thinking I wasn't Derek's mate, about the pain, about me being suicidal. Everything. I didn't sleep last night. I mean it was like 3 in the morning when they saved me. Traveling back, which took over an hour by the way, and getting to our rooms. It was about 4:30 AM…. Talking to Liz about everything took another hour. Our alarm goes off at 6.. Yeah sleeping would have been useless. So now we are walking to the cafeteria. I didn't slept last night, but I still feel like a Duracell Bunny. You know, the one who never stops and just keeps on going on and on and on. Yeah that would be me. Nothing can put me down.

"Hello Chloe," or so I thought.

"Liam," I say, turning around, looking straight at him. Liz is standing behind me, protectively. She is ready to take him down, if necessary. I see his friends behind him. Two boys and a girl I don't know the name of and Mila and Royce. "Come join us for breakfast," I look at him, about to tell him of, I mean how dare he, to almost order me to do that? But then I feel something inside me twitch. My wolf is howling, whimpering. And she listens to him. She walks past him, to the middle of the pack, now standing behind him. I can't control it. I look at Liz, and I see her looking at me in pity. But I also see understanding. She knows why my wolf forced me to walk here. I look at her, begging with my eyes for help. But when the groups starts moving, my wolf joins. And soon we leave Liz behind us and go into the cafeteria. Liam walks to a table and motions me to sit down. I do so. Then the blond boys sits down beside me. The others walk away, but not before Liam tells me, or rather my wolf, to stay put. When the group is in line to get food, the boy beside me starts talking.

"Okay, I don't know how much time we have before they come back, so listen to me, listen carefully, don't interrupt," he looks at me stern, I quickly nod, telling him to go on. "Okay, so Mila, Ramon and myself don't want to be in the pack with Liam. We want to break free. And that is going to happen when Derek is going to fight Liam, we will join his pack. Derek knows. As long as we have to stay in this pack, we will protect you from Liam. I promise you Chloe, we will do everything in our power to keep you save," I nod, understanding. So Liam and Derek were going to fight and when Derek wins, we, the four of us will join him. That's it right. And till that time I get protected by them. Doesn't sound too bad to me. "Now introductions, my name is Austin,"

"Chloe," I answer him.

Sarah's POV

A few hours after Chloe and her friends left, we left the house to get to my new school. Kit wanted to wait for a few days, but after a lot of whining and begging and well being annoying he gave in. So we went to my new school. Crashing in a hotel nearby. The very next day I got everything I need to attend this school. So after settling in, I went to the cafeteria, because it was lunch time. Now I'm looking for Chloe. I see her with some people I don't know. No one from yesterday is with them. I thought she was friends with the people she came with yesterday. I guess I was wrong. I walk over to Chloe and her friends.

"He Chlo," I say when I get to them. I sit down next to her, shoving a blond guy a little to the side. "I enrolled here today, kind of cool right?" I start to munch on my fries when I see all Chloe's friends look at me as if I'm crazy. "What?"

"Who are you?" a girl with red hair asks me.

"Oh, yeah, of course," I say quickly, reminding it may be a little weird to no introduce myself. "I'm Sarah, I'm a friend of Chloe's," I suddenly feel a little nervous. "Who are you guys?" They introduce their selves. Apparently the girl with the red hair is Amber. The guy with brown hair, that looks a little scary, goes by Royce. The blond guy that I shoved aside actually looks nice, he is called Austin. The girl on the other side of Chloe, is Mila and then another brunet; Ramon. And last but not least; Liam. He scares me, like seriously scares me. Chloe doesn't say anything. She just keeps staring at her food.

"So why are you still here?" That guy Royce asks. I don't get it, and I tell him I don't understand. "Why are you still sitting at this table?" I blush a little, feeling embarrassed.

"Chloe is my friend and I don't know anyone else here," I say feeling embarrassed, looking at my hands in my lap.

"Well get to know someone else," the redhead says. Okay, ouch.

