"Which flavour do you want?" Callie's head turned to face Axton who stood behind her, raised eyebrows. Callie opened her mouth before realizing she didn't really have an answer. She then quickly closed her mouth before shrugging.

"Whichever," Callie admit, her hands clasped tightly together, moist and clammy with nerves. "When it comes to ice-cream everything tastes good anyways." Callie watched as a smirk grew upon Axton's features. His thick eyebrows raised higher, practically touching his hair.

"Calm down, Callie," Axton began, his large hand finding its way towards her tense shoulder. The second his hand rested upon her left shoulder, she felt herself let go of the stress she barely noticed she was carrying. She was so used to the feeling by now that she barely knew she had it. It had become the norm for her. "The court date is tomorrow. It'll be fine."

"Yeah," Callie doubted, her hands running up and down her crossed arms as she let out the word in a sigh. Axton's eyebrows began to raise again, noticing her tenseness. She really didn't want Axton to think about her problems, or to reassure her of them. Perhaps they were friends, but she didn't feel as though it would be right to drag him into the pit of stress and nerves with her.

To distract him, she shoves him gently, tugging at his sleeve in the process. His eyebrows then fall back down and his smirk turns into a grin as he recites the playful shove. She lets out an internal sigh of relief when she notices his doubt of her nerves were gone.

"Next!" The girl behind the counter exclaimed, claiming Callie and Axton's attention. Good, another distraction. Axton straddled over to the counter, Callie tagging behind him.

"Hello, how are you doing?" The girl asked, the question seemed to be for both Callie and Axton, but the girls' gaze lied upon Axton and her words seemed to linger on as she looked up to him.

"Lovely," Axton said cockily, a smirk appearing onto his sharpening features. Callie rolled her eyes, looking away. Although Axton and Alexis were dating, he was still quite flirtatious with other girls. The first time Callie noticed, it had angered her. She hated cheaters. But when she caught Alexis flirting with another boy as well, she had gotten even angrier. They were unfaithful to one another, and it disturbed.

But last night, Callie was out with them, including Tessa and Tristan as well. They had went to see a movie when she saw Alexis standing not far behind Axton as he flirted with the cashier at the snack section. She immediately thought that Axton had absolutely no boundaries, but then she overheard them laughing about it, and she felt her face twist. They both knew what they were doing, and were fine with it.

She'd never seen such a relationship before. That was when Tessa had noticed the odd way she looked at them and told her how Alexis and Axton both took their good looks to an advantage and were fine with the other flirting with someone else as long as it only stayed as flirting. Callie felt herself get jealous for the two of them. It made her slightly uncomfortable, but it wasn't her relationship, and she didn't want to say much about it. So, despite how uncomfortable it was, she watched Alexis and Axton flirt with other people absentmindedly, no sign of doubt or regret within them.

"Well I'm doing much better now," the girl practically slurred at him, her dark and thick eyelashes fluttering. Callie had to force herself from rolling her eyes again, and instead barged into their conversation.

"I'll have a bubble-gum ice-cream," Callie announced, causing the girl to hand her a dirty look and Axton to direct his smirk to her rather than the girl at counter. "I'll have mint please," Axton said tenderly, winking towards the girl before she went to scoop them up their cones.

"Of course." She then handed Axton one last smile and another dramatic eyebrow flutter before she went to the other end of the counter to get their ice-creams ready. Axton's eyes quickly darted back to Callie, still smirking.

"You really hate it when I do that, don't you?" Axton's smile never left his face, even when Callie's gaze fell upon the tilled floors beneath them. "I don't know what you're talking 'bout, Ax," Callie lied. "You need to be more specific when you speak."

"You sure as hell know what I'm talking about," Axton pressed, handing her one of his crooked grins which somehow managed to compliment every aspect of his face. "It bothers you when I'm flirting with girls who aren't Alexis. We might've been in a car accident a few weeks back but that doesn't mean I'm stupid."

"It's just…" Callie trails off, uncertain of how to place the words and if there's really any proper way to phrase them. How do you tell someone you're uncomfortable with their relationship? It doesn't really go for what she stands for. She has two moms and she certainly wouldn't appreciate people telling them that. How was this any different? "Forget it."

"No," Axton presses, his hands crossed across his chest. "You're not allowed to tell me that after you were about to begin a very serious conversation with me." Callie could tell he was teasing, but she could sense a light seriousness in his tone.

"That's like when some kid tells you someone has a crush on you but won't tell you who it is," Axton insists, and Callie lets her own smirk escape through her lips. "Why do you flirt with other girls like that? Don't you love Alexis?"

"Love's a strong word," Axton described, and Callie knew what he was saying. If anyone knew the depths of love, it was Callie. She spent most of her life wondering whether or not people would love her, and when they did, she doubted if they were being honest or not. "I love my parents, my family, my friends. But relationships are hard."

