June 1st, 2002

Athena carefully opened one eye as she heard a knock at the door to the hotel room she and the bridesmaids had stayed in the night previously. She closed her eye as she heard the door open before opening her eyes and glancing at her phone smiling as she was suddenly overwhelmed with a feeling of happiness but also nervousness as she realized her wedding day was finally here. She glanced at the other girls still asleep from the long night as both the bachelor and bachelorette parties had occurred the night before both the best man and matron of honor had agreed to keep it tame and not let anything too wild happen. She slipped out of bed heading over to her mother who was accompanied by a bellman bringing in a tray of breakfast foods with a pot of coffee and a pitcher of juice for the girls.

She slipped out of bed wrapping her robe tighter around her to fight off the chill of the morning walking over to her mother "I'm getting married today!" she whispered excitedly not wanting to wake the others just yet when they still had some time to sleep.

Audrey wrapped her arms around her daughter "yes my princess you are getting married and I couldn't be happier." She tilted up her daughter's chin looking at her "I used to think the happiest day of my life was the day you were born but I think today will be the happiest day of my life for a little while at least. Seeing how happy you are and watching you, my little girl, leave your father and me to be joined with the love of your life in eternal matrimony just makes me feel like I am going to burst from happiness."

Hermione sat up in the bed she shared with Ginny. She glanced over at Athena and her mother smiling "I can see it is going to be an early start but let's get you ready before Harry starts to get impatient and wonder if you got cold feet."

Athena blinked shocked "you don't really think after all this time Harry would actually believe I got cold feet do you?"

Ginny glanced over after rubbing her eyes "I know that Harry knows that you love him and want to marry him but he thinks that you could do better than him."

Hermione nodded "because of his situation growing up with his uncle and aunt he is used to being seen as second best and still doesn't like the attention he gets for being the 'Boy Who Lived'"

Athena glanced over at Madison and Catherine who were waking up before turning her attention to Catherine's daughter Marissa smiling as the little girl ran over to her and hugged her leg "good morning to you as well Marissa. Are you excited?"

Marissa nodded smiling sweetly before running over to her mother and lifted her arms up wanting to be picked up by her mother. Catherine picked up her little girl setting her on her lap "today's the big day. Are you nervous or excited Athena?"

Athena "a little of both. More excited than nervous but a little worried now that I know my fiancee might think that I'm getting cold feet. Mom, will you go speak to Dad to make sure he reassures my fiancee that I have no intention of leaving him alone at the altar?"

Audrey laughed but nodded "sure thing sweetheart just make sure you and the girls eat some breakfast. It is going to be a long day and we have a lot to do to make sure you are ready to marry the love of your life." She headed out of the room walking to the elevator to go to the floor the men were staying on.

Meanwhile, in the men's hotel room Axel worked on getting the coffee started knowing the long day that was ahead of them. He smiled thinking 'today is the day my little girl marries the love of her life and finally gets her share of happiness after so long.' He wiped a tear from the corner of his eye as he realized that he was going to have to give his daughter to someone else and that she was all grown up. He focused on the coffee giving a small nod in Alexander's direction as he made his way over to the coffee bar.

Alexander looked at the man he had once thought would be his father in law "are you ready for today?"

Axel handed him a cup of coffee before working on making one for himself "yes and no. I'm happy that my little bookworm is finally getting her happily ever after and that she is marrying the love of her life today. It's just hard to admit that she is finally all grown up and leaving her mother and me behind to start a life with her soon to be husband and I have to let her go. It's a day of mixed emotions but I won't let my bit of sadness ruin this day for my daughter."

Alexander took a sip of his coffee "Harry is a good guy and he's probably the best fit for Athena that you are going to find. Looking at my relationship with Athena now that it's over and both of us have moved on I can see that we were never going to work out in the long run. We wanted different things in life at the time and probably still do and I'm sure it would have led to arguments and disagreements that would have made us both miserable. I enjoy married life with Madison and I'm sure Athena and Harry will enjoy it as well and your daughter will get the happy ever after she used to tell me about when we were younger."

Harry walked over to the pair rubbing his eyes with messy hair "good morning Axel and Alexander."

Axel looked at him "ready to marry my daughter? Or are you getting cold feet now that you've seen the ups and downs of being with Athena."