"Why should I, Chloe is my friend, right Chlo?" I look at my friend, actually my only friend here.

"Sarah, just go to Simon and Derek, okay?" She doesn't even look at me.

"What?" I'm shocked. This girl is supposed to be my best friend. And now I can't even sit with her at lunch? "So now you found other friends, I'm not good enough for you?" Now she's looking at me.

"Sarah, plea-," I cut her off.

"No, I can't believe you. You know what Chloe, you're a bitch," I see shock and hurt in her eyes, and I don't even care. I grab my lunch and start looking for Simon or Derek. I see them sitting with the guy and the girl who also were at the house yesterday. There were also four other boys. I sit down next to Simon and start renting. "Chloe is a real bitch. She let her friends be mean to me and then told me off. I can't believe her. She wasn't like this!" I tell them, folding my arms and leaning my head on them.

"That's because it isn't Chloe," Derek says. I move my head up to look at him, I give him a 'what the fuck are you talking about' look. "You know Chloe changed into a werewolf right?" I nod my head. "Liam was the one to change her. So he is her Alpha. He probably ordered her to act like that. Those guys aren't her friends," Well it makes sense.

"Why would they do that to her?" I ask desperately.

"They are trying to get to me," he says bitterly. "And it's working," I groan. Poor Chloe.

"I was so mean to her, just seconds ago. She isn't the bitch, I am." I put my head back on my arms.

"Don't worry about it, I will make sure Chloe gets to know you don't hate her," Derek tells me. I thank him. After a few minute of self-pity I snap out of it and look up. To stare right into the eyes of the boys right across from me. His eyes are so intense, it feels like I can't look away. That is till Simon breaks the spell.

"Well Sarah, you know me and Derek. You saw Liz and Brady yesterday. The boys you don't know are members of Derek's pack," he tells me their names. Those of the twins are very alike, so that is sort of easy. I just need to remember Micah has brown hair and Noah is blond. He silent guy is Raphael. And the guy with the intense eyes is Connor. And the second I look at him, we are back at our staring contest.

"Guys?" I hear Brady ask us, but I ignore him. And so does Connor. "What is going on?"

"Oh I know what is going on," I hear the smirk in Derek words. I quickly snap my head back to him. "Someone has a crush on Connor," I blush like crazy. Maybe it's true, but who cares. I mean Connor intrigues me. "And someone has found his mate," he says looking at Connor. Connor give him a death glare. So I'm Connor's mate. Yeah I know what a mate is. I may not be a werewolf, but I lived with a few back at the house. Being someone's mate feels better than you think. I mean, I'm the only one he will ever love, it feels good. Also I have a small crush on the guy. Okay maybe it isn't that small. Would it have anything to do with the mate bond? What if-. Stop! Focus. I smile at Connor who looks a little defeated and shy, it is kind of cute. I stand up, walk to him and give him a hug. Him snuggling into my stomach. I giggle. This actually feels kind of good.

Connor's POV

I found my mate! Did I expect it to happen this fast? No. Am I happy? Hell yeah. And I got lucky. The girl is beautiful. Her long black hair is just. And her eyes. And that smile… I feel like a love sick puppy. Technically I'm one.

SHE HUGGED ME. It was like the best feeling ever! I sound like such a girl… Well who cares? I found my mate!

After school Sarah asked me if I want to join her for a walk. Apparently she wants to search the area for death things, with her being a necromancer and all. I of course said yes. So now we are walking through the woods. Talking a lot. Besides a death bunny, she can't find anything. Which is good. When we start going back to our dorms, I try to make a move and softly grab her hand. She lets me take it, looks up at me with a smile and pulls me a little closer. I smile at her. I'm so distracted by her, I don't hear the twigs snapping on my right or smell the deadly scent. Not until they are right in front of us. They are ready to fight. I quickly pull Sarah behind me. Those vampires won't get near her.