Callie then realized how she had never really heard Alexis and Axton say I love you to one another. She had just assumed that it was because they were quiet and kept their relationship personal, or they had not been together long enough to say it yet. But now, everything seemed to add up.

"Maybe relationships are hard because you keep flirting with girls who aren't your girlfriend," Callie stated teasingly, but Axton's smile fell slightly, his face looking down, yet the corners of his mouth were still tugged up lightly, lingering there in a sad smile. She then regretted bringing up the conversation. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that."

He then looked up to her, the smile even harder to face when his orbs bored into hers, shimmering in the sunlight from the window. "Don't be," Axton assured. "Relationships are hard because they're… scary. 'Cause, you know, it's either the real deal, or it's not."

"Well that's what makes them special," Callie insisted. "If the first person everyone meets is always going to be 'the one,' then what's the point? We won't have any crazy-exes stories, or any awkward reminders. And when finally, the real 'one' comes along, it won't feel as special because we weren't always waiting for this person considering we found them right away."

"Yeah but what if the real 'one' is the first person we meet," Axton implies, dirty blonde strands of hair falling over his forehead messily. "How amazing would that be? We wouldn't have to deal with all the heartbreak."

So that's what he's afraid of, Callie realized.

"Here you are," the girl appeared again, handing them both their ice-creams, her eyes only laying upon Axton's once more. Even as he handed her the money, her green eyes never left his.

"Thanks," Axton said, his cocky smirk reappearing upon his face as he winked her a good bye, Callie once again trailing behind him.

"You're a good guy, Axton," Callie promised, sitting across from him on the table, almost feeling as though he didn't believe it himself. "Don't let your fears control you."

And then she saw it. The way his blue eyes shined, the way those strands of hairs always wandered over his forehead, the way his lips tugged up genuinely.

He looked at her the way she wished he would look at Alexis.

"Mama?"

Callie and Axton were getting ready to leave the ice-cream store, the two of them heading to go to Tristan's house. Just as Callie was going to grasp onto her purse from behind the chair her eyes fell upon Lena, who concentrated fiercely onto her phone behind three people waiting in line.

Lena's eyes looked up and her straight face turned into a bright smile once she noticed her daughter standing in front of her. "Hey sweetheart!" Lena exclaimed, throwing her arms around the girl who returned the hug with just as much strength.

"What are you doing here?" Lena asked, pulling away slightly yet still rubbing onto Callie's upper arms softly. "Axton and I went to grab an ice-cream before going to our friend's house." Lena's eyes darted away from Callie and landed onto the blond boy with an awkward smile upon his face, swaying slightly onto his heels. It was the boy who was in the car with Callie the night of the accident. The one who threw his arm in front of the girl, almost as though trying to protect her from the inevitable.

"Oh, hello Axton!" Lena handed him a kind smile which he gratefully handed back to her. "Hi, Mrs. Adams-Foster." Callie's eyes darted back as well, looking towards Axton whose hands were clasped together tightly, still swaying back and forth.

"What are you doing here?" Callie asked, her attention back to Lena who had pulled Callie to her side, an arm wrapped tightly around the girl's shoulders. "Your siblings are in the car and Jesus insisted on having ice-cream. But none of them wanted to come inside and eat it so I suppose I am their delivery woman." Callie let out a small giggle.

"Oh love, considering I'm treating them I could treat you too," Lena babbled, letting go of Callie and begging to look through her purse for some money. "You must've already eaten but I'll pay you back for it."

"Oh, no," Axton chimed in, slightly walking closer towards Callie and landing right beside her, his arm slightly brushing hers and Callie contemplated whether or not she should slightly move away from the warm touch. "I insisted on paying for Callie. She paid for the movie tickets last night so it's the least I could do."

Lena's eyes widened as she looked through Callie and Axton. "Oh well, are you sure you don't want me to pay you back then honey." The question was directed to Axton but it took him quite some time to realize it.

"Oh!" He exclaimed in realization once he noticed Callie and Lena looking upon him with an awaiting gaze. "No, you don't have to do that. It's fine."

"Alright then," Lena smiled, looking to Callie one last time before the same girl called her over to place her order. "How about you go by the car and surprise you siblings, I'm sure they'll wanna see you."

Callie nods and hands Lena one last hug before walking outside to find Lena's car, this time, Axton was trailing behind her. Callie's eyes then found he familiar car and she quietly made her way to it, knocking on the back window and ducking quickly before anyone caught her.

"What the hell are you doing?" Axton asked, ducking behind her as well, his breath minty from the ice cream he just ate. "Trying to freak 'em out a little." Axton let out a small chuckle as he followed a crouched Callie crawl towards one of the back doors not to get caught.