Harry looked at him "I still want to marry your daughter. I know there will still be bad days where I wonder if it is even worth it to be with her but the good days where I'm reminded of why I fell in love with her. Those days remind me of how lucky I am that she came into my life and how much better it is because of her. I'm more worried that she'll get cold feet because I know that she could probably do better than me especially considering her lineage."

Axel put a hand on Harry's shoulder "I'm sure she is thinking the same about you. I don't care about lineage. What I care about is seeing my daughter happy and I've never seen her as happy with anyone else as she is when you two are together. So let's get everyone up and get this day started so you and my daughter can finally get your happily ever after together." He went over to the other men and started waking them up.

Harry blinked at the knock on the door he looked through the peephole before opening the door looking at Audrey "good morning Audrey."

Audrey smiled "good morning Harry. I've come to deliver a message from your bride to be. She wanted me to tell you not to worry that she doesn't have cold feet and she is more than ready to marry you and start your lives together. I also ordered a tray of breakfast for you guys and it should be up momentarily."

Harry let out a breath of relief at Audrey's message "thank you, Audrey, for both the breakfast and delivering that message. I am ready to marry your daughter and spend the rest of my life making sure she is as happy as she had made me in our time together."

Audrey patted his shoulder "well I'll let you gentlemen eat and get ready and we will see you at the venue after a while with all the pretty ladies." She walked over to Axel giving him a quick peck before she headed out and back to her daughter's room.

Back in Athena's room, the girls had gotten dressed after eating the small breakfast that had been delivered. They were putting on their shoes when Audrey came in causing Athena to look up curious as to how her mother's conversation with Harry had gone.

Audrey smiled "he was worried about you getting cold feet but has been reassured and is ready to meet you at the altar." She turned towards the other ladies "are we ready to start our day so we can get this girl married?"

Hermione put on her shoes looking at the piece of paper to her side "let's begin this day and hope it runs smoothly. The first item on our itinerary now that breakfast has been had is to head to the spa for the start of our pampering to get us looking our best and help the bride to relax a little before the ceremony."

Ginny got up taking Athena's hand and pulled her up "let the morning of pampering begin and make sure you are one of the most beautiful brides. Of course, the rest of us will look good as well but we have to make sure you look the best and stand out from the crowd." She twirled her around before they headed out glad that she and Athena had become friends rather than enemies because of Harry.

The girls piled in the limo looking around at the various buildings and scenery as they headed for downtown London where the spa and salon were located. Marissa entertained the girls as she pointed out the various things she spotted along the way.

Eventually, they reached the spa heading in and checking in with the receptionist before they were lead back to individual changing rooms with the exception being Catherine and Marissa who had decided to just get facials and a short massage for Catherine. The girls changed into the towels that had been left before heading into the sauna room for the first part of the spa treatments.

An hour later the girls had moved onto the next part of the spa treatment getting a gua sha massage. Athena relaxed as the essential oils and Jade pieces were moved around massaging the oils into her skin and helping her to relax and feel the detoxifying effects. She glanced around the room doing her best to not move her head too much as the massage therapist did her work. 'I wonder if the others are enjoying the treatments we signed up for.'

On the other side of London, the boys were picking up their suits making sure all the pieces were in place and making sure everything still fit properly. Harry put on the final piece of his suit smiling as everything fit perfectly glad his day was off to a good day. Ron poked his head in glancing at Harry "looks good mate. You'll look good next to your gorgeous bride."

Axel poked his head in making sure everything was okay "yes you will look good next to my daughter but we already knew that from pictures the two of you had been in before."

Later on, the girls sat in the salon part of the building getting their hair and makeup done before they would get dressed and ready for pictures. Athena watched as her bridesmaids got beautified with different hairstyles and makeup that made each one unique but still had a similar natural look. Athena's hair had been pulled back slightly with a flower headpiece that would connect to her veil woven in and the ends of her hair curled slightly for a more natural wave. Her make up was simple with a little bit of concealer and light gold eye shadow and light layer of beige lipstick to finish off the look.

