Chapter 12
The book
Special prospective~
"Triton, are you crazy! You're going to have us both killed!" Revolence spoke in a quiet, but desperate manner as we hid behind the wall of a building that was right next to Fairy Tail.
Shooshing him, I looked around the corner. "I don't care at this point. You yourself said that you wanted to check out fairy tail."
"But-" He started. "-are these bandages really able to cover our guild markings? I mean, what are we going to do if they find out we are from another guild? Will they welcome us like everyone says they do, or will they attack as as some ugly insect!?"
I shook my head and just sighed. "We won't know that until we try. Now, let's go!" Pulling Revolence along, we went right up to the fairy tail doors.
Right before opening it, though, I caught sight of the blond girl that the master said to stay away from at all cost since it seems that she was the one that seemed to be fixing what we had done. Snap. Glancing around I tried to find a spot that I could take cover, but to no avail as the girl noticed us.
Sweat dripping, I waited for the worst until...she smiled and waved at us. The Neko with pink hair following right behind, he had a questioned look until he noticed us as well and also smiled. "Nice to meet you." The blonde said. "The names Lucy. But you can call me luce if you want. Are you coming to join Fairy tail?"
Without realizing it, I nodded my head. And to my surprise, Revolence did as well. "Cool! New family! The name's Natsu by the way...um...?"
"Oh. Sorry. Seems I didn't introduce us. I'm Triton and this-" I pointed towards Revolence. "-is Revolence." Wait, did Natsu just say...family?
"Well come inside and we'll get you all in order." Walking through the doors, we sat down at what seemed to be a bar. " I probably won't really be able to help you out with showing you around the place, as both Natsu and I have personal missions to attend to, but I'm sure that someone will help you out if you want."
We both stared in awe at what the atmosphere of the place was. I knew that they were named the top guild for a reason, but still... Sitting down we both looked at each other and nodded in agreement. We both knew that even though it was risky and we most likely would be hated by many for leaving our guild, it's not like we were loved as family anyways. All it ever was was 'do this, do that' and 'if only you were better'.
"Let's do this!" With a smile, both Revolence and I grabbed each other's hands and fist pumped them.
Lucy gave us a weird look, but then only smiled as well. "I don't know what you guys are thinking, but we are with you all the way!" Natsu agreed with her as well.
"Well...first off. We need to talk in private. I don't think this is the best place to talk and all." Both the blonde and pinkette looked at one another in slight confusion, but only shrugged.
Waving us in another direction, we followed them to what seemed to be a disclosed area of the library. "Here. Let's sit down and chat. What's on your mind?"
Doing as she had told us, I pulled out the nicely crafted wooden chair and relaxed in it. Everyone else did the same thing. "Well, to start, we know what has been going on with the Nekos as well as the spell that was casted to make Fairy Tail look normal." Revolence spoke in a hushed tone.
I could see the surprise in the Dragon Slayer's eyes. "How...how do you know about this? I mean we've tried and tried again to get people to believe us...but..."
"That's because-" Taking off the bandage around my neck, I then exposed my guild mark. "We are in the guild that took part in the act." Following along with what I had done, Revolence also unwrapped the bandage on his wrist.
I could see tears welling up in Lucy's eyes as a look of slight fear took over. Natsu on the other hand seemed raged. "If you did this to us, then why are you even here! You broke our family! You br-"
"Natsu!" He then turned towards the girl next to him, seemingly surprised by her outburst. "They wouldn't of come here for no reason at all. And they said they wanted to join Fairy Tail, so they must realize that what their guild is doing is wrong. Besides..." She smiled at us, which made me confused, only to look back at him. "It's not like we don't have people that have made mistakes. Take Gajeel and Juvia, for example." So it's true. They are so close, it's almost like...no they are family. Always having each other's back, but also forgiving and accepting one another. Am I dreaming?
I was only snapped out of my state when I saw Lucy crying again. "We...we finally have all the answers, Natsu. You Can finally be back to the way you want to be."
"Yeah. Yeah, your right." Natsu gave Lucy a gentle hug, only to turn back towards us. "Now then...how exactly do we fix all this?"
Lucy's pov
We had decided that Revolence and Triton would head back to their previous guild so that they could collect more information on the matter. Both Natsu and I knew they would be a while, so we chose to check in with Erza and Jellal to tell them what we had just learned.
"So-" Erza started, looking slightly confused. "-you're telling me that all that happened?" Both of us just nodded our heads in agreement. "Well, this is actually good. But I can only imagine that it should be a surprise to you."
Well, that's for sure. But the only reason being the fact that we found another person that can help us turn Natsu back. But I'm not going to admit that..."Yeah. But the thing is that-"
Suddenly I was interrupted. "Lucy, we have a problem!" Turning to find Triton with a freaked out look, I tried to calm him down. He seemed to be having a harsh breath from running a whole bunch.
"What? What's wrong?" A bad feeling filled my gut. I knew that something wasn't right.