"Ah," Axton sighed dramatically. "Sibling love." It was Callie's turn to laugh quietly before reaching up a hand to knock onto the door, right below the window. "You should back up a bit, in case they open the door and break your nose or something."

Callie just rolled her eyes. "This is Mariana's side," Callie told him. "She's too fearful to open the door. Jesus is the one you should be scared of." Axton nodded slowly in acknowledgment behind her.

"What the hell was that?" Mariana asked cautiously, Callie and Axton being able to hear her through the closed door. "Jesus, go and check!" Callie began to giggle lightly at the argument she knew was ahead.

"Are you insane?" Jesus exclaimed. "I'm not getting myself killed by going out there!"

"Guys it was probably just the wind calm down," Brandon insisted, and Callie could see the back of his head from the front. "The wind isn't that loud, Brandon!" Mariana insisted.

"Fine then I nominate Jesus to go check it out," Brandon said nonchalantly, and Callie knocked again on the side of the door harshly. Callie could practically hear Mariana scoot over towards Jude who most likely was sitting in the middle.

"Why don't you go Brandon?" Jesus implied loudly.

"You're the wrestler!" Brandon reminded, his voice as loud as Jesus'.

"Guys! Calm down, what kind of killer knocks on the door like that, this isn't one of Jesus' weird horror movies," Jude states.

Callie then looks over to Axton handing him a signal that she was ready to jump up and scare them. In a quick motion, Callie stood up abruptly and knocked loudly before showing her face. All four of them instinctively backed away in the opposite direction before noticing it was Callie.

"Callie!" Jude exclaimed, a smile growing widely upon his face as Mariana opened the car door to leap out and hug her. Callie giggled as she felt Mariana's arms latch around her neck.

"You scared the crap out of me!" Mariana told her, backing away to look towards her face, there was still a cut above her right eyebrow and one of her cheeks were lightly bruised from the crash, but she was certainly healing.

"I had to do it," Callie laughed, pulling her back into a tight hug. "The desire of scaring all of you was stronger than me." They both burst out in giggling fits before Callie felt another pair of slim arms wrap around one of her shoulders, trying to join the hug.

One of Callie's arms wound around Jude's shoulders as well as the three of them hugged in laughter. "You're messed up," Jude laughed, his chin resting upon her shoulder. "I know."

"Thank you Callie," Jesus said tiredly, still sitting in the car as Brandon lowered the window and tightly squeezed onto Callie's arm from his seat in the front. "For what?" She asked, one arm around Jude and the other around Mariana.

"Making it obvious that if the aliens invade us or if a murderer comes, I will be the human sacrifice," Jesus states teasingly, yet he still glares at his other three siblings. His gaze then lands upon Axton, who stood behind Callie in patience.

"Who's your friend?" Jesus knew who Axton was, but he wasn't exactly properly introduced. None of the family members were. All four of them looked back, Axton handing them the same smile he had previously handed to Lena.

"Oh," Callie smiled, releasing Mariana and Jude and walking over to Axton, placing a hand onto his warm arm. "You know Axton. Axton these are my siblings." Her eyes fell upon the side of his face, his warm gaze focused upon her siblings.

"Hi," he said softly, his smile forcing up and his eyes shining in the sun which stood brightly upon them. "Hi," Jude said back, and Mariana waved at him, handing the older boy a soft smile. Clearly, she found him good looking. Everyone did.

"Nice to officially meet you," Brandon said kindly, extending his hand from the window for Axton to shake. The boy's firm grip took Brandon by surprised as they shook hands. Axton then extended his hand to shake Jesus' but the boy just nodded towards him, eyeing him up and down questioningly.

Axton then reluctantly darted his hand away from him, slightly embarrassed. It was odd. Usually he was so cocky and easy going. But this was different. Callie had never seen Axton look this uncomfortable before. Perhaps it was because he still blamed himself for the accident which was certainly not his fault. Or another reason Callie's mind wandered off to.

Lena then walked out of the store, four ice-creams in her hands, Jude quickly going over to help her once he noticed her struggle to hold them properly. "Thank you, sweetheart," Lena said, handing him another warm smile as he went over to hand Brandon his ice-cream, the other in his hands belonging to him.

"I see you've run into Callie as well," Lena said as she handed Jesus and Mariana their ice-creams. She then looked over to Callie, who stood closely to Axton. "Callie, how about you come for supper later tonight?" Lena asked, her eyes looking to Axton. "You can come, too."

"Oh, I," Callie tries to continue but Jude cuts her off sharply. "Yeah! Mom really wants to see you, too!" Callie then looks over to Axton who shrugs slightly.

"I'm sure Tristan and the girls won't mind," Axton said. Callie looked up to him, his eyes warm and genuine. Callie certainly wanted to go, but she wasn't sure whether or not Axton wanted to. But now, she could tell in his eyes that he really didn't mind.

"I guess we should get going then!"