Hermione walked over to Athena once her hair and makeup were finished "you look gorgeous even with the simplest of makeup." Hermione's hair had been straightened and pulled back into a simple twist at the nape of her neck. Her make up with a layer of reddish pink lipstick with a bit of eyeliner around her eyes to make them pop a little bit with a hint of pink eye shadow.

Ginny joined the two once she was done "both of you look pretty and of course, Athena looks gorgeous with minimal makeup. You two both make me a little jealous of how little makeup it took to make you both look beautiful." Her hair was out of its normal ponytail framing her face with a little wave at the end of it. Her make up was cherry red lipstick with a foundation that minimized her freckles without completely hiding them and her eyes were rimmed with eyeliner and a light gold eye shadow. She glanced back at the group "so what is next on the itinerary Hermione?"

Hermione "well once everyone is done with hair and makeup it will be time to head back to the hotel for a tiny lunch before we go the park where Harry and Athena had their engagement photos so that they can have their wedding photos taken. Harry will get to see his beautiful bride and once pictures are done we will head to the venue and get the ceremony started." She watched as more of the group gathered around fawning over Athena before they were ready to go to the hotel and get dressed.

After the bridal party had gotten dressed they headed to the park. Harry stepped out of the limo arriving at the park glancing around as the photographer stepped out of her vehicle. He watched the families with small children play on the various equipment wondering if in a few years that would be him and Athena. He greeted the photographer before following her with the other groomsmen to the spot where they would be getting photos taken. He and the groomsmen went through the poses that could be done without the bridesmaids or the bride having a good time and joking around. His back was turned as Athena walked up as the groomsmen tried their best to hide their reactions to seeing the bride.

Athena gently placed her hands over Harry's eyes as she reached him "guess who."

Harry chuckled taking her hands off his eyes before turning and taking a look at his gorgeous bride "you are stunning my love." He gave her a gentle kiss careful to not ruin her make up as the photos were snapped capturing the special moment.

Athena gently fussed with Harry's hair giving up after a moment when the piece refused to cooperate "you look handsome love. I'm so happy today and I never thought I would have the chance to be this happy. I'm glad I took a chance on you."

Harry pulled her close gently cupping her cheek and rubbing his thumb over her cheek "I'm glad you gave us a shot and that things turned out so well for both of us." He glanced at the photographer as she cleared her throat before looking at Athena "I guess we should let her do her job and get the rest of the pictures done." He led Athena over to the area they had been previously letting her and the bridesmaids get through their pictures before joining her for the family pictures smiling as his "adopted" family joined him for the grooms family pictures.

Once the pictures were done and the bridal party headed to the venue where Athena's parents and Molly and Arthur Weasley waited greeting the guests and directing them into the venue to be seated. Athena and the bridesmaids arrived quickly ushered into a private room for last minute preparations before the ceremony started. Harry and the groomsmen were placed in a different room by the wedding planner's assistant waiting until it was time.

Finally, it was 6 pm and the wedding was ready to begin. Harry stood beside Kingsley who was once again officiating a wedding. He watched as the members of the bridal party started down the aisle in a black suit with a red vest and gray shirt and red tie with a red rose and gray ribbon boutonniere. He had been unable to believe how well the venue had transformed into his and Athena's wishes looking absolutely perfect. He refocused his attention smiling as Dean escorted Catherine down the aisle wearing a similar suit to Harry only with a yellow shirt and tie with a gray vest. Catherine wore a gray dress with red and yellow ribbons tied around the waist. Next was Madison with Seamus sporting the same outfits as Dean and Catherine as they walked down. Ginny and Neville were the last of the bridesmaid-groomsmen pair walking down and taking their places on either side. The groomsmen wore boutonnieres of a yellow rose while the bridesmaids carried bouquets of yellow roses with gray ribbons tied around them. Ron and Hermione started their trek down the aisle Ron in a suit with a red shirt and gray vest and tie while Hermione wore a one shoulder floor length red gown taking the arm of her husband as they walked before taking their places. Teddy and Marissa walked down next with Teddy grinned as he watched Marissa drop the red and yellow petals onto the floor. Teddy took a seat with his grandmother holding the pillow with the rings in his lap. Marissa sat with her father and other siblings taking in the decorations.