Finally catching his breath, he looked at me and spoke. "The guild...it's just...gone."
"What?" That doesn't make sense at all... "What do you mean it's gone?"
Triton shook his head. "Exactly what I said. It's gone. And something tells me that they know we left the guild because look." Both pointing at the area their marks used to be under the bandages, they seemed to be gone. "And knowing them, they will take one of two ways. One, they could just flee, which is what seems they did. Or two, they will attack."
My hands began to feel clammy because I knew that this couldn't be good if they just disappeared. "Well, I guess we will have to hope for the first option. For now, though, we need to use what we have." And that's pretty much all we can do...and to think that we actually had something...
Sensing my upsetness, Natsu put a hand on my shoulder. Looking up and meeting his eyes, he gave a gentle smile. "Don't worry. Even if we can't reverse this spell, you said it yourself: you will love me as a friend and as well as family no matter what."
Felling a little more relieved, I smiled. "You're right." Going back to the red head, meaning Revolence, I sighed. "I think that I'm going to go home and read some to get this off of my mind for a bit." Getting up, just about to leave, I stopped and remembered something. " And by the way...welcome to the Fairy Tail family."
A little bit later...
"Ug. What a crazy day." Plopping down on the soft couch downstairs, I sighed.
"Yeah, I would agree. I mean, we found a connection to this whole thing." When Natsu spoke of the event today, there was a sour tone in his voice. Mumbling under his breath, he sat next to me.
He must be irritated by the fact that those people had the courage, or to him, dignity, to come to our guild and say that they wanted to be in our guild. "You know, it's not all bad. Sure, they may have been the one to to all this, but something tells me that they are truly on our side."
Suddenly Natsu jumped up and his face had the most agitated look to it I didn't like. "How are you able to take their side! They hurt me and not to mention that the last time you trusted someone like that, you got hurt too! I just-" He stopped mid-sentence and ran his hands vigorously through his hair. Looking off into the opposite direction towards the stairs, Natsu sighed. "Sorry. I just don't even know what I felt before. All I remember is your smile and how you always used to look at me. All I want is to be able to know how I felt before."
Feeling my chest squeeze with pain, I got up and walked over to him. I then proceeded to wrap my arms around him. For a moment, he almost seemed to accept my hug, but then he pushed me away. "Not right now, Luce. I need to think about how this is gonna to work out. I'm going to go lay down upstairs. Come back up after you've eaten."
As he went up the steps towards my room, I felt my heart hurt even more. My eyes then began to water. What do you want me to do, Natsu? I don't know what to do to make you feel happy again. I want you to remember, but I don't know how without telling you every single detail. But even then, you may not remember.
I fell to my knees, tear stains wetting the floor. Natsu. An image from the past popped in my head. Natsu...Many more were flashing through my head. Natsu... Curling up into a tight ball, I didn't know what to do with the pain that filled me. All I knew is that I wanted to help Natsu. I wanted to so bad, but there was no specific way.
Meanwhile on the other side of the house, Natsu had closed the door and slide down it, not knowing how to do anything. He knew he was at his breaking point. Unless I can figure out a way to remember everything, there is no way I can support Lucy. She's cared for me this whole time, and yet all I've done is cause her pain.
Hearing her crying, he cringed at what he had done. Maybe if I didn't ever have my memories taken away, things would be different. He cluched his fist's tightly and then stood up. Since it was so quiet, all he could think about was the crying lucy he wanted to comfort. But why was it so hard to do that? There's just no way that anything could work out the way I want...
Just about to sit down again on the window sill, he was stopped when he spotted a book out of the corner of his eyes in a slightly ajar drawer. What? Stopping himself, he twisted around and pulled the drawer open. His eyes widened at the oddly familiar book. An image of lucy holding it against her chest flashed before him. That's right. This is the one from my memories. The one she used to carry around all the time...
Natsu's hand grabbed the corner and flipped it open. A thump sounded and the worn, ink-stained pages were exposed. Instinctively, he ran his hands across the pages that were there in front of him and the scribbled ink started to form words. And the words became a story.
A sharp, but warm, pain filled my chest and I felt a bunch of feelings fill me. Happiness...sadness...and what is this? My heart suddenly beat rapidly when I thought about Lucy and all the stories that we had made through Fairy Tail. Isn't this...love?
Feeling a weight literally leave my chest, I looked behind and saw my wings were disappearing. And that was when I knew that my memories had begun to completely come back. Lucy can't see me like this! If she does, she'll know that I look at the book and be mad at me! ...wow. It feels nice to be back.
Looking around, I grabbed the book and a cape to pull around me so that she couldn't tell I had lost my wings. At the same time, I made sure to hide the book within it because I wanted to read through this and make sure I remembered all the adventures we have gone on. Not to mention that I just broke Lucy's heart...
I felt myself sink to the ground again with the cape wrapped around me. I'll find the time to read it tomorrow. For now, i have to collect myself and figure out how I'm going to apologize to her without her knowing that I have my memories...and that I...love her...