Axel looked at his daughter as they waited for their cue. He shot a smile at his wife before looking back at his daughter "are you ready bookworm? This is it where your old man finally has to give you up to someone new. Are you sure this is what you want?" He asked the last question jokingly narrowly avoiding the elbow jab that his daughter sent his way.

Athena looked at her father "I am sure this is what I want. I know you are still not ready to let me go but I know that Harry is my future and I'm ready to start my future with him." She glanced forward as the doors opened and she with both her parents walked down the aisle towards her love and her future. She wore a white strapless gown with a sweetheart neckline and a line skirt with floral details sewn into the skirt. She smiled as she reached her future husband. Her parents both gave her a kiss on the cheek before allowing her to take Harry's arm and take the step up to where Kingsley waited. She held her bouquet of red and yellow roses with gray ribbons tied around them in one hand holding Harry's arm with the other.

Kingsley looked at the group "Family and friends we are here today to celebrate the marriage and joining of lives today of these two very special people. I have known Harry for a while and watched him grow into an incredible man and while I've only known Athena for a short time I've seen her overcome obstacles and help Harry continue to grow into the man he is today. Marriage is not something to be entered into on a whim it is a partnership and both parties must take this partnership seriously. I have watched these two become stronger together and learn that they are no longer alone in this life and I believe they have a strong foundation that will only become stronger as time passes." He paused for a moment before looking at the crowd "does anyone have any objections as to why these two should not be wed? Speak now or forever hold your peace." He waited before turning to Athena "Do you Athena Kassandra Blaze come here freely without influence and reservations to give yourself to the groom in marriage?"

Athena looked at Kingsley "I do."

Kingsley smiled before turning to Harry "Do you Harry James Potter come here freely without influence and reservations to give yourself to the bride in marriage?"

Harry nodded "I do."

Kingsley smiled "Well Harry and Athena having heard that it is your intention to be married to each other I now ask you to recite your vows to one another. Place turn to one another and hold hands. Athena give your bouquet to Hermione."

Athena handed her bouquet to Hermione before taking Harry's hands as she faced him.

Kingsley looked at Athena "Athena repeat after me I, Athena Kassandra Blaze, take you, Harry James Potter, to be my husband, my lover and my best friend and promise to be patient, to show you how much I love you not just say it, to laugh with you, cry with you and always love you in this world and the next."

Athena looked at Harry "I, Athena Kassandra Blaze, take you, Harry James Potter, to be my husband, my lover and my best friend and promise to be patient, to show you how much I love you not just say it, to laugh with you, cry with you and always love you in this world and the next."

Kingsley looked at Harry "Harry repeat after me I, Harry James Potter, take you, Athena Kassandra Blaze, to be my wife, my lover and my best friend and promise to be patient, to show you how much I love you not just say it, to laugh with you, cry with you and always love you in this world and the next."

Harry smiled holding Athena's hands "I, Harry James Potter, take you, Athena Kassandra Blaze, to be my wife, my lover and my best friend and promise to be patient, to show you how much I love you not just say it, to laugh with you, cry with you and always love you in this world and the next."

Kingsley looked at the two "your wedding rings are the sign to the world the love and bond that you two already share. Ron, please give the bride's ring to Harry. Harry place the ring on Athena's finger and repeat after me: I Harry, take thee, Athena to be my wife. To have and to hold, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, in joy and sorrow, and I promise my love to you. And with this ring, I take you as my wife, for as long as we both shall live."

Ron took Athena's ring from Teddy when he offered up the pillow before handing it carefully to Harry.

Harry took the ring sliding it on Athena's finger "I Harry, take thee, Athena to be my wife. To have and to hold, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, in joy and sorrow, and I promise my love to you. And with this ring, I take you as my wife, for as long as we both shall live."

Kingsley looked over at Hermione "Hermione please give Harry's ring to Athena." He waited until Hermione had got the ring from Teddy and handed it to Athena before resuming his speech Athena repeat after me I Athena, take thee, Harry to be my husband. To have and to hold, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, in joy and sorrow, and I promise my love to you. And with this ring, I take you as my wife, for as long as we both shall live."

Athena slid the ring onto Harry's finger before looking up at him "I Athena, take thee, Harry to be my husband. To have and to hold, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, in joy and sorrow, and I promise my love to you. And with this ring, I take you as my wife, for as long as we both shall live."

Kingsley performed the bonding spell smiling before turning to the crowd "by the power vested in me as Minister of Magic I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride. I now present to you Mr. and Mrs. Harry James Potter."

Harry pulled Athena close and placed a gentle kiss on her lips not wanting to over do it with family and friends being present. He smiled as the crowd cheered holding his wife's hand as they headed down to the reception area glad he could finally call Athena his wife. Athena looked up at him when they reached the private room the bridal party had been in earlier "I'm just going to change shoes before we go out and have our reception if that is alright with you Mr. Potter."

Harry gave her another kiss before letting her go and taking a seat in one of the chairs "that is perfectly fine Mrs. Potter." He blinked when Hermione and Ginny came into the room "I assume you ladies are also planning on changing shoes?"

Hermione nodded "heels are wonderful for pictures and the start of the ceremony but now they are causing my feet to ache and I think it is time for comfortable shoes."

Ginny looked at him "how does it feel to officially be a married man?"

Harry smiled "I couldn't be happier. I hope one day you get to enjoy the same happiness with Neville that I feel with Athena." He glanced over at his wife as she walked out in gold flats. He stood up taking her offered hand as she approached "are we ready for the reception?"

Athena waited until after Ginny and Hermione had left before nodding "let's go Mr. Potter. We have guests that are awaiting our presence and dinner." She walked out holding his hand taking a moment to admire their rings. Harry's ring was silver with black in the middle while her band was a silver and black band with infinity symbols woven together to form a circle.

Harry led her over to the head table where the rest of the bridal party sat cheering as the two took their places. "I want to thank everyone for coming to celebrate this wonderful day and also thank my in-laws and the bridal party for their help through this process to get us to this moment."

Axel stood up walking over to the head table with the mic in hand "Thank you, everyone, for being here to celebrate this special day for my daughter and her now husband. We couldn't have asked for a better son-in-law and the happiness I see on my daughter's face makes the long process it took to get here completely worth it. In a moment dinner will be served so please enjoy the meal and then it will be toast time."

After a while dinner was finished and the toasts had been made Harry led Athena over to the cake smiling at the three-tiered cake with gray ribbons made out of frosting on each layer and yellow frosting roses that decorated the cake before looking at the frosting rose bouquet at the very top. He and Athena took the knife carefully cutting a piece of cake for each. Athena offered the cake up to Harry careful not to get any frosting on him. She took the offered piece from him delicately eating it as she enjoyed the flavors. She linked arms with her husband as they took a sip of their champagne.

Axel smiled as the DJ announced that it was time for couples first dance. Athena and Harry made their way to the dance floor as John Legend's "all of you" began to play on the speakers. Harry twirled his bride around the floor glad that Athena had insisted they take dance lessons leading up to this day. He looked at her "are you happy my love?"

Athena nodded resting her head on his shoulder "more than I thought possible. This venue is amazing. Everything has been like a fairy tale today and I got to marry the love of my life. I don't think this day could get any better."

Axel turned towards his wife who had been oddly quiet before noticing the tears in her eyes "don't cry, my love. She is happy and we aren't truly losing her. It was time for her to start her future with the man she is meant to be with and start their own family."

Audrey tucked into his side sniffling "I'm happy for her Axel. I just didn't realize how much our daughter has grown up until this moment. Our little bookworm isn't so little anymore and now she's going to start a family of her own."

Axel held her for a few more moments before the song ended and it was time for the father-daughter dance. He let go of his wife giving her a gentle kiss on the forehead before heading over to where his daughter waited. He smiled as Bruce Springsteen's "when you need me" began to play as he danced with his daughter "well my little bookworm you are all grown up and married now. Don't forget you will always be my little girl and I'll be there when you need me but you are no longer alone. Remember you two are partners for life now and there will be fights and there will be bad times but there will also be good times. The good times make everything worth it."

Athena smiled "I know daddy. I was lucky to have you and mom to show me what marriage truly is all about along with grandmother and grandfather. No marriage is perfect and there will be bad days and ugly fights but what matters is how you fix your problems and how you resolve those fights." She let him twirl her one last time before the song ended before walking with him over to her mother as Harry and Mrs. Weasley had the mother-son dance.

Harry smiled at Mrs. Weasley as they danced "thank you for acting as my parents today. You've always been like a mother to me and I can't thank you enough for your kindness over the years."

Mrs. Weasley patted his cheek "you've been like a son to us for so long. I thought one day you would end up with our Ginevra but it wasn't meant to be and seeing you with Athena makes me just as happy. I know your parents would be proud of the man you've become. I'm glad you have allowed Arthur and me to be your parents in your biological parents' absence. We are so proud of you Harry." She listened to the song before looking at Harry "who is singing this song? I assume it is a muggle since I don't recognize it."

Harry "it is a muggle. The song is called 'you'll be in my heart' and it is by Phil Collins. Athena had me listening to muggle music during the wedding because she didn't really like the lack of variety of music in the wizarding world." He spun her one last time before the song ended before escorting her over to Arthur.

Arthur smiled "congratulations, Harry. It is a beautiful wedding and it is wonderful to see you so happy. If you don't mind I think I will go dance with my wife now that they've opened up the floor."

Harry smiled "go right ahead, Mr. Weasley. I think I better find my wife so I can dance with her a little more." He headed over to where Athena was standing "can I get another dance with my wife?"

Athena looked at him taking his hand "of course you can." She walked with him to the dance floor twirling around and enjoying the evening.

Hermione and Ron danced near them swaying to a slow song. Hermione looked at the two "congratulations on officially tying the knot. This wedding has been amazing and I'm so happy for you two."

Ron clapped Harry on the shoulder "good job mate. I hope you two are as happy as Hermione and I are."

After a few more songs and the last song of the evening had been played it was time for the newlyweds to leave. Harry watched as Athena grabbed the last of their things before they walked out to fireworks being set off by the Weasley twins and sparklers being waved by their friends and family. They headed over to the awaiting limo that had been decorated for the occasion before saying goodbye to everyone.

Athena set her head on Harry's shoulder "off to the hotel tonight and then to our honeymoon in the morning right?"

Harry gently kissed the top of her head "yes darling. Off to paradise for a few weeks to be alone and to relax hopefully. I know you and I have been both been busy these last few weeks and both deserve some time off. I'm just glad that Kingsley was willing to let me have this time. Your business won't suffer any with you being gone will it?"

Athena shook her head "I'm up to date with most of my clients and have informed them of my honeymoon. Any urgent or pressing matters Hermione had agreed to handle or one of the other lawyers nearby can handle until I get back."

Harry "how are the classes going? I know with Malfoy being released earlier you had to start the classes earlier."

Athena "they've been fine. Mrs. Malfoy is already an ally from having her as a client and Draco seems to be changing. I'm not sure if he will completely change but it does seem his mother is having an impact on him. Hermione will continue to teach their classes with the help of one of the other teachers while I'm gone." She looked up at him "everything is planned for and taken care of so now all we have to do is focus on just being happy and spending time alone and uninterrupted for the new two weeks."

Harry gave her a kiss before looking up as the limo stopped at their hotel for the night. He opened the door stepping out and offering Athena his hand as she stepped out. He walked over to the driver's door paying him for the evening before taking his wife's hand and heading into the hotel. He walked up to the front desk checking them in before taking the key and walking to the elevator.

Athena looked around walking with Harry to the elevator. She watched the numbers climb before they reached the top level where the honeymoon suite was located. She followed Harry into the room glad that their things had been delivered earlier. She let out a small squeak as Harry pinned her to the door to give her a proper kiss.

Harry scooped her up bringing her over to the bed before setting her on it "you are so beautiful my love. I am a lucky man to get to call you mine for all of eternity." He kissed her gently as he worked to unzip the dress she wore.

Athena undid his tie throwing it off to the side before unbuttoning the vest and then his shirt stopping the kiss a few times to catch her breath. Harry slid the dress off her taking in the white lingerie that she wore underneath before working to free her from it.

Half an hour later the two lay under the covers cuddling as they caught their breath. Harry looked at Athena pulling her close so her head rested on his heart "I love you, Mrs. Potter."

Athena placed a gentle kiss on his heart "and I love you, Mr. Potter." She snuggled into his side before closing her eyes drifting off to sleep with dreams of raven-haired children with gray and emerald eyes running around.
